TDC Health Limited Nigeria Business Plan Opportunity Presentation 2024
How to get started in Video Marketing
1. Shoot Your Own Videos to Grow Your Business
Presented by Ally Adams MIPS
2. Preamble
• The idea for this presentation came from Facebook.
• Video has traditionally been a tool out of reach for a many companies.
• Now it’s in their pocket and easy to do.
• With great power comes great responsibility!
• This is a crash course in creating great looking videos free of charge without necessarily bringing
the professionals in.
3. The Biggest Mistake People Make
• Pick up the phone straight away.
• The technical side of it is the least important.
• Content is King!
• Start with your goals, ensure everything you do is building towards them.
• The main word to keep in your head is audience.
• Who are they?
• Why would they invest time in watching your videos?
• How are your videos going to sell, without selling?
4. Fail To Prepare, Prepare To Fail
• Make a plan!
• For each video, produce a structure of some sort.
5. Time To Shoot. But Still Don’t Pick Up The Camera…
• First of all, you need to be prepared.
• Are you confident in what your saying?
• Rehearse talking points.
• Perhaps consider using an autocue app
6. Still Don’t Pick Up The Phone! Take a trip to France…
• Mise en Scene. Everything in the frame.
• And I mean EVERYTHING.
• Your Clothing
• The Background
• Is it Tidy?
• What does it say about you?
• The Colour of the shot
7. Lights!
• Using existing lights? Sure…
• Don’t sit directly underneath, creates harsh shadow on your neck and eyes.
• Don’t stand just in front of one as you’ll be dark and the background will be light.
• Place yourself so the light is half way between you and the camera.
9. Have You Heard that Sound Is Important?
• Option number 1: Built in Camera Mic.
• Great for interviews.
• Sounds a bit unprofessional, especially outside, in rooms which echo, or loud spaces.
• Option number 2: Headphones
• Plug in your headphones and use the mic on them to capture your speaking.
• Sounds much more professional and clear.
• Not great for interviews.
10. Lastly the Camera
• Keep the camera static.
• Use a car suction mount.
• Phone clamp.
• Tripod mount.
• Try to add slow movement.
• Photos you can digitially zoom in and out of in editing software on your phone.
• Rest your phone on a plastic wallet and slide it along a table to get a sliding shot.
• Expose the image correctly. Tap on the area which you want to be the focus of the shot.
• Orientate your phone correctly.
• Always use the rear camera, not the selfie one. Two reasons why…
• Finally the height of the camera.
11. What To Do with the Videos
• Where to put them?
• YouTube is a must have.
• Facebook is a great place to start.
• Think about where your audience are, and go there.
• Paid advertising on Facebook is cheap and helps you make new connections.
• Use Hashtags…
• When to post them?
• Experiment.
• Analyse their performance!
