Epilepsy is a condition that causes repeated seizures due to abnormal electrical activity in the brain. Symptoms include temporary memory loss, teeth clenching, and loss of bladder control. Epilepsy is typically diagnosed after a person experiences more than one seizure. Treatment involves medications that are selected based on seizure type, with about two-thirds of patients able to control seizures through medication. Common medications for epilepsy include Neurontin (gabapentin) which is used to treat seizures and nerve pain.
