As Christians today we are faced with many ethical issues living in our society. Every time we
turn on the TV to watch the news, pick up a newspaper and read the headlines, or read a magazine
about world issues we can see situations happening in this world that challenge our morals and
ethics. It is our dutyas Christians to know what we believe and where we stand so we can back up
our beliefs and try to interact with this world as morally correct as possible. There are some
situationsthat we have no control over that appear ethicallywrong to us and there is not much we
can do if anything at all. At the same time there are things that we can do to try and reach people in
some situations. It is our job to know the difference and stand up... Show more content on

I am not saying just go to war for any reason we see fit, but have it as a last resort, when the other
person leaves us no choice. For example, Desert Storm, we had to take action against Iraq and
Sadam because he left us no choice. If everyone who was a Christian decided that war was
wrong and didn t fight, then we would have lost the war. As Christians, I believe it is our duty to
try to avoid war, but when it become necessary we must take action. Even though we might not
desire to be out on the front lines with the people who are actually doing the killing and combat,
we must support our country. We can take roles in the army as non combatance if it is necessary
for us to actually go out to war, but whatever we do it is our duty to our country to show support
and be involved so we can make sure that the war is just for what is necessary and not taken out
of hand. You see, if we stay out of war then our country and way of living will be threatened all
together, but most of us do not wish to go in headfirst and kill everyone who opposes us. We just
find a median where we can help control what is going on and seek the best possible outcome for
the world in which we live in.
The next topic that we will discuss is the Christian s involvement in matters relating to the division
of church and state and religious liberty. I believe that a

The Experience Of Niagara Falls
Have you ever heard of a place that has millions of gallons of water falling over the side of a cliff
every minute? This place is called Niagara Falls. Niagara is one of the many wonders of the
world. Over the summer, I traveled to Niagara Falls. I will never forget the experience of the
falls. The experience includes seeing the falls in the daytime, seeing Niagara in the nighttime, and
how it effects some of your other senses, getting closer to the falls by doing some activities, and
learning about the falls more by seeing an exciting movie. Niagara Fallsis a beautiful place. It is
extremely beautiful to look at in the daytime. It is amazing to see millions of gallons of water
tumbling over the edge. Niagara Falls is about 170 feet high, so the water falls a long way. There
is constantly water falling. When the water hits the rocks at the bottom of the falls, it creates mist.
There is a ton of mist flying out of the bottom of the falls. The whole town surrounding Niagara is
covered in mist. There is also the sight of the water splashing on the rocks. It almost looks like the

Niagara affects more than just eyes. You don t just see the falls, you can sense them too. There
is mist everywhere. Your hair gets puffy from all of the humidity. You can only put your hair in
a pony tail or it will stand up by itself. There is water splashing off the rocks. This effects your
ears because it is very loud. Niagara never sleeps. The water is splashing through everyday and
every night. You have to get used to the sound of water splashing or you will not be able to sleep
at night. The splashing also causes water to fly everywhere. It is not just the mist in your face.
When you are standing by the bottom of the falls on the lookout spot, you will get wet. You will
get soaked, but tour guides give you raincoats so you do not end up completely drenched in water.

James Cook Research Paper
James Cook transformed exploration with the use of modern technology to carry out his
explorations, specifically the use of navigation technology and even the use of mathematics.
Cook was a late bloomer in the age of exploration, but definitely made his mark, as he became
one of the most accomplished explorers of all time. Cook used the latest scientific methods and
techniques of cartography to chart his voyages to places such as Tahiti, Australia, New Zealand
and of course Hawaii. This led to more explorers from other countries following his lead in later
explorations during the 1700 s. The main reason Cook was put in the position to carry out these
three voyages was because of his known skills and ability to use this technology. Cook was... Show

He gained technical skills needed to make an effective explorer so he could continue to carry out
difficult explorations to un charted territories. He became accustomed and well off using a
sextant, chronometer and octant just to name a few. Cook further advanced the way explorers
navigate, stated in the text the contribution to the solution of the long standing and very grave
problem of calculating longitude was based upon the successful work of astronomers and
watchmakers his advancement of surveying and cartography gave scope for much greater
individuality (Price 6). Cook was one of the first to explore the Pacific and these technologies
had evolved over the years to where he relied heavily on them. Cook relied on them to configure
how much time and the distance it would take to sail to and from the various destinations. With
this introduction to this new technology, Cook could now always get back home without loosing
any crewman. Cook created many maps and to create accurate maps representing the explorations
he went on, it was important that latitude and longitude were accurately determined. Luckily for
Cook, navigators had been able to work out latitude accurately for centuries before him by
measuring the angle of the sun with a certain instruments, these being a backstaff or quadrant.
Longitude was certainly more difficult to measure accurately because it requires precise
standpoints of the time difference between points on the surface of the earth. On his first voyage,
Cook gathered accurate longitude measurements due to his navigational skills. Cook states, the
appearance of this Cape and Hermites Islands is represented in the last view in the chart which I
have drawn of this coast from our first making land unto Cape Horn in which is included Strait Le
Maire and part of Staten land (Price 23). Cook was one of the first to chart

The Spectrophotometer Determinationof Iron in Teff
Introduction The research question is: the spectrophotometer determination of iron in teff and a
measure of the bio availability to suggest ways in which bio availability or absorption is increased
and consequently anemia decreased.
Iron is one of the most important elements that is needed by different living organisms. One of its
functions is to control cell growth and aid in differentiation of cells. However, one of its most
important responsibilities is found in hemoglobin. which is involved in allowing oxygen transport
in portions of the blood. Iron is available in two oxidation states: Fe2+ and Fe3+. The one that is
readily absorbed in the human body is Fe2+. Thus in this extended essay, I will focus on the
concentration of Fe2+ in four cereals teff, wheat, maize and sorghum. Limited amounts of
absorption of Fe2+ in the human body causes iron deficiency anemia. Iron deficiency anemia is
when a person has a red blood cell count that is less than normal or when there are few
hemoglobin molecules in each red blood cell. Consequences and effect of this to humans could
be fatigue, headaches, palpitations, lethargy and etc. One of the causes of iron deficiency anemia
is the bio availability of many grains and legumes. The less bio available or in other words the
less absorbed the nutrients of the cereals we eat are, the prospect of iron deficiency anemia
occurring becomes higher. I will show this need of Iron in the blood by first measuring the iron
contents of the four

Thin Blue Line Analysis
Thin Blue Line is a thrilling documentary from filmmaker Errol Morris. In it, he chronicles the
death of police officer Robert Woods and the wrongful conviction of Randall Dale Adams. The
film proved to be controversial and Adams case was revisited after it premiered. He was
subsequently released from prison about a year after the filmcame out. His innocence was
maintained throughout the film in various methods. Probably the most important facet of Thin
Blue Line is its revolutionary use of recreations. While this has previously been brought up for
being wrong in Nanook of the North, in this film it is quintessential to the story, and even makes it
stronger.
Morris uses those involved to tell the story, and he gets them involved by interviewing

The Invasion Of Poland During The World War II
On September 1, 1939, at approximately 4:45 A.M. Germany commenced their invasion of
Poland (Bethell 1). The events that ushered in this invasion are complex, and help explain Hitler
s intentions and goals. The invasion was preceded by Germany s vast re equipment, as well as
its numerous diplomatic efforts. Hitler s September invasion was predicated on his strong belief
that the war would be limited to a single enemy, Poland. Aware of Germany s economic and
militaristic limitations, Hitler did not intend to start World War II when he invaded Poland in
1939. Rather, his plan was to avoid a world war until the mid to late 1940 s. The invasion of
Poland on September 1, 1939 was preceded by a significant effort at negotiation between Germany
and Poland. Germany s diplomatic attempts targeted two crucial goals. Their first objective was to
persuade Poland to collaborate with them against the USSR. After being adamantly rejected,
Germany s ambition turned towards regaining land lost to Poland in the Treaty of Versailles. From
1933 1939, German officials persistently presented proposals to Poland to ally against the common
enemy, Russia (Budurowycz 20). After numerous failed diplomatic visits to Poland, Germany
visited on January 25 27, 1939 in a final attempt at persuading Poland (Budurowycz 26). During this
visit, Joachim von Ribbentrop, Germany s foreign minister, beseeched Poland to join the Anti
Comintern pact. After the Poles maintained their inflexible and negative attitude

A High Point Of Japanese Aristocratic Culture
A high point of Japanese aristocratic culture, the Heian period was a time of significant
intellectual and cultural growth. It is during this time that women came to have a very important
role in the social and interpersonal workings of the court. Though there were still many
restrictions upon them, women were able to express themselves as never before and faced a
surprising degree of freedom and autonomy in a society that was defined by an immense amount
of rigid formalities. One of the things I found to be most interesting from my findings were the
power structures that developed within the court of Empress Fujiwara No Shoshi. Women as well
as men not only exerted influence within the court but also developed pecking orders as well.
Though, today, we have a rough idea of what this pecking order may have looked like with the
Empress at the top followed by imperial consorts and the Empresses ladies in waiting, there appears
to be no official documented hierarchal structure. Yet, although their may be no official
documentation of this structure, evidence of these power structures can be found in the memoirs
and works of women of the time, including Murasaki Shikibuand Sei Shonagon. In a society where
one was defined almost entirely by their social standing, earning the title of Lady in Waiting was an
extremely sought after goal. Although the title most certainly provided women within the court
certain privileges over others, it also came with a great deal of anxiety and

A Proposed Easy-to-Use Classification of Mandibular Fractures
There are many classifications put forward for describing mandibular fractures. Most of these
classifications are not without complexity, making it difficult to use it for clinicians specially in
emergency circumstances. Some of them are very comprehensive and gather too much information
which can be good for theoretical purposes but not for practical utilization in clinics and hospitals.
Clinicians prefer to use easy and ready to be used type of classification. Le forte classification for
maxillary fractures though not very comprehensive but still used by most clinician because of its
simplicity. Similarly recently Graham Mount has proposed a new classification for dental caries.

Records of 2767 fracture lines in 1745 patients, fracture line, mostly were found at the angle of
the mandible (31.5%), and then in the condylar process (26.9%). The third most common place
was in the canine and premolar area (19.4%). Unilateral fractures occurred in 739 (42.4%)
patients, while multiple fractures occurred in 1006 (57.6%) patients. Unilateral fractures occurred
at the angle of the mandible (14.6%), then in the condylar process (11.4%), and the third place of
occurrence was in the area of canine and premolars (7.6%) (Table 1).
The patterns of multiple mandibular fractures show the fracture of the body of the mandible on
both side (b b) occurred in 421 (24.1%) patients while fracture of the body of the mandible with
condylar process fracture (b c) occurred in 456 (26.1%) cases, and numerous fractures hit 72

Malpractice And Malpractice Of A Healthcare Organization
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This paper will be discussing tort as it relates to negligence and malpractice in a healthcare
organization. It will try explain how negligence and malpractice drive up the cost of healthcare and
how there has been a clamor tort reform, what would be the content of the reform and the expected
outcome. Lastly the essay would prove to us that there is no indication since tort reform has been
implemented, that points to a reduction in the cost of healthcare and the cost of running a
healthcare organization in relation to paying high malpractice insurance.
TORT
Tort is a civil wrong for which a court of law provides remedy for a civil wrong that has been
committed against an individual, Remedy could be sought for a personal loss, financial loss, and
personal injury (Smith, 1993). A tort is simply the Norman word for a wrong but torts have
typically been distinguished from crimes and from wrongs identified with contractual relations. Tort
law, then, is concerned with civil wrongs not arising from contracts (White, 2003,
p.xxiii).During the very early years of tort been introduced in to legal discourse and proceeding, tort
was considered as a wrong that came by way or forceful damage or hurt. It was widely regarded
both as a civil wrong and a criminal during those early years, civil wrongs can be classified as a
wrong that involves no violence and also a wrong that involves an element of force and violence
(Street, 1906).

The Equitable Change Of The Voting And Race Laws
The equitable change of the voting and race laws, widening the suffrage and equivalent rights for
every single white male, were consistent augmentations of the belief system of the American
Revolution. These rights, be that as it may, were not stretched out to ladies or free dark individuals.
A religious recovery development called the Second Great Awakening, drove by Methodists and
Baptists, changed the religious scene. Another political gathering, the Democrats, had blended
around Andrew Jackson, coming full circle in his race as President in 1828 and disparaging the
Adams organization s vision of patriotism. The 1828 race was a watershed in constituent history,
engaging the masses and focusing on identities, not issues.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In the event that a voter needed financial autonomy, then it appeared that the individuals who
controlled his work could undoubtedly control his vote.
Humorously, pretty much as mechanical pay work made ward workers on a substantial new
scale, the more seasoned republican duty to propertied voters dropped out of support. As
property necessities for voting were annulled, financial status vanished as an establishment for
citizenship. By 1840 more than 90 percent of grown up white men had the privilege to vote.
Religion and freedom is a topic so critical and (in the First Amendment) an outcome so pivotal that
it is hard to envision causal associations being overlooked in the pre Revolutionary period.
However, that has been to a great extent the case as British approach and practice have been
investigated solely from the point of view of political oppression or financial misuse. Carl
Bridenbaugh has convincingly indicated how extraordinary was the provincial trepidation of a
ministerial oppression designed by the Church of England. Conceived in destitution, Andrew
Jackson (1767 1845) had turned into a rich Tennessee legal advisor and rising youthful government
official by 1812, when war broke out between the United States and Britain. His administration in
that contention earned Jackson national distinction as a military saint, and he would turn into
America s most influential and polarizing political figure amid the 1820s and 1830s. After

People say that humans should be free from slavery, violence, fear and abuses. What comes to
mind when one says Slavery? Most people generally think about the past when african americans
were forced into slavery, to this day slavery does is exist but in a form of sexual trafficking. In this
persuasive speech I will be arguing to go against sexual trafficking, hoping to expose the ugly truth
about the dark industry. Even though sexual trafficking is not exactly slaveryvictims of sexual
trafficking are portrayed as slaves, sexual trafficking also does more than just physical damage, it
inflicts social impacts. Sexual trafficking is the second largest source of illegal income worldwide

The definition of a slave is a person who is the legal property of another and is forced to obey
them. Even though people may not be thinking as sexual trafficking as an act of slavery, I think
that it is because like slavery you are transporting an individual against their will for a benefit for
another individual, Sex trafficking involves an individual being kidnapped, drugged, and raped
thus why it is modern slavery. Like slavery, sexual trafficking pimps use force to ensure that
victims comply as well when being kidnapped from their homes violence is applied in which
slavery has the same concept. Pimps like to beat down on the victims to a point in which they
have low self worth, pride and dignity. Therefore also relating to slavery as one is using force to
make one feel down on themselves to get more of what they want and to also leave a message
that they are greater than you. Some people say that sexual trafficking is one s only source of
income that without this business many people would not get income this is true however,
selling victims for your own benefit goes against morals as you are putting a price tag on one s
freedom for your benefit. This proves that sexual trafficking is not only a modern day slavery act

In the past there have been people that have had theories that relate to child development and
learning of children in childcare settings; these people are known as educational pioneers and are
well respected as their theories have changed childcare for the better (Meggitt et al, 2011).
Friedrich Froebel (1782 1852), the great German educator, is famous pre eminently for his radical
insight that the first learning experiences of the very young are of crucial importance in influencing
not only their later educational achievements but also the health and development of society as a
whole (Weston, 1998).
Friedrich Froebel had the idea that children learn best through play and by having real
experiences and from these theories he was the founder of the first ever kindergarten in 1840
(Meggitt et al, 2011). Following the theory that children learn best through play, Frobel introduced
toys that he called, Froebel Gifts or gaben which included balls, wooden blocks, rings, tiles and
sticks which were all the key elements of Froebel s kindergarten (Watson, 2002).
Froebel s ideas are very similar to those that construct the EYFS that all childcare providers use
today. Here is a table showing a summary of his ideas and how they are similar to and link with

The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas Summary
My Review on: The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas
The story opens with a description of Setting up a city, followed by narration of real or imaginary
events. This tale won the Hugo Award for Best Story of 1974, which is offered annually for a
science fiction or fantasy story, considered a classic of the science fiction genre. His premise is
based on a moral dilemma, posed by the philosopher William James, who imagined what would be
a hideous happiness if it depended on the suffering of a child, a story that can be interpreted as a
political allegory. There are those who say that the child who lives in misery under the city
represents the inferior or working class, who supports the upper class with poorly paid labor. Thus,
the story can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The narrator says I think and I think it should exist, instead of telling the reader what it is. Asking
if the reader believes what he says about the festival, The Narrator of The Ones Who Walk Away
from Omelas can not
tell a direct tale. The story about the summer festival is diverted to a brief treatise on happiness,
what happiness really is and how the citizens of Omelas succeeded. The scene is like a joyful
and luxurious fairy tale with a cry of bells and the swallows growing up. Soon after, the narrator
tries to explain the antecedents of such a happy place, although it becomes clear that he or she
does not know all the details about the city. Instead, she invites readers to imagine the details that
correspond to them, insisting that it does not matter, as you like. Then the story returns to a
description of the festival, with all its flowers and pastries and flutes and children with nymphs
competing with the horses. It seems too good to be true, and the narrator asks, Do you believe?
Do you accept the festival, the city, the joy? The narrator repeatedly mentions that he does not

Eclipse Is An Open Source Integrated Development...
Milestone 12: Case Study Eclipse
Yujia Xie
I.Introduction
Eclipse is an open source Integrated Development Environment (IDE) for almost every computer
programming language over a dozen platforms (Mac, Linux, Windows, etc.). In fact, it is one of
the most popular IDEs nowadays for multiple programming languages, especially Java. Back in
2001, Eclipse 1.0 came out as a framework, a flexible architecture that served as the building tool
for developers, providing a variety of accessible toolkits, private or public, to ease to process of
programming. Over the course of time, Eclipse takes in developers feedbacks and enhances its
accessibility and usability, releasing new versions with more functionality (i.e. Java Development
Tools, Plug in Development Environment, Rich Client Platform, etc.).
One of the core ideas behind Eclipse is to allow users (in this case developers) to write and share
modules (i.e. toolkits), different from the previous IDEs that hides their individual building
classes. For example, the pioneer Plug in Development Environment (PDE) for Eclipse was
designed specifically for this purpose, allowing developers to build and test their own plugins that
would later benefit the performance of Eclipse. Eclipse provide an environment that individual
users can manipulate the framework to facilitate their daily work. Like most of the open source
software, originally, Eclipse was written by a group of paid, full time developer, setting up the

The Dissonances Of God And God In The Iliad
Some of the things that define an individual and its behavior are the culture and ideals in its
residence. These ideals and culture prove that each and everyone one of us is unique. For
example, an ideal Greek citizen is versatile, clever, a leader, an orator, adaptable and tricky while
an ideal Hebrew citizen is wise, obedient, studious, righteous, inadequate, and is able to converse
with God. In Hebrew literature, God is just and merciful and the humans are inadequate. On the
other hand, in Greek literature, gods are powerful and self centered, and the humans are the ones
responsible for the community. The difference between the two is apparent, and considering these
evident differences, we can also reason out that the way how the characters... Show more content on

branches enticing me to get closer. I swallow a lump that forms in my throat, urging the already
swarming butterflies in my stomach to calm down. This year, I would meet new people and make

Critical Analysis Of Serving In Florida By Barbara Ehrenreich
Serving in Florida Barbara Ehrenreich is a best selling author, who wrote the descriptive
narrative essay titled, Serving in Florida . In this writing, Ehrenreich tells the readers about her
experiment into seeing if it was truly possible to live off of minimum wage, in a low wage
community located in Florida. Ehrenreich initially published this writing in her novel called
Nickled and Dimed, but since then, it has also been published in other books for students in
school. In Serving in Florida , Ehrenreich finds a place to live for about $500 per month. While
living there, she had a waitressing job, paying 2.13 per hour plus tips. Throughout the writing,
Ehrenreich described the obstacles that made it almost impossible to live off of only minimum wage.
Nowadays, everyone living on their own, hopes to have a good job that pays the bills and lets
them live comfortably. In the writing Serving in Florida , Barbara Ehrenreich made a bold move,
and she conducted an experiment where she tested if it was possible to make a living off of
minimum wage. Ehrenreich found a place to live and got her waitressing job, paying 2.13 an hour
plus tips. She was ultimately focusing on the lives of people who were forced to live off of
minimum wage. Ehrenreich described all of this as an experiment to test a mathematical
proposition . During the 20th century, economic progress took over the idea of poverty, while
employees rights got taken away. This made Ehrenreich want to write

Christopher Weaver on Obamacare
This article by Christopher Weaver in the Wall Street Journal brings up some key points about the
number of enrollees in Obamacare as the enrollment deadline closed on Monday. Along the way,
the website has had its downfalls with the Congress shut down and technical issues. This may have
hindered the number of people who potentially would have signed up but got frustrated during the
process. It has been estimated that 7.1 million people have enrolled in the market place. The
impact of this number on the health law is yet to be determined. It also is unseen how this will
impact premiums in the long run, as well as if these insurancecompanies can maintain the plans
offered on the exchange (Weaver, 2014). Furthermore, the effect of many of the provisions and
mandates are yet to be seen; it will be an interesting next few years to see how it pans out. For
example, Weaver asks how many of these millions were previously uninsured. The main point of
the Affordable Care Act (ACA) was to attract the uninsured population to get insurance under the
law. Prior to the implementation of the ACA, there were over 50 million uninsured in America. It
is worth knowing how many of these people were just switching plans or how many of them are
new to the health insurance market. This would be the better measure of the effectiveness of this
law in regard to decreasing the total number of uninsured in America. Even though this will still
leave some insured, there are some reasons this may be

Insanity In The Tell Tale Heart
Edgar Allan Poe uses symbolism, conflict, and setting to construct the effect of insanity in the
narrator of The Tell Tale Heart. To begin with, Poe uses imagery to help demonstrate symbolism;
as he states, The disease had sharpened my senses not destroyed not dulled them, it tells the
reader that most of the information was transmitted by his senses. For instance, on page 92 the
narrator describes how the old man s eye resembled of a vulture through sight and this creates a
situation where the reader shifts into the narrator s shoes. Through the mind of the narrator shows
how the eye triggers a negative feeling and it might be the fear of death as vulture s prey on the
sick and dead. The passage Whenever it fell upon me, my blood ran

The First Incident Of The Civil War Essay
In 2000 the Zimbabwean government tried to amend the constitution, and replace the Willing
Buyer, Willing Seller act with one that would allow government to expropriate whatever land it
needed, without compensation. This attempt to amend the constitution failed. However, the War
veterans association, independently mobilized people and marched on farms owned by white
people, and forcefully removing them from their land. It is widely believed that the British are
responsible for this because they didn t follow promises that they had made with the people of
Zimbabweon multiple occasions in history. The first incident was when Cecil Rhodes broke the
Rudd Concessions; the second incident was when Ian Smith tried to create a façade of majority
rule; and the last and final incident was when the British broke the agreements made at the
Lancaster house. However, the British cannot be blamed for breaking of the Lancaster agreements
because they didn t benefit the poor and were too expensive.
Zimbabwe s history can be tracked back to the pre colonial, Kingdom of Mapungubwe of the 13th

Vivaldi Instrumedeley Analysis
The two concerts I have chosen are different in many ways, but the music itself has a lot in
common. For the first concert I chose the progressive rock group Dream Theater. I chose the piece
Instrumedley from their Live at Budokan video released in 2004. This video depicts the band setup
on stage in the typical rock concertformat. The lighting is bright and multicolored. Unlike most rock
concerts, the musicians do not animate themselves to excite the crowd. They rely on the mastery of
their instruments to provide the excitement.
The second concert is a performance of Vivaldi s Concerto Grosso in D minor. It is performed by
the Franz Listz Chamber Orchestra. The setting is that of a small gothic church in Hungary. There
is no audience as the venue is used solely for the acoustics.
The band Dream Theater is an American progressive metal band formed in 1985. The members
met while attending Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. Their music focuses on
three core elements: metal, progressive roots and melody. Dream Theater has been known to make
use of elements of other musical styles to include classical music. The piece I selected,

The opening sequence is entrancing as the two violins tend to echo off one another. The acoustics
of the gothic church lend itself perfectly to the style of music. The details in the melody are
clearly heard while there is a rich bass sound thanks to the echo of the church. I found the piece to
be rather relaxing while being impressed by the complexity. It is no surprise that so many modern

Effects Of Socialization
Socialization is defined as the process by which individuals acquire thoughts, feelings, and
behaviors appropriate to their positions in society, (Rohall 149). Individuals experience
socialization beginning the day they are born, and throughout most of their lives. It can occur
through everyday observation and interaction at every stage of development, or it can occur more
formally though education and mentors. Socializationis important to how individuals interact in
society and it also plays a part in most aspects of social psychology. An important aspect of

Race as Precursors to Identity, Enrique Neblett looked at the patterns of racial socialization in a
sample of 358 African American adolescents and identified 3 patterns of socialization
experiences, High Positive, Moderate Positive, and Low Frequency (Neblett 189). The study
found that a large portion of children reported that their parents highly emphasized on racial
pride as well as taught them about racial barriers. The remaining children provided information
that not all parents convey messages about race to their children. This shows that some
individuals agents of socialization play a large role in their understanding of their race. In the
study, they also state that African Americans awareness of race makes it possible for them to
grapple with the significance of being African American (Neblett 189). The children that were
categorized as having High Positive or Moderate Positive experiences with socialization are going
to be more apt to understand their socialized position in society. This is important because a strong
ethnic identity is associated with greater psychological well being, (Rohall 153). Therefore,
children, especially children from minority groups, who are socialized to have a strong identity and
can understand the significance of being a specific race, are more

The Implementation Of Salad Bars
The Implementation of Salad Bars in Schools In recent years, the issue of childhood obesity has
gained major attention in the United States. The percentage of obesity has risen tremendously
within the last decade. In a recent news article, American Obesity Rates Are on the Rise, Maggie
Fox states about 28 percent of the people in America admits that they are obese (Fox). The
United States has become the country with the highest rate of obesity in the world. Besides
adults who are obese, obesity is also a common issue to children and teenagers. Childhood is an
important period when parents help their child avoid being obese. Eating habits during
childhood can have an impact on a person as they age. Children in the U.S who are obese will
most likely develop a higher risk of having medical issues. According to the website,
letsmove.gov, obesity in children could cause a wide range of health issues such as
cardiovascular disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, cholesterol, high glucose levels, and more
( Health Problems and Childhood Obesity ). Also, children who are obese at a young age, are
likely to remain obese in adulthood. The establishment of the bill, H.R. 2627 Salad Bars in
Schools Expansion Act could reduce the percentage of obese children by providing salad bars
during lunch times. This exposure to healthy eating habits can help children to maintain a healthy
lifestyle and to avoid future health issues. In the bill H.R. 2627 Salad Bars in Schools Expansion

preoccupying theme of Guernica is of course death; reinforcing this, in the centre of the painting
is a hidden skull which dominates the viewer s subliminal impressions. The skull is shown
sideways and has been ingeniously overlaid onto the body of the horse, which is also a death

Brief History Of Field Hockey
Introduction: A Brief History
Field hockey s origins can be traced back 4000 years to ancient Egypt, Greece and Persia, although
the game, as we have all come to know it, was developed in Britain in the late 19th century
(Longstreth, 2014) . It is said to be the oldest team sport in history (Girasole, 2010) . Field Hockey s
original name was the ball and stick game. Hockey was initially played with a cube, instead of
the ball we use today. Hockey was initially considered to be too dangerous for women, but it
became socially accepted when women were allowed to play sports such as lawn tennis and
croquette (Girasole, 2010). The first Women s field hockey team was formed in 1887 in England.
Hockey made its debut in the Olympics in 1908 and thus the International Hockey Federation was
assembled (Girasole, 2010). Today, field hockey is the second largest team sport in the world,
played in over 100 countries (McBryde, 2013).

factors such as men having higher testosterone levels, allowing them to build muscle mass faster,
and men having lower flexibility, the men would thus have to do more flexibility exercises in
order to abstain from injury. Another example would be that the links would have a different
training program to the goalkeeper. The links would have a greater emphasis on fitness and
speed, while the goalkeeper would have more of an emphasis on flexibility and skill, although
fitness would also be a large aspect. It is imperative that a goalkeeper knows how to save a goal and

Kaluza Klein Theory and Higher Dimensions
Kaluza Klein Theory and Higher Dimensions I. Introduction Human civilization has always been
characterized by our ceaseless curiosity and awe for what we do not comprehend. Our wonder for
what lies beyond the scope of our daily lives has been the driving force for innovation and
advancement. The intensity of our fascination for what lie beyond is consummately personified in
the late astrologer and philosopher Giordano Bruno(1548 1600). Captivated by gazing into the night
sky, Bruno dreamed of a homogenous universe(reference to phy 312) with a multitude suns with
earth like planets rotating about them just like our own solar system. Publicly hailed a heretic,
Bruno was rejected from scientific and religious communities alike. Even after being
excommunicated by three different churches and denounced at Oxford University, Bruno held on
tight to his beliefs. His ideas would eventually lead him to the stake where he was burned to death
on charges of heresy and opposing the catholic faith. Bruno s death served as indispensable sacrifice
for modern day cosmology and our scientific community. It ultimately marked the beginning of
humanity s questioning of whether our world is actually what tradition tells us. Whether if it was
Einstein questioning Newton s long held laws of motions or Bohr questioning Einstein s beliefs on
quantum mechanics, history has repeatedly shown that curiosity about what we do not know is
integral towards the advancement of science. In Bruno s

Although Ophelia was a minor character in the play Hamlet by William Shakespeare, almost

External Factors ( Or External Environment )
Case Study
External Factors (or External Environment)
During the 1970s and 1980s, the Republic of Korea achieved exceptional economic development.
However, the government focused on regional development rather than infrastructure development
(Hine Chelliah, 2009). Therefore, the rate of infrastructure investment had been decreasing in the
1980s in particular, which drove a lot of traffic bottlenecks in many regions, and high traffic
congestion costs in roads, railways, and seaports. At the beginning of the 1990s, the government
acknowledged the limits to fund the needed construction of infrastructure facilities and felt the need
to mobilize new sources to invest infrastructure (Kim et al., 2011).

The government modified this law again in January 2005. The revised Act established a specialized
agency ( Public Private Infrastructure Investment Management Center ) to provide technical
assistance to the Ministry of Strategy and Finance and procuring authorities. Also, the MRG was
amended due to excessive demand. In October 2009, the MRG program ended, and was replaced
by the support measurement of compensation of base cost, under which the government shares
investment risks within the limit of the government s cost, if the project was conducted as a
public project. Therefore, the changes in toll road PPP projects characteristics can be divided as
shown in Table 2 (Hine Chelliah, 2009; Kim et al., 2011).
Current Status of PPP highways
The first PPP highway is the Incheon International Airport Expressway completed in November
2000. As of 2015, there are 24 PPP highways in Korea, and 10 of them are operating, 8 projects
are under construction, 3 of them are in the planning stage and the remaining 3 projects are under
discussion. The total investment cost for 24 routes is 41.2 trillion won. The ratio of PPP
highways continuously increased after 2000, and the PPP highways account for 11% (460km) of
the total Korean national highways (4,139km) as of 2015. On the other hand, the PPP projects
were developed as solicited PPP projects, but since 2005, projects were in progress by unsolicited
projects.

The Importance Of Columbus Day
Several schools within the state of Michigan celebrate Columbus Day, a holiday honoring the man
that discovered the New World. However, Byron Center Public Schools does not. The question that
has been asked is whether we should start to celebrate the holiday, or continue not to. The answer
is that Byron Center should continue to not celebrate the holiday. Columbus day should not be
celebrated because of the negative effect his reign had on the Natives, he was not the first person
to discover the New World, and the damaging effect he had on biodiversity.
The main reason Columbus Day should not be celebrated is because of the negative effect
Columbus had on the Native people. Many sources of evidence have found that Columbus
mistreated the Native Americans. For instance, the Spanish wanted to convert the natives to the
Catholic church; however, the natives did not convert, so the Spanish resorted to violence to get
what they wanted. After the natives were conquered, the survivors were enslaved in the
Encomiendas system. Encomiendas was like slavery; the natives had to work without pay, and
were not allowed to leave the land without permission. Columbus and his men also raped,
murdered, and committed genocide against the people. Additionally, Columbus would force them
to give him more gold than they even had, and ravaged their land when they did not give it to him.
He abused the natives in many ways, which is why Columbus Day should not be celebrated.

Holden Caulfield Innocence
Innocence may be preserved in a child indefinitely. However, influences from both family and
society impose standards of maturity on children which gradually strip the youthfulness away from
a child. Additionally, children may isolate themselves or face ostracization, which leads to the
degradation of a childs purity as he begins creating his own unique worldview apart of his
community. Parents are the closest influence on a developing child. Therefore, their mature actions
are bound to accumulate over the child, instigating his growth from childhoodinnocence. This is
especially true when parents perform their intense habits in front of their kids. This is outlined by
Theodore Roethke who recalls his father through a poem. He states how... Show more content on

This leads to a loss of innocence as the child begins maturing individually and creating their own
unique worldview. J.D. Salinger Highlights this in Catcher in the Rye through Holden Caulfield,
and then reveals the huge remorse which this character faces for isolating himself. Near the end
of the novel Salinger reveals that Holden sort of [misses] everybody [he] told about... (Salinger)
his life and with whom he interacted. This demonstrates that Holden did have some meaningful
connections in his life at one time, but eventually lost them because of his isolation, which
caused a large amount of regret and loss of his innocence. This is most evident as Holden states
that he even missed that... Maurice... who was a pimp that solicited Holden earlier in the book.
That scene, in which Holden hired a prostitute, was the penultimate indicator that Holden was
isolating himself. Even though he is a teenager, Holden traveled to a city alone to perform mature
tasks in order to prove that maturity to himself. These grown up activities ultimately lead to
Holden s dissatisfaction with adulthood. By the end of this novel, Holden is stuck reminiscing
about his past and yearning to go back his childhood. Because of his isolation and desire to be
mature, Holden essentially lost all of his innocence and fully transformed from a child to an adult.
Similarly many children lose their innocence as a result of their own changing views of the world.
Seamus Heaney outlines this in Blackberry Picking where he states that, each year [he] hoped [his
blackberries would] keep but knew they would not. (Heaney) This is an important reminder that
time is the ultimate thief of childhood. Despite a lack of outside influences, Heaney compares his
childhood to blackberries to convey that eventually, both would rot. In time, he knew that nothing

A Comparison Of Willy Loman And Death Of A Salesman
Arthur Millers Death of a Salesman is considered to be both a playwright s masterpiece, and a
cornerstone contemporary American drama. The subtitles consist of a central private conversation
in two of the acts and a requiem. The play was first introduced in 1949 and begin to strike an
immediate emotional chord with audiences. The work of the playwould receive numerous awards,
and honors, including the most important one the Pulitzer Prize and the New York DramaCritics
Circle award. Both plays ran 742 performances on Broadway. The premiere Death of a Salesman
became one of the most performed and adapted plays in American theatrical history. With much of
the Millers family being attributed to the Miller s facility in the portraying of the universal hopes
and fears of the middle class Americans today. Arthur Miller uses Willy Loman as one of the main
characters. Miller examines the myth of the American Dream and with the shadows of promises of

Willy believes that if you can talk the right people into buying something, then you could end up
making a deal like the rich people. Willy also showed irresponsibility on his part of his family
when he would never care for his family and through work was more important than family. I

traveling salesman who made sales in hotel rooms and was well known, and liked. When he died
all salesmen, and buyers attend his funeral. This is what Willy wants and wished for. Dave
Singleman was an inspiration for being a salesman and the dream was the reason why he went into
sales and didn t leave for Alaska when his brother Ben urge him

Family As A Social Institution Of People
We all raised to believe that from the best thing that one can have is an ideal family and growing
up we all wanted to be raised in a peaceful, happy and secure family with loving parents who will
be there for us no matter what physically and mentally able to provide for the family where we
will be always welcomed by our parents and siblings alike and heard and respected all the time.
Sociologist define the familyas an intimate, domestic and primary group, a social institution of
people related to one another by blood or adoption with legal ties, it have three important social
functions: to provide and raise children, to provide a sense of identity, belonging and a set of
close and strong relations among its members and to transmit culture between generations. In the
modern societies, we prefer to think of a family as constructed of a mother, father, and children
living under one roof called a nuclear family , when it consist of several generations living
together or close by it s called extended family.
As we grow up also we can notice how much we are far from the ideal family, I lived with two
sisters from different fathers my mother went through three marriages she also raised as for a
long period as single mother we had some really hard times where my mom could barely support us
financially and mentally because she had to work for more and more hours so I had to raise my
younger sister instead in a very young age this was bad for me as I did not have a normal childhood

Gypsy of Wuthering Heights
Emily Bronte s novel is an important work in the 19th century, particularity when describing the
nature of people. One of the Characters, Heathcliff, is very interesting because his decent and
parentage is never truly defined. Because of this uncertainty, the reader is lead to believe
Heathcliff may have a Gypsy heritage. Gypsies were thought to be dark haired, dark skinned, dirty,
messy and uneducated. Gypsies were often objects of discrimination usually because they look
different from the typical whites and because of their traveling lifestyle made them people without
a nation or land. Heathcliff s gypsy ways are commonly attributed to the Irish Travelers. Heathcliff
s representation is based on this native Irish gypsy group. It... Show more content on

After being putdown by Hindley for the majority of his childhood, Heathcliff is now the victim
turned malefactor. Once he returns the roles of the characters in the book have changed. Heathcliff
plays on Hindley s gambling addiction and lends him money. Now Hindley is in debt to Heathcliff
and through exchange, Heathcliff wins Wuthering Heights. Heathcliff used to be savage and a
slave and now, Heathcliff owns Hindley and this makes Hindley seem more savage. Heathcliff
gains control of Wuthering Heights through gambling with Hindley, the previous owner of
Wuthering Heights. The Gypsies of the time period where thought to be skilled in gambling and
fortune telling. His envy of Edgar s handsomeness partly fuels his anger toward Edgar and
Catherine s choice to marry him. Heathcliff wants revenge on Edgar for stealing away Catherine.
So he takes advantage of Isabella, Edgar s sister, and marries her. [Heathcliff] seized, and thrust
[Isabella] from the room; and returned muttering I have no pity! I have no pity! The more the
worms writhe, the more I yearn to crush out their entrails! It is a moral teething; and I grind with
greater energy in proportion to the increase of pain. (151). Immediately, it is a loveless marriage
between Heathcliff and Isabella. He is so malicious to take revenge, which he engages in acts of
violence, for example hanging Isabella s dog.
Heathcliff has matured and now embodies the social status he has gained over

It is our dutyas Christians to know what we believe and where we stand so we can back up our beliefs and try to interact with this world as morally correct as possible. For example, Desert Storm, we had to take action against Iraq and Sadam because he left us no choice. If everyone who was a Christian decided that war was wrong and didn t fight, then we would have lost the war. As Christians, I believe it is our duty to try to avoid war, but when it become necessary we must take action. Even though we might not desire to be out on the front lines with the people who are actually doing the killing and combat, we must support our country. We can take roles in the army as non combatance if it is necessary for us to actually go out to war, but whatever we do it is our duty to our country to show support and be involved so we can make sure that the war is just for what is necessary and not taken out of hand. You see, if we stay out of war then our country and way of living will be threatened all together, but most of us do not wish to go in headfirst and kill everyone who opposes us. James Cook Research Paper James Cook transformed exploration with the use of modern technology to carry out his explorations, specifically the use of navigation technology and even the use of mathematics. Cook was a late bloomer in the age of exploration, but definitely made his mark, as he became one of the most accomplished explorers of all time. Cook used the latest scientific methods and techniques of cartography to chart his voyages to places such as Tahiti, Australia, New Zealand and of course Hawaii. This led to more explorers from other countries following his lead in later explorations during the 1700 s. The main reason Cook was put in the position to carry out these three voyages was because of his known skills and ability to use this technology. Cook was... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Cook further advanced the way explorers navigate, stated in the text the contribution to the solution of the long standing and very grave problem of calculating longitude was based upon the successful work of astronomers and watchmakers his advancement of surveying and cartography gave scope for much greater individuality (Price 6). Cook was one of the first to explore the Pacific and these technologies had evolved over the years to where he relied heavily on them. Cook relied on them to configure how much time and the distance it would take to sail to and from the various destinations. With this introduction to this new technology, Cook could now always get back home without loosing any crewman. Cook created many maps and to create accurate maps representing the explorations he went on, it was important that latitude and longitude were accurately determined. Luckily for Cook, navigators had been able to work out latitude accurately for centuries before him by measuring the angle of the sun with a certain instruments, these being a backstaff or quadrant. Longitude was certainly more difficult to measure accurately because it requires precise standpoints of the time difference between points on the surface of the earth. On his first voyage, Cook gathered accurate longitude measurements due to his navigational skills. Cook states, the appearance of this Cape and Hermites Islands is represented in the last view in the chart which I have drawn of this coast from our first making land unto Cape Horn in which is included Strait Le Maire and part of Staten land (Price 23). • 7. The Spectrophotometer Determinationof Iron in Teff Introduction The research question is: the spectrophotometer determination of iron in teff and a measure of the bio availability to suggest ways in which bio availability or absorption is increased and consequently anemia decreased. Iron is one of the most important elements that is needed by different living organisms. One of its functions is to control cell growth and aid in differentiation of cells. However, one of its most important responsibilities is found in hemoglobin. which is involved in allowing oxygen transport in portions of the blood. Iron is available in two oxidation states: Fe2+ and Fe3+. The one that is readily absorbed in the human body is Fe2+. Thus in this extended essay, I will focus on the concentration of Fe2+ in four cereals teff, wheat, maize and sorghum. Limited amounts of absorption of Fe2+ in the human body causes iron deficiency anemia. Iron deficiency anemia is when a person has a red blood cell count that is less than normal or when there are few hemoglobin molecules in each red blood cell. Consequences and effect of this to humans could be fatigue, headaches, palpitations, lethargy and etc. One of the causes of iron deficiency anemia is the bio availability of many grains and legumes. The less bio available or in other words the less absorbed the nutrients of the cereals we eat are, the prospect of iron deficiency anemia occurring becomes higher. I will show this need of Iron in the blood by first measuring the iron contents of the four ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. The Invasion Of Poland During The World War II On September 1, 1939, at approximately 4:45 A.M. Germany commenced their invasion of Poland (Bethell 1). The events that ushered in this invasion are complex, and help explain Hitler s intentions and goals. The invasion was preceded by Germany s vast re equipment, as well as its numerous diplomatic efforts. Hitler s September invasion was predicated on his strong belief that the war would be limited to a single enemy, Poland. Aware of Germany s economic and militaristic limitations, Hitler did not intend to start World War II when he invaded Poland in 1939. Rather, his plan was to avoid a world war until the mid to late 1940 s. The invasion of Poland on September 1, 1939 was preceded by a significant effort at negotiation between Germany and Poland. Germany s diplomatic attempts targeted two crucial goals. Their first objective was to persuade Poland to collaborate with them against the USSR. After being adamantly rejected, Germany s ambition turned towards regaining land lost to Poland in the Treaty of Versailles. From 1933 1939, German officials persistently presented proposals to Poland to ally against the common enemy, Russia (Budurowycz 20). After numerous failed diplomatic visits to Poland, Germany visited on January 25 27, 1939 in a final attempt at persuading Poland (Budurowycz 26). It is during this time that women came to have a very important role in the social and interpersonal workings of the court. Though there were still many restrictions upon them, women were able to express themselves as never before and faced a surprising degree of freedom and autonomy in a society that was defined by an immense amount of rigid formalities. One of the things I found to be most interesting from my findings were the power structures that developed within the court of Empress Fujiwara No Shoshi. Women as well as men not only exerted influence within the court but also developed pecking orders as well. Though, today, we have a rough idea of what this pecking order may have looked like with the Empress at the top followed by imperial consorts and the Empresses ladies in waiting, there appears to be no official documented hierarchal structure. Yet, although their may be no official documentation of this structure, evidence of these power structures can be found in the memoirs and works of women of the time, including Murasaki Shikibuand Sei Shonagon. In a society where one was defined almost entirely by their social standing, earning the title of Lady in Waiting was an extremely sought after goal. Although the title most certainly provided women within the court certain privileges over others, it also came with a great deal of anxiety and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It will try explain how negligence and malpractice drive up the cost of healthcare and how there has been a clamor tort reform, what would be the content of the reform and the expected outcome. Lastly the essay would prove to us that there is no indication since tort reform has been implemented, that points to a reduction in the cost of healthcare and the cost of running a healthcare organization in relation to paying high malpractice insurance. TORT Tort is a civil wrong for which a court of law provides remedy for a civil wrong that has been committed against an individual, Remedy could be sought for a personal loss, financial loss, and personal injury (Smith, 1993). A tort is simply the Norman word for a wrong but torts have typically been distinguished from crimes and from wrongs identified with contractual relations. Tort law, then, is concerned with civil wrongs not arising from contracts (White, 2003, p.xxiii).During the very early years of tort been introduced in to legal discourse and proceeding, tort was considered as a wrong that came by way or forceful damage or hurt. A religious recovery development called the Second Great Awakening, drove by Methodists and Baptists, changed the religious scene. Another political gathering, the Democrats, had blended around Andrew Jackson, coming full circle in his race as President in 1828 and disparaging the Adams organization s vision of patriotism. In the event that a voter needed financial autonomy, then it appeared that the individuals who controlled his work could undoubtedly control his vote. Humorously, pretty much as mechanical pay work made ward workers on a substantial new scale, the more seasoned republican duty to propertied voters dropped out of support. As property necessities for voting were annulled, financial status vanished as an establishment for citizenship. By 1840 more than 90 percent of grown up white men had the privilege to vote. Religion and freedom is a topic so critical and (in the First Amendment) an outcome so pivotal that it is hard to envision causal associations being overlooked in the pre Revolutionary period. Like slavery, sexual trafficking pimps use force to ensure that victims comply as well when being kidnapped from their homes violence is applied in which slavery has the same concept. Milestone 12: Case Study Eclipse Yujia Xie I.Introduction Eclipse is an open source Integrated Development Environment (IDE) for almost every computer programming language over a dozen platforms (Mac, Linux, Windows, etc.). In fact, it is one of the most popular IDEs nowadays for multiple programming languages, especially Java. Back in 2001, Eclipse 1.0 came out as a framework, a flexible architecture that served as the building tool for developers, providing a variety of accessible toolkits, private or public, to ease to process of programming. Over the course of time, Eclipse takes in developers feedbacks and enhances its accessibility and usability, releasing new versions with more functionality (i.e. Java Development Tools, Plug in Development Environment, Rich Client Platform, etc.). One of the core ideas behind Eclipse is to allow users (in this case developers) to write and share modules (i.e. toolkits), different from the previous IDEs that hides their individual building classes. For example, the pioneer Plug in Development Environment (PDE) for Eclipse was designed specifically for this purpose, allowing developers to build and test their own plugins that would later benefit the performance of Eclipse. • 24. Christopher Weaver on Obamacare This article by Christopher Weaver in the Wall Street Journal brings up some key points about the number of enrollees in Obamacare as the enrollment deadline closed on Monday. Along the way, the website has had its downfalls with the Congress shut down and technical issues. This may have hindered the number of people who potentially would have signed up but got frustrated during the process. It has been estimated that 7.1 million people have enrolled in the market place. The impact of this number on the health law is yet to be determined. It also is unseen how this will impact premiums in the long run, as well as if these insurancecompanies can maintain the plans offered on the exchange (Weaver, 2014). Furthermore, the effect of many of the provisions and mandates are yet to be seen; it will be an interesting next few years to see how it pans out. For example, Weaver asks how many of these millions were previously uninsured. The main point of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) was to attract the uninsured population to get insurance under the law. Prior to the implementation of the ACA, there were over 50 million uninsured in America. It is worth knowing how many of these people were just switching plans or how many of them are new to the health insurance market. This would be the better measure of the effectiveness of this law in regard to decreasing the total number of uninsured in America. Even though this will still leave some insured, there are some reasons this may be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To begin with, Poe uses imagery to help demonstrate symbolism; as he states, The disease had sharpened my senses not destroyed not dulled them, it tells the reader that most of the information was transmitted by his senses. For instance, on page 92 the narrator describes how the old man s eye resembled of a vulture through sight and this creates a situation where the reader shifts into the narrator s shoes. • 27. Vivaldi Instrumedeley Analysis The two concerts I have chosen are different in many ways, but the music itself has a lot in common. For the first concert I chose the progressive rock group Dream Theater. I chose the piece Instrumedley from their Live at Budokan video released in 2004. This video depicts the band setup on stage in the typical rock concertformat. The lighting is bright and multicolored. Unlike most rock concerts, the musicians do not animate themselves to excite the crowd. They rely on the mastery of their instruments to provide the excitement. The second concert is a performance of Vivaldi s Concerto Grosso in D minor. It is performed by the Franz Listz Chamber Orchestra. The setting is that of a small gothic church in Hungary. There is no audience as the venue is used solely for the acoustics. The band Dream Theater is an American progressive metal band formed in 1985. The members met while attending Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. Their music focuses on three core elements: metal, progressive roots and melody. Brief History Of Field Hockey Introduction: A Brief History Field hockey s origins can be traced back 4000 years to ancient Egypt, Greece and Persia, although the game, as we have all come to know it, was developed in Britain in the late 19th century (Longstreth, 2014) . It is said to be the oldest team sport in history (Girasole, 2010) . Field Hockey s original name was the ball and stick game. Hockey was initially played with a cube, instead of the ball we use today. Introduction Human civilization has always been characterized by our ceaseless curiosity and awe for what we do not comprehend. Our wonder for what lies beyond the scope of our daily lives has been the driving force for innovation and advancement. The intensity of our fascination for what lie beyond is consummately personified in the late astrologer and philosopher Giordano Bruno(1548 1600). Captivated by gazing into the night sky, Bruno dreamed of a homogenous universe(reference to phy 312) with a multitude suns with earth like planets rotating about them just like our own solar system. Publicly hailed a heretic, Bruno was rejected from scientific and religious communities alike. Even after being excommunicated by three different churches and denounced at Oxford University, Bruno held on tight to his beliefs. His ideas would eventually lead him to the stake where he was burned to death on charges of heresy and opposing the catholic faith. Bruno s death served as indispensable sacrifice for modern day cosmology and our scientific community. It ultimately marked the beginning of humanity s questioning of whether our world is actually what tradition tells us. Whether if it was Einstein questioning Newton s long held laws of motions or Bohr questioning Einstein s beliefs on quantum mechanics, history has repeatedly shown that curiosity about what we do not know is integral towards the advancement of science.
