10. Poll Question #2
Do you have an HR 'system of record’ such
as an ATS and/or HRIS?
11. How to Get Integrated
1. Pre-built/standard integrations
2. Built on demand by vendor or third-party
3. DIY with off-the-shelf platform and/or connectors
What is possible and how to get it done will largely be
determined by:
A. What your vendors have already built
and/or
B. What your vendors can support in their platforms
12. Technobabble
How to get data in and out:
– API
• REST
• SOAP
– DB export
How to move data back and forth
– HTTP
– FTP
What format the data is in:
– CSV
– JSON
– XML
This will not
be on the
test!
13. Approaching your Vendors
1. Spend 30 minutes educating
yourself:
– Google “your-vendor-name
integration”
– Look for links with “API”,
“Developer”, and “Marketplace”
2. Contact your Account Managers
on both sides of the integration.
3. Explain your business drivers and
the workflow(s) that you need.
4. Let them know your timeline (be
realistic!)
5. If you are in a buying situation,
make integration a requirement.
15. Costs
• There is usually work to do by both vendors to enable an
integration.
• One or both vendors may charge the customer.
• Often a formal Change Order or SOW is required.
• Typical fees range from $2,500 to $5,000 on each side.
• Let your vendor know if you will have multiple systems to
integrate.
• Integration is not inexpensive but it can provide great ROI.
16. Benefits of Integration
• Direct benefits:
– Time savings
• Fill positions more quickly
• Increase productivity
– Reduces errors
• Indirect benefits:
– Improved candidate experience
• Lowers “drop off”
• Improves Employer Brand
– Better compliance
17. Planning Your Integration
1-4 weeks
• Project initiation and paperwork
• Coordination and project kick-off meeting
1-4 weeks
• ATS vendor queue
1-2 weeks
• HRNX config and test
1-2 weeks
• User acceptance testing
1 week
• Production deployment
5-13
weeks
• Deployed

19. Key Take-aways
1. Most vendors have some ability to integrate with other
systems.
2. How long an integration takes and how much it costs
will vary, typically 1-3 months and $2,000 to $5,000.
3. Before investing too much time seeking an integration,
you need to determine ROI for your situation.
4. Integrations can be technically complex but you can
focus on your workflow requirements and leave the rest
to your vendors.
