COVID-19 spreads mainly through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs, sneezes or talks within 6 feet of another person. It can also spread through contact with contaminated surfaces, although this is less common. To protect yourself, wash your hands often with soap and water for 20 seconds, avoid close contact with others by staying at least 6 feet apart, cover your mouth and nose with a mask when around others, cover coughs and sneezes, and clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces daily.
