Presentation from Higher Ed Summit 2018 by Melodi Guilbault & Shravanthi Budhi of NJIT Martin Tuchman School of Management There are multiple ways to integrate Salesforce on campus and provide students with access to real-world skills that employers need. The Tuchman School of Management (MTSM) at NJIT will share their success with different models of engagement including bootcamps, info sessions, career panels, Trailhead workshops, course offerings and student leader groups. MTSM has increased student engagement with Salesforce exponentially in the past semester through these initiatives. In this session, we will explain how these initiatives are designed to help properly train and prepare MTSM students in CRM software and provide resources to students to prepare for high-demand jobs.

4. Information Session
Organize through Salesforce sales representatives
Introductory session for students to better understand Salesforce and Salesforce careers in the
ecosystem
• 90 student attendees
• Introduced Salesforce, and discussed various careers at Salesforce and their ecosystem
• Trailhead workshop
• Followed up with a career panel

5. Boot camps

6. Career Panels
Organize a panel with 3-4 employees
• Employees within different roles or industries help to diversify the subjects discussed on the panel
• Reach out to various professionals through the Success community
Tailor questions to common inquires students have about Salesforce and its platform
• Incorporate a Q&A and Networking break to allow students to personally ask employees any
questions

7. Trailhead
Developed a Quick Start Guide
• 15 page Quick start guide made available in the Business Analytics Lab to offer support on getting started
with Trailhead
Trained Lab Assistants
• Student lab assistants are also available to guide students with getting set up with an account, and offer
assistance with any questions or concerns

8. Course Offerings
Taught SLS 101 in Principles of Marketing Class
• 39 students competed the course
Students completed several Trailhead Modules before the course
• Career Exploration
• Introduction to Salesforce

Students assigned to the Business Analytics Lab
• Student Lab assistants are trained and continuously increase on their credentials on Trailhead
• Assist students that are looking to get started on the platform.
• Increased engagement at events due to their attendance and speaking to other students to increase their
interest.
Salesforce Ambassador Group
• Organized student group led by MTSM student leaders and Salesforce team
• Host events that will be beneficial to students

11. William decided to become a Business Analytics Lab Monitor because he has recently
become very interested in the Salesforce platform. By being able to assist in the lab, he is
able to not only sharpen his own skills with Salesforce, but also help others who are just
getting started.
