The document discusses the benefits of implementing 1-to-1 iPad programs in K-12 education. It argues that iPads are easy for students to use, foster collaboration, stimulate learning, and allow students to experience school in a way that reflects the digital world. The document provides guidance on getting started with iPad integration, including curriculum development and assessing the impact on learning. It emphasizes that iPads are learning tools, not toys, and can create a paradigm shift in education by bringing technology into the classroom in a natural way.
The Role of Technology in the Future of EducationCyndi Masters
The United States’ public education system is failing. National rankings in science and math are at an all time low, and test scores have remained relatively stagnant since the 1970’s. It’s not about who should be blamed. A better question is who or what is going to lead that change. We believe the answer is technology. Come with us and explore the role technology will play in the future of American education.

The exploratory study reports the benefits, limitations and challenges, and blend mix of blended learning from the perspectives of students and lecturers for one of the part-time Australian MBAs currently conducted based on traditional classroom teaching at a private education institution in Singapore.
The data collected through semi-structured interviews with 10 existing MBA students and 10 lecturers teaching this MBA programme. In line with prior studies, while students recognise blended learning provides them with greater flexibility and improving their learning outcome and performance, they noted that discipline and commitment to online learning, reduced interaction, and resistance to changes were the three major weaknesses and challenges faced.
Lecturers also felt that though blended learning increased flexibility through designing the course curriculum to suit students with diverse learning style and pace, they noted that the resistance in learning new technology and heavy work load remain as two key challenges in introducing blended learning. Majority of the students preferred online learning to the introduced gradually over time.
The findings in this study provide useful insights to the university and institution in assessing the readiness of students and lecturers for blended learning, and taking appropriate measures for successful implementation of blended learning.

The Effect of Using Ipad on the Achievement of Children in Layla Kindergarten...iosrjce
This study investigated the effect of using the iPad on children’s achievement of Layla kindergarten
in Saudi Arabia, in Aflaj district, compared to the traditional method. The study sample was formed of (42)
male and female children during the second semester of the scholastic year 2013/2014. The sample population
were randomly selected using the simple sample selection and then distributed into two groups: the control
group (22children) were taught using the traditional method, and the experimental group (20children) were
taught using the iPad. An achievement multiple choice test was given to the population of the two study groups,
and the test credibility and reliability were confirmed (reliability coefficient was 0.85). The study results
showed the existence of differences with statistical indication (α = 0.05) between the achievement of the
experimental group children and those of the control group. The implications of the results are that the iPad
can benefit children in improving their language skills in a motivating learning environment. The results were
in favor of the experimental group children, which were attributed to iPad teaching method. They showed that
there were no statistically differences attributed to the gender variable or to the interaction between the gender
variable and teaching method variable. The study was concluded by giving some recommendations and
suggestions pertaining to this study.

When well integrated into the classroom – these tools can be
extremely effective learning tools.
Teachers and administrators need to work together to develop
a curriculum, pedagogy and a method for assessment of the
effectiveness of iPads in education. These devices can create
a paradigm shift in education. Children today experience the
world from the point of view that they can take for granted the
use of technology in their every day life. Yet still technology
remains just another class in schools rather than the tool that
it is in every other aspect of their lives. The use of iPads in
education should not be viewed as a burden on teachers but
rather a natural extension of the world today. Not using iPads
in education or lap tops or desk tops in our classes today would
be as anachronistic as using only land lines for phone calls.
It is not the way of the world today – iPads in education is
a minimum standard in my opinion. If not today then in the
immediate future this will more necessary than a text book.
Should your school implement ipads

The iPad in Education“Mindset”
Teachers while in university didn’t have access to iPads in
education. That being the case, their is a natural fear or
intimidation factor when introducing iPads in the classroom.
Teachers need to be helped over this fear factor and
encouraged to make the change. Encourage teachers to
question their background, how things have shifted since they
graduated and allow them to come to their own conclusion
about the necessary shifts in the educational needs of students
today. The teacher will be more effective when embracing the
use of technology once they accept it’s need, not as a be all and
end all, but as a tool which will augment and improve students
educational experience.
iPads in Education – what apps are
best?
Here is a site to reference where many
great apps and the bundling of apps is
discussed. http://blog-next.learnboost.com/?s=ipad+apps
+for+education&lang=en. To teach effectively with the iPad,
teachers and staff have to be well-versed in “bundled apps,”
those that come standard with the iPad, as well as any apps
you’ll be utilizing additionally. Experiment – use the apps
yourself, and with focus groups to test their effectiveness and
how you can effectively teach using these apps.
iPads in education are an
opportunity
The use of iPads in education should be viewed as
an opportunity to revamp our educational system. Take
a brand new look at how kids learn today and what
their challenges are. Successful implementation necessitates
thoughtful reconstruction of curricula as well as an invigorated
mindset. It’s not about finding the app that will be a magic
bullet for student achievement. 1 to 1 iPads in educationis a
process that will reshape education.
