4. HISTORY OF ICICI BANK
 ICICI Bank was established by the Industrial
Credit Investment corporation of India(ICICI),an
Indian financial institution, as a wholly owned
subsidiary in 1994 .The parent company was
formed in 1955 as a joint-venture of the world
bank, India's public sector insurance company to
provide project financing to Indian industry. The
bank was initially known as the industrial credit
and Investment Corporation of India bank, before
it change its name to be the abbreviated ICICI
Bank. The parent company was later merged with
the bank.
 ICICI bank launched internet banking operations
in 1998.

 1955:The Industrial credit and Investment
Corporation of India Limited(ICICI) Incorporated
at the initiative of world bank objective of creating
a development financial institutions.
Mr.A.Ramaswami Mudaliar elected as the first
Chairman of ICICI Limited.
 1956: ICICI decleared its first dividend of 3.5%.
 1958:Mr.G.L.Mehta appointed the second
Chairman of ICICI Limited.
 1967: ICICI made its first debenture issue for Rs.6
crore,
 1969:The first two regional offices in Calcutta and
Madras set up.
 1972:Mr.H.T.Parekh appointed the third Chairman
of ICICI.

 2001: The board of ICICI Ltd and ICICI Bank
approved the merger of ICICI with ICICI Bank.

assets.
 2003: The first Integrated Currency Management
Center launched in Pune.
 2004: Kisan loan Card and innovative, low cost
ATM's in rural India launched.
