EDUCATING THE STAKEHOLDERS
• Environment Agency Pathfinder Projects
Delivered by 3 regional hubs
• Qualifications in Resilience- surveyors
• Wider training within the insurance industry to raise awareness
• Trade events and Seminars- Flood and Coast, Flood Expo
• Contractor training from product manufacturers

Future Resilience Framework
PROCESS
• Starts with the first contact with the policyholder setting expectations
• Restoration industries role is crucial in setting expectations:
q What is the buildings construction
q How resilient is the construction (what measures may have already been
installed (flood doors, sand cement render, resilient floor finishes)
q Can the building be dried with the assumption of resilience not strip out
• Surveyor needs to be involved to provide the advice on risk/opportunities
• Contractor undertaking repairs needs knowledge and skills in resilience

Future Resilience Framework
PRACTICAL DELIVERY
• Insurers need to stipulate suppliers follow Code of Practice
• Suppliers need to train their employees
• Partnerships need building within the supply chain
• Customer communication is key to changing behaviours

Future Resilience Framework
PRACTICAL DELIVERY
Natural State Behavioural Change Approach
Denial of risk Accept denial
Listen to what they want to hear Improve awareness
Optimistic not realistic Make resilience normalised
Act irrationally Make it part of the process
