Smith s Animal Works Of Art From Broken Electronics And...
A number of modern day artists are transforming common, everyday trash into notable works of
art. Sayaka Ganz hopes to reduce waste through creative use of discarded objects. Paul Villinski
collects discarded beer cans from New York streets and transforms them into cross cultural symbols
of rebirth. Ann P. Smith creates animal works of art from broken electronics and machine parts.
However, the concept that lies behind all these artists work is nothing new. Jesushas been practicing
the exact same kind of artistry for thousands of years.
During one of his Sabbath day synagogue visits, the Pharisees confronted Jesus with a man with a
withered hand and challenged him about whether it was acceptable to heal such a man on the
Sabbath. For Jesus the answer was painfully obvious:
He said to them, Which one of you who has a sheep, if it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will not
take hold of it and lift it out? Of how much more value is a man than a sheep! So it is lawful to do
good on the Sabbath. Then he said to the man, Stretch out your hand. And the man stretched it out,
and it was restored, healthy like the other. Matthew 12:11 12
Like a modern day upcycling artist, Jesus restored this man s useless, withered hand to make it
productive and healthy. However, such healings are only one form of Jesus artistic work. While the
events concerning this crippled man are recorded by Matthew, Mark, and Luke, Matthew connects
them with Old Testament prophecies concerning the

An Igbo Folklore That Matter
Stories that Matter Maybe if I thought about things differently my life would have been better,
but sometimes or even most of times things are just what they are right or wrong. There is an
Igbo folklore that I am going to tell you about the tortoise and the birds. Once, there was a feast
in the heavens and all the birds were invited, not the tortoise. However, because of the cunning
nature of the tortoise, he wanted to go with the birds. But, how was he going to do that? Well,
he had to look for a way to fly so he decided to borrow feathers from the birds with the trick that
he was going to be their spokesperson. But then, things changed as got they got to heaven. The
tortoise told the officials that his name was All of you, so when all the foods and gifts came, the
officials said this is for all of you, and the tortoise claimed everything for himself. The birds got
so angry they all left him stranded in heaven except for the Parrot. The tortoise sent a message
through the Parrot to his family to bring out all the soft things in his house so he could land on
them, but the Parrot still enraged told his family otherwise. All the hard things were brought out
and the tortoise landed on them, which is the reason why the tortoise has a broken shell today. I
was told this story over and over again growing up, and I have lived with it ever since. Do I believe
or not? That is for me to answer. Do you believe or not? That is for you to answer. Stories help to
keep our minds

Black Diamonds Research Paper
There is nothing like the feeling of rushing down the slopes with the wind blowing by and the sun
shining down, as the landscape of the mountains outstretches before you. While traversing the
frigid ridge can be an exhilarating refuge from the routine of normal life, there are certain things
that must be known about the difficulty of the slopes. It is better to focus on the splendor of it all
rather than worry about making it down safely. To make slopes easier to identify, they are
categorized by colors and shapes that correspond with the difficulty of the terrain. American
identifications group terrain into four classes; greencircles, blue squares, black diamonds, and
double black diamonds.
Green circles are gentle beginner level slopes. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These vary greatly in terrain and obstacles and can be found in many places. They tend to be on
the back side of the mountain, but getting to them is where it really varies. You may take an old
hidden ski lift, or come off a main lift to hike up a steep incline to get to the riskiest slopes.
Black diamonds are not for beginners, as they are almost always steep and quite narrow. You
will find obstacles on these, whether it be rocks or bumps, sharp turns, or through trees. Tree
runs could be a category of their own. The trees could be closely knit, or sparsely placed. It may
be a narrow singular path, or might be untouched completely. It s important to take turns if you
re going with a group of people, which is a smart choice to make sure you won t get lost on your
own. This is because it s quite easy to fall or get stuck, so you may need help. While all of these are
great, my favorite run is a drop off. This is a vertical drop about five feet down, followed by a
steep, powdery, challenging run. These are ones that you almost always have to hike to, and the
most dangerous slope requires a hike up a very steep incline. These are the only slopes I haven t
been on, and are extremely steep, narrow, one person at a time runs. Black diamonds are not meant
for beginners, and you should not go on them unless you know how to traverse something like

How To Write An Essay On Irish Travellers By Gmelch
Imagine a life of travelling the countryside, going wherever you wish in a canvas topped caravan
pulled by your loyal horses. This is and was the life of the Irish population known as Travellers. In
their book Irish Travellers, sociologists Sharon Gmelch and George Gmelch record their
observations of one of the least studied ethnic groups today. In their research, they learn a about the
benefits and hardships of a life on the road, the prejudice from settled folk, and the unique struggles
of adjusting to stationary life under forced government housing. This book shows the unique and
deeply personal experiences of Travellers, allowing them to speak for themselves with meticulously
documented interviews, in addition to seeing high quality photographs... Show more content on

Between the two of them, they have written twenty one books on various cultures and ethnic
groups. At the University of San Francisco, they teach several classes on women s and cultural
studies in addition to anthropology. Their research of Irish Travellers was made into an acclaimed
documentary called Unsettled From Tinkers to Travellers. They first traveled to Irelandto study
Travelers in the 1970s. After their first trip, their second trip in 2011 would seek to answer [h]ow
has settlement changed Traveller s lives and their understanding of who they are? How do different
generations of Travellers make sense of it all? (Gmelch 7). These questions were motivated by the
recent change in Ireland of Ireland [joining] the European Economic Community... which boosted
the country s economy, with the side effect that Travellers in Ireland were no longer nomads...the
vast majority live in houses (Gmelch 7). This represented a major change for the Travellers, who
had likely been a nomadic people throughout the majority of Irish history. With these questions in
mind, Mr. and Mrs. Gmelch set out to do their

Secondary Structure Prediction
When analyzing the secondary structure predictions of the query sequence from the five
prediction programs, the majority of the programs seemed to detect the presence of one long,
uninterrupted helix on the N terminal side of the pilE protein. However, some programs, such as
PORTER (Pollastri et al., 2005) and SSpro (Magnan et al., 2014) indicated the presence of two
helices interrupted by a small gap of random coils. While these results appear to contradict each
other at first, upon further inspection, this can be explained by the fact that when two helices are
very close to each other, some algorithms may erroneously pick it up as 1 long helix since
secondary prediction programs are not 100% accurate. Thus, in the consensus secondary... Show

One possible reason for this discrepancy that while these species represent species that are
homologs of each other, some of their secondary structures may slightly differ from one another.
Another possible reason for this discrepancy may be because, as briefly mentioned before,
secondary structure prediction programs are not always accurate and thus, there could have been
an error made in one of the programs, allowing for detection of an extra beta strand or for a beta
strand to go undetected. This is perfectly illustrated by the PORTER server, which mysteriously
predicts a helix spanning amino acid residues 104 113 of the query sequence when all the other
programs predicted either a beta strand or random coil in that range instead (Figure 1b). Since
PORTER was the only program to predict a helix in this range, it is considered an outlier and thus,
it can largely be ignored as an error when making the consensus secondary structure prediction. The
initial domain architecture was generated based on the known pilE protein in Neisseria gonorrhoeae
(control sequence) and consisted of two domains, the N terminal domain and the pilA domain.
Using the metaserver InterPro, the N terminal domain was predicted to span amino acid residues 2
29, while the pilA domain was predicted to span residues 36 161 (Finn et al., 2017). Although there
seemed to be a somewhat high correspondence between the secondary structure prediction analysis
and the domain architecture

c)Profit: every business main motto is to make profit. Company also should make sure that profits

stakeholders or members of the organization. Not only financial needs, triple bottom line concept
also takes environmental and social requirements into consideration. The old and traditional model
just focuses only on profit and benefits for the company but triple bottom line concept proves that
by just focusing on the profits company becomes unsustainable and gradually starts losing its

The Consequences Of Change In The Lovely Bones And La La Land
The Consequences of change have been moulded through the two texts The Lovely Bones, written
by Alice Sebold (2002) and La La Land, directed by Damien Chazelle (2016) and have shaped the
audiences understanding through the aspects of change and its consequences though key themes
that are showcases in both texts. These themes can be narrowed down to person, place and event.
Susie and her father Mr. Salmon both throughout the novel The Lovely Bones written by Alice
Sebold (2002) change each other as a consequence of Susie s murder. Alice Sebold uses Negative
tone and Hyperbole literary techniques to demonstrate the change between Susie and her father
through the Narration by Susie about Mr. Salmon for example when Susie talks about how Mr.
Salmon was crazy with grief and had gone out to the cornfield seeking revenge . Through the use of
these Techniques Alice Sebold tugs on the emotions of the audience and allows them to reflect on
the change in the Salmon household between losing a daughter and wanting to gain closure and as
a consequence of this the audience become torn between two decisions and Alice Sebold enables
the audience to consider their life morals. All through the text Alice Sebold grants the audience the
understanding to the concept of change and these examples help the audience to mould their
thinking through her use of various literary techniques.
Mia played by Emma Stone changes throughout the film La La Land, directed by Damien Chazelle
(2016) because of her willingness to chase her dreams, and as a consequence her dreams and
personality change. Damien Chazelle uses contrasting in colours and juxtaposition as visual and
literary techniques to demonstrate consequences of change to the audience. All through the film
Mia s (Emma Stone) outfit s and personality change as a consequence of meeting Sebastian (Ryan
Gosling) and falling in love. This is depicted through colours and the audience can see how her
outfits change from solid bright colours to mature colours and more adult like clothing choices as a
consequence of her changing as a person form her relationship with Sebastian. This allows the
audience to ponder on previous relationships and to think about their outfits they have chosen when

Universal Design
The Universal Design for Learning is defined as a set of principles for curriculum development that
caters to varying needs in the classroom and provides individual and equal opportunities to learn. It
provides a framework for devising instructional goals, methods, teaching practices, and assessments
in a range of different modes to promote student learning. The approach is important because it
identifies a wide array of needs and wants in the classroom, with individual students necessities,
skills and effective learning techniques pivotal. The framework recognises the barriers to and for
learning, allowing for the implementation of flexible techniques that cater to student s strengths and
desires so that each student can reach their learning

Securing Mobile Ad Hoc Networks
SECURING MOBILE AD HOC NETWORKS Abstract: Wireless sensor networks is growing
rapidly from the past few decades. Due to its scalability, wireless sensor networks is used in many
applications. Among various wireless networks, Mobile Ad hoc networks has been one of the
unique network. Unlike other network architectures, MANETs have no central architecture; every
node is free to work both as a transmitter and receiver. Every single node can communicate freely
with every other node which is in their communication range. Otherwise, it depends on neighboring
nodes to relay messages. Due to this nature, MANETs are used in many missionary applications
like military use and emergency recovery. However the wide distribution of MANETs makes it...

This can be any medium such as cellular or satellite transmission. MANETs can work both as a
host and a router. Since, there is no central infrastructure and nodes are free to move, the
neighboring nodes help in data transmission that are not in the communication range. This can be
achieved by dividing the MANETs into two types of networks i.e. single hop network and
multihop network. In a single hop wireless network all the nodes communicate directly with every
other node. In multi hop network, the neighboring nodes help in transmitting the data that are not
its communication range, which is an added advantage to MANETs. Due to this wide distribution
of MANETs makes it vulnerable o malicious attacks. For example, due to lack of protection,
attackers can easily induce malicious nodes in the network. In particular, nodes in MANETs
assumes every other node to be ignorant and behaves cooperatively with other nodes. This makes
attackers to easily compromise other nodes to achieve attacks. Furthermore, because of
decentralized architecture of MANETs, a centralized detecting technique is no longer appropriate.
Hence it is necessary to implement a detection system especially for MANETs. Existing System As
discussed, the nodes in MANETs assume every other node to cooperatively transmit the messages;
the attackers can easily induce malicious nodes into the network. Hence a secure system has to be
implemented to detect the attackers,

What Is The Mood Of The Poem Valentine By Carol Ann Duffy
The poem, Valentine, by Carol Ann Duffy, is the epitome of how conventional love and events
such as Valentine s Day is pure asinine and downright ludicrous. She illustrates this by utilising a
myriad of literary techniques, such as symbolism, imagery and word choice; in order to reveal the
realities of love. It can be disputed that Duffy allows her readers to fathom the enigmatic feeling
known as love through Valentine. Duffy s coherent use of language features help depict and
accentuate this in Valentine, by enabling her readers to feel a sense of sincerity rather than the
cliched ethereal facade which is masqueraded in sugar, spice, and everything nice.
Throughout the poem, Duffy utilises the use of symbolism to compare love to an onion. This
symbolises, that although love is said to be euphoric, it can also provoke tears. An example of
this can be seen in lines 7 and 8 where Duffy says, It will blind you with tears like a lover. By this,
she means that onions contain a strong chemical in which causes us to cry when we cut them;
similar to when we are crying over ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is especially evident in lines nine and ten where she says It will make your reflection a
wobbly photo of grief. This is implying that onions bring anguish and discomfort whilst being
cut which causes us to cry. Their chemical compound causes tears and when crying, everything
we see appears wobbly. From this example, the author makes the reader visualise a grimaced face
of tears and grief whilst looking at their reflection which appears wobbly. The word photo implies
an ephemeral moment that was captured, the word wobbling allows us to assume that tears were
spilt causing their vision to become hazy, hence leaving behind a wobbling photo of grief. Yet
again, Duffy has managed to make effective use of a language feature in order to change the
readers perception of

College Education Is The Question
To Go To College Or Not To Go To College That Is The Question One of the questions that plague
many high school seniors is do I go to college or do I find a min wage job? I for one was one of the
latter seniors I thought I don t need a college education I will be fine making min wage, now 20
years later here I am learning that a collegeeducationdoes make a difference. Even though I have
not yet completed my degree I can already tell you how much difference a college education has
made in my way of thinking just during two semesters. Have you ever watched a movie and
thought how lucky some of those actors are because they never have to go to college? What if I
told you that you were wrong, a lot of actors and athletes have a college education, and some even
went to school after they became famous. Several of Hollywood s elite actors and actresses
understand the importance of higher education. Natalie Portman majored in psychology from
Harvard and graduated in 2003 after she was already famous. Dakota Fanning is currently
studying at NYU years after she first hit the big screen. After completed the movie series Harry
Potter, Emma Watson graduated last year from Brown University and Oxford. The one actor
who stands out the most to me is James Franco, he not only went to college he graduated from
UCLA in 2008, Columbia in 2010, and is currently enrolled at Yale, while teaching writing classes

Causes Of The Korean War
Intro
The Korean war left 2.5 million people dead more than half of which civilians, nearly 10% of
Korea s total population. With the war officially starting in June of 1950 it took almost three
years of North and South Korea battling until the armistice was signed in July of 1953. The
ongoing cold war between America and Russia can be linked to as to why the Korean conflict was
originally initiated. Still to this day the border between North and South Korea is a heated zone,
there is little to no hope of a united Korea anytime soon.
Short term cause
American troops began to leave South Korea around mid 1949 with Dean Acheson Releasing a
speech in January 1950 stating that the US would no longer commit their forces to mainland Asia.
Acheson saying that their defensive perimeter ran through Japan and the Ryukyu but not the
Republic of Korea or the Republic of China, The defensive perimeter runs along the Aleutians to
Japan and then goes to the Ryukyus. We hold important defence positions in the Ryukyu Islands,
and those we will continue to hold . The recent withdrawal of American troops from South Korea
gave Kim Il Sung an opportunity to make a push towards South Korea Although; he could not do
this alone, he would need the help of Stalin. After constant persuasion from Kim, Stalin agreed to
support Kim with his attack on South Korea, The recent development of Stalin s first atomic bomb
in 1949 may have given him confidence about the invasion.

Traveling to Jamestown, stepping into the unknown, was full of secrets, anticipation, and risk.
With this temporary place called home, brought along a bundle of problems. The Natives, who

in chaos. Despite the chaotic environment Smith took control of Jamestown s defense. Under his
command, the fort was strengthened and armed guards were put into place to watch over the

strong leadership, Jamestown would ve been lost. Today s new age practices is very similar to

Coraline Neil Gaiman Character Analysis
Coraline is a novel exploring the experiences of a young girl who struggles with being ignored
and feeling different. The themes of the novel, such as knowing your place in the world, are
communicated by Coraline s responses to conflict and development. Readers are positioned to
respond positively to Coralineby the use of characterisation, interior monologue and setting.
Knowing your place in the world is an extremely important issue for young children that Neil
Gaiman explores in depth throughout the book. At the beginning of the book, Coraline is ignored
and feels like a young child. Coraline believes her name is a main part of her identity and therefore
tries to make sure everyone remembers it,

Gaiman is able to make the reader think about how important a child s place in the world is by
using interior monologue and setting. Interior monologue helps the reader understand how
Coraline feels and shows the reader how she has matured throughout the book. Coraline s
interior monologue becomes more mature and sophisticated the further along the story the
reader goes. This helps the reader realise that identity and self worth are important within a child
s life and can change the type of person they are. Setting helps the reader realise the innocence of
a child s mind and why self esteem is so important. The Other World can be argued as a fragment
of Coraline s imagination, something she created within her hours of boredom. This theory
highlights to the reader that a child s imagination is important but can also be deadly. When a
child has low self esteem, such as Coraline, their rejection can result in horrible day dreams and
detachment from the real world. Neil Gaiman has woven messages within messages and has been
able to highlight an extensive range of issues within one novel. In conclusion, by using interior
monologue and setting, Neil Gaiman is able to communicate messages, such as a child s place in
the world, to the

Behaviour Change Change can be successful if a company or group within the organization
changes the way an individual presents oneself (Spector, 2010). Behavior change is based on how
an individual works within the environment. The employees of Concord Bookshop were not
consulted therefore did not have an opportunity to verbalize their concerns or provide input to
assist the company to move the bookstore in a new direction. The management team was aware of
the financial distress and was willing to participate in any financial changes required. The
employees of the bookstore had an abundance of knowledge and experience that may have
contributed to ending financial turmoil (Schein, 2011). Open dialogue between the employees and
owners may have facilitated the development and collaboration of new ideas in a competitive
environment. The new strategies could have provided a new direction for the bookstore. According
to Burnes, in discussing Kurt Lewin s Change Model, for change to be effective within a group
there has to be a collective approach by each member of the group (2004).
Conclusion
The Concord Bookshop was a well respected historical bookstore facing financial challenges.
While the bookstore employed knowledgeable and dedicated employees, the owners and board
members did not engage

Football Informative Essay
Injury plague in the NFL catalyst for greater innovation
The game of football is still in its infancy. The invention of the forward pass and its official
adoption in 1906 is proof positive that fundamentally the game has room to advance. By all
accounts, the forward pass was the invention that saved the game of football after a great rugby
player from Yale in the 1880s, Walter Camp, pioneered rules changes that slowly transformed rugby
into the new game of American Football. Birth of Pro Football
Player safety has been the catalyst for football evolution. A fact currently supported by the NFL s
1st and Future initiative dealing with this very topic and others. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell
@nflcommish gets booed often but, in my opinion, he was right to legislate the violent hits out of
the NFL.
The wave of change has now begun and history seems to be repeating itself. Former NFL players
settled a 1 billion dollar lawsuit that accused the NFL of hiding the risks of repeated concussions
in order to return players to the field. The deal avoids the need for a trial and means the NFL
might never have to disclose what it knew, and when.
Safety innovation remarkable influence on the NFL s killer past
The precedent for this next wave of innovation was set by events that triggered the forward pass
well over 120 years ago. After several serious and fatal injuries resulting from close formation
offenses, protests came from men in high places...even President Theodore

The Project aimed to make a spaceship that was simple and affordable. The project was initiated
by Ted Taylor and Francis de Hoffman, founders of General Atomic and by physicist Freeman
Dyson of Princeton s Institute for Advanced Study on 1958 in San Diego [2]. Their goal was to
land on Mars by 1965 and to Saturn by 1970 [1]. They were funded by the Advanced Research
Projects Agency (ARPA) in July for $1 million per year. There came a time in 1959 when ARPA
no longer was able to support Project Orion due to insufficient funds and approached the Air
Force for funding [1]. The Air Force reluctantly decided to fund only if they can find a use for it.
The Secretary of Defense, Robert McNamara, refused to increase funding to Project Orion as he
felt it was not a military asset [2]. The Orion team inquired NASA for funding as its current
funding would not be enough to build a flyable spacecraft [2]. NASA, same as the Air Force,
reluctantly provided funding due its fear that it would cause a public relations disaster. Project
Orion was hit by a fatal blow as the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs came into an
agreement of the Outer Space Treaty [3]. The Outer Space Treaty, signed by 103 countries, was
signed in 1967 and served as the basic foundation of international space law [3]. The Outer Space

The Common Cold
The common cold has been plaguing humankind since the beginning of human existence. Even in
these advanced times, there is no vaccine or cure.
There are many symptoms that accompany the common cold. Some of these infamous symptoms
are a runny nose, caused by inflammation of the nasal tissues, resulting in over production of
mucus to trap the virus, and coughing. there are two different kinds or types of coughs that are
common with colds. The first, is the less common dry hacking cough, these kinds are more likely to
keep you up at night and just plainly annoy you than do any thing else. The other more common
type of cough is the kind whose purpose is to expel mucus and or phlegm. These help to combat
the cold by helping to expel the mucus ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This same article said that kissing doesn t necessarily spread the cold virus (1 2). Laurie Tarkan
says that the main way that the cold virus is spread is through touching of the nose and mouth, like
the Mayo
Clinic Letter. She also stated that the reason that colds seam to flourish in the winter is that
people tend to group together in schools and in homes, therefor spreading the virus throughout
the population. Also more people tend to fly durring the winter. In order to keep the cabin
pressurized, the airplane circulates the air, and that means that if one person has a cold and
coughs then the whole plane will have a great chance to become infected. Also at higher altitudes,
the air seriously dries out the nasal membrane in the nose and therefore make a person more
susceptible to the virus. Because of this, experts like Laurie Tarkan suggest to drink allot of water
while flying in an airplane, about eight ounces for every hour that you are on the airplane (202, The
Common Cold
2). There is only one possible way to stay totally healthy during the winter. That is to be locked in
a room underground and not see anyone until the cold season is over. Fortunately there are a
few guidelines that you can follow to help your chances of staying well this winter. One is to
wash your hands often, not compulsively but often, and also try to stay away from people who
have really bad colds. If someone in your house or workplace gets or has a cold,

themes. Many dances were fiesta themed and incorporated beautiful different colors and costumes.
Fiesta theme performances were fun and different to watch. The vibrant colors and creativity made
them unique and festive. A great deal of Mexican history was also incorporated in Hernandez s
work as well. One on Hernandez s most famous creations was named, DeerDance of the Yaqui
Indians . This dance was associated from a Mexican tribe. It resembled a hunter hunting a deer. In
the act, a male artist wore antlers, resembling the deer the hunter was after. The text stated, The
Times in 1976, Anna Kisselgoff called the dance a deeply moving testimony to the empathy of the
hunters for the hunted. The message she was trying to get across was that this is the way one must
live to survive. Also quoting, Man must kill his prey, but he respects that prey and endows it with

Organized Crime And Terrorism Similarities
They are two separate entities with similar characteristics. What are the differences? Although
organized criminals can engage in terrorism and terrorists can engage in criminal activity, their
objectives vary. Organized crime seeks opportunistic targets whereas, the operands modem of
terrorists is symbolic. Terrorismhas the main goal of political and/or gain through the destruction of
property and human life.
Organized crime groups are usually made up of members with similar ethnic backgrounds (e.g.,
Italian Mafia, Irish Mob) with the prime objective of seeking wealth and power. In the 1920 during
Prohibition, Organized Crime were instrumental in illegal alcohol sales. The success of Organized
depends on an extensive peripheral network. That peripheral network involves bankers, politicians
and law enforcement; ergo, these portals revolving around business activity protects the core of
organized crime (Stratfor, 2010).
Terrorist groups do not depend on an extensive peripheral network since they are driven by
political and/or social directives. Various Middle Eastern Groups (e.g., ISIL) involve the profitable
business of heroin and human trafficking to raise money for operations (e.g., weapons, training).
Finances are a means to an end; thus there are different constraints which allows them to engage in

Sexism In Walt Disney s Movie The Little Mermaid
Growing up watching Disney movies you never notice how sexist they really are. I always
watched The Little Mermaid, but watching it now is very different. When you are younger you just
watch things because you like them, you do not necessarily understand them. As you get older you
realize what you were really being taught. Walt Disney s movie The Little Mermaiddisplays a lot of
sexism and displays how society should see women and how women should act.
In Walt Disney s movie The Little MermaidAriel is constantly under power of a man. Her dad,
King Triton is the number one man who has power over her. When she gets married to Prince
Eric he then also has power over her and always will. He is a Prince and she is just a woman who
happens to be his wife with very little power. Throughout the movie Ariel is not allowed to make
her own decisions. Her dad is always telling her not to do this and not to do that. Also her two
male friends Flounder, a fish and Sebastian, a crab also tell her not to do things and always follow
her around so she is never alone under her father s orders. When she finally gets to make her
own decision to give Ursula her voice to be a human they try and portray it as she made the wrong
decision because she did it by herself and a man did not choose it for her.
In the song Poor Unfortunate Souls that Ursula sings it is telling girls to be quite for men and do
what they need, basically telling girls that they are objects. Girls are always shown in movies as
someone with no power. They are either cleaning or cooking in the house or they are a damsel in
distress needing to be saved by a man. Girls are displayed as objects and there is a certain way they
are supposed to look so that they appeal to society s needs. Ariel fits that description. She is very
small and thin, she is pretty, she has nice eyes, and she has very vibrant colors on her. She has
red hair, blueish brown eyes a purple top and a green tail. Ariel acts as though she needs a man to
save her or needs a man to be happy.
Ariel is showing girls of all ages that you win guys over with your looks and not your voice or
intelligence. Ariel was willing to do anything for Prince Eric and she went so far as to give her

Causes Of Strokes
Each year more than 795,000 Americans have a stroke. Strokes are the fifth leading cause of
death for Americans but the risk of having a stroke varies with race and ethnicity. African
Americans are more likely to die because the risk of having a first stroke is nearly twice as high for
African Americans. Hispanics risk for a strokeis between whites and blacks. Age also has an impact
on strokes as well. A risk of a stroke increases with age, strokes can and will occur at any age. But
what causes people to have strokes? What exactly causes a stroke? A stroke occurs when blood
supply to the brain is reduced. This deprives the brain of oxygen and the nutrients, which causes
brain cells to die. It can also be caused by a blocked arteryor the leaking of a blood vessel.
Mayoclinic.org says that about 85% of strokes are ischemic strokes. They also said that ischemic
strokes occur when the arteries to the brain become narrowed, causing severely reduced blood flow.

Transfer Pricing--Market-Based vs. Cost-Based
Introduction
Transfer pricing is one of the key factors of a management control system, which helps a company
to achieve its goals, including profit maximization and tax minimization.
There are several methods of setting transfer prices among profit centers within the same
organization. Each profit center tries to set transfer prices which maximize their own profit. The
buying and selling profit centers profits are largely affected by transfer prices. For example, when
a high transfer price is charged, the selling division s profits increase, while the buying division s
costs increase. So, transfer pricing should be established on a reasonable and objective basis, which
should maximize the companywide profit, rather than being based on ... Show more content on

The company should consider whether the transfer pricing method has simplicity and transparency,
which provide objective performance measurements for division managers. With regard to
simplicity and transparency, it is best for the company to set market based transfer pricing because
this is more objective than cost based transfer pricing. In particular, when companies use cost based
transfer pricing, it is difficult to evaluate division performance unless the transfer prices exceed full
costs.
Generally, a company can save more money and effort through internal sales compared with
external sales, due to the absence of customer credit checking or collecting. In addition, market
based transfer prices contribute to the evaluation of the economic viability and profitability of
profit centers individually. Market based transfer pricing portrays the real market supply and
demand more clearly because, when supply exceeds demand, market prices may decrease, so
market based transfer prices decrease as well.
However, market based transfer pricing has several disadvantages. You cannot use the market
based transfer pricing method when there is no market price in the market. For example, when the
selling division makes specially customized products for the buying division, you cannot get a
market price for the products. Similarly, in the case of a pharmaceutical company selling patent
protected drugs, you cannot get an appropriate market price for

Persuasive Essay Holidays
Thanksgiving is the holiday for family gatherings. Air travel analysts have coined it the most

gathering at grandma s for that coveted feast of thanks is high on the family priority list. But not
all is as blissful as the famous Norman Rockwell portrayed. Familycan equal stress, lots of stress.
All that traveling makes for weary, cranky guests. Then there is the overcrowded accommodations,
unequal division of chores and the dreadful family gossip. So many aspects of this holidaycan leave
one overwhelmed and contemplating the true meaning of giving thanks.
Packing for the holidays away from home can be a chore within itself. Many things need to be
taken into consideration. One needs to be informed of the weather conditions to assure proper
attire. Many times there are also children and others in the family that need assistance with this.
Also you need to consider if you will be spending a lot of time outdoors. If your family plans a

Grandma will be sending you out to fetch the christmas tree or assist in the delightful chore of
outdoor holiday house decorating. In any case, obviously a great deal of thought needs to go into
the packing process.

The Backyard Of My Father s Rickety House Essay
There used to be a small town in the backyard of my father s rickety house. It wasn t constructed
by carpenters or designed by architects. This primitive village was built by children with
overactive imaginations and an abundance of time. In fact, I was the one, who came up with
the idea to build it. During the summer of 2010, my two stepsisters and I had exhausted all of
our summer activity options. Everyday, we were in the pool or riding our shiny bikes up and
down the gravel driveway. Even though I only visited my father for a week at most, I couldn t
help, but feel like these activities were becoming repetitive and unenjoyable. Commonly, this
would cause anyone to search for something else more interesting to spend their time on. I found
that something to be an untouched wooded area on the side of my father s property. No one
usually went near there due to the glass and the creatures living under the leaves. Whenever it
would rain, snakes would emerge from those woods to play in the puddles near our house. Needless
to say, it took a few years for a group of girls to work up the courage to explore the snake s natural
habitat. Before my step sisters and I started to clear the forest, we had to ask for permission to
use our parent s yard tools. Sadly, I had sent my step sister Kelsey to ask because I was too afraid
that my step mother would say no . In short, my step parent was a tall, blond woman in her early

Vitamin C Structure
Vitamin C is an organic compound that is also known as ascorbic acid. The molecular formula for
Vitamin C is C6O8H6. This structure contains a 5 membered ring. Vitamin C contains 4 alcohol
functional groups, an alkene, and an ester. Within the ring it contains one double bond, the
carbon=carbon bond in the ring structure, this is an alkene functional group. The Vitamin C
structure also contains an ester which helps form the five membered ring.
Vitamin C is a water soluble vitamin and a polar molecule because it contains other polar molecules
and very little hydrocarbons. The polar groups in the Vitamin C are the four alcohol functional
groups which contain oxygen and the ester functional group that also contains oxygen. The alkene
functional group in the ring structure contains carbon=carbon bonds which is a non polar molecule.
Since there is very little hydrocarbons present in the Vitamin C structure compared to the polar
molecules within the structure, this means it is a polar molecule overall.
Fat soluble vitamins and water soluble are the two groups of vitamins. Vitamin C is a water
soluble vitamin. Vitamin C is a polar molecule which means that it is only soluble in other polar
solvents but are insoluble in non polar solvents. Vitamin C is soluble in water because water is
also a polar solvent hence why Vitamin C is a water soluble vitamin because Vitamin C is insoluble
in fat because fat is non polar.
Although the body cannot store Vitamin C it is vital to human

Right in the center of Azurg there was a dark and gloomy empire filled with hundreds of
thousands of fang bearing, fearsome creatures who crafted crude weapons out of metal they
gained from fallen warriors whom they slayed, but in the center of the empire there was a lone
tower, and in this tower there was a conjurer of dark magic whom no man had ever seen, for once
you saw him, you never escaped with your life. This sorcererremained nameless because no one
could describe him because no one ever got a look at him before his or her time was ended. No one
ever knew what that creature was doing up in his tower but one day nearly fifty years ago this
good world figured it out. One day the sorcererreleased darkness over all the land of Gwyndor, all
the villages and towns of Gwyndor were destroyed and none who stood up to him succeeded.
However on one fateful day all the inhabitants of Gwyndor came together, Men, Elves, and
Dwarves marched onto the border of Azurg. A company of men led by the ruler

Rachel Cohn Cupcake
Cupcake is a novel written by Rachel Cohn. Cohn wrote Cupcake in 2007. Cohn is an author that
blew up in 2002, with her first book titled Gingerbread. In Cohn s last book, Cyd Charisse moved
to New York City away from her stunning boyfriend Shrimp. In Cupcake, we learn what happens
to Cyd in the scary town of New York City. Rachel Cohn is an American young adult fiction
writer .
Her first book, Gingerbread, was published in 2002. (Teen Reads, 2016). In Cupcake, Cohn in my
opinion is trying to teach kids how life is outside of their parents home. Cupcake is a fictional novel
teaching kids living on your own, is not an easy task. Cyd Charisse, also known as CC, is a young
adult moving to New York to fulfill her parents dream of going to culinary

A Report On The Toms Website
In 2006 the founder of TOMS, Blake Mycoskie, stumbled upon an innovative idea while traveling
in Argentina. He noticed that many of the children lacked proper footwear and he wanted to make
an effort to fix this problem. Mycoskie devised a plan for a company that would involve giving
shoes to those who needed them with every purchase of TOMS shoes. Today, this business has
expanded by providing the things necessary for all human beings. There are many key details on
the TOMS website that emphasize the many aspects of the company. These include the product
links and descriptions that further inform the customerof the company s good works, the many
heartfelt pictures which appeal to the emotions and the links at the bottom of the page that... Show

The children s shoes that are showcased on the site prove to be slightly less expensive and fall
within the $25 $70 category. Taking a look at the other various products further illustrates the
target market with prices of eyewear ranging from $75 $200 and bags reaching prices in the
three hundreds. The coffee roasts that are offered under the Shop link all seem to have a general
price of about $13, however, the option of joining TOMS roasting club is given which includes
the opportunity to receive the roasts on a monthly basis with a set pay of either $12 for a 12
ounce bag or up to $62 for a 5 pound bag. In order for someone to be able to participate in the
TOMS roasting club, they would have to be making sufficient funds a month that allow for them
to pay such a hefty cost for coffee that could be bought for a cheaper price at the local grocery
store. Although these prices appear somewhat extreme for the products they are advertised for, the
customers that are looking to purchase any TOMS products know that the price is worth it in
exchange for the happiness of others. The Marketplace link, for example, leads the customer to a
wide variety of products including clothing, accessories, jewelry, as well as products for the home
and merchandise to be bought as a gift for a friend. When a potential customer discovers something
that they might buy,

Cause Of Biodiversity
The main cause of the loss of biodiversity can be attributed to the influence of human beings on the
world s ecosystem, In fact human beings have deeply altered the environment, and have modified
the territory, exploiting the species directly, for example by fishing and hunting, changing the
biogeochemical cycles and transferring speciesfrom one area to another of the Planet.
The threats to biodiversity can be summarized in the following main points: o Alteration and loss of
the habitats: the transformation of the natural areas determines not only the loss of the vegetable
species, but also a decrease in the animal species associated to them. o Introduction of exotic species
and genetically modified organisms: species originating from a particular area, introduced into new
natural environments can lead to different forms of imbalance in the ecological equilibrium. o
Pollution: human activity influences the natural environment producing negative, direct or indirect,
effects that alter the flow of energy, the chemical and physical constitution of the environment and
abundance of the species; o Climate change: for example, heating of the Earth s surface affects
biodiversity because it endangers all the species that adapted to the cold due to the latitude (the
Polar species) or the altitude (mountain species). o Overexploitation of resources: when the
activities connected with capturing and harvesting (hunting, fishing, farming) a renewable natural
resource in a

Examples Of Hero s Journey In Star Wars
The movie Star Wars is the perfect example of a modern hero s journey. Luke Skywalker wanted
to stay home with his uncle and tend the farm, but C3PO and R2D2 needed help so he went with
them to defeat Darth Vader. In the end Luke defeated Vader s space station and was a savior or
hero to everyone. Although some people may say that Star Warsis not a good example of a hero s
journey because it does not show some part of the hero s journey. I believe that Luke Skywalkeris
undertaking the hero s journey process since he undergoes every step including, departure, journey,
and return. To conclude, I believe that Luke Skywalker is the perfect example of a hero.
One reason why Luke Skywalker is the perfect example of a hero comes from one of the ... Show

Luke s journey starts when he is inside the millennium falcon with Han Solo, Chewy, Obi wan, R2
D2, and C3 P0. During this event, they soon come to see a planet, which turned out not be a
planet, but to be the Death Star. The Death Star we soon find out is the ship of Darth Vader. Han
Solo tries to turn around but it is too late. They are soon entering the Death Star. When they get
inside, they hear that Princess Leia, the woman from the video message, is trapped in a prison
cell and is due to be executed. This is one of the first obstacles for the team, because now they
have to rescue Princess Leia from her death, but it isn t as hard as they think. Luke and Han Solo
come up with the idea to wear the Storm Trooper uniforms, the uniforms of the military defense
of the Death Star. Luke is able to sneak into the cell where Leia is kept, and therefore completes
his first obstacle, but there are many more to come. After rescuing Leia, she then becomes one
of his allies, and will help him later in the movie. The next and probably the most substantial
challenge that the group faces is to escape with the Death Star with the layout of the Death Star
inside of R2 D2. While trying to do this they are all being shot at by Storm Troopers, but they
were still able to escape. Well almost all of them. Obi wan Kenobi sacrificed himself to Darth
Vader so the others could escape the Death Star. This then leads to the final confrontation, with
the outline of the Death Star, Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, Chewy, C3 PO, R2 D2, and Princess
Leia, have to figure out a way to attack the Death Star. Luke is in an X Wing Fighter Plane and he
makes the last shot, therefore blowing up the Death Star and everyone inside. In conclusion, Luke
Skywalker is the perfect example of a hero because he shows the second step of the hero s journey

The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas
Without evil, good would not exist either and that s one of the themes that is explored in The
Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas . In Omelas, every citizen is posed with a moral dilemma in
which they can either succumb to the society s viewpoint or walk away from the city and in my
creative piece, I voice the opinion from a person who left Omelas and explain the reasons of
why I left. The narrative of LeGuin s short story is told in first person, seeming to be just an
observer of the city. The story of Omelas is told without emotion while also void of judgment,
which really allows the readers to form their own objectives. The city is first introduced to its
readers as a society that is filled with only joy, with glimpses of all the cheerful... Show more

In my creative piece, I was a person who walked away from omelas and in my first paragraph, I
explained to my mom how I made my decision. It is a recall of the day the terms of the city s
happiness were revealed and I decided to that because in LeGuin s story, the actions of the ones
who leave are vaguely explained, but their thought process and reasoning are not. In that
paragraph I used the quotes, even if the child could be released, it would not get much good of
its freedom and been afraid too long ever to be free of fear (LeGuin, 1973) as the way the society
s actions are reasoned to a person by their mom. I thought it emphasized the difference in
morality of those who stay and those who leave. The people in the city constantly dehumanize the
child, acting as though he/she is just another useful tool in their society. While they have very
few laws in Omelas, they have a rule concerning the child. The terms are strict and absolute; there
may not even be a kind word spoken to the child. Furthermore, they kick and stare and even the
narrator refers to the child as it . In my creative piece, I never once called the child, it, to
emphasize the difference in which the child is

The Effects Of Diabetes And Driving Ability
There have been a variety of studies performed trying to determine the effects of diabetes and
driving ability. The possible negative effects on top of preexisting concerns about the safety of the
elderly driving only adds to the seriousness of the situation. Driving under the influence is illegal
because it is not safe, and Cox, Fonder Frederick, Kovatchev, Julian, and Clarke s study (2000),
Progressive Hypoglycemias Impact on Driving Simulation Performance, proves there to be potential
serious harm because of impairment. The researchers hypothesized that low blood sugar, also called
hypoglycemia, could impair one s driving ability.
The study consisted of 37 adults with type 1 diabetes. All participants have had diabetes for a
minimum of two years, have taken insulin, are current drivers, and not be taking any medications
that influence hypoglycemia or driving factors. There were 16 men and 21 women. On average,
the participants have had diabetes for 17.5 В± 10 years. There were three general issues
investigated. First, was the blood glucose levels where driving impairment was first observed.
Second, the blood glucose levels at which the person detects impairments and whether or not they
take corrective action by pulling over or drinking soda. And lastly, the actual underlying
mechanisms related to the awareness and corrective behavior. They conducted the study by closely
monitoring many factors while they participated in a realistic driving simulation course. The

Introduction Of Late Adulthood And Retirement
Introduction Late adulthood and retirement
Marie Edith Oyourou
From the time humans are conceived to their death they go through different stages of development
in this sequence: infancy, early childhood, adolescence, early adulthood and late adulthood. Those
different stages of development present characteristics which are particular to each stage. The last
decade had seen an increase with people age sixty and above. Consequently, this aging population
has significant effects on many aspect of society. Life expectancy which was of 50 years in the 19th
century had tremendously increase. Indeed the factors contributing to the longevity include; public

Additionally, some theories of development in late adulthood deal with the ways in which we can
approach our relationships, our changing bodies, our mental capacities, transitions in intimate
relationship, our families, society in a large and voluntaries or involuntary relocation. Among them,
Erks Erikson s psychosocial theory is determined by the stage of ego integrity versus despair
characterized by maintaining the belief that life is meaningful and worthwhile despite the physical
decline and the inevitability of death (Rathus, 2017). In the Disengagement theory older people and
society mutually withdraw from one another as older people approach death. As to the Activity
theory it states that older adults are better adjusted when they are more active and involved in
physical and social activities. For the Socio emotional selectivity theory, it addresses the
development of older adults social network. Additionally, during late adulthood different
psychological issue can affect the older adult such as self esteem issue, or independence versus
dependence issue. Plus some psychological problems can occur such as depression and anxiety
disorders. Another important factor is the social context in aging. Communities, housing for holder
peoples, family, social relationships, leisure activities, and adjustment to retirement are important
factors to cross this stage of development successfully.

Managing Team Conflict
Managing Team Conflict
Introduction
Teams are considered the catalyst and solution to the challenge of attaining very complex, highly
integrated goals and objectives across an enterprise. The emphasis on teams is so significant today
that it is common to find their use across broad geographic distances, ensuring an organization has
access to the best talent globally regardless of location. This is the concept of virtual teams, and
their continual and rapid adoption is reordering the management and leadership landscape in many
organizations today (Ayoko, Konrad, Boyle, 2012). The existence of virtual teams is also
completely changing the nature of team conflict as well (Purvanova, Bono, 2009). The intent of this
analysis is to evaluate the best practices leaders can use to bring change into their organizations
successfully, while also using management and leadership strategies to prevent and minimize
conflict. The techniques that have proven successful in minimizing conflict are also discussed.
Organizational Change, Team Conflict Managementand Resolution
The strongest catalyst that leads to successful change management over time is the commitment
from a leader within the organization to support the transition and mitigate the negative effect on
employees (Felfe, Schyns, 2004). This is continually seen in the context of how transformational
leaders are excellent at being examples of how an organization needs to change by showing through
their own activity that a

American Plantation Social Classes
Social classes have existed throughout all of history. The categorizing of slaves on American
Plantations is often overlooked, but there were in fact many levels of slave classes. The use of a
class system helped plantation owners to punish and reward their slaves as well as to keep their
business organized. The lowest class of slaves was those who did field labor. They had the
poorest food, housing, and clothes. These bad conditions motivated them to work harder to earn
better positions. The second class of slaves was the boatmen and the cooks. They had slightly
better food, clothing, and housing than the field labors. Their fear being debunked back to the
field labor prevented them from disobeying. The next class of slaves was the skilled

Characteristics Of Queen Elizabeth A Machiavellian Ruler
A Machiavellian ruler is ravenous, manipulative, ingenious, intriguing, and authoritative as
described in Niccolo Machiavelli s book, The Prince. Queen Elizabeth I of England is the daughter
of Anne Boleyn and King Henry VIII. Unfortunately, her mother was executed by King Henry VII;
her father remarried numerously throughout her childhood causing distress and constant change.
Throughout King Henry s multiple marriages, Elizabeth acquired step siblings, Queen Mary I of
Englandand King Edward VI of England; Mary also eventually succeeded the throne after Edward
s death. As Mary ruled she developed a cancerous tumor, Mary held Elizabeth hostage in the Tower
of London until she promised to keep Catholicism in England. However, Elizabeth neither agreed

compromises, strengthening England s power, and developing a sense of unity between
Protestants and Catholic (Beck, Black, Krieger, Naylor, and Shabaka 60). In addition, Queen
Elizabeth created the Poor Laws throughout 1563 1601, which were a series of laws that
established a tax that would benefit the poor by decreasing poverty ( Briscoe, Alexandra Poverty in

Farenheit 451- Lit By Ray Bradbury
Fahrenheit 451 Lit. Critique
The title of the book I read was Fahrenheit 451. The book was written by Ray Bradbury and was
published in 1951. This book is about a dystopian America where there is extreme censorship and
any media (mainly books) that questions the government is burned by a branch called the Firemen.
The main character whose name is Guy Montag is a fireman who begins to realize that what he s
doing is wrong after meeting a young girl named Clarisse. As the book goes on it is revealed that
Montag had been stashing books in his vents for a long time and tried to show them to his wife,
but she doesn t want anything to do with it. His wife Mildred towards the end of the book
actually ends up reporting him to the Firemen, when she does this Montag is at work and shows
up on the call to witness his wife get into a taxi and leave him. Then to throw salt in the wound the
Fireman Captain Beatty forces Montag to burn his own house to the ground before being arrested
for possession of illegal media, but after Montag burns the house he turns on Beatty burning him
with the flamethrower and knocking out the other two firemen before fleeing. After having finished
reading it I thought that this book was really good, it kept my attention the whole time and had a
big surprise at the end. (The full ending is not included in the summary.) This book also has many
sad moments that let you relate to the protagonist.
My favorite character in this book is Guy Montag. The reason that

Design Of Audit Trails And Data Quality Monitoring Programs
Recommend elements included in the design of audit trails and data quality monitoring programs
Audit trails are a set of guidelines that are developed for purposes of maintaining a record of all
the activities of the system and the application that are done by the system users. Importantly,
audit trails are highly used in the process of detecting any form of security violations in the
system, performance issues, and any flaws in the applications. Some of the key elements of audit
trails include original source documents, transaction history database, and safe storage capabilities.
For purposes of making sure that the healthcare data is safe, there are a number of policies that
have been developed to make audit trials more efficient and effective. In this, some of the policies
that have been developed include the network access for third parties, records managementand
security networked devices. The network access for third parties policy tries to make an
explanation of the conditions under which the third parties accessing the healthcare facilities are
allowed to access the information contained in the database. The records management policy on the
other hand tries to offer an explanation of the records management requirements that may include
the procedures of records retention and disposal. Additionally, he policy of security networked
devices tries to offer an explanation of all the responsibilities that are given to the different data
users in making sure that all

Essay On Homelessness In The United States
Homelessness in the United States
During the 1980 s the number of homeless people, those without a house in which to reside,
increased at an alarming rate. Many analysts have given much time and thought as to the reasons
that this phenomenon occurred. They cite economic instability and government policies with facts
and figures to support their work. Beyond the research and cold statistics that explain this event, are
the victims, and those that worked to help relieve their hardship. An interview with Philip Guerrieri

  • 2. Smith s Animal Works Of Art From Broken Electronics And... A number of modern day artists are transforming common, everyday trash into notable works of art. Sayaka Ganz hopes to reduce waste through creative use of discarded objects. Paul Villinski collects discarded beer cans from New York streets and transforms them into cross cultural symbols of rebirth. Ann P. Smith creates animal works of art from broken electronics and machine parts. However, the concept that lies behind all these artists work is nothing new. Jesushas been practicing the exact same kind of artistry for thousands of years. During one of his Sabbath day synagogue visits, the Pharisees confronted Jesus with a man with a withered hand and challenged him about whether it was acceptable to heal such a man on the Sabbath. For Jesus the answer was painfully obvious: He said to them, Which one of you who has a sheep, if it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will not take hold of it and lift it out? Of how much more value is a man than a sheep! So it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath. Then he said to the man, Stretch out your hand. And the man stretched it out, and it was restored, healthy like the other. Matthew 12:11 12 Like a modern day upcycling artist, Jesus restored this man s useless, withered hand to make it productive and healthy. However, such healings are only one form of Jesus artistic work. While the events concerning this crippled man are recorded by Matthew, Mark, and Luke, Matthew connects them with Old Testament prophecies concerning the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

An Igbo Folklore That Matter Stories that Matter Maybe if I thought about things differently my life would have been better, but sometimes or even most of times things are just what they are right or wrong. There is an Igbo folklore that I am going to tell you about the tortoise and the birds. Once, there was a feast in the heavens and all the birds were invited, not the tortoise. However, because of the cunning nature of the tortoise, he wanted to go with the birds. But, how was he going to do that? Well, he had to look for a way to fly so he decided to borrow feathers from the birds with the trick that he was going to be their spokesperson. But then, things changed as got they got to heaven. The tortoise told the officials that his name was All of you, so when all the foods and gifts came, the officials said this is for all of you, and the tortoise claimed everything for himself. The birds got so angry they all left him stranded in heaven except for the Parrot. The tortoise sent a message through the Parrot to his family to bring out all the soft things in his house so he could land on them, but the Parrot still enraged told his family otherwise. All the hard things were brought out and the tortoise landed on them, which is the reason why the tortoise has a broken shell today. I was told this story over and over again growing up, and I have lived with it ever since. Do I believe or not? That is for me to answer. Do you believe or not? That is for you to answer. • 4. Black Diamonds Research Paper There is nothing like the feeling of rushing down the slopes with the wind blowing by and the sun shining down, as the landscape of the mountains outstretches before you. While traversing the frigid ridge can be an exhilarating refuge from the routine of normal life, there are certain things that must be known about the difficulty of the slopes. It is better to focus on the splendor of it all rather than worry about making it down safely. To make slopes easier to identify, they are categorized by colors and shapes that correspond with the difficulty of the terrain. American identifications group terrain into four classes; greencircles, blue squares, black diamonds, and double black diamonds. Green circles are gentle beginner level slopes. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These vary greatly in terrain and obstacles and can be found in many places. They tend to be on the back side of the mountain, but getting to them is where it really varies. You may take an old hidden ski lift, or come off a main lift to hike up a steep incline to get to the riskiest slopes. Black diamonds are not for beginners, as they are almost always steep and quite narrow. You will find obstacles on these, whether it be rocks or bumps, sharp turns, or through trees. Tree runs could be a category of their own. The trees could be closely knit, or sparsely placed. It may be a narrow singular path, or might be untouched completely. It s important to take turns if you re going with a group of people, which is a smart choice to make sure you won t get lost on your own. This is because it s quite easy to fall or get stuck, so you may need help. While all of these are great, my favorite run is a drop off. This is a vertical drop about five feet down, followed by a steep, powdery, challenging run. These are ones that you almost always have to hike to, and the most dangerous slope requires a hike up a very steep incline. These are the only slopes I haven t been on, and are extremely steep, narrow, one person at a time runs. Black diamonds are not meant for beginners, and you should not go on them unless you know how to traverse something like ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. How To Write An Essay On Irish Travellers By Gmelch Imagine a life of travelling the countryside, going wherever you wish in a canvas topped caravan pulled by your loyal horses. This is and was the life of the Irish population known as Travellers. In their book Irish Travellers, sociologists Sharon Gmelch and George Gmelch record their observations of one of the least studied ethnic groups today. In their research, they learn a about the benefits and hardships of a life on the road, the prejudice from settled folk, and the unique struggles of adjusting to stationary life under forced government housing. This book shows the unique and deeply personal experiences of Travellers, allowing them to speak for themselves with meticulously documented interviews, in addition to seeing high quality photographs... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Between the two of them, they have written twenty one books on various cultures and ethnic groups. At the University of San Francisco, they teach several classes on women s and cultural studies in addition to anthropology. Their research of Irish Travellers was made into an acclaimed documentary called Unsettled From Tinkers to Travellers. They first traveled to Irelandto study Travelers in the 1970s. After their first trip, their second trip in 2011 would seek to answer [h]ow has settlement changed Traveller s lives and their understanding of who they are? How do different generations of Travellers make sense of it all? (Gmelch 7). These questions were motivated by the recent change in Ireland of Ireland [joining] the European Economic Community... which boosted the country s economy, with the side effect that Travellers in Ireland were no longer nomads...the vast majority live in houses (Gmelch 7). This represented a major change for the Travellers, who had likely been a nomadic people throughout the majority of Irish history. • 6. Secondary Structure Prediction When analyzing the secondary structure predictions of the query sequence from the five prediction programs, the majority of the programs seemed to detect the presence of one long, uninterrupted helix on the N terminal side of the pilE protein. However, some programs, such as PORTER (Pollastri et al., 2005) and SSpro (Magnan et al., 2014) indicated the presence of two helices interrupted by a small gap of random coils. While these results appear to contradict each other at first, upon further inspection, this can be explained by the fact that when two helices are very close to each other, some algorithms may erroneously pick it up as 1 long helix since secondary prediction programs are not 100% accurate. Thus, in the consensus secondary... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One possible reason for this discrepancy that while these species represent species that are homologs of each other, some of their secondary structures may slightly differ from one another. Another possible reason for this discrepancy may be because, as briefly mentioned before, secondary structure prediction programs are not always accurate and thus, there could have been an error made in one of the programs, allowing for detection of an extra beta strand or for a beta strand to go undetected. This is perfectly illustrated by the PORTER server, which mysteriously predicts a helix spanning amino acid residues 104 113 of the query sequence when all the other programs predicted either a beta strand or random coil in that range instead (Figure 1b). Since PORTER was the only program to predict a helix in this range, it is considered an outlier and thus, it can largely be ignored as an error when making the consensus secondary structure prediction. The initial domain architecture was generated based on the known pilE protein in Neisseria gonorrhoeae (control sequence) and consisted of two domains, the N terminal domain and the pilA domain. Using the metaserver InterPro, the N terminal domain was predicted to span amino acid residues 2 29, while the pilA domain was predicted to span residues 36 161 (Finn et al., 2017). Although there seemed to be a somewhat high correspondence between the secondary structure prediction analysis and the domain architecture ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The old and traditional model just focuses only on profit and benefits for the company but triple bottom line concept proves that by just focusing on the profits company becomes unsustainable and gradually starts losing its profits over the period of time. Due to its scalability, wireless sensor networks is used in many applications. Among various wireless networks, Mobile Ad hoc networks has been one of the unique network. Unlike other network architectures, MANETs have no central architecture; every node is free to work both as a transmitter and receiver. Every single node can communicate freely with every other node which is in their communication range. Otherwise, it depends on neighboring nodes to relay messages. Due to this nature, MANETs are used in many missionary applications like military use and emergency recovery. However the wide distribution of MANETs makes it... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This can be any medium such as cellular or satellite transmission. MANETs can work both as a host and a router. Since, there is no central infrastructure and nodes are free to move, the neighboring nodes help in data transmission that are not in the communication range. This can be achieved by dividing the MANETs into two types of networks i.e. single hop network and multihop network. In a single hop wireless network all the nodes communicate directly with every other node. In multi hop network, the neighboring nodes help in transmitting the data that are not its communication range, which is an added advantage to MANETs. Due to this wide distribution of MANETs makes it vulnerable o malicious attacks. For example, due to lack of protection, attackers can easily induce malicious nodes in the network. In particular, nodes in MANETs assumes every other node to be ignorant and behaves cooperatively with other nodes. This makes attackers to easily compromise other nodes to achieve attacks. Furthermore, because of decentralized architecture of MANETs, a centralized detecting technique is no longer appropriate. Hence it is necessary to implement a detection system especially for MANETs. Existing System As discussed, the nodes in MANETs assume every other node to cooperatively transmit the messages; the attackers can easily induce malicious nodes into the network. Hence a secure system has to be implemented to detect the attackers, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. What Is The Mood Of The Poem Valentine By Carol Ann Duffy The poem, Valentine, by Carol Ann Duffy, is the epitome of how conventional love and events such as Valentine s Day is pure asinine and downright ludicrous. She illustrates this by utilising a myriad of literary techniques, such as symbolism, imagery and word choice; in order to reveal the realities of love. It can be disputed that Duffy allows her readers to fathom the enigmatic feeling known as love through Valentine. Duffy s coherent use of language features help depict and accentuate this in Valentine, by enabling her readers to feel a sense of sincerity rather than the cliched ethereal facade which is masqueraded in sugar, spice, and everything nice. Throughout the poem, Duffy utilises the use of symbolism to compare love to an onion. This symbolises, that although love is said to be euphoric, it can also provoke tears. An example of this can be seen in lines 7 and 8 where Duffy says, It will blind you with tears like a lover. By this, she means that onions contain a strong chemical in which causes us to cry when we cut them; similar to when we are crying over ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is especially evident in lines nine and ten where she says It will make your reflection a wobbly photo of grief. This is implying that onions bring anguish and discomfort whilst being cut which causes us to cry. Their chemical compound causes tears and when crying, everything we see appears wobbly. From this example, the author makes the reader visualise a grimaced face of tears and grief whilst looking at their reflection which appears wobbly. The word photo implies an ephemeral moment that was captured, the word wobbling allows us to assume that tears were spilt causing their vision to become hazy, hence leaving behind a wobbling photo of grief. Yet again, Duffy has managed to make effective use of a language feature in order to change the readers perception of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Even though I have not yet completed my degree I can already tell you how much difference a college education has made in my way of thinking just during two semesters. Have you ever watched a movie and thought how lucky some of those actors are because they never have to go to college? What if I told you that you were wrong, a lot of actors and athletes have a college education, and some even went to school after they became famous. Several of Hollywood s elite actors and actresses understand the importance of higher education. Natalie Portman majored in psychology from Harvard and graduated in 2003 after she was already famous. Dakota Fanning is currently studying at NYU years after she first hit the big screen. After completed the movie series Harry Potter, Emma Watson graduated last year from Brown University and Oxford. The one actor who stands out the most to me is James Franco, he not only went to college he graduated from UCLA in 2008, Columbia in 2010, and is currently enrolled at Yale, while teaching writing classes at UCLA and NYU (Lai). • 15. Causes Of The Korean War Intro The Korean war left 2.5 million people dead more than half of which civilians, nearly 10% of Korea s total population. With the war officially starting in June of 1950 it took almost three years of North and South Korea battling until the armistice was signed in July of 1953. The ongoing cold war between America and Russia can be linked to as to why the Korean conflict was originally initiated. Still to this day the border between North and South Korea is a heated zone, there is little to no hope of a united Korea anytime soon. Short term cause American troops began to leave South Korea around mid 1949 with Dean Acheson Releasing a speech in January 1950 stating that the US would no longer commit their forces to mainland Asia. Acheson saying that their defensive perimeter ran through Japan and the Ryukyu but not the Republic of Korea or the Republic of China, The defensive perimeter runs along the Aleutians to Japan and then goes to the Ryukyus. We hold important defence positions in the Ryukyu Islands, and those we will continue to hold . The recent withdrawal of American troops from South Korea gave Kim Il Sung an opportunity to make a push towards South Korea Although; he could not do this alone, he would need the help of Stalin. This helps the reader realise that identity and self worth are important within a child s life and can change the type of person they are. Also more people tend to fly durring the winter. In order to keep the cabin pressurized, the airplane circulates the air, and that means that if one person has a cold and coughs then the whole plane will have a great chance to become infected. Also at higher altitudes, the air seriously dries out the nasal membrane in the nose and therefore make a person more susceptible to the virus. Because of this, experts like Laurie Tarkan suggest to drink allot of water while flying in an airplane, about eight ounces for every hour that you are on the airplane (202, The Common Cold 2). I always watched The Little Mermaid, but watching it now is very different. When you are younger you just watch things because you like them, you do not necessarily understand them. As you get older you realize what you were really being taught. Walt Disney s movie The Little Mermaiddisplays a lot of sexism and displays how society should see women and how women should act. In Walt Disney s movie The Little MermaidAriel is constantly under power of a man. Her dad, King Triton is the number one man who has power over her. When she gets married to Prince Eric he then also has power over her and always will. He is a Prince and she is just a woman who happens to be his wife with very little power. Throughout the movie Ariel is not allowed to make her own decisions. Her dad is always telling her not to do this and not to do that. Also her two male friends Flounder, a fish and Sebastian, a crab also tell her not to do things and always follow her around so she is never alone under her father s orders. When she finally gets to make her own decision to give Ursula her voice to be a human they try and portray it as she made the wrong decision because she did it by herself and a man did not choose it for her. In the song Poor Unfortunate Souls that Ursula sings it is telling girls to be quite for men and do what they need, basically telling girls that they are objects. Girls are always shown in movies as someone with no power. They are either cleaning or cooking in the house or they are a damsel in distress needing to be saved by a man. Girls are displayed as objects and there is a certain way they are supposed to look so that they appeal to society s needs. Ariel fits that description. She is very small and thin, she is pretty, she has nice eyes, and she has very vibrant colors on her. She has red hair, blueish brown eyes a purple top and a green tail. • 36. Transfer Pricing--Market-Based vs. Cost-Based Introduction Transfer pricing is one of the key factors of a management control system, which helps a company to achieve its goals, including profit maximization and tax minimization. There are several methods of setting transfer prices among profit centers within the same organization. Each profit center tries to set transfer prices which maximize their own profit. The buying and selling profit centers profits are largely affected by transfer prices. For example, when a high transfer price is charged, the selling division s profits increase, while the buying division s costs increase. So, transfer pricing should be established on a reasonable and objective basis, which should maximize the companywide profit, rather than being based on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The company should consider whether the transfer pricing method has simplicity and transparency, which provide objective performance measurements for division managers. With regard to simplicity and transparency, it is best for the company to set market based transfer pricing because this is more objective than cost based transfer pricing. In particular, when companies use cost based transfer pricing, it is difficult to evaluate division performance unless the transfer prices exceed full costs. Generally, a company can save more money and effort through internal sales compared with external sales, due to the absence of customer credit checking or collecting. In addition, market based transfer prices contribute to the evaluation of the economic viability and profitability of profit centers individually. Market based transfer pricing portrays the real market supply and demand more clearly because, when supply exceeds demand, market prices may decrease, so market based transfer prices decrease as well. However, market based transfer pricing has several disadvantages. You cannot use the market based transfer pricing method when there is no market price in the market. For example, when the selling division makes specially customized products for the buying division, you cannot get a market price for the products. Similarly, in the case of a pharmaceutical company selling patent protected drugs, you cannot get an appropriate market price for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This primitive village was built by children with overactive imaginations and an abundance of time. In fact, I was the one, who came up with the idea to build it. During the summer of 2010, my two stepsisters and I had exhausted all of our summer activity options. Everyday, we were in the pool or riding our shiny bikes up and down the gravel driveway. Even though I only visited my father for a week at most, I couldn t help, but feel like these activities were becoming repetitive and unenjoyable. Commonly, this would cause anyone to search for something else more interesting to spend their time on. I found that something to be an untouched wooded area on the side of my father s property. No one usually went near there due to the glass and the creatures living under the leaves. Whenever it would rain, snakes would emerge from those woods to play in the puddles near our house. Needless to say, it took a few years for a group of girls to work up the courage to explore the snake s natural habitat. Before my step sisters and I started to clear the forest, we had to ask for permission to use our parent s yard tools. Sadly, I had sent my step sister Kelsey to ask because I was too afraid that my step mother would say no . Vitamin C contains 4 alcohol functional groups, an alkene, and an ester. Within the ring it contains one double bond, the carbon=carbon bond in the ring structure, this is an alkene functional group. The Vitamin C structure also contains an ester which helps form the five membered ring. Vitamin C is a water soluble vitamin and a polar molecule because it contains other polar molecules and very little hydrocarbons. The polar groups in the Vitamin C are the four alcohol functional groups which contain oxygen and the ester functional group that also contains oxygen. The alkene functional group in the ring structure contains carbon=carbon bonds which is a non polar molecule. Since there is very little hydrocarbons present in the Vitamin C structure compared to the polar molecules within the structure, this means it is a polar molecule overall. Fat soluble vitamins and water soluble are the two groups of vitamins. Vitamin C is a water soluble vitamin. Vitamin C is a polar molecule which means that it is only soluble in other polar solvents but are insoluble in non polar solvents. Cause Of Biodiversity The main cause of the loss of biodiversity can be attributed to the influence of human beings on the world s ecosystem, In fact human beings have deeply altered the environment, and have modified the territory, exploiting the species directly, for example by fishing and hunting, changing the biogeochemical cycles and transferring speciesfrom one area to another of the Planet. The threats to biodiversity can be summarized in the following main points: o Alteration and loss of the habitats: the transformation of the natural areas determines not only the loss of the vegetable species, but also a decrease in the animal species associated to them. o Introduction of exotic species and genetically modified organisms: species originating from a particular area, introduced into new natural environments can lead to different forms of imbalance in the ecological equilibrium. o Pollution: human activity influences the natural environment producing negative, direct or indirect, effects that alter the flow of energy, the chemical and physical constitution of the environment and abundance of the species; o Climate change: for example, heating of the Earth s surface affects biodiversity because it endangers all the species that adapted to the cold due to the latitude (the Polar species) or the altitude (mountain species). o Overexploitation of resources: when the activities connected with capturing and harvesting (hunting, fishing, farming) a renewable natural resource in a ... This is the concept of virtual teams, and their continual and rapid adoption is reordering the management and leadership landscape in many organizations today (Ayoko, Konrad, Boyle, 2012).
