The future of the auto service experienceTim Jones
This is an initial view that brings together a number of different perspectives on the future of car servicing being driven by potential changes within the sector, in adjacent arenas and beyond. Having gained some feedback and opinion from around the world on which of these shifts will have greatest impact, which will happen first and what is missing from this view we have added in some potential future scenarios for how the future shifts could change customer experiences and business models for dealers and workshops. Further comments on these thoughts are welcome and will be shared in a few weeks time
As with all futureagenda projects, the outputs will be openly shared for all to use as sources of insight and stimulus for innovation, strategy challenge and wider engagement.

January 2016: Oregon Clean Fuels Program, Jordan Ramer of EV Connect Forth
Charging station network operator EV Connect presented at our January 2016 event on the Oregon Clean Fuels Program. Today, lighting control systems are no longer simply a platform for management of public lighting assets. They are a gateway to enable sensors and data analytics and additional value to flow from these assets. As an example, sensor-enabled luminaires can monitor and report on traffic data as well as air quality information, to help better inform our traffic services, city planners, and engaged citizens. Further to this, new technologies and approaches to communications makes realizing and analysing sensor data easier and less complex than ever.
This webinar discusses these topics and more, to help inform about opportunities to enable smart sensors in your city.
Speaker: Adam Chaffey, P.Phys, Technical Director, Smart City Lighting Products at Liveable Cities.

These slides use concepts from my (Jeff Funk) course entitled Biz Models for Hi-Tech Products to analyze the business model for PlugSurfing. PlugSurfing is creating a global network of EV charging stations that can be used with a single account thus eliminating the need for multiple passwords, credit cards, and other identifiers. It had created a network of 25,000 charging points by January 2016, mostly in Germany and the Netherlands. It already has a density of 17 charging points per square kilometer in central cities and 4 per square kilometer in suburbs. It has also begun expanding into France, Italy, and Belgium. The slides summarize the business model for PlugSurfing including the value proposition, customers, method of value capture, scope of activities, and method of strategic control.
