If someone has been rescued from drowning, lay them down with their head lower than their body to drain water from their mouth and reduce inhaling water. Treat for hypothermia by replacing wet clothes with dry clothes and blankets. Monitor their vital signs and breathing until emergency services arrive, as water in the lungs can cause irritation. Call for emergency help immediately.

2. Treatment for drowning
● If you have rescued a person from the water, you should help
them to lie down on a rug or coat with their head lower than
their body so that water can drain from their mouth. This
position will help to reduce the risk of a casualty inhaling water.
● You should treat the person for hypothermia (replace wet
clothing with dry ; cover them with blankets or coats. If they are
conscious, give them a hot drink).
● Call 999 / 112.
● You should monitor and record their vital signs. Water in the
lungs or air passages can cause irritation. You must continue to
monitor the person until medical help arrives
