Overview About the IeMRC Projects Funding Themes Exemplars Industrial Engagement IeMRC activities www.IeMRC.org
Fast changing, fragmented, global competition, reduced vertical integration in UK sector UK characterised by globally significant companies (BAE, GE) and dynamic SMEs IeMRC -> a key component of coordinated Industry, Government and Academia strategy for growth and prosperity UK Electronics Manufact. www.IeMRC.org
Centre background Funded by Part of EPSRC’s Innovative Manufacturing Research Centre Programme – 16 others. In 2002 Electronics manufacturing – strategic gap Led by user needs £5.5 Million Funding over 5 years – started 2004 www.IeMRC.org
Manufacturing Research Aims of IMRC Programme: Increase amount of internationally recognised research Strengthen and expand strategic partnerships between IMRCs, other research groups, Industry and other collaborators Provide greater focus on outputs, their impact on wealth creation and on society, to improve technology transfer www.IeMRC.org
Executive formed by Academics Industrial Steering Group (ISG) Governors Management Team based at Loughborough Academic Director: Prof. Paul Conway ISG Director: Prof. Martin Goosey IeMRC Structure www.IeMRC.org
