How Did Florence Nightingale Contribute To Nursing
Florence Nightingale is often commonly believed by many to be a significant person who not
only improved nursing, but the Army and medical education as well. Born in 1820 to a wealthy
family she was allowed the opportunity to become educated to a higher degree and obtaining
extensive knowledge in statistics and math, which later allowed her to revolutionize nursing, as
well as establish nursing as an actual profession. Hospitals during this time were unclean,
disorderly, and an incredibly infectious environment for patients. Hospitals were not considered
places of healing, but places where people died, and therefore a place many people avoided. It was
for this reason that Florence Nightingales parents advised her not to enter this profession.

All About Fha 203K Loans. The Federal Housing Administration,
All about FHA 203K LOANS
The Federal Housing Administration, otherwise known as the FHA, is a government agency
created to help alleviate the case of homelessness in the country. The agency is under the authority
of the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), set up in 1934 after the Great
Depression. The primary purpose of establishing the FHA is to oversee different insurance
programs for single family mortgages, insuring mortgage loans provided by HUD approved
lending institutions. In order to get FHA loans, buyers are required to have a satisfactory credit
rating and make a down payment.

One to four family homes like townhomes, detached and single family houses are eligible. One to
four condominium units are eligible for interior improvements and repairs only.
An existing home or dwelling or a modular unit on a particular site can be moved to another site. It
is however required that a new foundation is provided and meticulously inspected, in addition to
securing the dwelling properly to the foundation.
Borrower Eligibility for the FHA 203K Loan
The requirements for taking the 203k loan are not any different from other loan programs offered
by the Federal Housing Authority. The requirements are practically the same and all you need is to
meet the standard FHA credit qualifications which include the down payment requirements and
mortgage insurance payment upfront and annual, which depend on the value of the loan. Some of
the standard FHA underwriting guidelines that apply include income, credit scores, employment
verification and debt.
The major difference that can be spotted in the standard FHA underwriting process compared to
the FHA 203K underwriting process is that with the former, there is the usual inspection that
checks livability and an appraisal to assess the market value of the property. With the FHA 203K
underwriting process however, it does not make too much sense to find the fair market value of a
property that needs repairs.
With the 203k loan, there is an

Integument Skin
The skin is part of the integumentary system, and it is the largest organ in the body (Human
Anatomy Book, 119). The integument is made up of two layers: the epidermis and the dermis;
deep to the dermis, however, is the hypodermis. The hypodermis is not part of the integument, but it
is still taken into consideration as the deepest layer of the skin(Human Anatomy Book, 119). The
epidermis, being the most superficial part of the skin, consists of five different layers: stratum
basale, stratum spinosum, stratum granulosum, stratum lucidum (in thick skin only), and stratum
corneum. The stratum basale, however, consists of many cells, one of them being melanocytes
(Human Anatomy Book, 121). These cells are responsible for the production of melanin,... Show

The Origins Of Yoga And The Second School Being Hatha Yoga
In 1893, a man by the name of Vivekananda came to speak at the Parliament of Religions in
Chicago. He captivated his audience with the exotic Indian practice of Yoga. His message
permeated throughout the United States while capturing the minds of brilliant Americans such as
Gertrude Stein. Vivekananda as well as the Doctrine of Yoga
were a sensation, but what has become
of the mystical practice known as yoga. In this paper I will discuss the origins of yoga in the
West, various schools of thought associated with yoga and with a focus on two in particular: the
first being Raja yoga (royal yoga) and the second school being Hatha yoga. Dr. John Renard
illustrates the relation between these to schools concisely and effectively in The Handy... Show

The young monk made a profound impression on the people who attended the speech. His speech
left people spellbound and enchanted. He was able to simplify Vedanta thought in such way that
it was more digestible for westerners and more importantly he conveyed the idea that all souls
were inherently divine. His mantra was relatable to American, work and worship. Vivekananda
became a star overnight. He proceeded to tour the country to further the doctrine of yoga across
the nation. Yet the yoga we see across our country is very different from the yogic tradition
Vivekananda was teaching. In fact Vivekananda had an absolute lack of interest in the physical
aspect of yoga we see today in our society. His goal in America was to help Americans realize
God. He was considered the first missionary from the east to the west and it was his goal to help
Americans rid themselves of this American individualism. He wanted to rise above the western
perception of the east being this exotic and magical place and to deliver truth to people. He felt
very strongly about his proselytization. He was quoted saying, I have a message to the West as
Buddha had a message to the East. That being said Vivekananda was a man of this world. He had
reportedly been seen smoking and eating meat, so this man was far from perfect. Yet nevertheless
this man had quite the following. In fact Leo Tolstoy was very

Raising funds for my fourth exposition proved to be extremely difficult. This is one thing
Leakey Louis Seymour said before he had helped discover that humans came from evolution.
Raising money was tough for him because he had taken three trips before this and he hadn t

In the article It s Not Climate Change It s Everything Change, the author Margaret Atwood,
starts of by talking about three different pictures. The first one being The future without oil, the
second, The future without oil arrives very quickly, and the third, Some countries plan for the
future of diminished oil, some don t have any, or don t need any. The first picture says to
imagine driving around in our in vehicles fueled by hydrogen. Our goods will be coming to us
by solar and sail driven ship, and trains and bicycles will become popular again. People start
eating locally and start growing vegetables in their yards. Water is having to be saved and low
draw lightbulbs are being used because incandescent have been banned. Also the slogan Heat
yourself, not the room is no longer a slogan, it s the way we all live now. The air conditioning
systems no longer exist so during summer, there will not be huge amounts of power being used.
Still imagining, the author discusses what will be wearing and what we will eat. Cotton will be
consider too expensive, so recycled tinfoil and plastic will be used for clothing. The idea of
obesity will no longer be a problem, and diet plans will be mandatory. This picture one is liked by
the author because it s comforting and says it might come true. The second picture the author
discuses is suppose the future without oil arrives very quickly. Very sudden, there would be no
cars, no planes, a few trains, and some bicycles. Water

Women s Equality And The Ethical Theory Of Deontology
Women and men have had certain roles in society that were understood amongst them to be
specified for their particular gender. Males were known to have the leading role as head of the
house hold and the bread winner while the woman s duty was to stay at home and take care of the
house and children. While many people years ago deemed this way of life and practice to be the
right and ethical thing to do, times have changed and so this kind of treatment towards a womans
equalitymust be questioned. Even though times have changed, this mindset of a woman s ability
to be as good as a man has not completely gone away. In today s society a woman contributes to
the economy and her family as equally as that of a man. Therefore, women should share equal rights
and opportunities as their gendercounterparts. Women s equality applies to the ethical theory of
Deontology. Deontology emphasizes on the question of would this act always be the right thing
to do, for everyone, in the same circumstances (Mosser, 2013). It is apparent in today s society
that women s rights and equality are being looked at closer by our governments and political
bodies, but there is not enough being done to make women as equal to men. Women want to be
seen as equals and the golden rule should apply to the equality of women because men would
want the same thing if they were in a woman s position. One of the areas that could use work is
the equality in the labor and workforce. The labor and workforce department

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Tasers
Introduction Law enforcers around the world have tried to find a solution to subdue violent crimes,
without using unnecessary usage of lethal force. Violent crime has been with human existence from
the beginning of human history. According to the Bible, that Christians use, Cain killed Abel,
which is also known to be the first man slaughter in our history. Even after this incident, people in
the globe have faced all sorts of crimes and threats. Until recent history, only way to suppress
violent criminal by policeor any sort of law enforcers were either by hands or by using lethal force.
However, using lethal force, which is mainly firearm, caused many injuries and even death of both

The major pros for taser gun is that, tasers are non lethal weapon that can effectively take down
the suspects without any violent consequences. However, if tasers are the best weapon for the
law enforcers, why every countries around the world isn t are using this effective weapon.
Almost every European nations forbids using tasers in any form. The major issue that taser has
controversies with is that it is using electricity on human body. Although taser is known to be
safe non lethal weapon as the Taser International argues, however there are few death of a person
who was being tazed. Since taser guns are using electricity, when the subjects are suffering from
a heart disease, it might have a negative impacts on the subject, worst case, causing death (Mun
2013). Since police officers do not know whether the suspects of intention has a issue in their
body, such situations like this is hard to be avoided. Other cons of taser is over usage of taser on
the suspects. As we already know, taser is non lethal weapon, and due to this characteristic,
sometimes law enforcers over uses taser. According to this news article, this man in America was
tazed 8 times before getting arrested for being not cooperative to the police (SBS News 2014). If
this suspect was suffering from a heart disease or other illness, getting tazed 8 times can be crucial
to his body condition. Although the situation is threat to the officers, however

Examples Of Romanticism In Forrest Gump
Forrest Gump is a romantic and satirical modern film in which relates to romanticism in many
ways. The Romantic hero is portrayed in the story as Forrest Gump himself, and would be classified
as a perfect figure in Romanticism nowadays. The contemporary film in which promotes many
themes related to romanticism, tells an intriguing story of the unintelligent good hearted Forrest,
which embarks in a journey full of surprises and historical moments with an air of innocence.
Forrest Gumpembodies many romantic themes in its plot, such as the irrationality in human nature,
the aphorism Carpe Diem , and value of innocence. Forrest Gump not only embraces different

Forrest, the main character, is the representative figure of this theme, as he demonstrates that
everything he accomplishes is irrational, without any reason involved in his actions. Forrest, being
the absolute romantic hero in the plot, demonstrates that the human is not essentially reasonable
and rational. By his own irrational acts, Gump is awarded with many values in his life, and
executes many of his actions without any critical thinking involved. A great example of this idea is
shown when Forrest in quietly sitting in his porch and decides to go for a small run. Instead of
going on a little run, Forrest resolves that he will keep running for no reason, and that if he could
run to the end of the town, then he could run to the end of the county, then run to the ocean, then
run across the country. This example demonstrates how Forrest is not the smartest and brightest
person, but he has a different feeling for things. Although not always having a logical reason for his
actions, if he feels that he has to execute something, he must do it as long as he feels that he has to
do it. Forrest actions, in the contrary, instead of putting him in unfortunate situations, it always
rewards him with the best of life. Gump has an intuitive, deep understanding of life, as everything
he is confronted with, he must stop and deeply understand each experience. Human nature is
irrational, and Forrest is the

Tachycardi Exploring Heart Rate
Heart rate, also known as pulse, is the number of times a person s heart beats per minute. A normal
heart rate depends on the individual, age, body size, heart conditions, whether the person is sitting
or moving, medication use and even air temperature. Even emotions can have an impact on heart
rate. For example, getting excited or scared can increase the heartrate. But most importantly, getting
fitter lowers the heart rate, by making heart muscles work more efficiently.
Your pulse is the way doctors check for certain dieases. If you have a high pulse you are in risk of
Tachycardia, which means it is too fast. A heart rate of more than 100 beats per minute (BPM) in
adults is called tachycardia. What s too fast for you may depend on your age

What Are The Struggles Of The Older Generation
Words and stories can connect generations through understanding of the struggles of the opposite
generation, and they can resolve conflicts between people. In Thank You M am by Langston
Hughes, a teenage boy attempts to steal the purse of an elderly woman by the name of Mrs.
Jones. He is unsuccessful, and Mrs. Jones takes the boy home where they have a conversation,
although Mrs. Jones does most of the talking. Eventually, the Mrs. Jones reveals to the boy that
she too once resorted to less than honest measures to get something she wanted, creating a
connection between her and the boy that allowed her to instill in him a sense of honor and
respect, as the text says, The woman did not watch the boy to see if he was going to run now, nor did

Also, those of older generations have lived much longer than younger generations, and have
experienced much more, so they have gathered an ample amount of wisdom and valuable life
lessons they can share with the younger generation. This is evident in Thank You M am when
Mrs. Jones teaches the thief that she once resorted to crime as well, but that there is always a
better option, helping him to turn away from crime to accomplish his goals. It can be hard for
different generations to communicate because of differing perspectives caused by drastically
different cultures and ways of life between generations. For example, my father is very stubborn
and retains many beliefs about how a family should be run based on how he was raised, which
makes it very hard to negotiate and communicate with him about the issues of my generation.
Another example of this is Mr. Brown in Cub Pilot on the Mississippi. He doesn t communicate
very well with those of a different generation, treats them poorly, and hardly listens to them at all, as
evidenced by his treatment of Mr. Twain throughout the

North Eastern region of the United States has been serving as the backbone of US economy in
many respects. Obviously, it is densely populated region of the US due to the presence of

Pleasantville And A Clockwork Orange Essay
Pleasantville and A Clockwork orange are both films that have certain things that are abnormal.
Pertaining to Pleasantville it begins in black and white and end to be in color because of being
exposed of certain things. In a Clockwork Orange that is exposed with violence robbery is highly
unusual because it is not something morally right to do. While analyzing both of these movies
they both have certain distortions that can be covered that make their own individually, out of
ordinary, a tad shocking and unsatisfactory, and more to meet the eye. In Pleasantville, disorder
starts to happen slowly as the movie proceeds. While David and Jennifer fight over the remote,
there seems to be some strange guy at the door. This TV guy suddenly gives them a remote and
they are magically in the world of Pleasantville. Pleasantville is a world that would be described
as happy, and perfect, with perfect parents, school, a perfect town, and also with perfect
children. The symbolism here is that everything is in black and white for a reason. The people
of Pleasantville are very unaware of everything else, all they know is about Pleasantville, there
are no books, and not even sex, and even the main streets have no limits. Even Mary Sue, who is
Jennifer, asked her teacher Miss Peters, What s outside of Pleasantville? (Pleasantville Imbd) and
Miss Peters response was The end of main street is just the beginning again). It seems that
Pleasantville only exists to the people of the town.

Karma In The Ramayana
The Role of Dharma in the Ramayana
Growing up, most of us probably heard the old proverb you reap what you sow. This is the idea
that how one lives their life and what choices they make ultimately have positive or negative
consequences. This is similar to the ancient Indian dharma, the idea of dismissing one s natural
obligations that come from caste, gender, and occupation (Powell 224). By living a law abiding
life and being virtuous, one practiced good dharma and therefore received good karma. On the
other hand, those who lived immoral lives exercised bad dharma and, subsequently, received bad
karma for their wrongdoings. The concept of dharma is a prominent theme in the Ramayana, an
ancient Indian myth starring Rama, the incarnation of Vishnu, and plays a role in many of the
ethical dilemmas that arise in this text. Because of the Ramayana s influence on contemporary
culture, the characters execution of dharma offers insight on how Indians should apply this law
to the different spheres of their own lives. While family dynamics are not always the loveliest
affairs, the relationship between Rama, his father, and his brothers is a remarkably tame one. For
example, when Dasaratha tells Rama he is going to be his successor, he is described as accepting
the proposal with a natural ease (Narayan 35). Rama also responds to his exile with this same
acceptance, telling Kaikeyi, I will carry out his wishes without question. Mother, be assured that I
will not shirk

and take down the protestant Queen Elizabeth I. Queen Elizabeth I, was catholic but then became
protestant. The Church did not like her decision and they wanted her to become catholic again, so
the Pope encouraged King Philip II of Spainif he could try to make England catholic again. King
Philip agreed to do what the Pope had asked of him. For years, Philip was in need of a Queen and
since Elizabeth was not wed, he proposed to Elizabeth over and over again, but Elizabeth
wanted to make all the decisions and Elizabeth did not nor did she ever get married, the main
reason was because she did not want a man to tell her what to do, she did not want to marry
someone who was in need of a Queen, but for someone who truly loves her for her. I do not want a
husband who honours me as a queen, if he does not love me as a woman. So she declined all of
Philip s marriage proposals. Philip s task for the Spanish Armadawas to overthrow protestant
England lead by their protestant Queen, Elizabeth I. Philip s plan for the Spanish Armada was to
swing the fleet by the Netherlands, pick up his army there, and transport them across the English
Channel for a ground invasion.

Fighter Interceptor Wing
Introduction Just shortly, after the end of World War II the United States Air Force realized they
needed a fighter jet to replace the highly popular P 51 Mustang. North American Aviation
Corporation was granted the contract to build these medium range, single seat, high altitude,
multi purpose fighter jet/bombers. There were over 6,000 of the jets produced between the two
facilities in Los Angeles, California and Columbus, Ohio. This plane was the first United States
jet fighter with swept wings, which allowed it to unofficially break the sound barrier on 1
October 1947. Five years later, Jacqueline Cochran became the first woman to break the sound
barrier flying a Canadian variant of the F 86. Not only was the plane more... Show more content on

As the technology advanced in China and North Korea the MiG 15 came in to play and was far
more superior than the piston engine aircraft the United States and UN forces were flying. One
of the most significant things about the MiG 15 is that with its superiority over the P 51
Mustang the United States Air Force had to keep all of the B 29 Superfortress grounded due to
the lack of security. The B 29 Superfortress had been a major game changer in World War II. The
B 29 was designed for the high altitude strategic bomber role. One of the B 29 s final roles
during World War II was carrying out the atomic bomb attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
After the F 86 Sabre was introduced in Korea, they patrolled the area just south of the Yalu, the
so called Mig Alley, in long figure eights, always turning towards the north to keep from being
surprised. The F 86 Sabre s and the MiG s were evenly matched. Both had 6,000 pound thrust jet
engines, and could go supersonic in a dive. The MiG was smaller, and it could climb higher and
faster. The Sabre was faster in level flight and in a dive, had a greater range, and could turn
tighter in a fast dive. The Sabre carried six 50 caliber machine guns, while the MiG relied on a
single 37 mm and two 23 mm cannon. (Sherman, Acepilots, 2011) With the facts that were out
about the MiG 15 the United States Air Force wanted to prove

Altissimo Range Research Paper
The altissimo range is something many saxophonists keep tinkering with even after years of
playing. It s among the biggest frustration points of any new sax player and the reason many feel
like giving up.
But before you pack your saxophone permanently to its box, try the following tips. While
mastering the altissimo range will never be easy, it is possible and you will get there!
Lay a Solid Foundation
Don t venture into the world of the altissimo range before you are able to play the entire range
with proper volume control. You want to play the entire range both very softly and very loud.
Make sure you also include proper ear training to your playing. You need to be able to hear the
different notes and the variations. Listen to sax music regularly to improve your skills.

Start from the easier once such as the low Bb and the middle Bb and move on to middle F, high
Bb, D and F. Keep practicing until you feel comfortable.
You might need to focus on your embouchure while you play, so make sure you try different things
to see what makes it easier to hit the right notes. Altissimo range requires great control of the
embouchure, so pay attention to it.
Experiment with Fingerings
There is no ultimate truth to fingerings for altissimo notes. It is possible to play them with very
different fingerings and you want to try out different options in order to find the one that works the
best.
You can find different fingering charts online. If the first one doesn t feel comfortable, move onto
the next one pick the one that feels the most natural to you.
One Note at a Time
Don t try to master the whole altissimo range at once. It s much easier to take it step by step and
focus on a single note at a time.
Most often the quest start with the high G. But wait? Isn t the F# the first altissimo note? Yes, but
it s not as difficult to get and most modern saxophones have a special F# key already in

Barrel Racing Essay
Barrel racing is a timed event in rodeos where a rider and horse try to complete a clover leaf
pattern in the fastest time. It takes skills from the rider and the horse to make a good run. It
takes good athletic ability from the horse and good horsemanship from the rider to take a horse
safely through the barrels. The judges set up the barrels in a triangle in the center of the arena.
There is normally a flagger in the ring that waves a flag when you start and waves it again when
you cross the finish line. There is a person that starts and stops the timer when that flag is waved.
This event was originally made for women. When barrel racing first started the pattern fluctuated
between a figure eight pattern and the clover leaf that is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fastest time gets a half of a second added onto it to make the 2D division. Then the fastest
1D time gets a whole second added to it to make the 3D division. The 4D division is one and a
half seconds added to the fastest time of the whole event.
There are some rules in barrel racing. Number one is the fastest time wins. The rider and horse aren
t judged on anything but that. If the rider and horse run past a barrel and get out of the pattern,
they get a no time score or they get disqualified. If the racer or her horse knocks a barrel over,
they get a five second penalty which normally gives them a time that is to slow to win or place.
There is a sixty second time limit to complete the course. The barrels have to be fifty five gallons,
they have to be metal, and they have to be at least two colors. Most competitions also require the
rider to wear a long sleeve western shirt that is tucked in, western cut pants or jeans, a western hat,
and western boots. The contestant has to be dressed like this one hour before the event.
There is also special tack that is used for barrel racing. Bits are one thing. There isn t any rule
that says what type of bit you have to use but there are bits that are more common to riders than
others. The type of bit used is determined by the riders based on the horses needs. Bits with longer
shanks cause the horse to stop faster and bits with shorter shanks are used for more lateral work.
Other things are put on the bit like curb

answer: No clue. So how do we discover the answer? The best two methods of study for accurate
and more conclusive results are naturalistic observation and (insert other form of study).
Let s examine Naturalistic observation first. To start, what is naturalistic observation? This term is
defined as the inconspicuous (as much as possible) observation of an individual/group in their
natural (unaltered) environment. The benefit of this (in theory) is that we can view the natural
state and behaviors of a person. The downside is that people always alter their behavior when they
are aware they re being watched. However, being that this question is directed towards children
there is a resource available that may be used for naturalistic observation: Video surveillance. With

they also have to fight back the community s prejudices of their unwanted diseases. Victims of
AIDS have to face the death without anyone standing by such as Jonah after being abandoned,
he just receives an excuse from Mary, Sorry, old friend. (108) Actually, no one can understand
the death in the coldness, loneliness, and shame they are suffering. Because of having a disease
that people fear and see them as stigmas that need to be prevented from their lives, they are
shunned by relatives and all people around them. They feel empty. They are humiliated. There is

Harrington s Article Analysis
In Harrington s article, she mentioned a few key elements in resilience, and stated that having a
vision gives a sense of purpose and direction to one s life (Harrington, 2012, p.2). As I reflect upon
that statement, I thought about my own life. I thought about when I was a little girl, how I just
knew I wanted to be a police officer. As I grew older, I had many obstacles thrown my way and
questioned myself on many occasions if I still wanted to follow my dream or was it just a phase
because I was so fascinated with officers. I have had so many visions and accomplished many of
my goals because I had a purpose in life and I knew where I wanted to go. Once I had my mind set
and focused on many of my visions in life, I felt my purpose in life.

Essay on Wilfred Owen s Dulce Et Decorum Est
Wilfred Owen s Dulce Et Decorum Est
Through poems with blazing guns, spurting blood, and screaming agony, Wilfred Owen justly
deserves the label, applied by critics, of war poet. Some critics, like W.B. Yeats who said, I
consider [Wilfred Owen] unworthy of the poets corner of a country news paper, (362) satisfy
themselves with this label and argue Owen lacked the artistic merit to be given much attention
beyond it. However, many other Owen critics like David Daiches interest themselves in trying to
identify what unique perspectives Owen s poems present and why those perspectives captivate so
many people. Daiches argues that Owen engages so many readers because he penetrates into the
inner reality (363) of the war experience. He ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This was one reason for Roman hostility to them, as barbarians deserved repression. Their rituals
were performed in wooden shrines and in sanctuaries among the forests, with grotesque carved
images of gods. Victims were put to death by several methods. They were stabbed, or shot at with
arrows, or plunged head downwards into tubs full of water, or shut into huge wicker cages in
human shape, which were set alight. (123)
Also on druidic sacrifice, Peter Ellis writes in his book The Druids: On great occasions [. . .] after
plunging a dagger into him [the sacrificial man], they [the Druids] read the future from the manner
of his fall and the twitching of his limbs and the flow of blood (145). With these historical accounts
in hand it becomes possible to understand hidden archaic realities within Owen s text.
While it is understood that the poem recounts the activities of World War I soldiers moving under
orders near the front lines in France, the words used to describe this action evoke an image of a
strange, fearful, eerie, and occult procession moving with an attitude of helplessness akin to the
horrors which necessarily entrap the designated victims of a human sacrifice. These images of
imminent doom start in the first stanza and pervade the remainder of the poem.
Initially the poem demonstrates

Charlie Parker Take 5 Analysis
Introduction
This task requires the close comparison of two jazz pieces of different decades and their defining
styles. The musical styles, instrumentation, compositional techniques, structure, technology and
role of lyrics are key factors in the comparison and will be focused on. The artists lives as well as
the historical and social contexts of those decades will also be analysed because they played key
roles in the composition of the music.
Charlie Parker s 1945 Bebop recording Ko Ko will be compared to Take Five composed by Paul
Desmond and Dave Brubeck.
Context
Ko Ko was composed and recorded in 1945 which marked the end of the Second World War. The
original recorded version featured Parker playing alto saxophone, Miles Davis on trumpet, Curley
Russelland on double bass, Max Roach on drums and Dizzy Gillespie on piano, instead of his main
instrument trumpet. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Parker recorded Ko Ko during his first session and first date as a leader for Savoy Records.
This piece showcased just how challenging this new music was to play. Parker was no longer
confining himself in the traditional jazz musical style but rather creating his own new Jazz
language. Ko Ko was a ferocious salvo fired across swings bow. (Myers n.d.)
Take Five, a West Coast Cool Jazz piece, was composed by Paul Desmond during the Cold War
and performed by The Dave Brubeck Quartet on their 1959 album Time Out . The piece got its
name due to its 5/4 time signature, which is very unusual. This reflects the experimental nature
of West Coast Cool Jazz. I was breaking a whole bunch of rules. (Zollo 1991), but this evidently
worked because it was the first jazz single to ever sell over a million copies globally.

Kiara s Recommendation
I am writing to recommend Kiara Patton to the Assembly Fellowship Program. As a student
assistant for the Office of Legislative Counsel, Kiara exhibited her many personal and professional
strengths, including her strong written communication skills. As a resolution writer, she also
demonstrated her adept research and critical thinking skills, as well as her creativity. For instance,
Kiara skillfully provided consultative services, made recommendations, and advised legislative
staff on how they might resolve issues that would be susceptible to the objection of the Senate or
Assembly Committee on Rules. She also worked closely with legislative staff to ensure the final
draft reflected favorably on the member of the legislature that would be presenting her work.
Kiara s strengths also include her dedication and multitasking skills. I was amazed at the ease with
which she could successfully navigate through a variety of tasks, while juggling her responsibilities
as a college student. Not once did I see her become overwhelmed by a given task or assignment.
Kiara not only effectively prioritized her work to ensure due dates were met, but she worked in

Male-Female Relationships In When Harry Met Sally And When...
After recently meeting, Harry and Sally are stuck together in an eight hour car ride heading to New
York City. Not knowing each other well, they make small talk, getting to know the other person.
The topic of male female relationships comes up in the conversation, and Harry says that men are
only friends with women because they want to sleep with them. This question of Can women and
men be friends without sleeping with each other? is one of main themes films most popular
romantic comedies of all time, When Harry met Sally.
In recent years, one of the most popular sub genre of film, romantic comedies or rom coms for
short, has gotten a bad reputation. Due to many rom coms following the same storyline and
containing typical rom com tropes, many have become bored with the genre, and some detest it
because of its predictable nature. There are some hidden gems within the genre that veer off from
the typical rom com films, like When Harry Met Sally. With a well casted group of characters to a
well written screenplay, When Harry Met Sally goes against many of the stereotypes of a rom com
while dealing with themes that are commonly used in the genre.
The movie begins with recently graduated Sally and Harry headed off to New York City. Just
recently met, Harry and Sally start to learn more about each other while being stuck in a car for
eight hours, but after arriving at the city, they part ways with both assuming that they won t ever
see each other again. Five years pass, and Harry and Sally accidentally bump into each other.
They both speak briefly to each other, but both decide not to keep in touch after the awkward
encounter. Another five years pass and Sally runs into Harry again in a bookstore. Both talk about
their recent heartbreaks and bond over them. The rest of the film follows Harry and Sally
friendship while both are dealing with their recently ended relationships and are trying to find love
in the city.
The screenplay for this film is what makes it original in a genre that is stereotypical. Nora Ephron,
who wrote the film, has written other well known rom com films such as Bewitched and Sleepless
in Seattle. An aspect of this screenplay that makes this film special is the pacing. The balance

The Italian Mafia In The 1920 s
The promise of work and land inspired the immigration of the early 1900 s. The increased
immigration of Europeans greatly shaped the American public. Newcomers settled together,
creating distinct racial neighborhoods across the nation. Many of these culturally defined
neighborhoods can be seen in New York. Millions of Italian immigrants came to America during
this surge of migration, many settling in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, appropriately
known as Little Italy (Bryan Web). The immigrants were not well received. They were viewed
as scum filling the ghettos, affecting the job market, and threatening the American way of life.
Their poor reputations were also fueled by the crime that had traveled with them. Aside from the
rich culture and tradition, that had developed within the streets of Manhattan s Little Italy, the
Italian American Mafia was formed. The Sicilian Mafiosi escaped to the US after being attacked
by the fascist regime, bringing with them mob culture (History Wed). The Italian Mafia is a

Richard Cory Poem Analysis
Ever since the 1600s when William Shakespeare described the whole world as a stage and all the
men and women merely players , the idea of people wearing masks and hiding their true feelings
has been present in literature in one way or another. In the late 1800s, Paul Laurence Dunbar
publishes We wear the mask , a poem that focuses on people hiding their true feelings from others
and everyone can relate. Unlike Dunbar who talks about different kinds of emotional masks people
use, Edwin Arlington Robinsonuses his Richard Cory to draw attention to a mask of money and
success, which makes the average people ( we people ) admire and idealize the successful person
(Richard Cory) only because we do not know and do not even try to see what is hidden behind the
mask. With ABAB rhyme scheme, in just 4 stanzas and 16 lines, Edwin Arlington Robinson tells a
meaningful and timeless story about misfortune of Richard Cory, a person behind the mask of
money and success who seemingly has everything anyone could wish for. Robinson starts the first
stanzawith a description of Richard Cory s appearance and a clear distinction between the two
sides, Richard Cory and we people . The speaker mentions Richard Cory in the first line without
any introduction, which means that everyone should know who Richard Cory was, so the
introduction is not needed. Furthermore, whenever Richard would come to downtown, we
people of the pavement admired him. The people of the pavement or people from the streets of
the downtown, including the speaker, were obviously of a lower socioeconomic class in
comparison to Richard Cory. What is more, the speaker uses we people as he wants to include
the reader as well. In other words, the speaker is confident that a reader would have also admired
Richard Cory if they had seen him. In the next two lines, the speaker uses a metaphor and
implicitly compares Richard to a king: He was a gentleman from sole to crown as well as
imperially slim . Instead of saying a gentleman from the feet to the head, the author uses a phrase
sole to crown to put Richard Cory on a king s pedestal. In addition, Richard is imperially thin,
which is another characteristic of kings. So, was Richard Cory really a king

How Did Florence Nightingale Contribute To Nursing Florence Nightingale is often commonly believed by many to be a significant person who not only improved nursing, but the Army and medical education as well. Born in 1820 to a wealthy family she was allowed the opportunity to become educated to a higher degree and obtaining extensive knowledge in statistics and math, which later allowed her to revolutionize nursing, as well as establish nursing as an actual profession. Hospitals during this time were unclean, disorderly, and an incredibly infectious environment for patients. Hospitals were not considered places of healing, but places where people died, and therefore a place many people avoided. The Federal Housing Administration, All about FHA 203K LOANS The Federal Housing Administration, otherwise known as the FHA, is a government agency created to help alleviate the case of homelessness in the country. The agency is under the authority of the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), set up in 1934 after the Great Depression. The primary purpose of establishing the FHA is to oversee different insurance programs for single family mortgages, insuring mortgage loans provided by HUD approved lending institutions. In order to get FHA loans, buyers are required to have a satisfactory credit rating and make a down payment. What is special about FHA 203K Loans? An existing home or dwelling or a modular unit on a particular site can be moved to another site. It is however required that a new foundation is provided and meticulously inspected, in addition to securing the dwelling properly to the foundation. Borrower Eligibility for the FHA 203K Loan The requirements for taking the 203k loan are not any different from other loan programs offered by the Federal Housing Authority. The requirements are practically the same and all you need is to meet the standard FHA credit qualifications which include the down payment requirements and mortgage insurance payment upfront and annual, which depend on the value of the loan. Some of the standard FHA underwriting guidelines that apply include income, credit scores, employment verification and debt. The major difference that can be spotted in the standard FHA underwriting process compared to the FHA 203K underwriting process is that with the former, there is the usual inspection that checks livability and an appraisal to assess the market value of the property. With the FHA 203K underwriting process however, it does not make too much sense to find the fair market value of a property that needs repairs. With the 203k loan, there is an ... The integument is made up of two layers: the epidermis and the dermis; deep to the dermis, however, is the hypodermis. The hypodermis is not part of the integument, but it is still taken into consideration as the deepest layer of the skin(Human Anatomy Book, 119). The epidermis, being the most superficial part of the skin, consists of five different layers: stratum basale, stratum spinosum, stratum granulosum, stratum lucidum (in thick skin only), and stratum corneum. The stratum basale, however, consists of many cells, one of them being melanocytes (Human Anatomy Book, 121). These cells are responsible for the production of melanin,... His mantra was relatable to American, work and worship. Vivekananda became a star overnight. He proceeded to tour the country to further the doctrine of yoga across the nation. Yet the yoga we see across our country is very different from the yogic tradition Vivekananda was teaching. In fact Vivekananda had an absolute lack of interest in the physical aspect of yoga we see today in our society. His goal in America was to help Americans realize God. He was considered the first missionary from the east to the west and it was his goal to help Americans rid themselves of this American individualism. He wanted to rise above the western perception of the east being this exotic and magical place and to deliver truth to people. He felt very strongly about his proselytization. He was quoted saying, I have a message to the West as Buddha had a message to the East. That being said Vivekananda was a man of this world. He had reportedly been seen smoking and eating meat, so this man was far from perfect. Yet nevertheless this man had quite the following. In fact Leo Tolstoy was very ... • 9. Women s Equality And The Ethical Theory Of Deontology Women and men have had certain roles in society that were understood amongst them to be specified for their particular gender. Males were known to have the leading role as head of the house hold and the bread winner while the woman s duty was to stay at home and take care of the house and children. While many people years ago deemed this way of life and practice to be the right and ethical thing to do, times have changed and so this kind of treatment towards a womans equalitymust be questioned. Even though times have changed, this mindset of a woman s ability to be as good as a man has not completely gone away. In today s society a woman contributes to the economy and her family as equally as that of a man. Therefore, women should share equal rights and opportunities as their gendercounterparts. Women s equality applies to the ethical theory of Deontology. Deontology emphasizes on the question of would this act always be the right thing to do, for everyone, in the same circumstances (Mosser, 2013). It is apparent in today s society that women s rights and equality are being looked at closer by our governments and political bodies, but there is not enough being done to make women as equal to men. Women want to be seen as equals and the golden rule should apply to the equality of women because men would want the same thing if they were in a woman s position. Forrest, the main character, is the representative figure of this theme, as he demonstrates that everything he accomplishes is irrational, without any reason involved in his actions. Forrest, being the absolute romantic hero in the plot, demonstrates that the human is not essentially reasonable and rational. By his own irrational acts, Gump is awarded with many values in his life, and executes many of his actions without any critical thinking involved. A great example of this idea is shown when Forrest in quietly sitting in his porch and decides to go for a small run. Instead of going on a little run, Forrest resolves that he will keep running for no reason, and that if he could run to the end of the town, then he could run to the end of the county, then run to the ocean, then run across the country. This example demonstrates how Forrest is not the smartest and brightest person, but he has a different feeling for things. • 20. Karma In The Ramayana The Role of Dharma in the Ramayana Growing up, most of us probably heard the old proverb you reap what you sow. This is the idea that how one lives their life and what choices they make ultimately have positive or negative consequences. This is similar to the ancient Indian dharma, the idea of dismissing one s natural obligations that come from caste, gender, and occupation (Powell 224). By living a law abiding life and being virtuous, one practiced good dharma and therefore received good karma. On the other hand, those who lived immoral lives exercised bad dharma and, subsequently, received bad karma for their wrongdoings. The concept of dharma is a prominent theme in the Ramayana, an ancient Indian myth starring Rama, the incarnation of Vishnu, and plays a role in many of the ethical dilemmas that arise in this text. Because of the Ramayana s influence on contemporary culture, the characters execution of dharma offers insight on how Indians should apply this law to the different spheres of their own lives. While family dynamics are not always the loveliest affairs, the relationship between Rama, his father, and his brothers is a remarkably tame one. For example, when Dasaratha tells Rama he is going to be his successor, he is described as accepting the proposal with a natural ease (Narayan 35). Queen Elizabeth I, was catholic but then became protestant. The Church did not like her decision and they wanted her to become catholic again, so the Pope encouraged King Philip II of Spainif he could try to make England catholic again. King Philip agreed to do what the Pope had asked of him. For years, Philip was in need of a Queen and since Elizabeth was not wed, he proposed to Elizabeth over and over again, but Elizabeth wanted to make all the decisions and Elizabeth did not nor did she ever get married, the main reason was because she did not want a man to tell her what to do, she did not want to marry someone who was in need of a Queen, but for someone who truly loves her for her. I do not want a husband who honours me as a queen, if he does not love me as a woman. So she declined all of Philip s marriage proposals. If the first one doesn t feel comfortable, move onto the next one pick the one that feels the most natural to you. One Note at a Time Don t try to master the whole altissimo range at once. It s much easier to take it step by step and focus on a single note at a time. Most often the quest start with the high G. But wait? Isn t the F# the first altissimo note? It takes skills from the rider and the horse to make a good run. It takes good athletic ability from the horse and good horsemanship from the rider to take a horse safely through the barrels. The judges set up the barrels in a triangle in the center of the arena. There is normally a flagger in the ring that waves a flag when you start and waves it again when you cross the finish line. There is a person that starts and stops the timer when that flag is waved. This event was originally made for women. The rider and horse aren t judged on anything but that. If the rider and horse run past a barrel and get out of the pattern, they get a no time score or they get disqualified. If the racer or her horse knocks a barrel over, they get a five second penalty which normally gives them a time that is to slow to win or place. There is a sixty second time limit to complete the course. The barrels have to be fifty five gallons, they have to be metal, and they have to be at least two colors. Most competitions also require the rider to wear a long sleeve western shirt that is tucked in, western cut pants or jeans, a western hat, and western boots. The contestant has to be dressed like this one hour before the event. There is also special tack that is used for barrel racing. Bits are one thing. There isn t any rule that says what type of bit you have to use but there are bits that are more common to riders than others. The type of bit used is determined by the riders based on the horses needs. Bits with longer shanks cause the horse to stop faster and bits with shorter shanks are used for more lateral work. The best two methods of study for accurate and more conclusive results are naturalistic observation and (insert other form of study). Let s examine Naturalistic observation first. To start, what is naturalistic observation? This term is defined as the inconspicuous (as much as possible) observation of an individual/group in their natural (unaltered) environment. Essay on Wilfred Owen s Dulce Et Decorum Est Wilfred Owen s Dulce Et Decorum Est Through poems with blazing guns, spurting blood, and screaming agony, Wilfred Owen justly deserves the label, applied by critics, of war poet. Some critics, like W.B. Yeats who said, I consider [Wilfred Owen] unworthy of the poets corner of a country news paper, (362) satisfy themselves with this label and argue Owen lacked the artistic merit to be given much attention beyond it. However, many other Owen critics like David Daiches interest themselves in trying to identify what unique perspectives Owen s poems present and why those perspectives captivate so many people. Daiches argues that Owen engages so many readers because he penetrates into the inner reality (363) of the war experience. He ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This was one reason for Roman hostility to them, as barbarians deserved repression. Their rituals were performed in wooden shrines and in sanctuaries among the forests, with grotesque carved images of gods. Victims were put to death by several methods. They were stabbed, or shot at with arrows, or plunged head downwards into tubs full of water, or shut into huge wicker cages in human shape, which were set alight. (123) Also on druidic sacrifice, Peter Ellis writes in his book The Druids: On great occasions [. . .] after plunging a dagger into him [the sacrificial man], they [the Druids] read the future from the manner of his fall and the twitching of his limbs and the flow of blood (145). With these historical accounts in hand it becomes possible to understand hidden archaic realities within Owen s text. While it is understood that the poem recounts the activities of World War I soldiers moving under orders near the front lines in France, the words used to describe this action evoke an image of a strange, fearful, eerie, and occult procession moving with an attitude of helplessness akin to the horrors which necessarily entrap the designated victims of a human sacrifice. These images of imminent doom start in the first stanza and pervade the remainder of the poem. Initially the poem demonstrates ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This question of Can women and men be friends without sleeping with each other? is one of main themes films most popular romantic comedies of all time, When Harry met Sally. In recent years, one of the most popular sub genre of film, romantic comedies or rom coms for short, has gotten a bad reputation. Due to many rom coms following the same storyline and containing typical rom com tropes, many have become bored with the genre, and some detest it because of its predictable nature. There are some hidden gems within the genre that veer off from the typical rom com films, like When Harry Met Sally. Millions of Italian immigrants came to America during this surge of migration, many settling in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, appropriately known as Little Italy (Bryan Web). The immigrants were not well received. They were viewed as scum filling the ghettos, affecting the job market, and threatening the American way of life. • 43. Richard Cory Poem Analysis Ever since the 1600s when William Shakespeare described the whole world as a stage and all the men and women merely players , the idea of people wearing masks and hiding their true feelings has been present in literature in one way or another. In the late 1800s, Paul Laurence Dunbar publishes We wear the mask , a poem that focuses on people hiding their true feelings from others and everyone can relate. Unlike Dunbar who talks about different kinds of emotional masks people use, Edwin Arlington Robinsonuses his Richard Cory to draw attention to a mask of money and success, which makes the average people ( we people ) admire and idealize the successful person (Richard Cory) only because we do not know and do not even try to see what is hidden behind the mask. With ABAB rhyme scheme, in just 4 stanzas and 16 lines, Edwin Arlington Robinson tells a meaningful and timeless story about misfortune of Richard Cory, a person behind the mask of money and success who seemingly has everything anyone could wish for. Robinson starts the first stanzawith a description of Richard Cory s appearance and a clear distinction between the two sides, Richard Cory and we people . The speaker mentions Richard Cory in the first line without any introduction, which means that everyone should know who Richard Cory was, so the introduction is not needed. Furthermore, whenever Richard would come to downtown, we people of the pavement admired him. The people of the pavement or people from the streets of the downtown, including the speaker, were obviously of a lower socioeconomic class in comparison to Richard Cory. What is more, the speaker uses we people as he wants to include the reader as well. In other words, the speaker is confident that a reader would have also admired Richard Cory if they had seen him. In the next two lines, the speaker uses a metaphor and implicitly compares Richard to a king: He was a gentleman from sole to crown as well as imperially slim . Instead of saying a gentleman from the feet to the head, the author uses a phrase sole to crown to put Richard Cory on a king s pedestal. In addition, Richard is imperially thin, which is another characteristic of kings. So, was Richard Cory really a king ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
