2. When we use it?
We use the Simple Present when we want
to express the idea that an action is
repeated or usual. The action can be a
habit, a hobby, a daily event, a scheduled
event or something that often happens. It
can also be something a person often
forgets or usually does not do.
3. Form of the sentence
• Form of the verb: Root form & ¨S¨ form for
third person
• Auxiliaries: Do & does
Subject _Auxiliary Verb_ Complement__
Examples:
• I come to school everyday (Affirmative)
• I don’t come to school everyday (Negative)
• Do you come to school everyday? (Question)
• When do you come to school?(Information
Q.)
4. Rules for the¨S¨form
• Add an “S” at the end of the verb, when
the verb ends is “ss,ch,sh & x”.
• Add “es” when the verb ends in “y”
preceded by a consonant, change to “i”
and “es”. When “y” is preceded by a
vowell add “ess”.
• To the other verbs just add “s”.
• Irregular verbs: do-does, go-goes, have-
has
