Pros And Cons Of Agricultural Subsidies
In late 1920, early 1930 s, the government of the United States of America (USA) first initiated efforts
to control the agricultural economy during the great depression. During that period of time, farm
prices collapsed and therefore farmers hardly had any income. Subsidies are benefits given by the
state to specific groups needing financial aid in form of cash or tax reduction. Subsidies are often
considered to be in the interest of the general public. Agricultural subsidies therefore exist to stabilize
food prices, ensure a healthy food production, guaranteeing a farmer s basic income and in general to
strengthen the agricultural part of the economies gross domestic product (GDP) (encyclopedia.com,
agricultural subsidies). In reality however, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since there are farmers with more financial opportunities, smaller farms would suffer from the
inequality that would be present, as they can not afford high priced equipment and machinery to
expand their production or to even invest in new crops. However, when the government decides on
subsidies, especially the smaller farms profit from the extra cash, as they can now afford to keep up
with the competition. This means that subsidies enable the smaller farms to produce at an optimal
level of production. Therefore, financial aids by the state also aim to prevent that there is a monopoly
of one farmer since a monopoly would damage the whole agricultural industry. In contrast to
monopoly, competition plays an important role, not only in the agricultural, but in any industry. A
healthy competition leads to a variety of products the consumer can choose from at an affordable price
since a high contestability leads to prices going down to average cost at some point because of the
constant undercutting in

George Mccready Price ( Or George Edward Price
George McCready Price (or George Edward Price) was born in 1870 and died in 1963. Price had a
reputation as being an influence on creationism among people he met (Numbers, p. 89). His father
died when George was very young and his mother joined an SDA church on the aftermath of the
Millerite movement and during this period was when Ellen G White began having her visions and
Seventh day Adventism was becoming known as Bible people (Numbers, p.89 90). Ellen G White
support creationism by endorsing that Noah s flood did happen and that it change the world s surface
and buried fossils which helped formed mountains, hills and trees (Numbers, p. 90). Price, married an
Adventist lady who was twelve years older than him, he had a job selling books, but then decided to
go to Battle Creek College to get an education in teaching, but he ran out of funds which force him to
work as a bookseller again but in 1897, he got a job working as a teacher at Tracadie (Numbers p. 91).
This was my first time learning about George Price, I was shocked to read that he married someone
twelve years older than him. Price was a strong believer and supporter of Creationism but he made
friends with people who were not like Dr. Alfred Smith, who got him to research evolution (Numbers,
p. 91). As a result of his many years of research, Price published a 271 page book on the cons of
evolution and the development of Darwinism (Numbers p. 92 93). Price even worked as a pastor on
Prince Edward Island but got

Analysis Of The Book Youth And Ghost By Adam...
The historians who begin the 20th century with the First World War do so because of the great change
in thinking brought about during and after the fighting: people became less friendly toward
colonialism; people s roles in their societies were often not the same after the war, most of all women,
and where other methods failed to, a new kind of nationalism could perhaps help them to rebuild their
identities as they rebuilt their countries. Various sources about the time can be used to examine it from
different angles and draw different conclusions about it: Vera Brittain s Testament of Youth, for
example, is a primary source and a memoir, assembled from her own diaries and letters sent from
around the turn of the century, and has the unique flavor of being a woman s perspective during the
war. King Leopold s Ghost by Adam Hochschild is a secondary source and a collection of stories all
looking at the same subject colonialism in Africa, the Congo in particular and it provides multiple
views through different eyes. The chapter On Humanity in Dark Times: Thoughts about Lessing from
Hannah Arendt s book Men in Dark Times is also a secondary source, as the book is a collection of her
own essays and thus likely has notes of personal reflection as Brittain s memoir would while bringing
in the facts and somewhat journalistic observation of King Leopold s Ghost. Ernest Hemingway s The
Sun Also Rises, while a work of fiction, is a novel that focuses on characters dealing with the

Personal Fiscal Responsibility
Research Question: I am researching student fast food workers attending SUNY schools in the North
Country because I want to find out how the financial gains affect their overall personal fiscal
responsibility, in order to understand how students in this industry can put themselves through
schooling.
Object Domain: My object domain would be limited to students attending either SUNY Canton or
SUNY Potsdam that work within the fast food industry to support themselves. I would limit this
further by only selecting candidates with this as their primary source of income, as individuals with
secondary jobs would complicate the data set. I would survey roughly 50 students of unequal portions

Why Geography Matters More Than Ever By Harm De Blij
Geography is an important factor to consider when you look at this worlds past, present, or future. So
whether it be the earths physical geographic features, the geopolitics stirring up trouble across the
globe, or the economics of growing or shrinking countries; geography plays a major role. In todays
society, geographic knowledge is one of the most important and valuable tools to possess. Without it,
we are victims of ignorance and endanger ourselves, others, and the world. This ignorance, possessed
by many, is posing a great risk of self destruction. The author of Why Geography Matters More Than
Ever , Harm de Blij, makes many strong points on this matter, but occasionally makes unsupported
and unclear statements which tend to stray off topic. Lets get right to the point. There is no such thing
as global warming. This provocative statement presented by the author makes ... Show more content

He feared the Soviet Unions deviationism ha tainted his Maoist communism. So he mobilized young
people in china, forming the Red Guards and shutting down schools. These kids were encouraged to
attack bourgeois and root out enemies of the system, including family members. The results of this
were devastating. The economy was left struggling to survive, people and elders were mistreated for
things they didn t do, and there were as many as 30 million casualties. After explaining this and how
Maos death practically saved china, the author makes this statement. On July 28, 1976, twin
earthquakes struck near the city of Tangshan...the death toll...may have exceeded 700,000 people...The
chairmen for life died on September 9, just six weeks after Tangshan. It probably was no coincidence.
This quote suggests that a political reaction was connected to Maos death. Practically a conspiracy
theory, the author never backs it up with any evidence, proof, or reason. This weakens the overall

Analysis Of The Dead By Charlie Higson
This summer, I read the book The Dead by Charlie Higson is a novel about a large group of kids, left
to live by themselves without guidance from their parents. In this run down setting of London,
England, people who are over the age of 16 turn into kid hunting, flesh eating zombies. The younger
kids are forced to live on their own, fighting for life against the wrath of the Adults. The message
Higson showed in his book is: after people are forced to rely on themselves without experience, their
lack of experience and knowledge will lead them to failure.
In the novel, the kids face constant fear and by telling the story from a 3rd person omniscient point of
view, Higson can really show how they are forced to only appeal their need for survival. The adults
are a mysterious entity to the kids. Since they are doing things only to live, their actions are limited.
We think there s something in us that adults need to eat in order to stay alive, (375). They move in
groups to keep support between the kids, and by doing this, their fear of adults is slightly eased.
Connecting the fact that the kids are living in fear to that London is big, the kids are constantly
moving. The possibilities of adults attacking the kids at any point are endless. And when it had gotten
really bad, when those adults who d gotten sick but hadn t died had started to turn on the kids,
attacking them like wild animals, (8). These kids start to constantly move because of their fear. This

Ultra-Violence In A Clockwork Orange
Discussions about literature and their adaptions, what they are and how they relate to tradition and
society prompts the question, how does the ultra violence fit in? In A Clockwork Orange, ultra
violence plays a key role in the overarching theme and tension within the novel and its Stanley
Kubrick s 1972 adaptation of the same name. The act of violence is paired with use of classical music
which incorporates happiness and pleasure with the act of evil. The use music to create tension within
A Clockwork Orange translates into tradition and modern society.

August 2015 INTRODUCTION
Biometric authentication has been receiving extensive attention over the past decade with increasing
demands in automated personal identification. Biometrics is to identify individuals using
physiological or behavioral characteristics, such as finger print, face, iris, retina, palm print, etc.
Among all the biometric techniques, fingerprint recognition is the most popular method and is
successfully used in many applications. Typical fingerprint recognition methods employ feature based
image matching, where minutiae (i.e., ridge ending and ridge bifurcation) are extracted from the
registered fingerprint image and the input fingerprint image, and the number of corresponding
minutiae pairings between the two images is used to recognize a valid fingerprint image. The feature
based matching provides an effective way of identification for majority of people.
However, it has been known that there are a number of people whose fingerprints could not be
identified by the feature based methods due to special skin conditions, where feature points are hard to
be extracted by image processing. The ratio of

Analysis Of Our Divided Political Heart By John F....
Let us not seek the Republican answer or the Democratic answer, but the right answer. Let us not seek
to fix the blame for the past. Let us accept our own responsibility for the future, quoted by John F.
Kennedy at the Loyola college alumni banquet. E.J. Dionne is a political journalist and commentator
for The Washington Post also a University Professor in the Foundations of Democracy and Culture at
the McCourt School of Public Policy. In Dionne s book, Our Divided Political Heart, he talks about
how American citizens cannot agree on who we are because we cannot agree on whom we have been.
The American custom, Dionne expresses, points not to be self sufficient and selfish, but to even out
our compassion of individual freedom and our loyalty to the public. Understanding of our nation s
history, Dionne shows an insightful examination of how self reliance is toxic to our present political
ambience. He participates the Tea Party s involvement with American history, but also shows it s
catastrophic past while supporting the Wall Street movement in America s public and Populist
traditions.
Dionne asserts that the American past has continuously been described by friction between the basic
morals of individualism and community. Americans have treasured liberty, independent opportunity
and self individualism and still maintaining the significance of the general public s duty and civic
morality. The founders indicate these morals as liberalism and republicanism, and the attempt

Essay on Risks and Effects of West Nile Virus
Risks and Effects of West Nile Virus
West Nile Virus has many effects on the human body as well as on the bodies of other animals. West
Nile is an extremely dangerous virus that attacks the Central Nervous System. It can cause
inflammation of tissues in and around the brain and spinal cord. In humans, there are three levels of
West Nile Virus, which have different symptoms. Humans can also get specific diseases such as
encephalitis from West Nile Virus. West Nile Virus also affects animals. Wild birds and horses are the
most susceptible to the virus and most animal deaths occur in these species. Dogs and cats are much
less likely to contract the disease. The only way for a human or animal to get the disease is to be bitten

Second, some people will show mild symptoms in response to infection. Third, a small percent of
individuals who contract West Nile Virus will develop severe symptoms and other dangerous diseases.
The incubation period for West Nile Virus is
Risks and Effects of West Nile Virus 2 three to fifteen days. This is from the time of the initial
infection to the time when symptoms set in. (CDC, 2005).
Eighty percent, or four out of five, of individuals who are diagnosed with having West Nile Virus,
have an asymptomatic case of the disease. This means that these people will not show any symptoms
connected with West Nile Virus and the only way to find out it if they have the disease is to test for it.
The West Nile test involves measuring the levels of the IgM antibody in the bloodstream, which can
help to diagnose the disease. (CDC, 2005)
Individuals with mild symptoms of West Nile Virus make up about twenty percent of the populations
of infected humans. This form of the disease is known as West Nile Fever. The symptoms of West Nile
Fever include: fever, headache, tiredness, body aches, nausea, vomiting, swollen lymph glands, and a
skin rash appearing on the back, chest or stomach. A headache and high fever are the most common
indicators for a West Nile Virus infection. These mild symptoms can last anywhere from a few days to
several weeks. (California Government, 2005).
Severe West Nile Virus is known as neuroinvasive disease, because it

A Different Mirror By Takaki Essay
Takaki s book, A Different Mirror, offers the multicultural history of the United States. This book
provides the reader with the American experience of Native Americans, African Americans, Mexican
Americans, Irish Americans, Chinese Americans, Japanese Americans, and Jewish Americans. During
this time, America demonstrated manifest destiny and the Master Narrative. They were led by the
belief of white purity, which these ethnic groups threatened. America exhibited supremacy over all of
these ethnic groups. Takaki s work allows me to become aware of the history and the outcomes of
manifest destiny and the Master Narrative.
Some of the behavior, perspectives, and experiences present in the multicultural history of the United
States are: manifest destiny, master narrative, education, labor treatment, interminority racism, and
attempting to prove to be American. Manifest destiny is the belief that America s decision to divide
and conquer was valid. The Native Americans are one example where manifest destiny can be applied
to their experience and perspective on their viewpoint of American. They were driven out of their land
by a contract signed by a fraction of the Native Americans. Likewise, the Irish Americans were
stripped of their independence and their land was taken from them. Similarly, the African Americans
experienced the divide and conquer when they were distinguished as slaves. The Mexican Americans
had one half of Mexico claimed by America (California, New Mexico,

Examples Of Overcoming Fear
The Prison Within Overcoming fear
Overcoming fear introduction
There is a prison that has an inmate population in the billions. It s a prison without walls, without
barbed wire, without guards and without any physical barrier. But it is the most effective prison in the
whole world. Few escape it, but those who do find real and lasting freedom.
That prison is in our minds. It is a prison that holds back our initiative, our talent, our ability to
express ourselves and, most of all, it holds back the fulfilment of our full potential as human beings.
That prison is fear. Our lives today are controlled by fear more than we know. Fear controls the
choices we make, our actions, our habits and even our destinies. Fear has become one of the greatest

It will absolutely stop you from living a life that you desire. Recognise it. Conquer it. Eleanor
Roosevelt s advice is that you gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which
you really stop to look fear in the face. You must do the thing which you think you cannot do.
Overcoming fear there s nothing to fear but fear itself
I m sure you have had an experience in the past when you really feared something. After doing it how
did you feel. Silly? Stupid? The feeling is often one of that wasn t so hard after all. I don t know what
I was afraid of. Trying to fight fear is like trying to fight the dark. You can t do it. The way to get rid of
darkness is to bring in the light. The way to get rid of your fears is to conquer them. Do the thing you
fear to do and keep on doing it... that is the quickest and surest way ever yet discovered to conquer
fear ( Dale Carnegie).
Overcoming fear you can do it today
Go ahead and start that business you want to start. Go ahead and study what you really want to study.
Go ahead and become a musician, poet, artist, fashion designer or whatever else you want to do. Sure
you might fail, but you might succeed too. Take the risk today and conquer your fears. Do you want to

Lindsey Stirling s Shatter Me Featuring Lzzy Hail and Freshly Ground s Pot Belly, depict two
different categories of perception: perceptions of oneself and perceptions of others. These perceptions,
though diverse, show a modern day view of how people are characterized and viewed externally. The
latter music video reveals two people and their perceptions of each other; in contrast, the first video
displays one person s view of not only themselves, but also the world around them. Viewed side by
side, both videos show how perceptions shape the tolerance and the understanding people have about
themselves. Together, these videos show that most perceptions are not fully factual, but rather are

glass globe, the stereotype of who she perceives herself to be, but more importantly, by the way she
perceives others view her and expect her to act. While imprisoned in this globe, she feels she cannot
act upon her own volition as she can only reanimate once a key is turned.
As Lindsey Stirling s video continues, it becomes clear that the ballerina is tired and unhappy with this
banal routine. An effective picture is painted of the warped perception she has of herself and,
conversely, her view of the world. This is especially highlighted when she observes light coming from
outside the globe and a spark of hope appears on her face. This, in turn, motivates her to shatter the
glass surrounding her, but she is unsuccessful in this attempt, despite the appearance of cracks in the
glass. Before long, the music stops and she becomes lifeless. Once again, the key is turned, and the
ballerina reanimates and commences with what is expected. At this point in the video, the trapped
ballerina catches a glimpse of a butterfly outside the globe before it morphs back into the bat she has
always seen. This brings the realization that perhaps her view and perceptions are not what they seem
and this galvanizes her. She gathers up

who becomes conflicted upon his duties after meeting Colonel Joll. As the antagonist of the novel,
Colonel Joll coincides with the depraved actions of the Empire, one of the most prominent being

Through this comparison, however, he subliminally reveals that he is actually aware the girl at the inn
has an interior, one that he admits he deliberately disregards. Likewise, the Magistrate is completely
aware that the barbarian girl, too, has an interior. He degrades her by saying she does not, yet his quest
to figure her out consumes him. Also, instead of blatantly stating that she has no interior, he uses the
words as if. In this way, he suggests that there is an interior, perhaps one that he just has not found yet.
His failed attempts, then, bring him to refer to her as a body that has fallen into his bed that he seems
responsible [for], or so it seems, otherwise why do I keep it? Unlike how he refers to the inn girl
specifically as a sexual object, the barbarian girl is only sought as an object because the Magistrate
grows frustrated from her reluctance to open up to him. When he says, But of this one there is nothing
I can say with certainty, he refers to the barbarian girl as this one. This shows that he thinks of women
as attainable objects that he can easily control. In contrast to the girl at the inn, the barbarian girl is
impervious to his force. Because the Magistrate is not able to assert his dominance to gain control
over the barbarian girl, he grows frustrated and his curiosity morphs into an obsession. The

Life Pi By Yann Martel And The Movie Life Of Pi Directed...
Many famous novels have been rearranged in order to make movies. However, the quality of the
movie, a lot of the times, depends on the changes made when adapting the novel to film. The director
of the movie needs to make sure that the film does not cut off significant parts, and at the same time,
abstain from the unnecessary parts the writer made without changing the whole theme. Moreover, they
need to add in more characters and scenes to make the film more creative and understandable. In this
essay, the comparison of differences in the novel Life of Pi by Yann Martel and the movie Life of Pi
directed by Lee Ann will be discussed.
The setting has not changed when it is transferred to the movie. The settings are: Pondicherry, India;

What books cannot achieve is the sceneries and effects that film can include. Compare to the book,
Lee created more stunning scenes using special effects. When the readers reach to the point of Pi

sunken scene of the ship Tsimtsum is tiny compared to Titanic , but at the moment of the ship sank,
when Pi is floating on the dark ocean in the night, the drowning feeling that audiences can experience
certainly is not worse than Titanic .
Lee used lots of scenes and background music to bring immersive feeling to the audiences. When it

The Transition From Art Nouveau To Art Deco
English Decorative Arts: The Transition from Art Nouveau to Art Deco
Parallels can be seen running throughout the two movements and the following essay highlights the
similarities and differences within the two styles and the causes of the fall from one and the rise of the
other.
Art Nouveau was likewise strongly influenced by the Pre Raphaelite movement which contained
prominent artists such as Edward Burne Jones and John William Waterhouse (Meagher, 2017). This
romantic style exhibited a return to nature; common themes were leaves, flowers, tendrils, and insects.
Whiplash curves and flowing lines were prominently featured. Art Nouveau portrayals of women were
erotic and sensual and many images depicted nudes and these images were originally shocking to the
public (Hoffman, 2017) . Artists preferred a pallet of natural colours with soft muted tones of browns,
olive greens, blues, and mustard yellow (Marinica, 2017). Advertisers procured these images and
adopted the style to produce posters and newspaper advertisements promoting a variety of goods. The
Czech artist Alphonse Mucha produced works of this type ( Alphonse Maria Mucha Complete Works
2017 , 2017).
Artisans of the Aesthetic movement advocated art for art s sake and created works purely for beauty
and never for function (Easby, 2017). James Abbot McNeil Whistler the artist who painted Whistlers
Mother, was associated with this genre ( James Abbott McNeill Whistler 1834 1903 | Tate , 2017).

Ohio Prison Health Care Case Study
Ohio Prison Health Care Suit The Ohio Justice and Policy center documented a claim in 2003 for
three prisoner s Rodney Fussell, Gary Roberts, and James Love. The prisoners stated that they
obtained incompetent medical care. Although some may argue, they are prisoners and do not deserve
medical care, they still have the legal right to obtain it. These three men suffered from Hepatitis C, and
periodontal disease.
An Overview
Rodney Fussell was an inmate at Southern Ohio Correctional Facility, who suffered with Hepatitis C.
According to Hep C Hope, Hepatitis C is a contagious liver disease that can lead to serious problems
including cirrhosis and liver cancer. To be treated, it is necessary to be prescribed medication, before
the disease is too progressed. Rodney Fussell was told that he contained a high level of liver enzymes
for a long period, but had not received diagnosis until five years later. When Fussell realized that he

The Sea s Ability Of An Intertidal Rock Platform
Introduction
The sea s ability to produce an intertidal rock platform was first commented on as early as 1846 by
Ramsey, and then decisively classified into four themes by Trenhaile (1980), which is still relevant to
scientist studying the formations today. The four themes are: 1) the role of marine and subaerial
processes in platform development; 2) morphology of shore platforms; 3) modelling platform
development; and 4) measuring rates of erosion (Stevenson 1, 2000). Research has commonly
assumed that the origins of the shore platform are wave cut, however in recent years there has been
research into a wider range of platforms and process leading to more theories.
Defining and Distinguishing between Shore Platforms
In order attempt to distinguish between different types of shore platforms, the most basic form of
description is those, which slope seaward, and then those with a distinctive seaward edge
characterised by a cliff (Stephenson et al., 2013). Sunamura has helped characterize those cliffs with
the use of calling the slope edge a Type A Platform and a Cliff edge and a Type B Platform, this is
represented in Figure 1. Fig. 1. A visual representations of shore platform categories as described by
Sunamura (1992) in Kennedy (2015).
Morphological Approaches
It is a contentious issue amongst researchers as to whether weathering or wave erosion have a bigger
role in the development of a shore platform. Bartrum, 1935; Hills, 1972) both regard wave erosion as

Girl Scout Interview
For my profile I interviewed a longtime friend and sister Girl Scout of mine. She goes by the name of
Rosie Houck. Girl Scout Programs build the confidence, courage, and character of the girls that will
one day be leading society to the future. Each year girls from around the world put all of the things
that they have learned about people and helping others to the test. There are three major awards that
can be earned in Girl Scouts, the bronze, the silver and the gold. Rosie Houck has completed all three
of them. An accomplishment that is obtained by fewer and fewer girls each year. I have always loved
helping people, said Rosie. Standing at a staggering height of five foot zero, Rosie isn t exactly tall.

Implementing High Cognitive Demand Tasks
To implement high cognitive demand tasks, we need to plan for the tasks accordingly to promote
reasoning and problem solving skills, help our students to explain and justify the answers, give the
students chance to discuss and validate the results, and ask students to explain their thinking about the
math concepts. I divided each class into teams of four to work collaboratively on the tasks. Another
strategy I did during these tasks was revise and find different ways to make the tasks easier to start and
complete within the groups. I learned how to explain and the task thoroughly, I walked around the
room more, checking up on the groups. If students had any questions, comments, or thoughts about
the task they could asked me while I was walking around the room. I asked my students many
different questions like inviting, probing, pressing, waiting, orienting, re voicing, connecting, and
explaining questions to help them start or continue solving the task. These questions would extend
their knowledge of the concepts and make them think deeply about solving and justifying their
answers. I needed to prepare well planned intentional questions, think about the barriers and the
challenges such as previous knowledge. To help the all the students in engaging with the task, we need
to allow them enough time to work on the task. During these tasks students work together as a team to
meet the goal of how to solve the quadratic equations? and how can they use different ways and

Unless you want to pay for your actions, replied LongJohn Fisherman. What do you mean, asked
Selena. What I mean is that there is dangerous stuff around these railroads, and you should not be

through stuff down on these railroads, then something happened and the kid disappeared, strongly
replied LongJohn Fisherman. Maybe we should listen to him, said Jacy. No, this man doesn t know
what he is talking about, yelled Zack. Yea, I ve been in this town for 2 years and I never heard
anything wrong with the railroad, commented Ramon. Then they drove away, not even caring what the

Essay The Gospel of Mark
INTRODUCTION
At the risk of being judgmental this book is very complicated. The points are many and varied. In his
lead up to his commentary proper Myers makes many points as he expounds the many topics that
would influence that commentary. The World of Jesus and the World of Mark, the filters and models
of that social world, the cross cultural history and the socio economic tensions of both worlds are all
considered. The Jewish War is also a point to consider in that it occurs around the time of writing and
most of the historicity comes from the works of Josephus. The major point to consider however is
Myers self confessed socio historical hermeneutic.

The hypotheses on how this Gospel originated are many and varied. The continuity of the actual
message of the story of the life of Jesus seems, it would be generally agreed, to hinge on the Gospel of
Mark being a source for the other Synoptic gospels at least. Much argument has also gone on about
the place and time of writing of Mark and how this influences the traditioning or the handing on of the
story. How the original written version came to be from the oral process is also a cause for the concern
as regards continuity of the story. Was it faithfully translated?
Nineham states that Jesus very character was determined by the particular circumstances in which the
tradition was handed down. Those who kept it shaped the tradition itself. They had their own motives
and beliefs and these have influenced the tradition that has brought out the character of Jesus as we
know today (Nineham 1986: 21).
This traditioning was a process that began by orally recounting the story at private or public
gatherings. The public gatherings being more favoured because preachers or teachers, that is those
entrusted with the traditioning process, would have told the story at worship or catechumen gatherings
(Nineham 1986: 22).
As is sometimes the practice with preaching today so it may have been in the first century. Anyone
telling the story would be driven by a particular need of the time, for example if a message on good
neighbours was needed then the

The Book Thief And V For Vendetta
Autocracy in a government calls for rebellion due to the lack of control and corruption. As a result the
many representations of significant values are elucidated in the novel The Book Thief by Markus
Zusak and the film V for Vendetta by James McTeigue emphasising the concepts of totalitarianism and
rebellion by subjected governments. The Book Thief parallels with the contextual influences of the
Nazi Party ruled by Adolf Hitler in the 1930s. Whereas V for Vendetta draws a direct correlation from
the horrendous acts in Iraq governed by George Bush subsequent to the infamous attack of 9/11. V for
Vendetta is a mirroring film of the contextual influence of the terror attack of 9/11 in 2001, during
George Bush s presidency. It ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It represents the significant idea that it allows people to come to a realisation that values such as
rebellion occurs due to the manipulation and wrongful domination of the government. Furthermore,
the rebellious acts presented within V for Vendetta is also showcased through the Book Thief, in
which Zusak successfully displays the contextual influences of the Nazi s party. Its purpose is to
further gain understanding of the impact of rebellion in the representation of the significant idea that
there is always beauty in the wake of brutality. If we re fast we won t get caught. He started dispersing

The Digital Of Digital Image
There has been an explosive growth in use of internet and World Wide Web and also in multimedia
technology and it s applications recently. This has facilitated the distribution of the digital contents
over the internet. Digital multimedia works (video, audio and images) become available for
retransmission, reproduction, and publishing over the Internet. A large amount of digital data is
duplicated and distributed without the owner s consent. This arises a real need for protection against
unauthorized copy and distribution. Hence it became necessary to build some secure techniques for
legal distribution of these digital contents. Digital Watermarking has proved to be a good solution to
tackle these problems. It discourages the copyright violation and help to determine the authenticity
and ownership of the data.
A Digital image watermarking systems have been proposed as an efficient means for copyright
protection authentication of digital image content against unintended manipulation (spatial chromatic).
Watermarking techniques tries to hide a message related to the actual content of the digital signal,
watermarking is used for providing a kind of security for various type of data (it may be image, audio,
video, etc). Digital watermarking generally falls into the visible watermarking technology and hidden
watermarking technology visible and invisible watermarks both serve to deter theft but they do so in
very different ways.
Watermarking is identified as a major technology

On Truth And Lies In A Nonmoral Sense Summary
In On Truth and Lies in a Nonmoral Sense , one of many things that Friedrich Nietzsche argues is that
humans do not really hate lying, but they do hate the bad consequences that come with lying. He
states, What they hate is basically not deception itself, but rather the unpleasant, hated consequences
(453). Nietzsche explains that lying is useful and we as humans all make use this tool. We seem to
ignore the fact that we are lying when it benefits us, although we do not accept the use of this tool
when it has a bad effect on society, or on ourselves. In Saint Manuel Bueno Martyr one of the main
characters, Don Manuel, lies to his village and makes them think that he believes in the afterlife when
in reality he does not. I think Nietzsche

Symptoms And Symptoms Of Migraine
Migraines
Migraine is a painful headache that comes with recurrent throbbing affecting usually one side of the
head. It occurs with symptoms like nausea, vomiting, fatigue, and sensitivity to light and sound.
According to Allexa Hammond and Maura Holcomb, MD, migraine has five stages. In the first stage
(also called Prodromal), the patient will experience depression, a stiff neck, and cognitive dysfunction.
The second stage (the aura) affects the visual (scotomata) area, sensation (paresthesia of the hands,
arms and face), and cognitive capability. In the third stage (the peak stage), the patient will undergo
throbbing pain, nausea, anxiety, irritability, impairment in concentration, and photophobia (extreme
sensitivity to light). The fourth stage is the resolution of the headache for several hours, possibly
aroused by vomiting or deep sleep. The last stage is the recovery stage; the patient will feel fatigue,
become depressed and sometimes have a euphoric mood. Not much about the cause of migraine is
known, but genetics and environmental factors may play a role. It may be caused by changes in the
brainstem, or imbalances in brain chemicals like serotonin, which helps regulate pain in our nervous
system. Jimenez Diaz and associates have indicated that, during the migraine attack, there is a release
of a substance more stable than acetylcholine, which they term S.A.C. acetylcholinelike substance.
They also conclude that the normal choline acetylate system is different in

Out Of The Depth Summary
Out of the Depths is a very interesting narrative book about retired Marine Edgar Harrell surviving the
sinking of the USS Indianapolis in 1945. Harrell grew up on a farm in Kentucky, as a little boy he
listened to the radio about the Naval Wars and Marines losing their lives, so he decided he wanted to
help. When Harrell became 18, he registered for the draft right away. The massive cruiser, the USS
Indianapolis, became his life and, more importantl, became his home. He lived on this ship serving
and fighting for his country. He remembers very precisely about the one time he saw a Japanese
Kamikaze plane hit the ship in the battle for Okinawa. He survived the attack, but nine of his friends
tragically lost their lives. The ship had to return to the states as needed for repairs, because the
Indianapolis had important components for the atomic bombs to drop on Nagasaki and Hiroshima.
While there, he noticed that the captain said that their next assignment was to head for the Philippines
to invade Japan. Harrell stated to the captain that it was necessary to have an escort through the seas to
that area as the US has already lost 129 soldiers due to Japanese attacks ... Show more content on

he could think of as he was struggling to escape from the deadly waters was his mom, dad, 6 brothers,
two sisters, and his girlfriend that said she would wait for him to come home. Harrell thinking of this
recalled to himself, I want to live, I don t want to die . He says that millions of things were going
through his brain. Him and 900 to 1,200 men who survived the attack were stranded in the sea, oil
soaked, holding onto anything that

Tejano Conjunto Analysis
Elaborating on the modernist thrust of Tejano conjunto, Peña addresses the musical innovation during
the post war period and attributes these changes to los músicos modernos Valerio Longoria, Tony De
La rosa, Paulino Bernal, and Rubén Vela. The introduction of modern instruments, such as Longoria s
use of the modern dance band drums, was surely the most radical innovation ever made within the
tradition of conjunto. Dropping the tambora de rancho created an entirely new dimension in that it
altered the function of all the other instruments in the conjunto. Characterizing Tony De La Rosa as
the most influential, Peña states De La Rosa standardized the use of modern drum. Clearly, the

Nicu Case Studies
INTRODUCTION It is common consensus that the levels of light and noise in a Neonatal Intensive
Care Unit (NICU) ward has always been and presently unacceptable, although historically there has
been ongoing debate about the exact level and type of impact this environment has on preterm infants
in terms of their sleep patterns and neuropsychological development. There has been some support by
substantial research that has previously found stimulation in the NICU has a detrimental effect on the
development, growth and quality of sleep of infants. Long term implications have also been found to
have a negative effect on the motor and neurological functioning of preterm infants. However, other
studies argue that they had found no significant effects ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is important to provide premature babies with the many undisturbed rest hours they require for their
development, health and well being. The investigation was done by three different principal designers
and a team in three stages, understanding the problem (vision building), verifying (specifying) by
conducting a feasibility study, and project management (preparation for strict development). Despite
the positive results of many academic and company studies, several physicians reported in personal
communication that the actual sound levels at the ward has only changed marginally (if at all) over the
years. Sound levels at the NICU are problematic for the neonate infants, because noise is a direct
cause of long lasting auditory problems and a significant cause of neurologic impairment,
cardiovascular and respiratory problems. There were new technology measures proposed to minimise
or overcome these problems, including a central system connecting all medical equipment, centrally
controlled sound generating units with redesigned sounds and user interfaces. Despite only having
found two studies on the variable of movement, both researchers agreed that movement
(tactile/kinaesthetic stimulation) had positive effects on a range of developmental outcomes of preterm
infants. Only two studies suggested new solutions for this ongoing problem, but yet again none of
these have been tried, tested or proven in real cases. The fact that there are barely any studies done on
the variable of constant movement makes problems in this field of research even more challenging to
solve, hence the need for further interest and research on the specific variables of constant movement,
light and noise if we are going to provide and create a

English essay:
People have the longing to belong and to be accepted by a group or community. A sense of Belonging
can emerge from the connections and acceptance we have with other people, communities and the
larger world. These ideas of belonging are represented in texts which explore aspects of belonging and
an individual s potential to challenge or improve a community group. The film Strictly Ballroom,
directed by Baz Lurhman, the film Looking for Alibrandi directed by Kate Woods and the exaggerated

When Scott is still contemplating who to dance with at the Pan Pacific s he is approached by his

Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura ( Itp )
Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP)
The first official report on Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura was written by Paul Gottlieb
Werlhof in 1735. As such, the name Werlhof s disease was used when referring to Idiopathic
Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP) until the early 19th century when scientists linked purpura with
abnormalities in the platelet count. In 1916 Paul Kaznelson made a report of the successful response
on a young woman who had undergone a splenectomy in treating the ITP disease, this method was use
until 1950 s after which steroid therapy was introduced. (Newland, sec. 1)
Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura is also known as, primary immune thrombocytopenic purpura,
and autoimmune thrombocytopenic purpura, it is a bleeding disorder and manifest as a clinical acute
disorder in children, which is short term and chronic disorder, long term in adults. Women are shown
to contract this disease two to three times more than men. The key characteristic is the destruction of
platelets by the autoimmune system which mistakenly attacks and destroys the body s platelets, the
reason is unknown thus the name idiopathic . The onset is linked to viral or bacterial infection which
acts as a trigger . This disease is not transferable from one person to another.
The signs and symptoms of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura are:

Atrial Fibrillation Research Paper
Atrial fibrillation is a condition that the heart beat irregularly and often rapidly. Normally, a sinoatrial
node (SA node) in the right atrium of the heart acts as the heart s natural pacemaker and generates
electrical signals to start the heart beating in an organized way. It allows atria to contract and squeeze
regularly traveling the electrical signals through the atrioventricular node (AV node) which is situated
in the centre of the heart between the atria and ventricles, the electrical signals then steadily pass
through to the ventricles keeping the heart beating constantly and blood flowing to the lungs and body.
This impulse allows the atria and ventricles work together to maintain a normal sinus rhythm of the
heartbeat. In AF, the

Disobedience In The 1967 Film Cool Hand Luke
Mahatmas Ghandi, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the South Africans all have used disobedience in
order to change an unjust norm or law(s). The most common form of disobedience which have been
used in history is to simply not obey the officials of higher authority and protest in order to get the
point across. These protests have been successful because of the mass numbers of supporters but also
because they set out to change an unjust rule or norms. In the 1967 film Cool Hand Luke featuring
Paul Newman, Lucas (Luke) has been sent to jail for beheading parking meters while intoxicated.
During his time in jail, he disobeys both the de facto inmate leader and the wardens simply because he

This admiration further fuels his desires to break the norm and authority and it is shown when he

this newfound position, the wardens and officers do not seem pleased; they view his success as a
threat to their power and authority. His rise in power and his desire for disobedience lacks one critical
point that he fails to see throughout the film: a just objective. He breaks the norm in jail so simply
fulfill his thirst to be different and not what he seems unjust and unfair. As a prisoner, he has lost most
of his rights as an American citizen and he has to be punished as a result. His treatment seems fair; he
received three meals, recreation time, visiting hours and care there was no evidence of mistreatment or
unfair conditions. This first two attempts to escape showed that he performed those actions just to
demonstrate his ability to escape and hold on to his newfound power and glory. They do not, however,
help him realize all the reasons to behave well and obey authority in jail in order to fully appreciate all
the benefits of freedom once his term was over. Instead, it reassured the inmates that Luke has become

  • 3. Pros And Cons Of Agricultural Subsidies In late 1920, early 1930 s, the government of the United States of America (USA) first initiated efforts to control the agricultural economy during the great depression. During that period of time, farm prices collapsed and therefore farmers hardly had any income. Subsidies are benefits given by the state to specific groups needing financial aid in form of cash or tax reduction. Subsidies are often considered to be in the interest of the general public. Agricultural subsidies therefore exist to stabilize food prices, ensure a healthy food production, guaranteeing a farmer s basic income and in general to strengthen the agricultural part of the economies gross domestic product (GDP) (encyclopedia.com, agricultural subsidies). In reality however, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since there are farmers with more financial opportunities, smaller farms would suffer from the inequality that would be present, as they can not afford high priced equipment and machinery to expand their production or to even invest in new crops. However, when the government decides on subsidies, especially the smaller farms profit from the extra cash, as they can now afford to keep up with the competition. This means that subsidies enable the smaller farms to produce at an optimal level of production. Therefore, financial aids by the state also aim to prevent that there is a monopoly of one farmer since a monopoly would damage the whole agricultural industry. In contrast to monopoly, competition plays an important role, not only in the agricultural, but in any industry. A healthy competition leads to a variety of products the consumer can choose from at an affordable price since a high contestability leads to prices going down to average cost at some point because of the constant undercutting in ... • 4. George Mccready Price ( Or George Edward Price George McCready Price (or George Edward Price) was born in 1870 and died in 1963. Price had a reputation as being an influence on creationism among people he met (Numbers, p. 89). His father died when George was very young and his mother joined an SDA church on the aftermath of the Millerite movement and during this period was when Ellen G White began having her visions and Seventh day Adventism was becoming known as Bible people (Numbers, p.89 90). Ellen G White support creationism by endorsing that Noah s flood did happen and that it change the world s surface and buried fossils which helped formed mountains, hills and trees (Numbers, p. 90). Price, married an Adventist lady who was twelve years older than him, he had a job selling books, but then decided to go to Battle Creek College to get an education in teaching, but he ran out of funds which force him to work as a bookseller again but in 1897, he got a job working as a teacher at Tracadie (Numbers p. 91). This was my first time learning about George Price, I was shocked to read that he married someone twelve years older than him. Price was a strong believer and supporter of Creationism but he made friends with people who were not like Dr. Alfred Smith, who got him to research evolution (Numbers, p. 91). As a result of his many years of research, Price published a 271 page book on the cons of evolution and the development of Darwinism (Numbers p. 92 93). Price even worked as a pastor on Prince Edward Island but got ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Analysis Of The Book Youth And Ghost By Adam... The historians who begin the 20th century with the First World War do so because of the great change in thinking brought about during and after the fighting: people became less friendly toward colonialism; people s roles in their societies were often not the same after the war, most of all women, and where other methods failed to, a new kind of nationalism could perhaps help them to rebuild their identities as they rebuilt their countries. Various sources about the time can be used to examine it from different angles and draw different conclusions about it: Vera Brittain s Testament of Youth, for example, is a primary source and a memoir, assembled from her own diaries and letters sent from around the turn of the century, and has the unique flavor of being a woman s perspective during the war. King Leopold s Ghost by Adam Hochschild is a secondary source and a collection of stories all looking at the same subject colonialism in Africa, the Congo in particular and it provides multiple views through different eyes. The chapter On Humanity in Dark Times: Thoughts about Lessing from Hannah Arendt s book Men in Dark Times is also a secondary source, as the book is a collection of her own essays and thus likely has notes of personal reflection as Brittain s memoir would while bringing in the facts and somewhat journalistic observation of King Leopold s Ghost. • 7. Why Geography Matters More Than Ever By Harm De Blij Geography is an important factor to consider when you look at this worlds past, present, or future. So whether it be the earths physical geographic features, the geopolitics stirring up trouble across the globe, or the economics of growing or shrinking countries; geography plays a major role. In todays society, geographic knowledge is one of the most important and valuable tools to possess. Without it, we are victims of ignorance and endanger ourselves, others, and the world. This ignorance, possessed by many, is posing a great risk of self destruction. The author of Why Geography Matters More Than Ever , Harm de Blij, makes many strong points on this matter, but occasionally makes unsupported and unclear statements which tend to stray off topic. Lets get right to the point. There is no such thing as global warming. This provocative statement presented by the author makes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He feared the Soviet Unions deviationism ha tainted his Maoist communism. So he mobilized young people in china, forming the Red Guards and shutting down schools. These kids were encouraged to attack bourgeois and root out enemies of the system, including family members. The results of this were devastating. The economy was left struggling to survive, people and elders were mistreated for things they didn t do, and there were as many as 30 million casualties. After explaining this and how Maos death practically saved china, the author makes this statement. On July 28, 1976, twin earthquakes struck near the city of Tangshan...the death toll...may have exceeded 700,000 people...The chairmen for life died on September 9, just six weeks after Tangshan. It probably was no coincidence. This quote suggests that a political reaction was connected to Maos death. • 8. Analysis Of The Dead By Charlie Higson This summer, I read the book The Dead by Charlie Higson is a novel about a large group of kids, left to live by themselves without guidance from their parents. In this run down setting of London, England, people who are over the age of 16 turn into kid hunting, flesh eating zombies. The younger kids are forced to live on their own, fighting for life against the wrath of the Adults. The message Higson showed in his book is: after people are forced to rely on themselves without experience, their lack of experience and knowledge will lead them to failure. In the novel, the kids face constant fear and by telling the story from a 3rd person omniscient point of view, Higson can really show how they are forced to only appeal their need for survival. The adults are a mysterious entity to the kids. Since they are doing things only to live, their actions are limited. We think there s something in us that adults need to eat in order to stay alive, (375). They move in groups to keep support between the kids, and by doing this, their fear of adults is slightly eased. Connecting the fact that the kids are living in fear to that London is big, the kids are constantly moving. The possibilities of adults attacking the kids at any point are endless. And when it had gotten really bad, when those adults who d gotten sick but hadn t died had started to turn on the kids, attacking them like wild animals, (8). These kids start to constantly move because of their fear. This causes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ultra-Violence In A Clockwork Orange Discussions about literature and their adaptions, what they are and how they relate to tradition and society prompts the question, how does the ultra violence fit in? In A Clockwork Orange, ultra violence plays a key role in the overarching theme and tension within the novel and its Stanley Kubrick s 1972 adaptation of the same name. The act of violence is paired with use of classical music which incorporates happiness and pleasure with the act of evil. The use music to create tension within A Clockwork Orange translates into tradition and modern society. Every part of the world has its own literary traditions as well as the norm of their society. No: 120907394 Section: A Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering MANIPAL INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY (A Constituent Institute of Manipal University) MANIPAL 576 104 August 2015 INTRODUCTION Biometric authentication has been receiving extensive attention over the past decade with increasing demands in automated personal identification. Biometrics is to identify individuals using physiological or behavioral characteristics, such as finger print, face, iris, retina, palm print, etc. Among all the biometric techniques, fingerprint recognition is the most popular method and is successfully used in many applications. Typical fingerprint recognition methods employ feature based image matching, where minutiae (i.e., ridge ending and ridge bifurcation) are extracted from the registered fingerprint image and the input fingerprint image, and the number of corresponding minutiae pairings between the two images is used to recognize a valid fingerprint image. The feature based matching provides an effective way of identification for majority of people. However, it has been known that there are a number of people whose fingerprints could not be identified by the feature based methods due to special skin conditions, where feature points are hard to be extracted by image processing. • 11. Analysis Of Our Divided Political Heart By John F.... Let us not seek the Republican answer or the Democratic answer, but the right answer. Let us not seek to fix the blame for the past. Let us accept our own responsibility for the future, quoted by John F. Kennedy at the Loyola college alumni banquet. E.J. Dionne is a political journalist and commentator for The Washington Post also a University Professor in the Foundations of Democracy and Culture at the McCourt School of Public Policy. In Dionne s book, Our Divided Political Heart, he talks about how American citizens cannot agree on who we are because we cannot agree on whom we have been. The American custom, Dionne expresses, points not to be self sufficient and selfish, but to even out our compassion of individual freedom and our loyalty to the public. Understanding of our nation s history, Dionne shows an insightful examination of how self reliance is toxic to our present political ambience. He participates the Tea Party s involvement with American history, but also shows it s catastrophic past while supporting the Wall Street movement in America s public and Populist traditions. Dionne asserts that the American past has continuously been described by friction between the basic morals of individualism and community. Americans have treasured liberty, independent opportunity and self individualism and still maintaining the significance of the general public s duty and civic morality. The founders indicate these morals as liberalism and republicanism, and the attempt ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This book provides the reader with the American experience of Native Americans, African Americans, Mexican Americans, Irish Americans, Chinese Americans, Japanese Americans, and Jewish Americans. During this time, America demonstrated manifest destiny and the Master Narrative. They were led by the belief of white purity, which these ethnic groups threatened. America exhibited supremacy over all of these ethnic groups. Takaki s work allows me to become aware of the history and the outcomes of manifest destiny and the Master Narrative. Some of the behavior, perspectives, and experiences present in the multicultural history of the United States are: manifest destiny, master narrative, education, labor treatment, interminority racism, and attempting to prove to be American. Manifest destiny is the belief that America s decision to divide and conquer was valid. The Native Americans are one example where manifest destiny can be applied to their experience and perspective on their viewpoint of American. They were driven out of their land by a contract signed by a fraction of the Native Americans. Likewise, the Irish Americans were stripped of their independence and their land was taken from them. Similarly, the African Americans experienced the divide and conquer when they were distinguished as slaves. Lindsey Stirling s Shatter Me Featuring Lzzy Hail and Freshly Ground s Pot Belly, depict two different categories of perception: perceptions of oneself and perceptions of others. These perceptions, though diverse, show a modern day view of how people are characterized and viewed externally. The latter music video reveals two people and their perceptions of each other; in contrast, the first video displays one person s view of not only themselves, but also the world around them. As Lindsey Stirling s video continues, it becomes clear that the ballerina is tired and unhappy with this banal routine. An effective picture is painted of the warped perception she has of herself and, conversely, her view of the world. Also, instead of blatantly stating that she has no interior, he uses the words as if. In this way, he suggests that there is an interior, perhaps one that he just has not found yet. His failed attempts, then, bring him to refer to her as a body that has fallen into his bed that he seems responsible [for], or so it seems, otherwise why do I keep it? When he says, But of this one there is nothing I can say with certainty, he refers to the barbarian girl as this one. This shows that he thinks of women as attainable objects that he can easily control. In contrast to the girl at the inn, the barbarian girl is impervious to his force. However, the quality of the movie, a lot of the times, depends on the changes made when adapting the novel to film. The director of the movie needs to make sure that the film does not cut off significant parts, and at the same time, abstain from the unnecessary parts the writer made without changing the whole theme. Moreover, they need to add in more characters and scenes to make the film more creative and understandable. • 19. The Transition From Art Nouveau To Art Deco English Decorative Arts: The Transition from Art Nouveau to Art Deco Parallels can be seen running throughout the two movements and the following essay highlights the similarities and differences within the two styles and the causes of the fall from one and the rise of the other. Art Nouveau was likewise strongly influenced by the Pre Raphaelite movement which contained prominent artists such as Edward Burne Jones and John William Waterhouse (Meagher, 2017). This romantic style exhibited a return to nature; common themes were leaves, flowers, tendrils, and insects. Whiplash curves and flowing lines were prominently featured. Art Nouveau portrayals of women were erotic and sensual and many images depicted nudes and these images were originally shocking to the public (Hoffman, 2017) . Artists preferred a pallet of natural colours with soft muted tones of browns, olive greens, blues, and mustard yellow (Marinica, 2017). Advertisers procured these images and adopted the style to produce posters and newspaper advertisements promoting a variety of goods. The Czech artist Alphonse Mucha produced works of this type ( Alphonse Maria Mucha Complete Works 2017 , 2017). Artisans of the Aesthetic movement advocated art for art s sake and created works purely for beauty and never for function (Easby, 2017). James Abbot McNeil Whistler the artist who painted Whistlers Mother, was associated with this genre ( James Abbott McNeill Whistler 1834 1903 | Tate , 2017). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Sea s Ability Of An Intertidal Rock Platform Introduction The sea s ability to produce an intertidal rock platform was first commented on as early as 1846 by Ramsey, and then decisively classified into four themes by Trenhaile (1980), which is still relevant to scientist studying the formations today. The four themes are: 1) the role of marine and subaerial processes in platform development; 2) morphology of shore platforms; 3) modelling platform development; and 4) measuring rates of erosion (Stevenson 1, 2000). Research has commonly assumed that the origins of the shore platform are wave cut, however in recent years there has been research into a wider range of platforms and process leading to more theories. Defining and Distinguishing between Shore Platforms In order attempt to distinguish between different types of shore platforms, the most basic form of description is those, which slope seaward, and then those with a distinctive seaward edge characterised by a cliff (Stephenson et al., 2013). Sunamura has helped characterize those cliffs with the use of calling the slope edge a Type A Platform and a Cliff edge and a Type B Platform, this is represented in Figure 1. Fig. 1. The continuity of the actual message of the story of the life of Jesus seems, it would be generally agreed, to hinge on the Gospel of Mark being a source for the other Synoptic gospels at least. Much argument has also gone on about the place and time of writing of Mark and how this influences the traditioning or the handing on of the story. How the original written version came to be from the oral process is also a cause for the concern as regards continuity of the story. Was it faithfully translated? Nineham states that Jesus very character was determined by the particular circumstances in which the tradition was handed down. Those who kept it shaped the tradition itself. They had their own motives and beliefs and these have influenced the tradition that has brought out the character of Jesus as we know today (Nineham 1986: 21). This traditioning was a process that began by orally recounting the story at private or public gatherings. The public gatherings being more favoured because preachers or teachers, that is those entrusted with the traditioning process, would have told the story at worship or catechumen gatherings (Nineham 1986: 22). It occurs with symptoms like nausea, vomiting, fatigue, and sensitivity to light and sound. According to Allexa Hammond and Maura Holcomb, MD, migraine has five stages. In the first stage (also called Prodromal), the patient will experience depression, a stiff neck, and cognitive dysfunction. The second stage (the aura) affects the visual (scotomata) area, sensation (paresthesia of the hands, arms and face), and cognitive capability. In the third stage (the peak stage), the patient will undergo throbbing pain, nausea, anxiety, irritability, impairment in concentration, and photophobia (extreme sensitivity to light). The fourth stage is the resolution of the headache for several hours, possibly aroused by vomiting or deep sleep. The last stage is the recovery stage; the patient will feel fatigue, become depressed and sometimes have a euphoric mood. Not much about the cause of migraine is known, but genetics and environmental factors may play a role. It may be caused by changes in the brainstem, or imbalances in brain chemicals like serotonin, which helps regulate pain in our nervous system. Nicu Case Studies INTRODUCTION It is common consensus that the levels of light and noise in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) ward has always been and presently unacceptable, although historically there has been ongoing debate about the exact level and type of impact this environment has on preterm infants in terms of their sleep patterns and neuropsychological development. There has been some support by substantial research that has previously found stimulation in the NICU has a detrimental effect on the development, growth and quality of sleep of infants. Long term implications have also been found to have a negative effect on the motor and neurological functioning of preterm infants. However, other studies argue that they had found no significant effects ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is important to provide premature babies with the many undisturbed rest hours they require for their development, health and well being. The investigation was done by three different principal designers and a team in three stages, understanding the problem (vision building), verifying (specifying) by conducting a feasibility study, and project management (preparation for strict development). Despite the positive results of many academic and company studies, several physicians reported in personal communication that the actual sound levels at the ward has only changed marginally (if at all) over the years. Sound levels at the NICU are problematic for the neonate infants, because noise is a direct cause of long lasting auditory problems and a significant cause of neurologic impairment, cardiovascular and respiratory problems. There were new technology measures proposed to minimise or overcome these problems, including a central system connecting all medical equipment, centrally controlled sound generating units with redesigned sounds and user interfaces. Despite only having found two studies on the variable of movement, both researchers agreed that movement (tactile/kinaesthetic stimulation) had positive effects on a range of developmental outcomes of preterm infants. Only two studies suggested new solutions for this ongoing problem, but yet again none of these have been tried, tested or proven in real cases. The fact that there are barely any studies done on the variable of constant movement makes problems in this field of research even more challenging to solve, hence the need for further interest and research on the specific variables of constant movement, light and noise if we are going to provide and create a ... Normally, a sinoatrial node (SA node) in the right atrium of the heart acts as the heart s natural pacemaker and generates electrical signals to start the heart beating in an organized way. It allows atria to contract and squeeze regularly traveling the electrical signals through the atrioventricular node (AV node) which is situated in the centre of the heart between the atria and ventricles, the electrical signals then steadily pass through to the ventricles keeping the heart beating constantly and blood flowing to the lungs and body. This impulse allows the atria and ventricles work together to maintain a normal sinus rhythm of the heartbeat. In AF, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 41. Disobedience In The 1967 Film Cool Hand Luke Mahatmas Ghandi, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the South Africans all have used disobedience in order to change an unjust norm or law(s). The most common form of disobedience which have been used in history is to simply not obey the officials of higher authority and protest in order to get the point across. These protests have been successful because of the mass numbers of supporters but also because they set out to change an unjust rule or norms. In the 1967 film Cool Hand Luke featuring Paul Newman, Lucas (Luke) has been sent to jail for beheading parking meters while intoxicated. During his time in jail, he disobeys both the de facto inmate leader and the wardens simply because he did not like to conform to their rules. Luke s, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This admiration further fuels his desires to break the norm and authority and it is shown when he blindly decides to accept a bet where he has to eat fifty hard boiled eggs. His success ensured that Luke has become the new de facto leader and even Dragline respects his actions and authority. With this newfound position, the wardens and officers do not seem pleased; they view his success as a threat to their power and authority. His rise in power and his desire for disobedience lacks one critical point that he fails to see throughout the film: a just objective. He breaks the norm in jail so simply fulfill his thirst to be different and not what he seems unjust and unfair. As a prisoner, he has lost most of his rights as an American citizen and he has to be punished as a result. His treatment seems fair; he received three meals, recreation time, visiting hours and care there was no evidence of mistreatment or unfair conditions. This first two attempts to escape showed that he performed those actions just to demonstrate his ability to escape and hold on to his newfound power and glory. They do not, however, help him realize all the reasons to behave well and obey authority in jail in order to fully appreciate all the benefits of freedom once his term was over. Instead, it reassured the inmates that Luke has become the leader and he will continue to break the law as he pleased. The apex of his vanity occurs when he mails a magazine to the ...
