Editor's Notes

  1. The mission of the RMG is to ensure our individual reservists are “war-time ready.” We need to define “war-time ready” for a force that’s not postured in VTCs. Individual reservists are “ready” to be mobilized as primarily home station backfill. Mobilization “ready” is defined as current medical, dental, security clearance, and fully qualified in duty APSC. Deployment training is relevant when an individual reservist volunteers for a deployment. It requires their AC Commander’s approval, who accepts the responsibility of deployment training by releasing/approving member to deploy.

  3. The numbers by each base represent full time members
  4. Treat the reservist the same way you would an AD member (in a sense).
  5. Fiscal Year Participation - The FY is the time-period in which you must meet the specific participation requirements for your category. This time-period always begins 1 October and ends 30 September of the following year (example 1 October 1999 - 30 September 2000). These requirements are mandatory and must be completed each FY to maintain your current position in the program. There is a FY R/R year analyzer on the ARPC homepage to help you with tracking at www.arpc.org , then clicking on Participation Requirements. R/R Year Participation - The year of service for R/R begins one day of one year and ends one day before the anniversary of the next year (example 1 July 1999 - 30 June 2000). Your R/R date is established the day you enter an active status. It remains constant throughout your military career unless you have a break in active military status. Contact HQ ARPC/DPPK to determine your R/R date. Your R/R date is on your assignment orders and AF Form 526. If you are in a participating status, you must earn a minimum of 35 points through any combination of IDT, any type of active duty tour (AT, RPA, or MPA), ECI courses, or in-residence school tours each R/R year. A minimum of 50 points, including your 15 membership points (automatically added at the end of your R/R year) earns one year's credit for retirement purposes. For more information, please refer to the ARPC website at www.arpc.org , then clicking on Participation Requirements.

  8. Guidance: AFM 36-8001, Reserve Personnel Participation & Training These two type of participation requirements should be monitored closely. The fiscal year applies only to reservists in a pay category which begins 1 October of each year. The R/R year applies to all reservists. A minimum of 50 points (including 15 membership points) is required for all participating reservists for each R/R year to count s a qualifying year toward retirement eligibility. NOTE: A successful FY does not earn satisfactory Federal service towards retirement. This requires a satisfactory retention/retirement (R/R) year.
