8. Don’t deal with Federal Agencies
• Accessibility is a global requirement!
• US: Section 508, Section 255, ADA, ACAA & CVAA
• Europe: EN 301549 standards
• Canada: AODA …
• WCAG is universal guideline!

9. Our customers do not include people with disabilities
• Approximately 10% of the world’s population has some sort of disability
• Inaccessible solutions might be preventing them from using the solutions
• Don’t you want to include them in your customer base?
• Design inclusive solutions & increase your revenue!

10. Business benefits are limited
• Accessible design is nice-to-have but does not have business benefits
• Without business benefits – why would:
–Apple, Google, Microsoft, Amazon … include accessibility?
• Yes, Accessibility is a legal requirement and social responsibility
• Tremendous business benefits
–Drives innovation
–Increase customer base
–Higher revenue
–Brand loyalty!

11. Accessible designs are dull and boring
• Technology is becoming more & more robust
• Accessibility drives innovation
• Websites, software, mobile apps and games – accessible designs are everywhere
• Examples include:
–Barclay’s online banking
–Microsoft PowerPoint, Visio, Teams
–Apple TV, Podcast, Music & many more

12. Digital Accessibility is only about coding for screen reader support
• Screen reader support is only 1 component of Accessibility
• Accessibility is beyond screen readers and includes:
–Keyboard access, focus visibility
–Clear instructions, validations and labels
–Consistent navigation and identification
–Captions, Transcripts …

13. Accessibility is expensive and time consuming
• Implementing accessibility post development stage is costly!
• Include accessibility right from the planning stage
• Accessibility is not expensive at all!

14. Require Expertise with ARIA
• Native techniques are robust and easy to implement
• ARIA implementation is not always required
• Resources for implementing ARIA are easily available!

15. Can PWD use digital products?
Yes, they can!
Technology makes things easy for you & me
For people with disabilities, it makes things possible!
• Assistive technologies and customization are everywhere:
–Windows, Mac, Linux, Chrome OS
–iOS, Android …
• Technology helps PWD to:
–Bank and shop online
–Study and play games
–Work and watch movies
