This document discusses the IEEE Student Activities Committee awards and plans to improve the awards process. It provides details on the various award categories and highlights growth in nominations between 2011 and 2012 after standardizing award information and creating an automated online nomination system. Challenges discussed include developing nomination templates for all awards and improving the evaluation process as nominations increase exponentially. The 2013 plans include reviewing award criteria, recruiting an awards evaluation committee, and defining regional and MGA responsibilities for managing the process. Initial proposals are made for distributing nominations to regional committees before central evaluation or using a horizontal evaluation approach.
