Auxin and Cytokinin Cross-talk at the Level of Gene Expression in Arabidopsis...
This study examines the interaction between the plant hormones auxin and cytokinin in Arabidopsis thaliana. The researchers used mutant plant lines with decreased cytokinin signaling ability due to knockout mutations in cytokinin response genes. They analyzed the expression of auxin reporter genes DR5:GFP and DR5:GUS in the mutant lines. They found that decreased cytokinin signaling results in redistribution of auxin activity, particularly in vascular tissue and epidermal regions. Their results indicate that cytokinin plays an important role in regulating auxin activity in root meristems, and that the DR5 reporter element, which was designed to respond to auxin, is also activated by cytokinin.
