2. The Theory Of Nursing Theory
Roy s Adaptation Model Aisha Noah Chamberlain College of Nursing. NR 501 Theoretical Basis
Adv. Nursing. Introduction Nursing theory is a belief, policy, procedure proposed or followed as
the basis of the action. It is used as the basis to organize framework of concepts and purposes
designed to guide the practice of nursing. Nursing theory started in the 1800 when emphasis was on
nursing education. Most of the nursing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nursing theories have also made their influence on patient care and outcome. The theory I have
chosen to treat in this paper is Roy s adaptation Model. The Roy s model is about adaptation. It has
four key concepts, the person, health, environment and nursing. The Roy s adaptation model states
a person is a bio psych social being in constant interaction with a changing environment. The
adaptation has two subsystems. First the cognator subsystem which is a major coping process
involving four cognitive emotive channels: perceptual and information processing, learning,
judgment, and emotion. And secondly the regulator subsystem which is a basic type of adaptive
process that responds automatically through neural, chemical, and endocrine coping channels.
ANALYSIS OF NURSING THEORY Nursing theories have been a major contributor to nursing
education, it has helped create a focus. Nursing theories have also helped healthcare professional,
managers and patients make unique contributions to health care. According to Im, E. Chang, S.J.
(2012) Believing that the trends of focusing on specifics in theoretical works, close linkage to
research, and integration to practice are positive in the sense that the close linkage to research could
provide solid grounds for theoretical development in nursing and that the specifics could facilitate

3. The Rana Plaza Building Collapse
The collapsing of the Rana Plaza building in the Dhaka suburb of Savar, is a tragic incident that
occurred on April 24, 2013 (Prashad 2013). The Rana Plaza building was the establishment that
had workers who were the commodity of the production of garments that are sold to the Western
market. A couple days post collapse, it was reported that the death toll was well into the triple
digits. This paper will draw on the details of pre and post Rana Plaza s collapsing while
connecting it to Marx and Engels ideologies in response to the four questions and/or issues. Marx s
dialectical method and thinking can be used to tackle the issue about the structural propensity of
capitalismto be global because he rejects the either or dichotomy.... Show more content on

The biological analogy raised by the instructor can be used to interpret the aforementioned in the
simplest manner by visualizing a caterpillar evolving into a butterfly. Nonetheless, this is a
naturally occurring process and is the same way Marx wants the people to interpret the constant
social change that is the structural propensity of capitalism to be global. That being said, Marx
again is a dialectical thinker so believing only in constant change alone is one sided in his
perspective. Another quote raised by the instructor is the unity of opposites. Essentially, this quote
ties in with the dialectical method and suggests that although social change is inevitable in the
eyes of Marx, it is at the same time not the only thing happening. Rather, Marx is hinting that there
is an underlying theme that constantly remains the same. Simply put, this is the conflict between
the capitalist and the worker, leading to the next issue to be covered in this paper. Going back to
the collapsing of the Rana Plaza, Prashad reveals that there appears to be a trend of factory
buildings collapsing in the twenty first century, specifically poorly built shelters for a production
process geared toward long working days, third rate machines, and workers

4. Comparison Of The Great Gatsby And Moulin Rouge
Similarly to The Great Gatsby , Luhrmann s Moulin Rouge takes on the same effect of displaying
anachronism by working with Monsted to create a soundtrack with a modern twist. However, the
soundtrack of Moulin Rouge has a much different timbre as it s a jukebox musical and the songs
itself are used in replacement of dialogue at various points of the film. With the vocals of the lead
characters of the film, played by Ewan McGregor, Nicole Kidmanand more, this film also recreates
different original singles with different genres, timbre and tempos to make the songs relate more
to the literal environment of the film and the audience at the time it was released. One important
example would be Kidman s rendition of Marilyn Monroe s classic song, Diamonds Are a Girl s
Best Friend . The significant aspect of Kidman s take on this song was that her character, Satine,
performed it by recreating the original into a medley with Madonna s mimicry performance of
this song, Material Girl . Satine begins her introducing performance, with her sultry and
provocative vocals in a accapella version of Monroe s first few lines of the song giving a more
raw and less theatrical take on the song. Satine s whole performance in general, is much less
theatrical than it s origin as it neglects the classic and smooth orchestral version, for a more jazzy
and burlesque vibe that perfectly corresponds to her seductive performance. Which is then
followed by a series of improvisations such as

Therefore, it s important to properly manage brands to maximize their value or brand equity to the

Branding in the classic sense is all about creating unique identities and positions for products and
services, hence distinguishing the offerings from competitors (Keller amp; Lehmann, 2003). By
carrying out the above marketing actions Intel would have anticipated to create an image in the
mind sets of their target audience that is vivid and different from their competitors, reliable, a
knowhow of the components that go into the computer, pioneers in that field of business, great hold
on the market share or leaders in the microprocessor industry, a reputed company picture, and
introduction of a new slogan helped to achieve the renewed success. These marketing strategies
were implemented to gain consumer loyalty, to create a brand personality, identity, awareness and
brand equity.

The United States employs a worldwide taxation system accompanied by a complex system of
foreign tax credits. So What the U.S Tax? The United States taxes the worldwide income of its
citizens (both resident and non resident). Accordingly, there is a system of foreign tax credits a
partial credit system that aims to avoid double taxation (Desai, 2005). How the U.S Tax? The
FTC system in the US allocates some expenses, such as interest payments and R D expenses,
based on measures of worldwide activity. Other parts of the tax code apply ratios depending on
the circumstances, such as the allocations for export income 863(b) of the U.S Tax Code. When
to Tax? Active income of incorporated affiliates overseas is taxed only when dividends are
remitted. Active income excludes Subpart F income. And where the U.S. tax? For the most part,
the U.S. permits worldwide averaging. Companies are required to segregate income into basket
and perform tax credit calculations on each of the baskets. The U.S. system creates two classes of
firms: excess credit firms who foreign tax rate exceeds the U.S. statutory rate, and deficit credit

The topic of diversity is an ever growing discussion to encourage inclusion of different people,
cultures, and backgrounds into the global marketplace. In my issue paper, I will explore the idea
of diversity, its benefits, and how it can be included within key sectors of the business world.
Diversity is an important factor to the business place that allows employees and customers to
interact with companies that value their background as an essential part of their business plan
company culture. There are a myriad of benefits that diversity brings can bring to a company but
most of my readings reflected on three main ideas of driving innovation, bettering recruitment, and
capturing the global market. Diversity of race, gender, and social view can increase innovation
and creativity. How does diversity do this? When different people are brought together to complete
a task or solve a problem, they are bringing different information, perspective, and opinions. The
need for diversity of expertise is obvious: the building of a new rocket ship requires the expertise of
designers, engineers, and quality control experts. But informational diversity brings unique
dimensions and experiences to thinking through a task. Oftentimes being with those that are similar
to us can lead us to think that we hold the same details and information or share the same
perspective, which hinders creativity and innovation. Being in diverse groups can lead us to asking

Baseball was, is and always will be to me the best game in the world (Ruth, n.d). While many
people agree with Babe Ruth on that opinion, softball is also quickly becoming an American
favorite. Not only has softball been added to the Olympic games, but college softball has also
become popular. According to Anderson and Lopez (2017), Women s College World Series

differences between softball and baseball include rule changes, equipment size, and field size.
The Rules
While the most basic rules are the same in both softball and baseball, there are still a few
differences in how the two games are played. In softball, there are only seven innings, while in
baseball there is typically nine innings. However, in both sports, the games can be extended in
case of a tie, where extra innings will be played until one team scores more runs than the other
team. Another difference in gameplay between softball and baseball is stealing bases. Although
both games allow stealing, in softball the base runner must stay on the base until the pitched ball
crosses home plate, while in baseball, the base runner can lead off the base and can be thrown out
at any time. The most significant difference between softball and baseball though is that in ... Show

are advised to discover how the family members feel toward the problem in this situation. A way

CHAPTER 1
Introduction
Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is emerging as a major challenge for the global health care
systems with increasing life expectancy and rising rates of obesity, diabetes and hypertension
(1). Not surprisingly, the incidence rates of End stage Kidney Disease (ESKD) have been rising
world wide with rates ranging from 12 to 455 per million population (pmp) (1). ESKD affects 107
individuals per million population in the United Kingdom (2). Although the incidence rates have
been stable from 2006 2010, it has risen from 95pmp in 2001 (2). Prior to the 1960 s when dialysis
was available, ESKD was universally fatal. Since the advent of dialysis, ESKD was no longer a
terminal condition. With evolving technologies and modifications of the techniques, dialysis
developed into a long term treatment for ESKD. However, survival, morbidity, and quality of life
remain poor, while cost stays high.
Despite only relatively small proportion of patients with CKD progressing to ESKD, the high costs
of dialysis and transplantation makes 0.1 0.2% of the population consume 1 2% of health resources
in the developed world (3). This puts huge strains on global health systems.

successful senate reform but acknowledges the obstacles. Docherty does a very good job at
accessing the problem of the senate, accessing the problem of previous reforms, and suggesting a
plausible type of reform for the senate. This provides the reader with the knowledge of why the
Canadian senate is a failing institution but also the possible solutions of how the senate can be
reformed in order to maximize its democratic potential. Although, Docherty fails to provide an
exact reform that needs to be taken, he just draws upon other failures and hypothesis that this may
be the right solution for reform. Rand Dyck s chapter 11 fills in the missing gap of reform that

the Board shall coordinate with the senior liaison officers of the Attorney General, the Secretaries
of Energy, Commerce, Transportation, the Treasury, and Health and Human Services, and the
Director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Additionally, the Board shall work in
coordination with the Critical Infrastructure Assurance Office and the national Institute of
Infrastructure Assurance Office and the national Institute of Standards and Technology of the
Department of Commerce, the National Infrastructure Protection Center, and the National

by information security infrastructure. This author finds it compelling that departments and
agencies specifically related to homeland security and protection such as the FBI, CIA, and
Department of Homeland Security. In fact, throughout the Executive Order the Department of
Justice is mentioned in incident coordination and crisis response and law enforcement coordination;
however, the Secret Service is specifically mentioned. It appears there is a large emphasis on
coordination between executive agencies. However, the Board s Coordination committee includes

22. The Stigma Of Mental Institutions
Introduction: Main stream media has contributed to the stigma of mental institutions of being a
place where violent criminals are housed and treated to horrified surgical experiments by mad
scientists. Unfortunately, the stigmas associated are both true and false. Hollywood s
representation of the mentally ill are perpetrators of crimes that are unexplainable. Some may be
suffering from schizophrenia, multiple personality disorder, PTSD, psychotic killers that follow the
path of a mentor. The list unfortunately goes on. These individuals are usually placed in a mental
asylum that houses thousands of mentally unstable patients that under go various treatments such
as shock treatment or lobotomies. Many forget that Hollywood s goal is to entertain people, not
teach them (Uwujaren). What is portrayed isn t the entirety of the truth, and many fail to
understand that. Due to the increasing concern of ignorant populations deeply in betted with a
cultural fear, the protests to close down these mental institutions were hard to miss. Many had
subjected to disagree with the many methods of treatment or lack of treatment there of.
Deinstitutionalizing of mental institutes had begun in 1955. In a report by John Wiley Sons,
approximately 763,391 severely mentally ill people (over three quarters of a million) are living in
the community today who would have been hospitalized 40 years ago. (New York: John Wiley

In the poem Charge of the Light Brigade Alfred Lord Tennyson tells the story of a light brigade
consisting of 600 soldiers charging on horseback into the valley of death during the Battle of
Balaclava during the Crimean War in 1953 56 where they fought against Russian and Cossack
forces. The poem tells of the journey that soldiers take through battle. Tennyson uses repetition,
personification, and diction to make this poem flow.
Throughout the poem the reader will notice that Tennyson uses repetition. At the end of the first
three paragraphs Tennyson writes Rode the six hundred. (Lines 8, 17, 26). The writer is saying that

Brigade! Charge for the guns! he said (Line 5 6). As the poems goes on it says Was there a man

means to say that the soldiers realized that as they were charging forward their commander had
made a mistake. Then they rode back, but not/ Not the six hundred. (Lines 37 38) After they
broke through enemy lines the soldiers began to withdraw but they had suffered many casualties

24. How Did Charles Darwin Contribute To Science
It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one most
responsive to change, this was said by Charles Darwin, a naturalist who developed the theory of
evolution to explain biological change. Almost all things are somehow affected or reshaped
entirely by scientific advances. Science plays a huge role in everyone and every things life. There
are many scientist who have discovered, helped advance, or even invented incredible things. And in
the top 100 influential scientist sits Charles Darwin. Just like any other scientist, his studies open
doors to many more. His research and visions of common ancestry revolutionized studies in
comparative anatomy, embryology, and taxonomy, and has brought together the basic rule of all
biology. But Darwin s innovative idea of the process of evolutionwas received cautiously and
remains in the minds of many scientist today. His idea made a huge leap, but there was a missing
puzzle piece that was found by scientist Gregor Mendel who figured out that heredity depends on
genes. So without Darwin s grand theory many discoveries enabled by the application of
evolutionary tools would have not been made. Darwin s ideas have been enhanced and modified as
new knowledge and technologies have become... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though this branch took awhile to fully developed most of it was based off of Darwinian
concepts. Another side of philosophy of biology deals with the role of laws. In physical sciences
laws are the bases of theories like the law of motion lead to the theory of gravity. But in
evolutionary biology theories are widely based on concepts like female choice, dominance and
succession, and selection. Over the past century a pronounced change in the methodology in
biology took place. Darwin did not directly cause this change but he did strengthened by his
developments in evolutionary biology (Mayr).

Things To Look Into When Considering A Driveway Expansion When your teens start to drive
and get their own cars, you may experience a shortage of parking spaces, especially when you
have guests over. The solution could be to expand your current driveway or add a circular drive
to provide more parking and make it easier to maneuver cars. Here are a few things to consider
about installing a driveway expansion. Check Local Codes There may be codes that regulate the
placement of your new driveway, especially if you install a circular dive. Even if city codes don t
come into play, there may be HOA rules or deed restrictions that affect your driveway. For

This could affect the appearance of your property in a negative way. Even if your driveway is
still fairly new, it will be faded somewhat due to UV exposure and the difference will be
noticeable when it is against new asphalt. There are some options to consider. You could have a
new layer of asphalt put on over your old driveway to make the color uniform throughout or you
would have your driveway sealed. You can t seal a new driveway when it is applied since it
needs to cure. When it s ready, you could have a sealcoat applied over your entire driveway that
makes the color uniform. However, you ll need to go for a period of several weeks or months
with the color difference while you wait. When you re considering a driveway expansion, talk to
a paving contractor about these and any other concerns you have. The contractor will offer
advice for the best placement of the expansion taking drainage, tree roots, and city codes into
account. Even a small expansion of just a few feet has to be installed just like a regular driveway
with a compacted base or it could cause your current driveway to deteriorate faster. It may seem
like a complicated process for the simple act of making your driveway wider, but it is worth it to

individual roles I can see that this member may be the complainer of the group. She did not have
any power in the group, and I was about to find out she did not conform to the groups expected
behavior.
At this point in the meeting two different group members read the teaching and then Mary, the
leader asked if anyone would like to share an experience. Mary looked at the group complainer and
said please confine your sharing to the disease of compulsive overeating, rather than the events of
the day or week. If anyone is having difficulties please speak to your sponsor or other members
after the meeting. How a member shares is one norm for this group, sharing is timed and sharing
needs to reflect hope or how the member used the program to overcome a difficulty. In an effort
to create an atmosphere of sharing there is absolutely no feedback, cross talk or advice given
during share time; this group norm is called a conscious. Mary, the leader stated the chair for

periods of time. She hated the fact that she could not control the men around her.
Even in work Dinesen had struggles. She initially intended to start a dairy farm, but her husband
planned to plant coffee. She was extremely upset that he would go behind her back, especially
when it involved her money. However, she went along with the idea. Her husband did not stay

She was left with nothing. She had to sell her house, land, and possessions to have money to go

Last, but not least was the death of Dennis. Karen had been searching all her life for her one true

The United States government is a democracy, a system of elected policymakers and an organized
government so that policy is created in favor to the people s wants and needs. Many like to
categorize this system of government off of its characteristics and patterns. Three theories have
been grouped into the three contemporary theories of democracy, where the United Statesfits into
each in a different way. Pluralism reflects the use of groups advocating for a single cause, while
Hyperpluralism is Pluralism that did not go correctly because groups are so strong that the
government weakened itself. In addition to pluralism and hyperpluralism, the Elite and Class
Theory introduces the idea that a government has an elite, wealthy ruler who runs the classes
below it. These three contemporary theories of democracy are all applicable to the United States
government, but pluralism is the most prominent out of these three theories because the United
States is based off of political and advocate groups that press for changes in policies with a
balance that prevents the scales from tipping onto the hyperpluralist side. The first of the three
theories of democracy is pluralism, also referred to as the Pluralist Theory. This emphasizes that
politics is a race between many groups who desire to have their policy enforced by the government.

The movie Before Night Falls directed by Julian Schnabel offers viewers a glimpse of how the

all of the awful experiences that he had to deal with as a homosexual. Eventually he was arrested

The harassment towards homosexuals in Cuba was apparent throughout the film Before Night

the first example of harassment towards homosexuals as he was furious when the teacher expressed

poetry as not being masculine. Eventually, Arenas grew up and discovered his sexuality.

3. TV is a World of Good and Bad
Even though both criminals and cops can both commit justifiable violence television is still a simple
medium. TV presents good guys and bad guys. On average, there are 15 minutes of commercials
for every one hour of TV programming, so producers only have a short amount of time in which to
establish plot, story, characters and resolution. Good characters and bad characters must be quickly
and simply established.
Deeper, more realistic, more ambiguous characterizations make it hard for viewers to know who
to root for. It also requires more screen time that takes away from on screen action, states the
Center for Media Literacy. As a result, TV and film criminals are reduced to caricatures. They are
l00% bad. No one could care about them. They have no families. Many of them don t even have
full names, only nick names. They deserve no sympathy and they get what they deserve.
The bad guys, whether they are cops or robbers, have to be 100% bad to justify the violence
against them. Television violence is the struggle of good versus evil. It s OK to shoot the bad guy
after all, he s the bad guy.

yourselves from this untoward generation (Acts2:40, New King James Version). Therefore, the

Thesis Statement
The aspect of computer database security is aggravating with the increase in intense influence of
technology in our routine lives. The paper aims to present some key security threats and the
effective solutions in order to counter such threats that are largely adopted by the companies in
today s world.
Various Types of Attacks on the Computer Network System
After the violation of several layers of protection, it has been observed that the attacker or hacker
may want to perform the below listed attacks.
Direct Attacks
This type of attack specifically means that the targeted data or sensitive information is attacked
directly. Due to this, it has been observed that these targeted attacks are considered to be extremely
obvious and they are successful only in the condition if the database is not protected by any sort of
protection mechanism (Ahmad, et al, 2011). In case there is any protection system installed at the
gateway, this type of attack is failed and the attacker proceeds to the next.
Indirect Attacks
In this type of attack, the attack is not aimed directly at the data or information, which is targeted.
Rather, in an indirect attack, information about the target and from the target is achieved through
various intermediate objects. Here, attackers usually use combination of keys as well as queries.
Some of them are even used for the purpose of misdirecting and cheating the secure mechanism of
database security (Ambler, 2012). These are

42. Major Career Milestones
The bible suggests that the sins of the father can haunt multiple generations of a family before
finally being resolved. But this was written long ago, when people generally did not live very
long and did not have the incredible resources modern peoples can access in terms of knowledge,
material resources and medical care.
Today, many of us are able to live down any childhood baggage we started out with and
eventually create the life of our dreams. For some people, age 50 is about when all the work of
their early adult life seems to pay off, giving them much more of the life they desire rather than the
one their parents wanted for them.

For men, this can mean changing the diapers of the grandkids even though they never changed the
diapers of their own children. It can mean slowing down and making time for family now that major
career milestones have been ticked off.
For women, it can be an excellent time to go back to school, start a business or otherwise launch
a serious career knowing they can give more of a commitment to work than they could when the
children were little. It can be a time when they feel more comfortable investing in themselves in
some way, having filled some internal quota for caring for others. They can feel psychological freer
to live a more empowered life and can feel less pressure to people please.
Those who stop to assess the journey they have already taken and make some plans for the years
ahead are more likely to get the most out of this important milestone. Counting what we have
already done can be freeing and empowering. Planning what comes next can help make the years
ahead an adventure to embrace.
For modern people, age 50 can be an important milestone. Those who take the time to look back on
their lives and to also make plans for the years ahead are generally more satisfied with this
milestone and the opportunities it

43. Babysitting Benefits
If I was in the daughter s position, I would settle to for what I would be paid elsewhere. It is a
first come first serve basis. In lecture, it was explained that people face trade offs, meaning that
one has to give up something in order to get something (Larcher, 2017). So what are people are
doing when requesting a babysitter is, if they request a babysitter they have to give up something,
which is money. Nothing is actually free according to lecture, so something has to been given for
someone to receive a babysitter even if it means them giving up their money or me giving up my
personal time that I could have spent on something else (Larcher, 2017). This is tied into with the
concept of opportunity cost. According to the textbook, the definition... Show more content on

In the case of the babysitting service, for me the opportunity cost of me choosing my parents
even though I do not have another babysitting job is giving up possible free time I could have to
practice my instruments, do homework, or do anything else I have planned for that day. So,
babysitting for zero dollars would be free for them, but it would still cost me. On another note,
choosing whether to babysit for my parents or someone else, depends not only first come first
serve but it also depends on price. According to lecture, price determines who gets what (Larcher,
2017). So, if I use first come first serve like I usually do, I would have to consider price. For
example, if someone comes to me and asks me to babysit for about fifteen dollars an hour, I will
not accept fifteen dollars an hour if my parents come to me with the same price. I will not really
have much to gain if I go with my parent s offer. So, they would have to give me a reason to
choose them by raising the price. I do not think it would make sense to switch something for the
same thing, and it would also waste my time because I would have to cancel on the other party
even though I agreed to babysit for them. The only reason why I would consider settling for less is
if it came at some convenience to
