No último sábado (30/01), Leonardo DiCaprio deixou o palco do SAG Awards 2016 como um dos principais vencedores da premiação distribuída pelo Sindicato de Atores dos Estados Unidos, em Los Angeles. Considerado uma das prévias do Oscar, o prêmio só aumenta a expectativa do ator, e de seus fãs, de, enfim, conquistar a sua primeira estatueta "The Academy Awards", já que, também por seu papel em "O Regresso", já tenha conquistado o título de melhor ator no Globo de Ouro deste ano. Mas por que não se tem a garantia de que dessa vez o galã, de 41 anos, deixará o tapete vermelho com a imagem reluzente nas mãos e um sorriso notável? Será que em sua quinta indicação para o prêmio máximo do cinema sairá novamente de mãos abanando?
Vittorio Tedeschi analisa: a primeira teoria para explicar o porquê de ser tão preterido pela Academia vem de 1997, quando Dicaprio ganhou os holofotes do mundo em 1997, ao ser protagonista de Titanic, maior bilheteria do cinema até 2009, quando a produção foi desbancada por Avatar. O marcante papel do então jovem Leo carimbou sua carreira, tornando-o prisioneiro do próprio sucesso e da própria beleza, já que, nos anos seguintes, teve seu rosto mais ilustrado em capas de revistas do que em telas de cinema, em si, inclusive por seu namoro com a Top model Gisele Bündchen.
A segunda resposta para a não conquista de Dicaprio pode estar em um erro da Warner Bros, em 2007. Isso porque, naquele ano, o ator protagonizou dois filmes pelo estúdio: Os Infiltrados, considerado por especialistas como a melhor atuação da carreira de Leo, e Diamante de Sangue, o qual foi indicado naquele ano. A discutível escolha da Warner só facilitou o caminho de Forest Whitaker, que levou a estatueta de melhor ator por sua atuação irretocável em O Último Rei da Escócia.
A terceira conclusão para Leo não ter um Oscar em sua estante é reconhecer que no prêmio de melhor ator coadjuvante, o galã não poderia ter ficado pelo título dado para Tommy Lee Jones. Bem como a premiação para Jamie Foxx, por Ray, em 2005 foi justa e a já citada em 2007, para Forest Whitaker. Talvez a única acirrada disputa tenha sido em 2014, quando foi derrotado por Matthew McConaughey, apesar de sua grande atuação em The Wolf of Wall Street.
Por último, Dicaprio ainda é considerado "novo" para o Oscar, se analisarmos a idade de outros atores premiados pela Academia nos últimos 45 anos. No período, a seleta lista de atores premiados antes dos 40 anos tem apenas 14 nomes, incluindo Daniel Day-Lewis, Robert De Niro e Jack Nicholson. Agora, aos 41 anos, Leo se aproxima da média de 44 anos. Finalizando, Dicaprio é o favorito para 2016. Como o próprio ator definiu, "foi a filmagem mais difícil da minha vida, mas no final teve sua recompensa porque González Iñárritu traduziu esse esforço em uma obra de arte", afirmou, sobre o diretor, em entrevista à agência EFE.
