How To Write A Critical Lens Essay
Crafting an essay on the intricacies of "How To Write A Critical Lens Essay" is akin to
navigating through a labyrinth of literary analysis and structured argumentation. It demands a
profound understanding of both the chosen literary works and the critical lens through which
they are to be examined.
Firstly, one must grapple with selecting appropriate quotations from literature that not only
encapsulate the essence of the chosen theme but also offer sufficient depth for analysis. This
necessitates a keen eye for textual evidence and an understanding of the broader context in
which the works were written.
Moreover, the process of constructing a coherent argument within the confines of a critical lens
requires meticulous planning and organization. Each paragraph must contribute to the
overarching thesis, seamlessly weaving together analysis and interpretation while adhering to the
constraints imposed by the chosen theoretical framework.
Additionally, writing a critical lens essay demands a nuanced understanding of literary theory
and its application to specific texts. This involves delving into the complexities of various critical
perspectives, such as feminism, Marxism, or psychoanalysis, and evaluating how they illuminate
the chosen works.
Furthermore, mastering the art of synthesis is paramount in a critical lens essay. It entails
synthesizing disparate ideas and textual evidence to construct a cohesive and compelling
argument that transcends mere summary or paraphrase.
In essence, crafting a proficient critical lens essay requires a blend of literary acumen, critical
thinking skills, and meticulous attention to detail. It is a formidable task that demands dedication,
patience, and a willingness to engage deeply with both the text and the theoretical framework
under scrutiny.

Rhetorical Analysis Of The Mystery Essay
Watchmen Rhetorical Analysis With the admission of confidence and guilt from
Veidt, to the explosion of psychic energy that destroys New York, the last two pages
of chapter eleven of Watchmen are filled with moving lines , moments in a work that
are filled with meaning and emotion. In these two pages, the mystery that has fueled
the plot of the graphic novel reaches an epic climax in which the themes and ideas
within the work are simultaneously revealed and questioned. With deliberate
structure, powerful imagery, and self reference, Alan Moore literally and figuratively
destroys motifs that he had built throughout the work to challenge the morality
represented by Veidt and force the reader to question how right or wrong it is.
Firstly, the structure of these pages reveals much toward the emotional impact.
Usually cut into 3x3 frames with dialogue, these pages break the conventions that
had been built through eleven issues. The first page is filled with three page length
rows, only one of which contains text. In the text, Ozymandias delivers a crippling
line which emphasizes the pointlessness and helplessness of heroes that have been
built up throughout the comic to be fighters and winners. The second row is the look
of shock, with a gigantic doomsday clockin the background, imagery that has been
used to the point of motif, once again emphasizing the inevitability of doom. Finally,
the last row is that of innocent bystanders of the city of New York, characters in

Biomechanics In Baseball
Some players are blessed with good genetics. Some of the best pitchers are tall and
have long strides that assist them in the throwing off the mound. They are usually
blessed with the ability to throw hard which gives them increased velocity and force.
They must learn good technique to perform at a high level.
Biomechanics are essential in executing quality pitches in baseball. These are the
wind up, stride, cocking phase, acceleration, arm deceleration, and follow through.
The wind up focuses on leg raise and posture while storing energy for lateral
motion. The stride involves the preparation of the shoulders and elbows for the
cocking motion while stepping forward to plant the foot. The cocking phase
involves external rotation of the throwing shoulder as the plant foot prepares for
the body s momentum going forward. The acceleration is a combination of the
body s truck and shoulder rotation going forward while the elbow, forearm and
wrist increase velocity and angle. Lots of force is placed on the throwing arm. Arm
deceleration involves the release of the ball and the relaxing of the muscles. Finally,
the follow through is the body s natural movement from the energy applied to move
forward and a leg kick is used to keep the body stable. ... Show more content on

A pitcher needs to execute proper pitching technique to get the best result out of his
pitches. He must be able to throw the baseball fast enough to avoid the batter from
hitting the ball. Holding the baseball differently in your hand and the angle of the
arm when releasing the baseball will cause it to move instead of going in a straight
line. The release point of the baseball accompanied with velocity and movement will
help a pitcher locate the pitch in and around home plate. The entire body is moving
forward when the arm is going forward to help generate and transfer energy from the

The Importance Of Inventory Management Systems Of
Asda Essay
To critically evaluate the importance of inventory management systems of Asda, UK
Abstract
The topic has been chosen for research is to critically evaluate the inventory
management systems of retail industry in UK. This industry is continuously growing
up with pleasure of customers even the fluctuation in customer choices. Moreover,
this sector has been hugely impacted from 2008 to 2010 by the economic crisis,
when customer did not have enough money to spend. As a result some retail
businesses have incurred a loss and shut down their operation. Though some of the
retailer took the challenge and continued their business to see the future success. But
inaccuracy of stock count leads to poor availability in store level stock. Moreover
employees inadequate level of skills and improper management clue to poor control
of inventory management. As a result decrease the customer satisfactions therefore
fall in revenues and ultimately collapse in profitability level. (Lussier, 2012)
In addition increases the costs due to out of date and damage lots of inventory, which
are also leading to high shrinkage level for the retailer. It is possible to overcome
these barriers and enhance the company s reputation, increase customer satisfactions
including high level of profitability by practising good inventory management system
in place (Warren, Reeve, Duchac, 2013).

Inventory management plays a significant role in the retail industry for succession the
Grammatical Analysis To Chisholm
Lexical and grammatical analysis Avoidance of agency or attribution of agency to
collectivities and not individuals, is a characteristic feature of Chisholm s speech.
She tends to use generalized and impersonal constructions. For instance, in the
opening phrases of the address, she puts forth the following example: [...] when a
young woman graduates from college and starts looking for a job, she is likely to
have a frustrating and demeaning experience ahead of her. If she walks into an
office for an interview, the first question she will be asked is, Do you type? The
underlying assumption of this fragment is that all women are generally thought to be

Men and women need these things equally. That one sex needs protection more than
the other is a male supremacist myth as ridiculous and unworthy of respect as the
white supremacist myths that society is trying to cure itself of at this time. Again,
women s social standing is compared to the situation of ethnic minorities, as the male
supremacist myth is likened to the white supremacist
External Conflict In Lord Of The Flies
Bedtimes and rules are something many children despise when they are growing
up. They want to grow up and break away from their parents. The boys from Lord
of the Flies are experiencing what it is like to be on their own when they crash
landed on an island with no adults. Boys ranging from ages five to twelve are
stranded on an island together and have to learn to adapt to their new environment to
survive. This creates many problems among the older boys who want to hold power.
William Golding conveys that deprivation from civilization can cause people to
completely changetheir morals and sense of right from wrong in his novel Lord of the
Flies through the use of external conflictwhich is the boys struggle with power and
being stranded on the island, savage characterization, and symbolism such as the
Lord of the Flies and Jacks spear.
The theme of Lord of the Flies is implied through external conflict. The external
conflict in the book expresses the theme by causing disagreements between the
boys on what is important to survive on the island. The external conflict is that the
boys are stuck on the island and two of the boys, Jack and Ralph, are fighting for
power. Jack is a choir boy with a cocky personality, which is causing many conflicts
and Ralph has a strong and appealing appearance and personality. Jack thinks
hunting is the most important thing on the island right now, and Ralph thinks
shelter and a signal fire is more important. Ralph is currently chief right now and
has more power causing Jack to fight with him to gain power. Ralph and Jack are
bickering on the importance of the signal fire and Ralph states I was talking about
smoke! Don t you want to be rescued? All you can talk about is pig, pig, pig!
(Golding 54). This quote is an example of the differences between Ralph and Jack.
Ralph has more logic about what is important to get rescued instead of Jack because
Jack only cares about killing a pig before even thinking about getting rescued which
he says in the novel that he would like to kill a pig before being rescued.
Another example of how the theme is shown throughout the novel is through savage
characterization. Savage characterization conveys the theme by showing the reader

The Roman Republic
Some policies and institutions of the Roman Republic were useful to help them
succeed in conquering first Italy and then the Mediterranean world. Before of the
institution of the republic, the romans were a monarchy since their beginning and
they were basically a pastoral people. Rome suffer several changes and improvements
under the control of the Etruscan kings. The Etruscan were civilization settled north
of Rome in Etruria, and they once had control over almost all the Italic peninsula. The
Etruscans influences in Rome were profound, they transformed Rome from a pastoral
community to a city (91). The Etruscan built the street and roads that help the
development of temples, markets, shops, streets, and houses. They basically brought
urbanization to Rome. It is fairly to say that the Rome republic was a fusion between
the elements of the Etruscan civilization and the Rome elements. The combination of
the different political institutions and policies made the Romans succeed in their
conquest territories. The policies that the romans implemented in the republic years
played a crucial role in the conquest of the Latium and the Italic peninsula. The
various policies that the romans established to govern Italy is called the Roman
confederation. One important policy was that Romans made felt the conquered
people that they helped to succeed Rome. Some conquered people, especially the
Latins, were allowed full roman citizenship; others received citizenship without the

Essay about Analysis of Glory
Analysis of Glory
Glory is a movie about the fifty fourth Massachusetts regiment in the civil war. This
was the first all black regiment the Union ever allowed to fight. Throughout the
movie one quote kept proving itself true, We went down standing up. The members
of the fifty fourth proved that they wanted to go down standing up just by joining the
army. However there were many situations that proved this further, as the film
continued. During the regiment s training period a message arrived at the camp.
This message was a warning that all blacks found by confederates would be put to
death, as well as their commanding officers. As a result of this warning Colonel Shaw
was accepting any soldier s resignations on the ... Show more content on

The regiment would be vastly outnumbered in such a battle. Despite the unfortunate
odds, the soldiers seemed honored to be the first into the fort. Death was extremely
probable for these soldiers, but they wanted to be remembered as brave men that
went down standing up. These men willingly walked into almost certain death.
This proves how strongly they believed in their cause. One of the main characters
was Colonel Shaw. In the beginning of the film, Shaw played dead to escape
death. In this part of the movie he was a coward. During the course of the movie
Shaw grew a great deal. In the end he seemed to realize he was an equal with his
men. Colonel Shaw was killed and buried with his men, which seemed to be a
symbol of equality. The Union soldiers were not the only ones to demonstrate a
willingness to take a stand, the Southerners also demonstrated a great willingness to
go down fighting. The Confederates had beliefs that were opposing to that of the
north, but the beliefs were just as strong. The South was taking quite a chance by
fighting the civil war, given the fact that they had far less men than the North. The
mere fact that the Southerners were willing to die for what they honestly believed
were their rights, proves that they wanted to go down standing up. What the blacks
did was a bit more remarkable than what the Southerners did, though. The people of
the Union may not have respected the Southerners, but they were at least
Legalizing Gay Marriages
Marriage is a way that many people express their love to each other, showing how
strong a commitment one can have towards another person. In recent years, the
idea of what constitutes a married couple has changed. Traditionally, a man and a
woman get married and live happily ever after. Over time, we have seen men and
women of different colors and get married, as well as people of the same gender.
Marriagehas changed and has become such a huge topic of conversation and debate.
Homosexual marriages have now become legal in all the U.S. I do not support gay
marriages because homosexual couples should not have the right to get married,
homosexual couples should not adopt without being judged, and also should not have
the same financial benefits... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Whenever a gay couple adopts a child, the couple should think about the child s
stability. Adopting a child while being homosexual can have many effects on the
child and how the child view things. A child that grows up in a gay house hold may
grow up and think that it is okay to date someone of the same gender. Homosexual
couples cannot produce children, so therefore they must adopt if they want
children. A homosexual couple who adopts children does not take the children in
consideration. In the article, In the Best Interests of the (Silenced) Child, the
author says, to include children s voices would be to acknowledge children s
agency and individuality and in doing so would undermine the figure of the
passive, innocent and powerless child which sustains the best interests rhetoric.
The author is basically saying that a child that is for adoption does not have a
voice and no one takes in consideration of the child s feelings. A gay couple that
adopts does this for their satisfaction instead of the child. Many heterosexual couples
would argue that a child needs a male figure in their life as well as a female
Kidney Stone Research Paper
I have chosen the topic about kidney stone because my favorite comic book series
featured it as a character. Kidney stones, also known as, Nephrolithiasis or Renal
Calculi, are crystalized lumps formed by insoluble calcium compounds (Kidney
Stones). Normally, the two kidneys in the human body are in charge of filtering blood
to produce urine. The urine travel down to the ureters, then into the urinary bladder,
and finally excreted through the urethra (Baxter, 2016a). When there is not enough
water to dilute the waste products, they stay in the kidneyand increase the risk of
stone formation. As waste stayed in the kidney, it start to build up and form into a
kidney stone. Depending on the size of the kidney stone, some may slide down the
urinary tract without causing any discomfort. However, because of the small
diameter of the ureters, large usually get stuck and block the flow of urine (Baxter,
2016c).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the size of the stone are less than five millimeters in diameter, it should pass
through the urinary tract without the need of surgery or medicine. However, if the
diameter of the stone are bigger than ten millimeters, then it must be removed by
surgery or lithotripsy (Baxter, 2016b). In order to determine what kind of kidney
stones have formed, a 24 hour urine sample, blood screen, calcium loading tests,
and stone analysis has to be performed (Baxter, 2016b). Men between the ages of
twenty to thirty are most likely to be diagnosed with kidney stones (Kidney Stones).
Approximately 70% of men and 10% of women are diagnosed with kidney stones by
the age of seventy
5 Drivers Of Sports Research Paper
There are five drivers in the sports world that are keys to understanding which way
sports are moving. The first driver talks about how there s a blurry line between
work and leisure in sports (Gunston, 2004). There is a blurry line because some
sports to some people could be leisurely to them while others it may seem too much
like a job, this is changing the sports we play and the types of people that play each
sport. The second driver explains how consumers wantinstant entertainment when
they are watching sports, which will put tons of pressure on people with sports
related jobs and even the sports industry as a whole. Majority of people that watch
sports want what they are watching to be as interesting as it can be, I d personally
agree because I d say everyone likes seeing an entertaining and electrifying game
rather than something boring that s going to lose your interest. The third driver
speaks about how the media and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I believe this is very similar to sports today. Star sports athletes are the idols for
kids all across the world, if they want to be or not. Sports stars get watched very
closely meaning that any mess up could potentially ruin them as an idol. I feel like
DeMarcus Cousins explains this without words. Boogie is debatable the best center
in the NBA, granted he has what some would call a bad attitude. He has kids looking
up to him wanting to be the same player he is, then he will let his emotions get to him
and do something that many people frown upon. Machosport is the future of sports in
my opinion. Technosport is when winning matters more than everything, even ethics
(Gunston, 2004). To some athletes winning is everything even if you have to cheat to
win. Ethically this is not where sports need to go. We don t need big businesses
running everyone in that association as pawns. I wouldn t enjoy sports if this is what
it came
Wonder Woman Analysis
Since their inception, comics have been a way to raise public awareness and
introduce readers to current events plaguing the nation, and to represent the struggle
of minorities. Often, the characters addressing such issues are superheroes who are
both inspirations in their successes and relatable in their struggles. As the first
recognized female superhero, Wonder Womanfaces and overcomes challenges as she
opens a door for women into the world of comics. William Marston s goal for
Wonder Woman was to create an independent heroine with feminist undertones who
could succeed on the same level as the popular male heroes of the time. He wanted to
set up a standard among children and young people of strong, free, courageous
womanhood; and to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Wonder Woman was a feminine character with all the strength of Superman plus
all the allure of a good and beautiful woman, perfect for the face of the fight for
women s rights and recognition (187). The strong female superhero became the
face of Ms. Magazine, a women s rights publication, with the iconic cover staring
the character and proclaiming Wonder Woman for President, (centerfold, last
page). She also appears in an underground comic book titled It Ain t Me Babe that
was published in July 1970 by the Women s Liberation Basement Press in Berkeley,
California, alongside other popular female comic characters who rebel against their
reliance on men: Veronica ditches Archie for Betty, Petunia Pig tells Porky to fix his
own dinner, and Supergirl tells Superman to get lost (centerfold, It Ain t Me Babe ).
Wonder Woman s participation in this feminist rebelling reinforced her role as an
icon in the feminist movement. The character has internal references that allude to
feminist ideas directly and are integral in her representing the movement. The way
she is powerless when bound in chains by a man symbolizes feminist propaganda
and protests involving chains restricting women and women breaking free of their
bindings. On page 85 of The Secret History of Wonder Woman, the image of Lou

Day On The Hill
My experience from the day on the hill was a complete opposite of what I thought
it would be. When I first started this program, I wasn t interested in policy. I
thought this class was going to be extremely boring. After we started looking for
our bills, my mind was blown of how important those bills were. Some of the bills
affected me directly on a professional and a personal level. The billwe choose for our

I am an immigrant myself and I would have never known about the bill if I didn t

much of an impact they made.

Those details keep the reader in the game, so to speak. Another one of the author s
man ideas is using the leaders in separate points of view. In every chapter there was
a different leader and his point of view. This showed how everyone felt about each
battle or occurrence. The author did not attempt to sway the reader to one army or
the other. He let the reader choose whose side he or she was on. Michael Shaara does
not ever describe army or the other as the bad guys or the good guys. The strategies
and tactics used during this war were described in detail. The more important thing
described, however, is not the actual strategy, but who made these strategies and what
the other leaders thought of them. When General Lee decided to attack the enemy
head on instead of going around them, not everyone agreed with the plan. Longstreet,
for one, thought that they should have gone around the enemy and hit them from the
back. These conflicts were great to see because it showed that everything was not
going in perfect unison. It showed that these strategies we not always etched in stone.
These plans had the potential to be changed many times. No successful strategy has
gone uncontested and unchanged. All of the things that were said and done in the
book are all at least somewhat true. Although, many of the
Margaret Sanger s Stand Up For Birth Control Rights
Imagine being a married woman in your 30 s during the beginning of the twentieth
century. You are worn out from giving birth multiple times and you are desperate to
know of a way to prevent yourself from having more children. This was the exact
case for millions of women in the twentieth century. Women had no rights as a
person, nor did they have any rights to their own bodies. In this era, the topics of
sexuality, sex or birth controlwere all taboo subject matters and never discussed
between married or un married couples. It wasn t until the year of 1912 that a
woman by the name of Margaret Sangerstarted her crusade to promote the right for
women to use contraceptives to prevent unwanted pregnancies. In this essay, I will
discuss what inspired Margaret Sanger to stand up for birth control rights. I will
also explore the trials and legal issues that Sanger came up against. Lastly, I will
talk about the victory and the difference Sanger made for women in the twentieth
century. Margaret Louise Higgins (Sanger was her married name) was born in the
year of 1879 in Corning, New York. She was sixth of eleven children and was born
into an Irish American family. Margaret knew at a very young age that she wanted
to make a difference to empower women and to leave her mark on the world.
Margaret was first inspired to go into the nursing field after witnessing her own
mother die at the young age of forty from tuberculosis (TB). Margaret s mother
endured eighteen pregnancies but, she

The father of Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) is Albert Ellis. Born in
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1913, New York became Dr. Ellis home since his
family move there when he was four years old. Ellis struggled with health
problems and physical ailments from childhood until his death in 2007. As a child,
Ellis survived on his own as his parents were absent. His father was a traveling
business person and his mother was emotionally absent (Albert Ellis Institute,
2012). The foundation of REBT developed when a youthful Ellis utilized a
philosophy of viewing life to deal with his physical and family issues (Corey, 2013).

In the 1950s, Ellis grew dissatisfied with the effect of analytic forms of therapy
since he discovered that his clients progressed as well when saw them bi weekly,

family or sex problems. Furthermore, Ellis discovered his clients seemed to
progress more rapidly than when he used passive psychoanalytic procedures. By
1955, Ellis had abandoned psychoanalysis entirely with his clients. Moreover, Ellis
concentrated on altering client s behavior by challenging them with their irrational
beliefs and influencing them to apply rational ones. This new method was more
suited to Ellis personality since he could be more himself (Corey, 2013). Ellis
believed rational emotive suited his own personality processes. In 1957, Ellis
published his first book, How to Live with a Neurotic, based on Rational Emotive
Behavior Therapy. Subsequently, Ellis organized the Institute for Rational Living.
At this institute, he held workshops to teach his principles to other therapists. After
the success of his first book, Ellis published 54 books and more than 600 articles
on Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), sex and marriage (Albert Ellis
Institute, 2012). Ellis stated the genesis of REBT theory back to ancient Greece.
REBT theory is one type of cognitive behavior therapy. According to Ellis, REBT
theory is the oldest and most prominent among all cognitive behavior
Stereotypes In Films
In today s films, perceptions of women haven t changed much. Nancy Signorielli
has a case study that looked at popular films today and how young girls are
portrayed in them. Signorieilli coded the top 25 films for girls 12 17 in 1995 to
look for traits that the characters were portraying and the situations they were in. She
found from her study that girls in these films were 20 30% more likely to be talking
about romance, doing genderstereotyped chores, dating, talking about friends and
clothes, on the phone, grooming, talking about the opposite sex, in class, shopping
and working out. The men in these movies are 25% more likely to be working. In
addition to looking at what these characters are doing, they also looked at the type of
behavior they exhibit during the films. From the study they found that girls were 10
20% more likely to be honest, crying or whining, flirting, compromising, follow
intuition, and be seductive as Signorielli found in her research. From this they found
that the men were more intelligent, more threatening and intimidating, more
hardworking, more risk taking, and use physical force more. From this study it can
be seen that these negative perceptions of women are still similar to the period of...

China Lodging Industry Essay
CHAPTER 2: ANALYZING THE INDUSTRY
Industry Background
As mentioned earlier in Chapter 1, China Lodging Group is a multi brand hotel
group which as per now manages seven hotels with each having a specific target of
customers. These Hotels are Hi Inn, Han Ting Hotel, Elan Hotel, Star way Hotel, JI
Hotel, Manxin Hotel, and Joya Hotel. Its mission statement is to create great brands
of hotels that guests love. The group predicts to be owning over a quarter of the
hotel market share in the next five years to come. The two major objectives that the
company has set for the next five years to ensure that they attain their goal is to build
one large five star hotel in the heart of China Capital s serene outskirts and to ensure
that they hire enough ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The majority of the five star hotels are controlled by foreign hotel management
group while the one, two, three, and four star hotels are mostly controlled
domestically without any strong chain brand. By August 2017, the profit of five
star hotels stands at 64.83 billion yuan, four star hotels at 2.09 billion yuan, three
star hotels at 6.13 billion yuan, two star hotels at 0.54 billion yuan, and one star
hotels are at 0.11 billion yuan. This shows that the majority of the profit share is
earned by five star hotels. Besides the starred hotel, there are 95000 individual
hotels in China market, which occupies 27% of the market share; and economy
hotel for around 7000, occupies 1.9% of the market share; social inn, hostel for
about 234,000, which occupies 67% of the market share. In China, the main body
market is filled with non brand individual hotels, social inn, and hostels, but their
competitive power and profitability indexes are relatively weak. Economy hotels, on
the other hand, in terms of economic perspective, are lying in the ascendant mode
with lots of domestic brands appearing having strong competitive power and
profitability indexes. The above graph shows the competitive market between China
Lodging Group (HTHT) versus Hotels and Motels market which includes lodging
industry at large. From the analysis of the data above, the current situation in China
lodging industry is still dominated by five star hotels.

Cluny Abbey Research Paper
Cluny Abbey
The Cluny Abbey is a former Benedictine monastery located in France. The abbey is
dedicated to St. Peter. The abbey was built in the Romanesque style with three
churches built from the 4th century to the 12th century. The basilica was one of the
largest until St. Peter s Basilica was constructed in Rome.
The History of the Cluny Abbey
Cluny Abbey was founded in 910 by the Duke of Aquitaine, William I. The first
Abbot of the monastery was a man named Berno, who subjected himself only to Pope
Sergius III. The abbey was prided on its stricter adherence to rules and is noted as
one of the leaders of western monasticism. William I stipulated that this monastery be
free from any type of authority save for the Pope himself, and even ... Show more

This is significant because most patrons would retain some type of proprietary
interest or use their patronage to instill their family as abbots. While this was a
common practice, William I chose to free the monastery of any type of entanglements.
In the 11th century the Benedictine Order established itself providing stability for
society. During the French Revolution in 1790, the abbey was seized and most of it
destroyed. Today only one of the original eight towers are left.
The Influence of the Cluny Abbey
The Cluny is home to an impressive biblical library and is regarded as one of the
most important libraries in Europe. The library has survived many disputes, including
the sacking by the Huguenots, and the destruction brought on by the French
Revolution. The Cluny was surrounded by a thriving community and the Cluny was
independent of expectation and could hire any monk they chose.
One of the biggest influences of the Cluny Abbey is the number of Cluny monks that
were chosen by their peers to become the next Pope. Their names were:

Mohamad Sidani showed us the practical side of what we learnt in the course
regarding decision making. For example, while studying, we learn the concepts in
a general manner. However, the challenge is in applying them to each
circumstance we face. As he explained, the process of taking a decision follows the
same concept we have learnt, however; not word by word. It is more spontaneous
and to him it s very important to take his time, when possible, to study the different
alternatives and their possible outcomes. In addition, he weighs the possible benefits
against the risk of each option. After making up his mind, he keeps the decision to
himself and makes sure it s the best solution before announcing and implementing it.
He admits that intuition is one of the factors he bases his decisions on and sum up to

Nut Research Paper
Nut is yet another ancient Egyptian goddess. Nut is the goddess of the sky, which
includes the copious amount of stars that dot it, and bovines. In addition, Nut is
characterized as a female who dons a fashionable water pot on her head, which is
widely used as the symbol for her. Her husband is Geb, the respectable, powerful, and
influential earth god, and her offspring include Osiris, the god of the dead, Isis, the
goddess of magic and health, Seth, the god of chaos, destruction, and desolation, and
Nephthys, the goddess of the night time and lamentation, or sorrow. In some versions
of Nuts life story, she also gives birth to Horus, the god of war and kingship. Nut is

Another depiction of Nut was a woman arched on her toes and fingertips over our
planet. Her body would then portray as a star filled sky. The goddess fingers and
toes were presumed to reach the four cardinal points of north, south, east, and west.
Also, it was said that when the sun would set at dusk, it would be consumed by Nut
and travel through her stomach throughout the night, then be re birthed when dawn
occurs. This fact is the same for the moon. Nut s appearance and affiliation with the
sky helped everyday Egyptians give reason to where the sun and moon would go
and what were happening to them as they were absent. This answered a large
question in Egyptian society. Also, Nut s existence would assist the Egyptian people
from being consumed by the nothingness that it chaos. Another famous and well
known story about Nut and her family is the Myth of Ra and Nut. During the reign
of Ra, he feared that someone would take his throne by force. When the sun god
learned that Nut could bear children, he was exceedingly enraged. Ra stated, Nut

Having the states pressured into raising the legal limit from 18 to 21, all states
increased the MLDA (minimum legal drinking age) and all still abide to drinking
minimum with little exceptions on alcohol such as the drinking with parents, in
certain places, and/or for specific events or holidays. Having the decreased
percentage of funding so high would make some citizens think that regardless of
what the states actually wanted a 10% decrease would make a to big of an impact
on funding the state needed. Looking at statistics from the ICAP organization,
Aside from a few other countries with it being illegal, the USA shares the highest
drinking age requirement across the world with some, but few other countries
except for India having a range of age from 18 25 depending on the state within
that country. This puts the US tied in second for the highest MLDA across the
globe and forces the citizens to wonder why we are so high compared to other
finically alike countries. The US having a high MLDA poses many different cons to
the protection of our youth. The youth is currently set to the age below 18, where
any person in the country is not considered an adult until then. After this point of
years on our world one can be charged as: an adult, sign contracts, legally work, vote,
Notes On Social Pressure And Cognition

Activity 1: Social Pressure and Cognition One of the paramount issues that have
been discussed in class is the capacity for individual differences in regards to how
people process information and generalize that information to make decisions.
However, there are also some commonalities among people, although those
commonalities may exist in varying degrees of acuity. While I know that everyone
is susceptible to social pressures, I also find that I am less susceptible to them than
some of my peers. When I was growing up, my parents never solved problems for
me; rather, they gave me the tools necessary to solve problems by myself and make

When I was twelve, I donned my Obama gear and canvassed with my parents,
going door to door discussing policy with voters as my parents watched from the
sidewalk. When I was older, I protested at the state capital to impeach Scott Walker,
even leading the chants with my younger brother. In school, I founded and ran a bi
partisan political discussion forum. In my small agricultural town, I was the
epitome of politically active, and I really did think I was politically informed.
However, once I got to college, I realized that that was not necessarily the case.
Suddenly I was surrounded by people who had dedicated their lives to thinking deep
thoughts about politics. Fairly quickly, my political ideologies changed, moving
further left. While I had always been far left of center, before college I did not
understand the intricacies that have since shaped my political views.
I remember the specific quarter when I started to really understand the implications
of capitalism and neoliberalism and how they have systematically oppressed so
many people. I called my mom sobbing; I could not understand how people could
do such terrible things in the name of democracy, how a president I had tirelessly
campaigned for had deported more people than any other president in American
history. I was distraught over the way that so many people, people who I respected
greatly, could so easily call themselves progressive while simultaneously supporting
institutions whose main goals

Abraham Lincoln And The Gettysburg Address
Abraham Lincoln a great influence not only to this country, but also to other
political leaders. He showed a great example how just a few words can change
much about the U.S and how the people of the U.S lives. He had many successes in
his presidential years as well as the wars he lead. One of his great successes is the
emancipation proclamation, this document effected how the people of the U.S
treated African Americans as well as give them right to land and vote. He also wrote
and delivered the Gettysburg Address, this speech gave people much to think about.
The Gettysburg Address also put many ideas that many cannot imagine ito
perspective.
The Gettysburg Address was written by the 16th president it is a speech written for
the public, the speech explains how all men should be equal and how those who
serve our country should not be held as slaves. Abraham Lincoln, the writer of the
Gettysburg Address, grew up in Kentucky where there was no education or any
schools. According to Brian Burns, Abraham was self taught until mother died and
his step mom made him go to school (Brian Burns). During this time there weren t
well established school systems they would teach when they could. Abraham was
fascinated with reading and writing by the age of 21 Abraham knew how to read,
write, arithmetic and cipher to the rule of three which was more than any teacher
knew. He then became the captain of the Black Hawk War, and when he returned he
went to law school to be able to become a
Analysis Of The StreetAndAngela s Ashes
Imagine: A young boy scavenges for food to provide for his impoverished family
which was composed of his ill mother and starving siblings or a homeless, single
mom desperatley seeking for shelter. These synopses from Angela s Ashes by Frank
McCourt and The Street by Ann Petry share a common theme: perseverance through
hardships. In Angela s Ashes, a memoir by Frank McCourt, he stells about the
harships he endured through his childhood, such as, struggling to assist his family in
the midst of poverty by stealing food to provide for them. Futhermore, in The Street,
a novel by Ann Petry, tells the story of young Lutie Johnson, a homeless single mom
who is seeking shelter for herself and her children. In these two excerpts, the authors
use the characters, settings, and events to develop the theme, which I ve identified as
perseverance through hardships. In McCourt s memoir, Angela s Ashes , he uses the
characters, settings, and events to develop the theme. In the quote, We don t laugh
long, there is no more breadand we re hungry, the four of us (McCourt 1). In this
quote, it is explaining how McCourt and his siblings constantly struggle with
hunger due to poverty. This quote assists in developing the theme by adding in the
starvation of the McCourt family which intensifies the theme of perseverance
through hardhips. An example of events developing the theme is exemplified
through the quote, I can t shove all that under my jersey. Oh, God. Should I take
the whole box? The people passing by pay me no attention. I might as well take the
whole box. My mother would say you might as well be hung for a sheep as a lamb. I
life the box and try to look like a messenger boy making a delivery and no one says
a word (McCourt 2). This quote tells the reader the lengths McCourt was willing to
go to in order to provide for his family. This develops the theme by showing how
McCourt perservered through difficult times in his childhood. You can look in
people s windows and see how cozy it is in their kitchens with fires glowing or ranges
black and hot everything bright in the electric light cups and saucers on the tables
with plates of sliced bread pounds of butter jars of jam smells of fried eggs and

Hiv Testing in Newborns Essay
This paper presents an ethical analysis of the mandatory newborn HIV testing law
enacted in New York State. The law was passed as an effort to decrease maternal
transmission of HIV, by treating infants born to HIV positive mothers immediately
after birth with AZT. Newborn testing was promoted by the legislative and medical
community following the overwhelmingly positive response from HIV infected
pregnant women who were given AZT in the ACTG 076 clinical trials. Pregnant
mothers who were given AZT had a markedly lower transmission rate than mothers
who had not received it. This paper examines this newborn testing policy from a
Utilitarian perspective to ascertain if the goals of the policy are feasible. The
potential advantages, as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The increased awareness of successful treatment modalities for potentially
seropositive infants heightened the push for legislation mandating HIV testing of
newborns (Garrett, 1995) (Nicholson, 2002). Blinded studies, although useful for
tracking the number of seropositive infants in the state, deprived HIV positive
mothers and their at risk infants of any opportunity for follow up care or
interventions (Berger, Rosner, and Farnsworth 1996). The results of the anonymous
newborn screenings, coupled with the promising treatment research from ACTG 076,
was the impetus for the State of New York to enact policy mandating the testing of all
newborns for the human deficiency virus (Cameron, 2002).
Agents Affected by Mandatory HIV Testing
Every mother who delivers a baby in the state of New York is affected by this policy.
Because every infant is tested at birth, every mother will be aware of her own HIV
status by default, even if she had refused testing during her pregnancy. Critics of the
policy cite these losses of autonomy and privacy as the most serious drawbacks of
the new law

but at the last second the claw came down (controlled by the Aliens), and were
picked them up and brought to safety. Finally, Woody returned and brought the gift
of, being a hero to his friends, and the gift of remembering his past mistakes. The
hero s journey in Toy Story 3 was expressed through the toy cowboy: Woody.
Throughout his journey, he learned to be courageous and to be determined. As he
was being taught through the journey and by the mentor he was learning how to
become a hero. Without this key journey, the story of the movie would not be the
same. Instead, the path of the story could have been accepting your mistakes
because of the mistake of going to daycare. But from the journey, he learned a
different lesson and is now a hero for helping his friends get out of the daycare.
Throughout the film, the Telephone (mentor) guided Woody to the path of success, to
complete his goal and help his friends. And without a mentor, hero s cannot carry out
their functions. Telephone, the mentor in Toy Story 3, propelled Woody
Ice Hockey Is The Highest Level For Men s Hockey
Ice hockey is a contact team sport played on ice, usually in a rink, in which two
teams of skaters use their sticks to shoot a vulcanized rubber puck into their
opponent s net to score points. Ice hockey teams usually consist of four lines of
three forwards, three pairs of defencemen, and two goaltenders. Normally, each
team has five players who skate up and down the ice trying to take the puck and
score a goal against the opposing team. Teams normally have a goaltender as their
sixth on ice player, whose job is to prevent the puck from entering the goal.

The contemporary sport of ice hockey was developed in Canada, most notably in
Winsor, where the first hockey game was played on March 3, 1875. Some
characteristics of that game, such as the length of the ice rink and the use of a
puck, have been retained to this day. Amateur ice hockey leagues began in the
1880s, and professional ice hockey originated around 1900. The Stanley Cup,
emblematic of ice hockey club supremacy, was first awarded in 1893 to recognize
the Canadian amateur champion and later became the championship trophy of the
NHL. In the early 1900s, the Canadian rules were adopted by the Ligue
Internationale de Hockey sur Glace, the precursor of the IIHF and the sport was
played for the first time in the Olympics in the Olympic Games of 1920.
In international competitions, the national teams of six countries (The Big Six )

only six medals were not awarded to one of those countries. In the annual Ice

General Instrumentation Of A Power Plant
General Instrumentation in a Power Plant
In a Thermal Power Plant, Chemical Energy of fuel is converted to Electrical Energy.
Actually this energy conversion takes place in different stages.
Firstly, in Boiler, the chemical energy in fuel is converted into heat energy. During
process of combustion the carbon, sulphur etc available in the fuel reacts with air
and liberates heat and flue gases. This heat is absorbed by the water walls of the
furnace and steam is generated.
Secondly, in Turbine this heat energy, in the form of heat energy is converted into
mechanical energy.
And Finally, in Generators, which is coupled with the turbine, the mechanical energy
is converted into electrical energy.
Therefore, a Thermal Power Plant can be regarded as a process industry. Now, for
successful completion of the process, a good number of process parameters need
continuous monitoring which needs instrumentation.
Just like other process plant, the instrumentation system of a thermal power plant has
two parts:
Measurement: It deals with measurement of different parameters of the process by
deploying different sensor which is mainly known as primary instrument and
operating personnel by displaying it on indicator or recording it on recorder or
storing it in Data Acquisition System(DAS) or in some cases, by generating
audiovisual alarm signal protective signal. Indicator, Recorder DAS are mainly
known as secondary instrument.
Control: It takes care for automatic/manual control of
Setting up a Company by Shares
The setting up of a company by shares Joint stock company
A joint stock company is a company whose stock is owned jointly by a large
number of shareholders who are unacquainted with each other. A joint stock
company is a form of partnership where each member is financially responsible for
the acts of the company. Each shareholder owns a part of the company in proportion
to his ownership of the company s shares. This allows the unequal ownership of a
business where some shareholders own a larger proportion of the company than
others.
The setting up of a Joint Stock Company involves some requirements. There is a
minimum number of two shareholders, there has to be a Supervisory Board formed
of at least three censors , at least one must be a certified accountant , appointed for a
period of three years. Also, if there is more than one director a Board of Directors
must be constituted.
The shareholders holders of the Romanian joint stock company can be either natural
or legal persons. The minimum number of shareholders is two. For the Joint Stock
Company the minimum share capital cannot be below 90,000 RON the equivalent
of at least 25,000 Euro and is divided into shares having a minimum value of 0.1
RON. The amount of the minimum share capital may be modified by the
Government so as to represent the equivalent of 25,000 Euro.
The founders must subscribe to the entire social capital of the company and must
pay at least 30% of its value, the rest of to 70% having to be paid

stress comes from school, money, environment, work or all of them, everyone
walks the same path of stress sometimes without even realizing it. Although many
people perceive stress in a negative way, there s some surprising benefits of stress
that we are not aware of. It all comes down to the basic element of what stress is.
Stress is an anticipated feeling someone gets when they get into any trouble or
difficulty. The human body reacts physically to any stressor that comes across. For
example, our body has two important systems that play a role sympathetic nervous
systemand parasympathetic system. The parasympathetic system is known as a rest
and digest response in which hormones send adrenaline and other transmitters to your
body. On the other hand, the sympathetic nervous systemis known as a fight or flight
response in which it uses that adrenaline in order to react quickly. Therefore, both
these symptoms react to any stressor that can prepare the human body for anything
that might come across, physically and mentally. (Grant n.p.) Stress can benefit us in
many ways. For one, it can help humans increase their cognitive learning and
Loss Of Freedom In Animal Farm
Animal farm is a book written during the early 20th century. It is a bestseller and
has been used over generations as a way of teaching. In animal farm, the author
george Orwell uses power of the leaders and the hardworking and the gullible
characteristics of the follower to contribute to the theme which is loss of freedom
and equality which is to be aware of your surroundings. Firstly how does the loss of
freedom and equality have anything to do with followers? this is the answer, it has
everything to do with the followers, the animalsare currently been pushed around a
lot lately. They can not read the laws and other important thing going on in the farm.

Napoleon was the leader of the animals after the rebellion so he uses dogs as a way
to intimidate his rival (snowball) so Napoleon character is someone who is
deceitful and can not be trusted so that he was most likely Joseph Stalin in the
russian revolution . The person that challenged napoleon for the leadership of the
farm is Snowball, who is Snowball you might ask ? snowball is based on Leon
Trotsky and both of them share similar characteristics , which are that snowball is
concupiscent ,perspicacious and also well expressed. And he also gained the
loyalty of most of the followers . Who is mr Jones? Mr jones was an often drunk
farmer who was in charge before the animals staged a rebellion . It is believed that
Mr.Jones was based of Tsar Nicholas the second and because of his unkindness that
was why the revolution started. Mr Frederick was an untrustworthy neighbor who
was the astute operator of a neighbouring farm called pinchfield. It is most likely it is
based on Adolf Hitler who was the leader of nazi Germany in the1930 s and 1940 s.
And finally Old Major who was the whose vision before about a place where that

A Moveable Feast By Ernest Hemingway
While reading A Moveable Feast, I felt immersed into Ernest Hemingway s world
and developed a better understanding of him with a human experience. This novel
provides an inside look on both, Hemingway s time in Paris in the 1920s and the
time at the end of his life leading up to his premature death. If one is familiar with
his life, and especially his later years, A Moveable Feastgives insight into his life at
the time of writing his memoir. The text itself is about Paris, but the reflection comes
from an older Hemingway who was sentimental, longing and nostalgic. Regardless of
the comments from family, friends and academics, interpreting the text itself in A
Moveable Feast is the best way to learn about Hemingway and his mindset during the
late 1950s and early 1960s.
Unlike many great books, there are two versions of A Moveable Feast which were
released by individuals separated by two generations. First, there is the 1964 version
which offers the completed and unified memoir on Hemingway s early years in
Paris. It is important to understand that Hemingway never completed the memoir and
his fourth wife, Mary Hemingway, performed much of the editing and final touches.
In contrast, the 2009 version is believed by most to be more accurate to Hemingway
s original manuscripts, but it does not offer a unified story. Even though these
versions are very different from one another they both offer valuable insight on
Hemingway as a person.
Since A Moveable Feast was left unfinished,
Neurosurgeon
Is Neurosurgery The Right Path For Me?
A career as a neurosurgeon is one that is long and vigorous, difficult, and money
making. A neurosurgeon is a physician who specializes in the diagnosis and
treatments of the nervous system. Every day is a new day when you re working
in this career. Some days you will be operating and others you will be discussing
with the patient s family. You never know who the patient is and if you will be
able to help them. Some patients will live and many will die. You need to be able
to move forward and let the past be the past. The schooling to become a
neurosurgeon is some of the longest for any career. To become a neurosurgeon, one
must earn a Bachelor s degree, go through medical school, pass the Medical Licensing
Exam, and complete a neurosurgery residency program. In total it takes anywhere
from 11 16 years to become a fully licensed neurosurgeon. This would mean I would
be at least 29 when I m a neurosurgeon and making real money. There are over 264
colleges and universities in California that offer a Bachelor s degree (California

The Decline of Cantonese Opera in Singapore Essay
Singapore, being a well known cosmopolitan city, has many of its cultural roots
coming from all over the world. Ever since the first record of Singapore s population
structure, the Chinese have dominated in racial concentration, now with a staggering
74.2% in 2013 . Through the course of history, these Chinese migrants have brought
different cultural and religious norms, food preferences and conversing language to
the little red dot from their various provinces. This essay will focus mainly on the
entertainment pastime, Cantonese Opera; on how the Singapore government

In those days, radios were considered very expensive and a relatively
underdeveloped technology. Thus with the introduction of a cable broadcasting
service, broadcasts were now made available to households, even at areas where
radio signals had weak reception. Moreover, SWMDA like many other
associations had jumped on the bandwagon and decided to perform their songs on
Redifussion Singapore. This along with their unparalleled sound quality had
decreased the need to travel out of homes to enjoy Cantonese Opera performances.
People were satisfied with just listening to the songs being performed. The next
turning point was the introduction of television service in 1963 and the
implementation of the Speak Mandarin Campaign (SMC) by the Singapore
government in 1979. Not only did then Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew stop giving
his speeches in Hokkien, all non mandarin Chinese radio and television programs
came to a halt. This outward focus on eliminating dialect as a language of
communication through broadcasting and other channels such as education resulted
in lesser appreciation for entertainment performed fully in dialect; this included
Cantonese Opera. The vacuum was quickly filled by Hong Kong and Taiwanese
opera movies, as well as a series of television operas produced in Singapore,
Following the new trend, all these operas provided subtitles in Chinese characters

Notes On Stock Index Future Contracts
In the example outlined above, the portfolio gained a substantial amount of profit in
the previous nine months, and one way to secure this position would be to sell all the
shares in the portfolio and hold the proceeds in cash with relatively stable rate of
interest 0.75% for three months. Alternatively, the portfolio can be hedged against
future possible outcome of the falling market. Stock index future contracts are
commonly used to hedgemarket risk of a diversified, actively managed portfolio for
a period of time and produce a positive return even in falling market. A fund
manager, who believes that there is a possibility that the market is going to fall, can
enter a shortposition in stock index future in order to hedge the portfolio. The
portfolio outlined above comprises only 15 shares of the FTSE100 index, exact
future hedging would be impossible, as only index futures contracts exist.
Nevertheless, a beta of 1 indicates that the expected return on this portfolio will be
perfectly correlated to the expected return on indexed portfolio, and an effective
result can be achieved by cross hedging.
In order to make a decision whether to choose the cash, or index futures alternatives is
necessary to compare the costs of both transactions. The main advantage in entering
index future contracts instead of selling stocks and buying them back later at a lower
price is transaction costs. Transaction costs for establishing and liquidating index
futures are much lower than what
Saint Mark On Bringing Christianity To Egypt Summary
Rough Draft:
Saint Mark on Bringing Christianity to Egypt
Section One: Set the Scene think about what was going on in the time period before
your topic happens. What was happening in history that the reader should know to
help them understand your topic? Think about the context of the time period that the
reader needs to know.
The initial gesture taken in opposition to Christians was by the command of emperor
Nero, which occurred half a century under his ruling, after the Great Fire of Rome
during 64 AD. During his reign, many abuses were severely punished and put down,
and no fewer new laws were made... Punishment was inflicted on the Christians, a
class of men given to a new and mischievous superstition (Nero as the Antichrist ...

During that period of time, Romans didn t have a belief system; they believed that
the emperor decided everything for the people and that the emperors needed to be
worshipped. This is why they hated knowing that Christians were interfering with
their belief system . According to (http://www.touregypt.net/chiste3.htm), Saint Peter
and Saint Mark went out to convert others, when one night, Saint Peter had a dream
sent from God, telling him and Saint Mark to go to Rome then to Alexandria. After
having had preached in Rome for a while, Saint Mark went to Egypt by the
countryside first and converted many to Christianity; then, after having left a minor
community of Christians there, he went to Alexandria. As soon as he arrived, his
sandal strap broke . He took his sandal to a cobbler, whose name was Anianus. He
became (Saint) John Mark s first proselyte (convert) in Alexandria. Saint Mark
shortly found out that his enemies were looking for him, so he declared Anianus a
bishop, appointed three priests and seven deacons. He left them with commands to
help anyone in need of comfort and then he fled
Statistical Data Of Heart Disease
The purpose of this paper is to speak about statistical data of heart disease in Hartford
Connecticut.
The Epidemiology and the community I have chosen to speak about in this paper
are cardiovascular disease and stroke in the city of Hartford in the state of
Connecticut. According to Heart.org, Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of
death and accounts for more than 17.3 million deaths per year and is expected to
grow to over 23.6 million by 2030 (Heart Disease, Stroke and Research At a
Glance, 2016). Identifying the right data source to obtain information is very
important for managing and targeting the right population in the disease
management process. Information can be found in many places but finding
credible date is very important to assess the community and in comparison the
nationwide problems. Since the introduction of the internet we have been able to
access many places in the world wide web to be more informed and educate
ourselves on disease management. Most of the credible data sources come from
the federal and state level. Some of the resources I was able to obtain in my
research on the web were The American heart association (AHA), in which was
founded in 1924. The AHA is a non profit organization their main mission is to
prevent and provide education on Heart disease. The CDC is a federal agency under
the department of Health and Human Services in the United State. Their mission is to
protect the public in controlling and managing disease in
Telome Fusion
Telomere loss can initiate CIN through chromosome fusion., The loss of telomere
function can be a signal for cell senescence, chromosome fusion is common in cells
that are deficient in the senescence pathway. The importance of telomeres in
preventing chromosome fusion is demonstrated by the extensive chromosome fusion
observed in cells when telomeres become critically short (Yaswen and Stampfer,
2002). Also the loss of telomere function brought about by expression of dominant
negative TRF2 which results in extensive chromosome fusion and cell death (van
Steensel et al., 1998). The type of fusions that occur due to telomere loss depends on
which ends of the chromosome lack telomeres. Loss of telomeres from both ends of
the same chromosome result in the formation of ring chromosome, while the loss of
telomeres from the ends of two different chromosomes result in the formation of
dicentric chromosomes. Both these types of chromosome aberrations are visible at
metaphase and are common in cells in which telomere function has been severely
compromised, such as in cells deficient in TRF2 (John P. Murnane, 2007).... Show

Although fusion between two different chromosomes will not occur, following DNA
replication but the loss of a single telomere can result in fusion of sister chromatids
(Sabatier et al., 2005). This type of chromosome rearrangement is more difficult to
monitor than ring or dicentric chromosomes, because sister chromatid fusions are not
detectable by routine cytogenetic analysis. As first described by McClintock, sister
chromatid fusion can result in prolonged CIN involving breakage/fusion/bridge (B/F
/B) cycles. B/F/B cycles occur when the fused sister chromatids form a bridge during
anaphase and then break when the sister chromatids are pulled toward the daughter
cells during cytokinesis (John P. Murnane,
My Escape From Home
It is my first day at Westvalley high, and boy was my heart racing. I silently go
over my mother s words in my head. New school, new start, new friends. As much
as I know this is not true, I try and keep my hopes high. Trying my best to deny the
constant feeling of being alone. But the truth is I am not alone... I am standing in a
crowded hallway listening to the sudden groans of students as they realise they are no
longer in the paradise they call home. Unfortunately for me the feelingof loneliness
just won t let go, somehow this school seems even lonelier than the dump I call home.
My mother is never home and maybe that is the reason her words feel so dear to my
heart. Almost every day she slaves away at work barely scraping up enough money to
afford the rent only to be greeted by my ill tempered father. My father is almost never
happy and when he gets into one of his moods it is hard to escape his fury. I guess
you could think of school as an escape from home yet now I feel more like a stranger
than ever before.
Bring! Bring! Oh no! Here comes the first day of torture... I slowly stumble into
the classroom making sure my desk is the closest to the back. I couldn t bear the
thought of sitting in the front again, not after my last class. I sit silently as the roll
is called only opening my mouth to murmur the word present before returning back
to my quiet self. I suppose when it all comes down to it most kids seem alright at the
least, but there is one girl that seems to
Why Do Soldiers Credit Card Debt
Soldiers Credit Card Debt
Credit card debt arises because of unexpected predicaments or impulsive financial
decisions. Financial hardships, like credit card debt, are usually the result of poor
financial knowledge. This issue is most frequently found in junior enlisted service
members, single parents, separated, newly married, or those who have recently
relocated. A survey of 700 service members reveals that, more than one in four
reported having more than $10,000 in credit card debt. The enlisted personnel were
the highest to respond with making the minimum payments and paid late fees
(Singletary, 2010). Credit card debt may cause difficulties in Soldiers and families,
has been associated with depression, and influences personal relationships, ... Show

Soldiers will also start to understand the importance of identifying the emotions and
behaviors that lead to excessive purchases of unnecessary articles by credit card. This
allows Soldiers to self regulate, limit the use of their credit card, and develop
strategies to set and achieve short term financial goals. Recognizing the pattern of
activating event, thoughts, and consequences, allows Soldiers to become more
cognizant of their own thought process concerning money. This allows Soldiers in
debt to become more conscious of how they think about and spend money, while
making the decision to take control of their finances. Through appropriate actions,
Soldiers can improve their credit card situation and their outlook on the future.
Self regulation contributes to accomplishments in task performance, job success, and
daily communications with family, friends, and other service members. Self
regulation provides the capacity and capability to alter actions, whether they are
good or bad. It allows an individual to show feelings in a constructive way when
dealing with others, instead of acting impulsively. The most significant meaning of
self regulation is the capacity to stop impulses from generating behavior that is
negative or counterproductive to an individual s goals or

Persuasive Essay On Child Trafficking
To traffick individuals is a severe offense. This crime violates the rights of humans.
Often men, women and children plunge into the hands of traffickers. Human
trafficking is a norm for all countries around the world. The United States is also on
the map for human trafficking. Human traffickers serve a diverse category which
includes ethnic, racial and social groups. We know that perpetrators are not just men
and women. Trafficking young children are on the rise. Trafficker s objective is to
lure children through the internet, social media, telephone, acquaintances that have
been victims of trafficking, popular hangouts, and in the school system where
children are convinced that they are safe and protected. Traffickers often prey on
young individuals by assuring that they will receive an abundance of love, money
and a superior life. Traffickers are practicing fear techniques to entice young children
and teens to engage in several types of sexual act and harsh and unethical work.
Traffickers will exploit young people to participate in commercial sexual activities
and forced labor. Commercial sexual activities may include exploiting young people
through survival sex which includes the exchange of monetary, food, drugs or
lodging, prostitution, and by way of sex tourism. Young people, especially those with
risk factors are vulnerable to human trafficking, The Administration for Children and

How To Write A Critical Lens Essay

  • 1. How To Write A Critical Lens Essay Crafting an essay on the intricacies of "How To Write A Critical Lens Essay" is akin to navigating through a labyrinth of literary analysis and structured argumentation. It demands a profound understanding of both the chosen literary works and the critical lens through which they are to be examined. Firstly, one must grapple with selecting appropriate quotations from literature that not only encapsulate the essence of the chosen theme but also offer sufficient depth for analysis. This necessitates a keen eye for textual evidence and an understanding of the broader context in which the works were written. Moreover, the process of constructing a coherent argument within the confines of a critical lens requires meticulous planning and organization. Each paragraph must contribute to the overarching thesis, seamlessly weaving together analysis and interpretation while adhering to the constraints imposed by the chosen theoretical framework. Additionally, writing a critical lens essay demands a nuanced understanding of literary theory and its application to specific texts. This involves delving into the complexities of various critical perspectives, such as feminism, Marxism, or psychoanalysis, and evaluating how they illuminate the chosen works. Furthermore, mastering the art of synthesis is paramount in a critical lens essay. It entails synthesizing disparate ideas and textual evidence to construct a cohesive and compelling argument that transcends mere summary or paraphrase. In essence, crafting a proficient critical lens essay requires a blend of literary acumen, critical thinking skills, and meticulous attention to detail. It is a formidable task that demands dedication, patience, and a willingness to engage deeply with both the text and the theoretical framework under scrutiny. • 2. Rhetorical Analysis Of The Mystery Essay Watchmen Rhetorical Analysis With the admission of confidence and guilt from Veidt, to the explosion of psychic energy that destroys New York, the last two pages of chapter eleven of Watchmen are filled with moving lines , moments in a work that are filled with meaning and emotion. In these two pages, the mystery that has fueled the plot of the graphic novel reaches an epic climax in which the themes and ideas within the work are simultaneously revealed and questioned. With deliberate structure, powerful imagery, and self reference, Alan Moore literally and figuratively destroys motifs that he had built throughout the work to challenge the morality represented by Veidt and force the reader to question how right or wrong it is. Firstly, the structure of these pages reveals much toward the emotional impact. Usually cut into 3x3 frames with dialogue, these pages break the conventions that had been built through eleven issues. The first page is filled with three page length rows, only one of which contains text. In the text, Ozymandias delivers a crippling line which emphasizes the pointlessness and helplessness of heroes that have been built up throughout the comic to be fighters and winners. The second row is the look of shock, with a gigantic doomsday clockin the background, imagery that has been used to the point of motif, once again emphasizing the inevitability of doom. Finally, the last row is that of innocent bystanders of the city of New York, characters in

  • 4. Biomechanics In Baseball Some players are blessed with good genetics. Some of the best pitchers are tall and have long strides that assist them in the throwing off the mound. They are usually blessed with the ability to throw hard which gives them increased velocity and force. They must learn good technique to perform at a high level. Biomechanics are essential in executing quality pitches in baseball. These are the wind up, stride, cocking phase, acceleration, arm deceleration, and follow through. The wind up focuses on leg raise and posture while storing energy for lateral motion. The stride involves the preparation of the shoulders and elbows for the cocking motion while stepping forward to plant the foot. The cocking phase involves external rotation of the throwing shoulder as the plant foot prepares for the body s momentum going forward. The acceleration is a combination of the body s truck and shoulder rotation going forward while the elbow, forearm and wrist increase velocity and angle. Lots of force is placed on the throwing arm. Arm deceleration involves the release of the ball and the relaxing of the muscles. Finally, the follow through is the body s natural movement from the energy applied to move forward and a leg kick is used to keep the body stable. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A pitcher needs to execute proper pitching technique to get the best result out of his pitches. He must be able to throw the baseball fast enough to avoid the batter from hitting the ball. Holding the baseball differently in your hand and the angle of the arm when releasing the baseball will cause it to move instead of going in a straight line. The release point of the baseball accompanied with velocity and movement will help a pitcher locate the pitch in and around home plate. The entire body is moving forward when the arm is going forward to help generate and transfer energy from the body to the

The Importance Of Inventory Management Systems Of Asda Essay To critically evaluate the importance of inventory management systems of Asda, UK Abstract The topic has been chosen for research is to critically evaluate the inventory management systems of retail industry in UK. This industry is continuously growing up with pleasure of customers even the fluctuation in customer choices. Moreover, this sector has been hugely impacted from 2008 to 2010 by the economic crisis, when customer did not have enough money to spend. As a result some retail businesses have incurred a loss and shut down their operation. Though some of the retailer took the challenge and continued their business to see the future success. But inaccuracy of stock count leads to poor availability in store level stock. Moreover employees inadequate level of skills and improper management clue to poor control of inventory management. Literature Review: Inventory management plays a significant role in the retail industry for succession the
  • 6. Grammatical Analysis To Chisholm Lexical and grammatical analysis Avoidance of agency or attribution of agency to collectivities and not individuals, is a characteristic feature of Chisholm s speech. She tends to use generalized and impersonal constructions. For instance, in the opening phrases of the address, she puts forth the following example: [...] when a young woman graduates from college and starts looking for a job, she is likely to have a frustrating and demeaning experience ahead of her. If she walks into an office for an interview, the first question she will be asked is, Do you type? • 7. External Conflict In Lord Of The Flies Bedtimes and rules are something many children despise when they are growing up. They want to grow up and break away from their parents. The boys from Lord of the Flies are experiencing what it is like to be on their own when they crash landed on an island with no adults. Boys ranging from ages five to twelve are stranded on an island together and have to learn to adapt to their new environment to survive. This creates many problems among the older boys who want to hold power. William Golding conveys that deprivation from civilization can cause people to completely changetheir morals and sense of right from wrong in his novel Lord of the Flies through the use of external conflictwhich is the boys struggle with power and being stranded on the island, savage characterization, and symbolism such as the Lord of the Flies and Jacks spear. The theme of Lord of the Flies is implied through external conflict. The external conflict in the book expresses the theme by causing disagreements between the boys on what is important to survive on the island. The external conflict is that the boys are stuck on the island and two of the boys, Jack and Ralph, are fighting for power. Jack is a choir boy with a cocky personality, which is causing many conflicts and Ralph has a strong and appealing appearance and personality. Jack thinks hunting is the most important thing on the island right now, and Ralph thinks shelter and a signal fire is more important. Ralph is currently chief right now and has more power causing Jack to fight with him to gain power. Ralph and Jack are bickering on the importance of the signal fire and Ralph states I was talking about smoke! Don t you want to be rescued? All you can talk about is pig, pig, pig! (Golding 54). This quote is an example of the differences between Ralph and Jack. Ralph has more logic about what is important to get rescued instead of Jack because Jack only cares about killing a pig before even thinking about getting rescued which he says in the novel that he would like to kill a pig before being rescued. Another example of how the theme is shown throughout the novel is through savage characterization. Savage characterization conveys the theme by showing the reader how the

Before of the institution of the republic, the romans were a monarchy since their beginning and they were basically a pastoral people. Rome suffer several changes and improvements under the control of the Etruscan kings. The Etruscan were civilization settled north of Rome in Etruria, and they once had control over almost all the Italic peninsula. The Etruscans influences in Rome were profound, they transformed Rome from a pastoral community to a city (91). The Etruscan built the street and roads that help the development of temples, markets, shops, streets, and houses. They basically brought urbanization to Rome. It is fairly to say that the Rome republic was a fusion between the elements of the Etruscan civilization and the Rome elements. The combination of the different political institutions and policies made the Romans succeed in their conquest territories. The policies that the romans implemented in the republic years played a crucial role in the conquest of the Latium and the Italic peninsula. The various policies that the romans established to govern Italy is called the Roman confederation. One important policy was that Romans made felt the conquered people that they helped to succeed Rome. • 10. Essay about Analysis of Glory Analysis of Glory Glory is a movie about the fifty fourth Massachusetts regiment in the civil war. This was the first all black regiment the Union ever allowed to fight. Throughout the movie one quote kept proving itself true, We went down standing up. The members of the fifty fourth proved that they wanted to go down standing up just by joining the army. However there were many situations that proved this further, as the film continued. During the regiment s training period a message arrived at the camp. This message was a warning that all blacks found by confederates would be put to death, as well as their commanding officers. As a result of this warning Colonel Shaw was accepting any soldier s resignations on the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The regiment would be vastly outnumbered in such a battle. Despite the unfortunate odds, the soldiers seemed honored to be the first into the fort. Death was extremely probable for these soldiers, but they wanted to be remembered as brave men that went down standing up. These men willingly walked into almost certain death. This proves how strongly they believed in their cause. One of the main characters was Colonel Shaw. In the beginning of the film, Shaw played dead to escape death. In this part of the movie he was a coward. During the course of the movie Shaw grew a great deal. In the end he seemed to realize he was an equal with his men. Colonel Shaw was killed and buried with his men, which seemed to be a symbol of equality. The Union soldiers were not the only ones to demonstrate a willingness to take a stand, the Southerners also demonstrated a great willingness to go down fighting. The Confederates had beliefs that were opposing to that of the north, but the beliefs were just as strong. The South was taking quite a chance by fighting the civil war, given the fact that they had far less men than the North. The mere fact that the Southerners were willing to die for what they honestly believed were their rights, proves that they wanted to go down standing up. What the blacks did was a bit more remarkable than what the Southerners did, though. The people of the Union may not have respected the Southerners, but they were at least
  • 11. Legalizing Gay Marriages Marriage is a way that many people express their love to each other, showing how strong a commitment one can have towards another person. In recent years, the idea of what constitutes a married couple has changed. Traditionally, a man and a woman get married and live happily ever after. Over time, we have seen men and women of different colors and get married, as well as people of the same gender. Marriagehas changed and has become such a huge topic of conversation and debate. Homosexual marriages have now become legal in all the U.S. I do not support gay marriages because homosexual couples should not have the right to get married, homosexual couples should not adopt without being judged, and also should not have the same financial benefits... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Whenever a gay couple adopts a child, the couple should think about the child s stability. Adopting a child while being homosexual can have many effects on the child and how the child view things. A child that grows up in a gay house hold may grow up and think that it is okay to date someone of the same gender. Homosexual couples cannot produce children, so therefore they must adopt if they want children. A homosexual couple who adopts children does not take the children in consideration. In the article, In the Best Interests of the (Silenced) Child, the author says, to include children s voices would be to acknowledge children s agency and individuality and in doing so would undermine the figure of the passive, innocent and powerless child which sustains the best interests rhetoric. The author is basically saying that a child that is for adoption does not have a voice and no one takes in consideration of the child s feelings. A gay couple that adopts does this for their satisfaction instead of the child. Many heterosexual couples would argue that a child needs a male figure in their life as well as a female
  • 12. Kidney Stone Research Paper I have chosen the topic about kidney stone because my favorite comic book series featured it as a character. Kidney stones, also known as, Nephrolithiasis or Renal Calculi, are crystalized lumps formed by insoluble calcium compounds (Kidney Stones). Normally, the two kidneys in the human body are in charge of filtering blood to produce urine. The urine travel down to the ureters, then into the urinary bladder, and finally excreted through the urethra (Baxter, 2016a). When there is not enough water to dilute the waste products, they stay in the kidneyand increase the risk of stone formation. As waste stayed in the kidney, it start to build up and form into a kidney stone. Depending on the size of the kidney stone, some may slide down the urinary tract without causing any discomfort. However, because of the small diameter of the ureters, large usually get stuck and block the flow of urine (Baxter, 2016c).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If the size of the stone are less than five millimeters in diameter, it should pass through the urinary tract without the need of surgery or medicine. However, if the diameter of the stone are bigger than ten millimeters, then it must be removed by surgery or lithotripsy (Baxter, 2016b). In order to determine what kind of kidney stones have formed, a 24 hour urine sample, blood screen, calcium loading tests, and stone analysis has to be performed (Baxter, 2016b). Men between the ages of twenty to thirty are most likely to be diagnosed with kidney stones (Kidney Stones). Approximately 70% of men and 10% of women are diagnosed with kidney stones by the age of seventy
  • 13. 5 Drivers Of Sports Research Paper There are five drivers in the sports world that are keys to understanding which way sports are moving. The first driver talks about how there s a blurry line between work and leisure in sports (Gunston, 2004). There is a blurry line because some sports to some people could be leisurely to them while others it may seem too much like a job, this is changing the sports we play and the types of people that play each sport. The second driver explains how consumers wantinstant entertainment when they are watching sports, which will put tons of pressure on people with sports related jobs and even the sports industry as a whole. Majority of people that watch sports want what they are watching to be as interesting as it can be, I d personally agree because I d say everyone likes seeing an entertaining and electrifying game rather than something boring that s going to lose your interest. The third driver speaks about how the media and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I believe this is very similar to sports today. Star sports athletes are the idols for kids all across the world, if they want to be or not. Sports stars get watched very closely meaning that any mess up could potentially ruin them as an idol. I feel like DeMarcus Cousins explains this without words. Boogie is debatable the best center in the NBA, granted he has what some would call a bad attitude. He has kids looking up to him wanting to be the same player he is, then he will let his emotions get to him and do something that many people frown upon. Machosport is the future of sports in my opinion. Technosport is when winning matters more than everything, even ethics (Gunston, 2004). To some athletes winning is everything even if you have to cheat to win. Ethically this is not where sports need to go. We don t need big businesses running everyone in that association as pawns. I wouldn t enjoy sports if this is what it came
  • 14. Wonder Woman Analysis Since their inception, comics have been a way to raise public awareness and introduce readers to current events plaguing the nation, and to represent the struggle of minorities. Often, the characters addressing such issues are superheroes who are both inspirations in their successes and relatable in their struggles. As the first recognized female superhero, Wonder Womanfaces and overcomes challenges as she opens a door for women into the world of comics. William Marston s goal for Wonder Woman was to create an independent heroine with feminist undertones who could succeed on the same level as the popular male heroes of the time. Wonder Woman was a feminine character with all the strength of Superman plus all the allure of a good and beautiful woman, perfect for the face of the fight for women s rights and recognition (187). The strong female superhero became the face of Ms. Magazine, a women s rights publication, with the iconic cover staring the character and proclaiming Wonder Woman for President, (centerfold, last page). She also appears in an underground comic book titled It Ain t Me Babe that was published in July 1970 by the Women s Liberation Basement Press in Berkeley, California, alongside other popular female comic characters who rebel against their reliance on men: Veronica ditches Archie for Betty, Petunia Pig tells Porky to fix his own dinner, and Supergirl tells Superman to get lost (centerfold, It Ain t Me Babe ). Wonder Woman s participation in this feminist rebelling reinforced her role as an icon in the feminist movement. The character has internal references that allude to feminist ideas directly and are integral in her representing the movement. The way she is powerless when bound in chains by a man symbolizes feminist propaganda and protests involving chains restricting women and women breaking free of their bindings. On page 85 of The Secret History of Wonder Woman, the image of Lou Rogers tearing off bonds representing the anti female sentiment in politics is situated

Some of the bills affected me directly on a professional and a personal level. The billwe choose for our assignment was a perfect example. Our bill was about immigrants and their families. Those details keep the reader in the game, so to speak. Another one of the author s man ideas is using the leaders in separate points of view. In every chapter there was a different leader and his point of view. This showed how everyone felt about each battle or occurrence. The author did not attempt to sway the reader to one army or the other. He let the reader choose whose side he or she was on. Michael Shaara does not ever describe army or the other as the bad guys or the good guys. The strategies and tactics used during this war were described in detail. The more important thing described, however, is not the actual strategy, but who made these strategies and what the other leaders thought of them. When General Lee decided to attack the enemy head on instead of going around them, not everyone agreed with the plan. Longstreet, for one, thought that they should have gone around the enemy and hit them from the back. These conflicts were great to see because it showed that everything was not going in perfect unison. It showed that these strategies we not always etched in stone. These plans had the potential to be changed many times. No successful strategy has gone uncontested and unchanged. You are worn out from giving birth multiple times and you are desperate to know of a way to prevent yourself from having more children. This was the exact case for millions of women in the twentieth century. Women had no rights as a person, nor did they have any rights to their own bodies. In this era, the topics of sexuality, sex or birth controlwere all taboo subject matters and never discussed between married or un married couples. It wasn t until the year of 1912 that a woman by the name of Margaret Sangerstarted her crusade to promote the right for women to use contraceptives to prevent unwanted pregnancies. In this essay, I will discuss what inspired Margaret Sanger to stand up for birth control rights. I will also explore the trials and legal issues that Sanger came up against. Lastly, I will talk about the victory and the difference Sanger made for women in the twentieth century. Margaret Louise Higgins (Sanger was her married name) was born in the year of 1879 in Corning, New York. She was sixth of eleven children and was born into an Irish American family. Margaret knew at a very young age that she wanted to make a difference to empower women and to leave her mark on the world. Margaret was first inspired to go into the nursing field after witnessing her own mother die at the young age of forty from tuberculosis (TB). Margaret s mother endured eighteen pregnancies but, she

These synopses from Angela s Ashes by Frank McCourt and The Street by Ann Petry share a common theme: perseverance through hardships. In Angela s Ashes, a memoir by Frank McCourt, he stells about the harships he endured through his childhood, such as, struggling to assist his family in the midst of poverty by stealing food to provide for them. Futhermore, in The Street, a novel by Ann Petry, tells the story of young Lutie Johnson, a homeless single mom who is seeking shelter for herself and her children. In these two excerpts, the authors use the characters, settings, and events to develop the theme, which I ve identified as perseverance through hardships. In McCourt s memoir, Angela s Ashes , he uses the characters, settings, and events to develop the theme. In the quote, We don t laugh long, there is no more breadand we re hungry, the four of us (McCourt 1). In this quote, it is explaining how McCourt and his siblings constantly struggle with hunger due to poverty. This quote assists in developing the theme by adding in the starvation of the McCourt family which intensifies the theme of perseverance through hardhips. An example of events developing the theme is exemplified through the quote, I can t shove all that under my jersey. Oh, God. Should I take the whole box? The people passing by pay me no attention. I might as well take the whole box. My mother would say you might as well be hung for a sheep as a lamb. I life the box and try to look like a messenger boy making a delivery and no one says a word (McCourt 2). This quote tells the reader the lengths McCourt was willing to go to in order to provide for his family. This develops the theme by showing how McCourt perservered through difficult times in his childhood. You can look in people s windows and see how cozy it is in their kitchens with fires glowing or ranges black and hot everything bright in the electric light cups and saucers on the tables with plates of sliced bread pounds of butter jars of jam smells of fried eggs and rashers

  • 36. General Instrumentation Of A Power Plant General Instrumentation in a Power Plant In a Thermal Power Plant, Chemical Energy of fuel is converted to Electrical Energy. Actually this energy conversion takes place in different stages. Firstly, in Boiler, the chemical energy in fuel is converted into heat energy. During process of combustion the carbon, sulphur etc available in the fuel reacts with air and liberates heat and flue gases. This heat is absorbed by the water walls of the furnace and steam is generated. Secondly, in Turbine this heat energy, in the form of heat energy is converted into mechanical energy. And Finally, in Generators, which is coupled with the turbine, the mechanical energy is converted into electrical energy. Therefore, a Thermal Power Plant can be regarded as a process industry. Now, for successful completion of the process, a good number of process parameters need continuous monitoring which needs instrumentation. Just like other process plant, the instrumentation system of a thermal power plant has two parts: Measurement: It deals with measurement of different parameters of the process by deploying different sensor which is mainly known as primary instrument and operating personnel by displaying it on indicator or recording it on recorder or storing it in Data Acquisition System(DAS) or in some cases, by generating audiovisual alarm signal protective signal. Sometimes, the intensity of stress causes anxiety or frustration. Which is why for the most part, stress is taken as a negative impact on an individual. Whether that stress comes from school, money, environment, work or all of them, everyone walks the same path of stress sometimes without even realizing it. Although many people perceive stress in a negative way, there s some surprising benefits of stress that we are not aware of. It all comes down to the basic element of what stress is. Stress is an anticipated feeling someone gets when they get into any trouble or difficulty. The human body reacts physically to any stressor that comes across. For example, our body has two important systems that play a role sympathetic nervous systemand parasympathetic system. The parasympathetic system is known as a rest and digest response in which hormones send adrenaline and other transmitters to your body. On the other hand, the sympathetic nervous systemis known as a fight or flight response in which it uses that adrenaline in order to react quickly. Therefore, both these symptoms react to any stressor that can prepare the human body for anything that might come across, physically and mentally. (Grant n.p.) Stress can benefit us in many ways. For one, it can help humans increase their cognitive learning and

This novel provides an inside look on both, Hemingway s time in Paris in the 1920s and the time at the end of his life leading up to his premature death. If one is familiar with his life, and especially his later years, A Moveable Feastgives insight into his life at the time of writing his memoir. The text itself is about Paris, but the reflection comes from an older Hemingway who was sentimental, longing and nostalgic. Regardless of the comments from family, friends and academics, interpreting the text itself in A Moveable Feast is the best way to learn about Hemingway and his mindset during the late 1950s and early 1960s. Unlike many great books, there are two versions of A Moveable Feast which were released by individuals separated by two generations. First, there is the 1964 version which offers the completed and unified memoir on Hemingway s early years in Paris. It is important to understand that Hemingway never completed the memoir and his fourth wife, Mary Hemingway, performed much of the editing and final touches. In contrast, the 2009 version is believed by most to be more accurate to Hemingway s original manuscripts, but it does not offer a unified story. Even though these versions are very different from one another they both offer valuable insight on Hemingway as a person. Since A Moveable Feast was left unfinished,

This along with their unparalleled sound quality had decreased the need to travel out of homes to enjoy Cantonese Opera performances. Not only did then Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew stop giving his speeches in Hokkien, all non mandarin Chinese radio and television programs came to a halt. Notes On Stock Index Future Contracts In the example outlined above, the portfolio gained a substantial amount of profit in the previous nine months, and one way to secure this position would be to sell all the shares in the portfolio and hold the proceeds in cash with relatively stable rate of interest 0.75% for three months. Alternatively, the portfolio can be hedged against future possible outcome of the falling market. Stock index future contracts are commonly used to hedgemarket risk of a diversified, actively managed portfolio for a period of time and produce a positive return even in falling market. A fund manager, who believes that there is a possibility that the market is going to fall, can enter a shortposition in stock index future in order to hedge the portfolio. The portfolio outlined above comprises only 15 shares of the FTSE100 index, exact future hedging would be impossible, as only index futures contracts exist. Nevertheless, a beta of 1 indicates that the expected return on this portfolio will be perfectly correlated to the expected return on indexed portfolio, and an effective result can be achieved by cross hedging. In order to make a decision whether to choose the cash, or index futures alternatives is necessary to compare the costs of both transactions. The main advantage in entering index future contracts instead of selling stocks and buying them back later at a lower price is transaction costs. Transaction costs for establishing and liquidating index futures are much lower than what

  • 49. Telome Fusion Telomere loss can initiate CIN through chromosome fusion., The loss of telomere function can be a signal for cell senescence, chromosome fusion is common in cells that are deficient in the senescence pathway. The importance of telomeres in preventing chromosome fusion is demonstrated by the extensive chromosome fusion observed in cells when telomeres become critically short (Yaswen and Stampfer, 2002). Also the loss of telomere function brought about by expression of dominant negative TRF2 which results in extensive chromosome fusion and cell death (van Steensel et al., 1998). The type of fusions that occur due to telomere loss depends on which ends of the chromosome lack telomeres. Loss of telomeres from both ends of the same chromosome result in the formation of ring chromosome, while the loss of telomeres from the ends of two different chromosomes result in the formation of dicentric chromosomes. Both these types of chromosome aberrations are visible at metaphase and are common in cells in which telomere function has been severely compromised, such as in cells deficient in TRF2 (John P. Murnane, 2007).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As first described by McClintock, sister chromatid fusion can result in prolonged CIN involving breakage/fusion/bridge (B/F /B) cycles. B/F/B cycles occur when the fused sister chromatids form a bridge during anaphase and then break when the sister chromatids are pulled toward the daughter cells during cytokinesis (John P. Murnane,
