in the south of the U.S in the 1930 s during the time of the great depression when racism was at it
s highest. To kill a mockingbird is a story of destroyed innocence where the mockingbird is used
to represent the idea of innocence. Harper Lee portrays the theme that it s a sin to kill a mockingbird
through Tom Robinson, Arthur Radley and Jeremy Atticus loss of innocence because they are
symbolic mockingbirds. Firstly, Tom Robinson is a mockingbird because he is an innocent man
convicted of raping a white woman due to the colour of his skin which in turn leads to the loss
of his innocence. Atticus was able to make a good defense for Tom by stating the fact that the
right side of Mayella s face had suffered severe damage meaning that a person who was left
handed most likely attacked her. He goes on to prove that Bob Ewell is left handed while Tom s

Battleship Potemkin was a 1920 s Russian Propaganda film that was used to inspire change, and
an uprising against the Tsarist government. During that time period in Russia there was an
Revolution for change and to the eventual rise of the Soviet Union. During this time they were
several different propaganda movies that some what inspired the Russian nation. Battleship
Potemkin was one of those and it was one of the more famous ones. After watching this film
myself I will break down the films propaganda ways. Near the beginning of the movie it showed
how sailors daily lives were like under the Tsarist control. For the sailors, life on Battleship
Potemkin was very hard. They had the ship captians treating the crew badly and hitting one
sailor. Then it showed the sailor break down and cry as the others watched feeling bad for him.
At the same time a sailor named Vakulinchuk talked of uprising and going arms. That all the
sailors should have honor and repsect, as the other sailors watched they smiled and nodded their

the ancestors of our families to be taken by surprise of the many actions we took. Many different
tribes had established long lasting communities in the 18th century. Such as the Chinook, Salish
and Nez Perce etc. The land was spread throughout the cascades through the Rocky Mountains.
Years of torment and battle began from the Spanish and British explorers looking for the land.

Puget Sound, claiming British sovereignty over the entire region. But he was not the only captain

There is however some things that out of courtesy and respect most countries try to adhere to within
reason. The principle of Comity states that a nation will defer and give effect to the laws and
judicial decrees of another nation as long as those laws and decrees are consistent with the law and

uninformed. There will be several articles discussed in this paper. All of the articles mentioned
here with deal with such mental illness stigmas, such as stigmas that affect the current generation,
how the mentally ill are discriminated against in everyday life, and how one s culture affects how
he or she views mental illnesses. Discussed here will also be said article s findings, such as the

The purpose of this article, and experiment, was to find a correlation between strong views on
mental illness, and culture. The survey was conducted from the year 2002, until the year 2003. This
first article had two experiments conducted, the first experiment was a pre determined telephone
vignette survey, and the other was a recruitment of university students. The telephone survey s
participants consisted of 589 European Americans, and 56 Chinese Americans, all who were under
the age of 18 (Yang 2013).
The first experiment was developed to simply observe and collect a generalized and agreed upon
stigma on mental illness. Each participant was telephoned, and was presented with two examples of
people with mental illnesses: a person that had schizophrenia, and a person that had depression.
Because the participants of this experiment all belonged to either the Chinese American, or
European American culture, each participant was given the option to have the information
presented to them in either English, or Chinese, in order to assure the highest possible degree of
understanding. Each survey took roughly 20 25 minutes, each (Yang 2013). The measures of this
first experiment were two vignettes.
