Tying shoelaces is an art especially if you have a keen eye for different shoe tying
techniques. If you are teaching your children to tie their shoes, or if you are trying out
a new style yourself, you need easy to follow step by step guide to get that simple
shoe lace transform in to an ornamental masterpiece. Plus, you want to assure that
your shoelace knots don’t come off after every few minutes or have you landing on
your nose in a public place. There is no worse embarrassment than stumbling on
your shoelaces and losing your balance bizarrely in front of your friends. Their day
might be made because of you but you can probably never forget those disturbing

several hours.
Let’s look up some of the very funky yet easy shoe tying styles:
THE BASIC KNOT:
● This is also known as the beginner’s knot as it is the easiest way to tie your
shoes. If you are teaching your children how to tie their shoes, you should
show them this knot.
● First undo your shoelaces and keep your shoes on the ground so that both the
laces are opposite to each other and resting on the ground.
● Next pick the ends of both the laces and make a X with them. Pull the upper
lace from inside the X and then pull both ends tightly. The first loop is done.
● Next make bunny ears out of both the ends of shoe laces and again bring
them together forming an X. Then pull one bunny ear out of the X and
immediately pull tightly both the ears simultaneously.
THE CIRCLE KNOT:
● First tie the basic standard knot. Then tie another basic knot but make sure
that you don’t pull it. Model it in to a circle shape. Leave the knot open a little
and lay it down on the shoe.
● Next take the right end of the lace and pull it out gently from inside the circle.
Don’t tighten up yet. Hold it loosely but hold it well so that the shape does not
distort.
● Next take the left end of the lace and pull it out as well from inside the circle.
Now you have two bunny ears again but this knot forms bunny ears from
inside. Pull both the loops evenly so that the knot forms a proper bow.

THE IAN KNOT:
● This is also a very simple yet classy knot. You will have to tie the basic knot
first and have both the laces tightly pulled in your hands.
● Now take the right end of the shoelace and form a hook shape out of it. You
will lift the lace and bend it upright so that the edge of the lace is outward and
the body of the lace is inward.
● Repeat this technique with the left lace while holding the right one in a correct
position. Bend your left shoe lace in the same hook like manner and hold the
shape well.
● Now bring both the hooks together to form an X.
● Pass the right hook out of the circle of the left hook, while holding them close
together properly.
● Pull both the hooks once the right is out of the left.
● You will have clean tight loops on both ends.
● This knot is superbly ideal if you are travelling to long distances or for long
hours as this knot does not untie easily.

4. MORE FUN WAYS TO TIE YOUR SHOES:
Shoe laces are great accessories if you know how to tie them fashionably. Here are a
few more styles to pop your shoes with splendor.
LADDER STYLING YOUR SHOES:
Instead of now tying a knot let’s tie the whole lace exquisitely.
● Remove the shoe laces from the shoe.
● Place the shoelaces inside the first holes with their edges facing down
● Pull out both the edges together such that they both are even at the ends
● Now move up the edges straight up to the higher eyelets.
● Next move the edges horizontally straight such that the edges are underneath
the vertical line of shoe lace.
● Move on the shoelace through the upper eyes straightly.
● Repeat the procedure till you have laced the last eyes.

CROSS BOW STYLE:
This is again a very fun and innovative technique to spice up your sense of shoe
fashion:
● Take out the shoelaces.

5. ● Take one end of the shoelace and pass them through the first set of eyes with
the end up. Now take it to the top most eye making a cross
● Continue moving the same end to the next highest eye and again move it
down to the lowest eye making an X.
● Now take the second end of the lace and start lacing it horizontally from top
of the X. Move it across and above so that the lace is straight from the top
and diagonal from beneath.
● Bring the loose end of the second lace to the bottom eye from underneath so
that both the ends can be tied up.

How to tie bean boots
DOUBLE BOW STYLE:
● Insert the shoelace in the right bottom eye of the shoe from above. Pull it out
from beneath and take it straight up to the top eye of the shoe.
● Pull out the end from beneath and pass on the lace horizontally to the top left
eye. Move it down and again move it horizontally from above to the second
eye.
● Now take the lace and pull it out from under both the horizontal lines and
circle it in to two loops such that it forms a bow in the middle of the shoe.
● Repeat the steps to the next eyes so that a second bow is formed
● Now pull out the lace from the last eye and tie both the ends together.

TWO COLOR FLASH:
● Take any two colored laces.
● Start from the left side. Take a green colored lace and from lace it from the
second eye from inside. Pull out the lace and make a loop.
● Now pass the lace from underneath to the next eye and again make a loop.
Continue till the last eye.
● Repeat the same method on the right side using a pink colored lace.
● Next intercourse both the colored loops from inside each other till you reach
the bottom eye.
● Secure both the colored loops end with the remaining ends.
