Százhalombatta has a history dating back over 4,000 years when Bronze Age settlers were drawn to the area due to its excellent geographical location. In the Roman era, auxiliary troops established a military camp called Matrica that developed stone infrastructure like drainage, baths, and roads. By the early 20th century, Százhalombatta had grown to include a Catholic church, school, railway system, and industry. Today, points of interest include Saint Stephen Square, the Reformat Church designed by a renowned architect, the Roman Catholic Church of Saint Stephen with an organic style, and the Matrica Museum that details the area's several-thousand-year history.
