Crafting an essay on the topic of "Hooks for Essays Examples" can be a challenging endeavor.
The difficulty arises from the need to strike a balance between creativity and informativeness. A
successful essay on this subject requires not only a deep understanding of various types of essay
hooks but also the ability to communicate this knowledge effectively.
To begin with, researching and gathering a diverse range of examples is essential. This involves
delving into the vast world of literature, academic writings, and real-world instances where
effective hooks have been employed. Selecting relevant and compelling examples to illustrate
the different types of hooks adds an additional layer of complexity to the process.
Moreover, constructing a coherent and engaging narrative that seamlessly integrates these
examples is no small feat. A well-structured essay demands a clear introduction, body paragraphs
that explore various types of hooks, and a conclusion that ties everything together. Crafting
smooth transitions between these sections while maintaining the reader's interest requires a keen
sense of organization and writing proficiency.
Additionally, the challenge lies in the uniqueness of the essay. Striving to present information in
a way that is not only informative but also original can be daunting. Avoiding clichГ©s and

Diphenhydramine Research Paper
INTRODUCTION Diphenhydramine (DPH) is a well known first generation
histamine H1 receptor antagonist, commonly used in humans allergic diseases
treatments. Its usefulness is principally related with a decrease of histamine effect
produced during the hypersensibility reaction. In addition to this effect, DPH has
others molecular targets as muscarinic receptors, this fact explains most of its side
effects. In particular, we found that, in 2004, Jangi et al. have clearly demonstrated
that DPH induces a relevant apoptotic effect on leukemic Jurkat T cells, and later
extended to other malignant cell lines . The authors showed that DPH, in higher
doses of its antihistaminic effect, produces.................while it does not affect the
survival of normal T... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This fact leads to acidic species overproduction and therefore a strong need of
proton extrusion in order to avoid intracellular acidification. On the same line
several proton transporters were found overexpressed in tumor cells and they have
been a matter of study in the recent years. MCT, NHE, CA, NBC and V ATPase are
the structures that more captured the attention in this field. However Hv1 channel
has a powerful capacity for proton extrusion; and the important thing is that, as it
is a passive transport pathway, it does it for nothing. Recently our group showed in
Jurkat cells that Hv1 channel is indispensable for pHi regulation as its inhibition,
by Zn2+ or the blocker Cl GBI, induces an immediate drop in basal pHi (within 20
min) in addition to a significative/profound impairment of the capacity for restoring
intracellular pH after heavy acid loads. Moreover in culture conditions
acidification upon channel blockade progress to values below 6.8 and
consecuently tiggering apoptosis in this cells. Taken all together, we hypothesize
that, if DPH is able to inhibit Hv1 in Jurkat T cells, likewise it do in microglial
cells, it could induce acidification as an early event in its, previously demonstrated,
pro apoptotic effect (cita). In this work we present electrophysiological data showing
the effect of DPH on Jurkat T cells and its effect on intracellular
The Freedom Of Travelling On Horseback
To Arthur there was nothing like the freedom of travelling on horseback. The few
times when he sat in the car and watched Merlin steer their way across the
countryside along the roads it felt unsatisfying to him. The world passed by the
windows too fast for Arthur to take in his new surroundings. He needed to feel the
elements around him, like the sun on his face or the wind blowing into his hair as
it did today. Here in the wide open air it smelled like humid soil, grass and flowers.
That was far better to him then the confined feel and the awful smell of the car. Not
to mention that he still did not trust the machine. It had the power to kill as far as
he was concerned, and it put the fear in him. For some reason he could not get
passed the image of how close he came losing Gwaine to one... Arthur steered his
horse through known territory as fast as he dared. The thrilling gallop made him
feel alive again. In the last few hours he had felt more like his old self than ever
since he came to this century. This century... it still stunned him that so much time
had passed in a matter of what felt like days to him. The way Camelot got snapped
away from him in a blip of time made him feel as if part of his heart was ripped out.
For his entire life he had known nothing else than it. He fought for his people and
protected it with every fibre of his being. To be left without such a cause and without
the love of his people, including his friends, was just too much to bear at times.
What Is Prospero In The Tempest
In Shakespeare s Tempest, Prospero is in complete control of his life and the lives
of those around him. With the help of his spirit Ariel, he bends the weather and the
minds of others in order to produce the exact chain of events that will bring his
family back into power after his brother usurped his dukedom. From the beginning
of the play, he has a fairly accurate idea of what will happen and informs the reader
of his plans as the play progresses. However, one detail that Prospero fails to
mention is what the last third of his life consists of. Prospero reveals that one third
of his life is his daughter Miranda while another third is thoughts of his death. The
last third is not mentioned which leaves the reader guessing as to what Prospero
deems to be as significant in his life as his daughter and his death. With his
dukedom restored, his enemies at his mercy, and possession of his magic books,
the last third of his life is anything but predictable. Despite his large reliance on
magic, it seems that the rest of Prospero s life is concerned with his ultimate goal of
pleasing others. First, one should establish the scope of the first two thirds that
Prospero mentions. In act 4, scene 1, Prospero has given Ferdinand his daughter
Miranda in marriage. In doing so... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He specifically states that his daughter and death are two thirds of his life. The last
third is concerned with pleasing others as seen through the forgiving of his brother
and giving his daughter to Ferdinand. These thirds of his life were actually
controlling him throughout the play by influencing his actions. The elaborate plan
he devises has the sole purposes of ensuring a good life for his daughter and
pleasing others before he dies. Perhaps Shakespeare is using Prospero to suggest that
life truly consists of only the things that inspire us to act as Prospero breaks his life
up into the aspects which make him
Film Analysis
The genre the film was originally intended to be was horror. But after filming and
the editing process started we decided to change the film to a mystery film with a
little bit of action in it. The action comes from the gun shot in the last scene.
When we decided which of our story ideas or film ideas that we would film, we chose
my film idea. This was because the idea we ended up going with was the most
practical and had the least number of props needed for the production of the film.
Deciding which shots to use was great because when we got to filming we could
change it if it didn t look as good in reality as it did in our heads. During planning,
we planned to use a range of different shots, from extra long shots to establish the
scene ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If we had more time and a proper budget, then editing would have been done at a lot
higher quality and had more access to locations then the film would have appeared
nicer and longer to watch. This would have made the film much more enjoyable and
appealing to the audience.
Inputs:
The film was not completed to the best standard, mostly because of the resources we
had available. Using the resources available we were able to complete our project
adequately.
We had 3 different actors throughout the whole project: Cooper, Kyle and me,
Aaron. We were not professional actors. Eric was the cameraman. I was the editor.
And Eric and I was the directors. We also had Daulton and Zach to support us during
the filming of the lab scenes.
The software used to prepare for the film and create the script and storyboards was
Microsoft Word. The story boards were created using a website called Storyboard
That. The story boards were created on the website then put onto a Word Document
with all the camera angles, shot types, dialogue and a short description about what
happens in the scene. The editing software used to edit the film was Adobe
Premiere Pro. I had access to Adobe Premier Pro so I decided to use instead of
Pinnacle Studios that was preinstalled on our laptop because Premier Pro is much
more powerful and would better suit our needs. I also used Adobe After Effects for
the News intro lower thirds and the credits. The technology used during production

Large Bathers
Art is always evolving with the people causing the styles and technique. In the 1900s
style of paintings started to change dramatically. The colors got brighter and the lines
became more curved, images started to become more abstract. This changed the
meaning of the paintings to be a more imaginative and creative. Cezanne and matisse
were to artists that painted in the 1900s and they changed with the times. The two
paintings The Large Bathers and The Joy of Life are different but also have some
similarities.
In The Large Bathers the colors are dark, they are sitting around a pond, and it is a
large group. Since the colors are very dark and cold it makes the people seem
distant. This makes the people go away from us and the blues to stand out. All of the
people are sitting around a pond washing cloths. This gives the image a focal point in
the center of the painting. It draws your attention to what the people are doing and
how they are interacting with each other. The emotions on the peoples faces are
very sad and not upbeat, they do not seem to be having fun and enjoying their time.
All of the people in the painting are with each other in a clump. No people are away
from the group and they are all focused in on what the two people in the center are
doing which seems to be washing cloths. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The image has bright colors such as red, orange, and greens that jump out at you
and make you feel like you are right next to the image. In the painting the people
are found in pairs or a small group. This makes them look happy and seem pleased
with one another. There is even a small group in the back that is dancing around
hand in hand. The people have an auras around them that are green showing love
and happiness. All of the people and engaged with one another and have a happy
look on their face that life is
Unit 1 Parachute Investigation
Stage 1 Physics investigation Parachute Investigation
The purpose of this assignment is to work out a parachute design and investigate
parachute s drop time. Parachutes are designed to fall slowly so that the person can
land safely to the ground, as shown in figure 1. Parachutes are big, but not heavy and
have a larger surface area for air resistance like traps the air from escaping out of it.
This is because the air pushes the parachute back up, but the force of gravity pulls the
parachute to the earth.
Figure 1 In figure 1, the force of the gravity is pulling the person and the parachute
towards the ground because gravitational force makes the object fall quickly.
However, the parachute slows the person down because it causes air resistance as it
pushes the parachute back up and creates an opposite gravitational force. The forces
push or a pull are called action and reaction forces, the subject of newton s third law.
During this investigation, the push force is the air resistance and opposite (pull)
force is the gravity.
It is predicted that four sided parachute will take more time to reach the ground
because the larger the surface area, more air particles hit/collide with the parachute,
as shown in diagram 2. Nevertheless, the smaller the surface area of the parachute,
fewer air particles collide and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This means that parachute took 8.08 seconds longer than the eraser s drop time
without the parachute. This means that weight and the size affect the parachute s
drop time because weight causes the whole parachute to accelerate as it gains
speed and encounters an increasing amount of opposing upward air resistance
force. For example; the first parachute we made was really big and had more
surface area, but it did not work due to less air resistance. However, the second
parachute worked well, but it did not fell straight
My Volunteer Service At Fallbrook Church
Leadership is both a research area and a practical skill, regarding the ability of an
individual or an organization to lead or guide other individuals, teams, or entire
organizations. Leadership cannot be defined by just one word, but by action. I have
seen development within myself through my volunteer service. Leadershipis both a
research area and a practical opportunity to share the ability gained as an
individual, also through my organizations to lead or guide other individual team
members who have a common goal. Volunteering in the church organizations
matches my need to be of service to others. While volunteer at Fallbrook church I
in return have been served I have been guided, nurtured, and challenge through the
process. I have been able to utilize skills acquired throughout this year that enhance
my volunteer service. I have been able to challenge the process, inspire shared
vision and model the way through the course of a year. I have been mentored and
taught moral, values and standard through weekly Bible studies. I ve been able to

The Importance Of Employment At Will
Employment at will gives employers the freedom to fire employees who have gone
contrary to the company policies, rules and regulations regarding the companies
operations without a due cause to showcase why their employment should not be
terminated. This means that once an employee is caught in the wrong and the
managementfeels that their cause of action was illegal and contrary to employment
rules and guidelines then they can fire them without any formal notice leading to that
action. The employees are usually at the mercy of the company s administration
unless they have a contract which defines their rights and the limits that an employer
should take in any disciplinary proceedings. Every state in the United States has got

Under such exceptions, the COO can fire John for gross misconduct to avoid losing
the primary client who may be an important factor in the IPO. This will limit the
liability and impact on the operations because the organization will have acted firmly
to the interest of the client and the general public by restoring the faith and
commitment of the new administration. Further to firing John, the company should
use any legal means available to compel John to delete that post from his Facebook
wall to mitigate any further damage it may have caused. The COO would have acted
on the deontology ethic which guides a decision maker to do what is good and right
in accordance with the obligations and duties which they are engaged in.

The COO when faced with this incidence should first summon the employee and

This is because the company can not be viewed as ignoring the views of the
employees which may be right and the decisions which they made would have been
for the good of the company. Under such an incidence the

Human Relations and Education Essay examples
Human relations cover a multitude of interpersonal interaction. Human Relations can
be seen in education through group development and the resulting interpersonal
interaction. The Thread That Runs So True and Stand and Deliver, are both good
illustrations of this development and interaction. The teachers and/or students are
interacting with the administration, peers, and parents in both of these stories. The
ability to effectively communicate is the most important aspectof human relations.
Without the ability to effectively communicate, there would be no human relations or
less than satisfactorily relations. Effective interpersonal communicationcan be divided
into five main concepts. The following will focus on these five main concepts... Show

Escalante also came from the same culture as the students he taught this made him
more able to relate to their struggles and triumphs. Both men taught that though
necessary it was short sighted to concentrate on survival through any means. They
both believed that long term survival and prosperity required short term sacrifice.
They were able to communicate this by knowing themselves.
Another aspect that is separate, but ties into awareness of self is an awareness of
other. In human relations a person has to try and understand where the other person is
coming from. One way of accomplishing this is through being a good listener.
Empathy and understanding are also another factor in understanding another s reality.
Both teachers being from the same culture had a good understanding of their
students. From this understanding of others, they were able to motivate their students
to learn. Stuart illustrates this through his thread that runs so true concept, the work,
play and learn through doing. Escalante illustrates this through practical application
and his slogans. Another concept in knowing others is not to make assumptions.
Though Escalante and Stuart were both guilty of this at times, they continued to
questions their students on where they were at both personally and academically.
The third concept in human relations and the ability to effectively communicate can
be found in a belief in the worth of self and other.

In the bible it tells us this, When man began to multiply on the face of the land and
daughters were born to them, the sons of God saw that the daughters of man were
attractive. And they took as their wives any they chose. Then the Lord said, My
Spirit shall not abide in man forever, for he is flesh: his days shall be 120 years.
The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of
God came in to the daughters of man and they bore children to them. These were
the mighty men who were of old, the men of renown (Genesis,6). This is where the
Lord talks about the Nephilim, they were hybrids, half human and half demon.
When Satan was casted down to Earth, his followers were thrown down with him.
They then mixed their DNA with the DNA of a human, creating what is known as
the Nephilim. And there was again war at Gath, where there was a man of great
stature, who had six fingers on each hand, and six toes on each foot, twenty four in
number, and he also was descended from the giants (2 Samuel,21:20). This is where
we see great strength of this beings. In addition, I strongly feel that aliens are in fact,
fallen angles and demons. Given the writings of the most important book on the face
of the Earth, God tells us that there are mixed DNA strands that make people stronger
and obtain more knowledge. Furthermore, my research as a Christian, has been a
tough road. As human beings we
Literary Elements In The Black Cat
Spiraling down a deep, dark, downward vortex of mystery, violence, and the
psychological standing of the human mind, is where poe takes us in his short story,
The Black Cat. The ominous mood and chilling tension overwhelms its audience.
What makes this such a captivating, compelling story? Edgar Allan Poe, a complex,
yet mocking and flashy writer uses a series of literary elements that aid him while
taking us through the journey of the trouble narrator in, The Black Cat. The ever
evolving tone throughout the story plays an enormous role in making this such an
amazing story. In the beginning paragraph, Poe s signature unreliable narrator starts
like a confessional. However, it is not long before the audiences sees the ironic
overtones and mockery. The narrator declares, i blush, i burn, shudder while i pen the
damnable atrocity. Here,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Immediately the audience is set with a feeling of shame and guilt. However, the
clause, while I pen, denotes that it is not his acts in which he feels are a damnable
atrocity, but what he s writing, the story itself, is the atrocity. (Perhaps, this is Poe
expressing a certain anxiety about his work as a writer and the writing process.)
Another example of this is that the narrator has used a pen knife to cut out the cat s
eye, there is some mockery. a pen knife is used to sharpen the quill of a pen. Here
he is symbolically sharpening Pluto s eye with the knife. Pluto then learns to see that
his once beloved master has evolved into a cruel and violent monster. As Pluto
experiences a change of vision, so

Care team communication
It is imperative that all members of the care team are able to quickly and accurately
communicate the patients condition and needs to other members of the care team.
Proper communication allows for better monitoring of the patients condition and
allows the providers and pharmacists to more accurately assess the patients treatment
needs. The implementation of electronic medical records (EMR), as Nightingale
Hospital is currently researching, has been shown to greatly improve care team
communication and patient outcomes by allowing easy, verifiable access to all the
patients records. Implementation of an EMR system will provide a necessary
foundation for a great improvement in staff and provider communication, resulting in
improved outcomes for all patients, including those undergoing anticoagulation
therapy. Specifically regarding anticoagulation therapy, EMR will allow other care
team members, including other nurses, providers and pharmacists one place to look
for patient histories, allergies, lab and other results and monitor, potential drug
interactions and adjust medication levels with regard to patient specific needs. EMR
will also allow for more accurate medication administration through
Capital Punishment And The Death Penalty Essay
Capital punishment, or the death penalty, is the lawful infliction of death as a
punishment. (thefreedictionary.com). The topic is quite controversial, as its merits
and effectiveness as a deterrent for crime have been argued many times over.
However, the death penalty is perfectly within reason, as it rids the streets of
criminals that have committed serious crimes and is also cheaper for the
government versus giving life sentences. Even so, there are many who are against
the death penalty. One such argument that has been made is that the death penalty is
barbaric because many innocents have been sent to their deaths. Although this
would be true if these opposers lived before 1986, that is not the case in today s
world because there is access to DNAtests and profiling. According to
www.interpol.int, Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) molecules contain the information
all living cells in the human body need to function. They also control the inheritance
of characteristics from parents to offspring. (interpol.int). DNA profiling play
important roles in crimes as it has the potential to link a series of crimes and to
place a suspect at the scene of a crime. Not only that, but also DNA can help to
prove a suspect s innocence. With DNA testing, no innocent person will die from the
death penalty simply because DNA tests can be used as concrete evidence to prove
the suspect s innocence.
To start off, one should know what exactly DNA profiling is and its use for
prosecution.

Bible Story Of Esther Essay
My favorite Bible story is the story of Esther, her love for God, and her frog age

loyal character Satan has always tried to stop the plans of God, destroy God s
people, the Jews, the church, and Christ Himself but God has always thwarted his

Easter is an important link to show the re establishment of the Hebrew nation in
preparation for the coming of the Messiah God had preserved them from

wife of a Persian king called Ahasverus. The king did not know that Esther was

Ahasverus that the Jewswere bad and must be killed. But Esther found out about the
plot and told her cousin Mordechai about it. Mordechai helped to come up with a
cunning plan to stop the plot. The conflicts develops when Esther followed the plan
which meant that she had to risk her own life to save her people. Thanks to Esther s
braveness and trust in God, the plan was successful. In the end it is Haman and his
sons who get killed, not the Jews. Esther told the King that she was Jewish but he did

Religion And Religion Essay
Religion is universal. Although people may have different ideologies and practices,
everyone believes in something, whether they deem it their religion or not. In this
way, religion is a powerful connection between all of humanity; thus, it is important
to understand the people behind religion and how their unique characteristics
correlates with and influences religionwhether that be their social class, ethnicity,
gender, or politics. However, ethnicity and gender, along with the closely linked
topics of sexuality and politics, are the most significant concepts to understand
religion in our modern world. To begin, we should understand the concept of
ethnicity, as well as why I believe ethnicity and gender are important to discuss...

This can create fractures within society and religion as these groups attempt to
reconcile their culture with socially accepted beliefs, as well as decide which of
those beliefs they should reject. This fracture and the long term effects of the
connection between ethnicity and religion can be seen in many religions histories,
for example, Catholicism.
As Christiano discusses, xenophobia and anti Catholicism became tangled as Irish
Catholics immigrated to the U.S. in the nineteenth century. As the Irish became the
majority of the Catholic population, they had to contend with other ethnic Catholics,
as well as contend with the dominant Protestantism (Christiano 162 63). While
nativist hostility to Catholic immigrants continued, Irish immigrants turned in toward
themselves, rejecting the Protestant Americanism of public schools and creating
parochial schools instead to preserve their religion and culture (Christiano 164).
Unfortunately, the continued anti immigration sentiment took part in producing
groups such as the American Patriotic League and the Ku Klux Klan, as well as
creating the Immigration and Naturalization Act, which ended mass immigration for
the next four years (Christiano 164). As we can see,
Colony Collapse Disorder Research Paper
Colony Collapse Disorder happens when the working honey bees disappear and
abandon the queen, plenty of foods, and the few nurse honey bee alone to take care
of the queen. This can cause many colonies of honey bees could not survive through
the winter because lack of healthy honey bees in the hive. This has happened in the
past eight years. The huge number of the death of honey bees cause the decreases of
the U.S. Agriculture profit since the honey bees are the best pollinators. The cause of
the Colony Collapse Disorder probable because of parasites and pathogens, pollution
and climate change, and genetically modified foods. Scientists and researchers think
that one of the causes that kill the honey bees is parasites. The parasites that are...

NOx gases produced from the diesel combustion. This gases may cause cancer for
human. The researchers has been testing the honey bees by mixing NOx gases and
the odor of oil rapeseed flower. Most of the honey bees can sense the odor.
However, when the researchers take away the odor of oil rapeseed flower and
NOx gasses, the honey bees cannot remember the scent. This becomes a huge
problem for honey bees. Since the honey bees use the odor of flower to help
locate, identify, and recognize the flowers. The researchers believe that NOx gases
can alter the sense of the honey bees. The colony of the honey bees decreases sixty
percent in the United States. The weather has a huge impact on honey bees. If the
honey bees come out in the wrong time, it is really bad for them and they could
died easily. One reason that cause the death of the honey bees during the spring is
starvation. Climate change can cause the time disruption of the plant flowering and
bee emergence. When the honey bees born early and the plants have not bloom yet,
the honey bees will in trouble because they starve into death. And if the bees born
late and the plants bloom early, the bee and plants will get in trouble because there
are no pollinators to pollinate the flowers. To solve the problem of pollution and
climate change we should do more recycles, eliminate burning coals, decreases the
use of transportations, stop cutting down trees instead of growing trees and and use

IPL
The Indian Premier League (often abbreviated as IPL) is a professional league for
Twenty20 cricket competition in India. It was initiated by the Board of Control for
Cricket in India (BCCI) headquartered in Mumbai supervised by BCCI Vice President
Chirayu Amin, current chairman commissioner of IPL, and CEO, Sundar Raman. It
currently contested by 10 teams (franchises) consisting of players from different
countries. It was started after an altercation between the BCCI and the Indian Cricket
League.[5]
In 2010, IPL became the first sporting event ever to be broadcast live on YouTube.[6]
Its brand value was estimated to be around $4.13 billion the same year.[7][8]
According to global sports salaries review, IPL is the second highest paid league,
based on first team salaries on a pro rata basis, second only to the NBA. It is
estimated that the average salary of an IPL player over a year would be $3.84
million. The brand value of Chennai Super Kings (winner IPL 2010, finalist IPL 2008
and semi finalist IPL 2009) is estimated at USD 48.4 Million

Live Electronics Essay
1.1Research Goal The object of the proposed research is to build an authoring
system for performance of live electronics which will simplify the compositional
workflow, easy the performance and ensure the preservation. The main idea is to
extend Common Western Music Notation(CWMN) to the field of algorithmic
thinking as a method for creating an abstract and cohesive representation of the
underlying logic and instrumental parts for the live electronics genre. Along with
this new notation, it is necessary to develop an authoring/performance technology
environment which will enable us to represent and execute the logical layer of the
piece and composing a series of live electronic pieces as a means for exploring,

Thus, the introduction of any new notational mechanisms must be designed as an
organic whole about the traditional interpretation of signs and symbols regarding
music semiotics. However, it is important to note here, that the scope of this goal
is constrained to the semantics domain, as in broad sense the re interpretation of a
musical score as a logical descriptor is radical in nature. The choose of CWMN as
main descriptor of music related events is justified for the fact that CWMN is still
in wide sue among the composer community, Kurt Stone wrote regarding this fact
[Stone, 1980]. In spite of the new notational signs generated since early 1950s, a
major part of our era s music, whether serious or not, has been, still is, and probably
will continue to be written either entirely by means of traditional notation or with a
mixture of old and new signs and procedures. A second important aspect relates to a
practical performance aspect. In Western Music, staff notation plays an active role in
the pursuit of communicating a complex musical idea created by the composer
during the live performance. All relevant performance information is carefully
detailed in the score parts, so the score plays two roles in the communication system,
a passive role
Fingerprints Essay
Fingerprinting is used for many things, such as a robbery, or at a crime scene.
Fingerprints were first discovered in 1870 by Alphonse Bertillon, who was a French
anthropologist. In 1892, Juan Vucetich had made the first criminal report using a
fingerprint. In 1905 America used fingerprints for identification. When America
started using fingerprints for identification they had to match the fingerprints
manually when needed. When technology was able to enter fingerprints, and match
them with anonymous ones, it helped identification immensely. Fingerprints are
formed during the first, third to fourth months of fetal development. While growing

Then we will use the tape to lift the print from the object. Humans are not the only
living creatures that have fingerprints. Primates have fingerprints too. The Koala has
fingerprints that are very similar to fingerprints from a human, that it is hard to tell

has hands and feet that are very similar to a humans, and ridges on them that allow
them to lift and grab things. There are different types of patterns for fingerprints,
there are Arches, Loops, and Whorls. An Arch is found in five percent of fingerprints

Therefore they are the rarest. Loops are found in sixty to seventy percent of
fingerprints encountered. Therefore they are the most common. Whorls are found in
twenty five to thirty five percent of fingerprints encountered. There are four types of

Accidental Whorl. When someone is arrested, they must be fingerprinted even drunk

Critique for Logic Argument
In the music philosophy paper I wrote, I was in a bystander position that I was
uninvolved non participant observer. I supported the statements with evidences and
therefore stating facts. The evidences in the essay were deductive. In the essay, I
assumed that praxialism is the most appropriate philosophy for music education in the
present day. Praxialism, in a musical context, is to listen and perform the work in
order to provide a productive activity for life, which means one must understand
theory through listening and participating in the making of music (musicing.) Elliott
believed that there are three dimensions in music: musicer, music, and musicing. The
musicer is the person who makes music;
The Inborn Names Of The Morongo Reservation
Set at the extremity of the striking San Gorgonio and San Jacinto Mountains, the
Morongo Indian Reservation extends more than 35,000 acres and overlooks the
desert vistas of the Banning Pass. Wild buckwheat, mesquite and chaparral still
flourish here, and the ubiquitous breeze ensures that the air is always fresh and clear.
One of the inborn names of the Morongo Reservation was Malki, and it was located
in what was once called the Wanikik territory. In the mid 19th century, the Serrano
people to the north began journeying to the Malki settlement. They brought with them
the Morongo name derivative from the Serrano name for their people, Maringayam.
Since the late 19th century, the Morongo Reservation has been tenanted by a mix of
Cahuilla, Serrano, Luiseno and Cupeno people.
Irrepressible and ingenious, the Morongo tribe has overcome many hardships. The
Morongo Reservation was one of nine small reservations set aside by President
Grant by Executive Order in 1865. The lands taken into trust by the federal
government did not include land with access to surface water. Accordingly, tribal
members had to travel miles each day just to acquire water and to forage for food.
Through their industriousness and capability to survive in an unstable physical and
political environment, the Morongo tribe began a small bingo venture in 1983.
On February 25, 1987, the U.S. Supreme Court decided that neither the state of
California nor Riverside County could control the bingo and card

Mark Ryden was born in Medford Oregon. He received a BFA in 1987 from Art
Center College of Design in Pasadena. His studio, situated in Los Angeles, is a
treasure trove of bric a brac collected from flea markets and op shops; endless
amounts of toys, religious statues, dolls, antiques and many items described only as

They may be border in thick, Reich frames, and always have a smooth, finished

painted by classicist artists. It is this connection to history which again reflects a
person s comfort with the known and familiar, and turns it into something confronting
by pulling it from its original context.
Common presence of Religious icons brings a whole new meaning to each painting
as the watchful eyes of a Roman classicist image of Jesus observe the image and the
audience, indicating a judgment on moral conduct or a reflection on people s own
actions. Ryden s works are often a social commentary (rather than attack or opinion)
presented through the curious children s world, which is both dreamlike and
nightmarish.
His works are a challenge to modern and В‘mature thinking; when humanity used to
connect through myths and legends, now they believe through logic and fact.
Unlike much of today s contemporary art, Ryden s work is easily accessible for the
audience by the familiar symbols of toys and religious icons, contextualized into a
surrealist and dreamlike world. The difference, however, is that Ryden consciously
makes the decisions of what is to be part of his artwork.
Another, of the more curious symbols in Ryden s work, is meat. Internal organs,
The Things They Carried By Wilfred Owen And The
Vietnam War
War is a terrible event. When it ignites, it is like an unquenchable fire consuming
the countries involved and the people who fight for them. Everyone is affected in
some way. The men will go off to fight for their country. The women are constantly
worried about their loved one s whereabouts and the children constantly miss their
fathers. The elderly are also affected they see their sons coming home in body bags,
in some instances for a fight that is not their own. And then there are the soldiers and
how they have been negatively affected by living through it. Respectively, the two
literary works that were written by former soldiers of World War 1 and the Vietnam
War include the poem Dulce et Decorum Estby Wilfred Owen and the short story
The Things They Carried by Tim O Brien came as a result of the authors personal
backgrounds relating to war, the effect of the technology of that time period, and
their mentality of perceiving war. Wilfred Owen was born in Oswestry, Shropshire,
England, on March 18, 1893. His family often moved around, but after being placed
in Birkenhead Institute his intelligence attracted a teacher who encouraged Owen to
indulge as much time as he had into literature. From then on he continued to write. In
his early years, he wrote about politics and art, however, upon graduating from
London University he was still confused about what he wanted to do with his life.
The patriotic nationalism was at its exciting peak in England at this point, and
Tough Questions
First, I noticed a Tough Question on page 104. Archie said (to Leo), Whose
affection do you value more hers or the others? This is a Tough Question because
Leo was having a hard time with affection with Star Girl and the other MAHS
students, since the time he was shunned. He also later talked to Star Girl about this
for some more help, and to see what she thinks about it. This question makes me
wonder about why does Leo care about the other s attention, when Star Girl already
makes him happy? Secondly, I noticed an Aha Moment in chapter 22. This is when
Leo is told that in Star Girl s happy wagon and he realizes that Star Girl has been
affected by the bad things that has happened to her. He realized that because Star Girl

Analysis Of George Herbert s Easter Wings
George Herbert s Easter Wings uniquely depicts the downward spiral of human life.
Through his words and physical structure of the poem Easter Wings , tells a story
full of imagery. The two stanza poem goes back and forth between desperation and
optimism. The poem begins with Adam, who was first created with prosperity, then
foolishly became poor after Adam and Evedecided to eat the forbidden fruit. The
reader notices that after falling into temptation, Adam begins to suffer after he has
sinned. Adam s mindless behavior to disobey God has caused Herbert to also
become substandard, and all of humankind to suffer. Making this connection,
Herbert begins to explain that he will one day rise above his sin and his struggles
will help him grow in life. As it seems life couldn t get any worse at the beginning of
the stanza, Herbert turns the mood of the poem around and shines a positive light in
the second half of each stanza. The speaker explains how he was rightfully punished
by God for the sin he has committed. He closes the second stanza on a positive note.
It becomes clear that no matter how hard the trials he goes through, the pain he
suffers in hardship will further him. Themes of religion and sin flourish throughout
the poem as Herbert describes his life.
Religion and sin are the main themes of this poem. The title of the poem symbolizes
religion because of Easter. This holiday is very important to the Christian religion
because it is a holiday that celebrates Jesus
Bamboo Japanese Steakhouse Business Analysis
The Bamboo Japanese Steakhouse is a locally owned sushi and hibachi restaurant

During The Romantic Era, Civil Rights Movements Began
To
During the Romantic Era, civil rights movements began to gain strength. Through
various methods, advocates of such causes garnered support and brought attention to
perceived problems in the status of various peoples. Poetry was one of these
methods, but the specifics of its implementation, from appeals to literary devices,
varied. Washing Day by Anna Lutita Barbauld used emotions and imagery to support
women s rights, but The Negro s Complaint, an abolitionist poem by Cowper,
focused on ethics to sway its readers.
The purpose of Washing Day is evident by the first stanza; Barbauld indicates that the
poem focuses on the struggles wives face during washing day with the lines Come,

In the same manner as the rain, the husbands are portrayed as major inconveniences
worsening an already miserable day. The narrator describes the women s
apprehension of their husbands coming with more demands such as sewing their
stockings to accomplish this (Barbauld 33 40). With these descriptions, Barbauld
paints the men as one of the causes of the wives sadness.
In the later stanzas of the poem, the narrator switches to her own perspective as a
child watching the women go through the motions of washing day. Her naivety and
ignorance strengthen Barbauld s emotional appeal by providing a contrast to
earlier descriptions of the wives view, but this perspective s odd similarity to the
men s own makes the strongest impact on the reader. As the women worked, the
narrator sought affection and food as she would on any other day; she didn t
understand why her mother and the other women brushed her aside in favor of
working (Barbauld 58 65). Since she was a child, to her, the day was the same as
any other. As she listened to her mother urge haste in the chores, she wondered as
to the purpose of washing day (Barbauld 74 79). The ending lines capture the
purpose of these stanzas: The sports of children and the toils of men/ Earth, air,
and sky, and ocean, hath its bubbles/ And verse is one of them this most of all
(Barbauld 84 86). Per these lines, everything from the works of men to the play of
children seems to have value, but the labor of women doesn t in the
Tattoo History
The beginning of the modern history of the tattoo can be dated back to 1769, when
the term tattoo was first introduced into the English language. British explorer,
Captain James Cook, had traveled to Polynesia and observed Tahitians practicing
tattowing. In his account, the men and women of Tahiti painted their bodies by
imbedding black color under their skin, in such a manner as to be indelible...

Most prospective tattoo artists learn through first hand experience by an
apprenticeship at a specific shop. They often begin tattooing simple flash designs
and progressively develop their artistic skills for more custom ones. Because these

of duality and complication that occurs surrounding the creativity of today s age. The
tradition has accepted and incorporated the ever changing icons and trends as time
continues to pass. However, at the same time originality and creativity also continue
to be a theme that is sought after. Even with the development of custom tattooing,
traditional themes are still prevalent in today s tattooing society. The modern and
popular interest in tattooing has attracted numerous artists, some of whom were

deal of sense to spend the little that we do if not more to keep them healthy

the nation s health care burden. They receive minimal care; some pay taxes.
Between one half and three quarters of undocumented immigrants pay taxes and

The Banking Concept Of Teaching By Paulo Freire
At one point in our lives we have dealt with a certain class that we just absolutely
detested and we have also experience a class we enjoyed. Many times I blamed my
dislike for a class on the subject or on the teacher;however, Paulo Freire describes the
styles that cause you to enjoy or hate a class. One method Freire discusses is the
banking concept saying, His task is to fill the student with the contents of his
narration contents which are detached from reality...Words are emptied of their
concreteness and become hollow, alienated, and alienating verbosity. The banking
concept of teaching involves the teacher playing the role of the master and the

1.ABOUT INTERNATIONAL TRADE.
How is it possible that I can go to a supermarket and buy products from Africa, Asia,
Latin America or from any other country? Today, this is possible thanks to
international trade.
International trade is a term referred to the exchange of goods and services across
international borders or, in other words, between different nations. In almost every
country, international trade represents a large share of the gross domestic product
(GDP).
Global trade allows people to experience or consume goods and services that are not
offered in their home countries. Foreign products like food, wine, clothes, currencies,
stocks, and so on can be found on the international market. Not only products are

Countries have been trading goods and services for at least, more than nine
thousand years despite the numerous issues that trading all over the world had by
then. Nowadays, international trade is recognised as one of the pillars in which
global economy is based on. International trade is directly responsible for most of the
evolution and the welfare of the modern and industrialised world in which we live.
Both goods and services are imported because of several reasons. Foreign goods
can be better, cheaper, easier to access or just more attractive than local products.
Normally the need of importing is motivated because there are no locally produced
goods that can act as an alternative product. This makes imports essential for the
growth of a country. A clear example of this urge of foreign produced goods is Japan.
They lack of oil reserves and are forced to import the 100% of the oil that they
consume.
The international trade brought specialisation and labour division alongside with
economic development for trading countries as noted by Adam Smith Men are much
more likely to discover easier methods when the whole attention of their mind is
directed towards that single object that when it is dissipated among a great variety of
things (The Wealth of Nations, 1776).

Qin Dynasty Imperialism
In the years following the Zhou leaders, the Qin dynasty rose to power, taking
control of the country and altering the manner in which it was ruled and which
people lived. During the Qin reign, mandatory service in the military was instated.
Once a boy was of age, he was required to serve in the military, pay land taxes and
perform a yearly labor service. Shang Yang, the emperor, divided his people into
groups. It was the responsibility of the groups to monitor each other and to turn in
those who failed to comply. If they opted to turn a blind eye, and were caught, the
entire group was punished. This method of ruling worked well. As an incentive for
the people to comply, the Qin rulers adopted legalism, which is a school of thought
that every person would have the same rights and opportunities, regardless of their
heredity. No longer were the children of the privileged given special treatment. Even

The Han s adopted the legalist government structure and allowed for some of the
land to be transferred back to deposed kings. While its power rose, the Han s began
to require their subjects revert to the teachings of Confucius and developed the
Imperial Academy. The academy s focus was to teach students the teachings and
Confucius and its popularity spread over the next century to include thousands of
students. Ban Zhao came to teach at the academy. She was known for teaching about
the role of women, both in the home and society. Parents of young girls sought to
send their children to her school and when women took power, they sought out Ban
as a member of their staff or a mentor. Ban was highly regarded by both men and
women and her teaching continued to be taught for centuries after her death. The
invention of paper was also a huge achievement at that same time and spread

Persuasive Essay About Buying A Car
In today s day and age of rapidly changing technology and ways of shopping,
preparing to buy a vehicle can be a daunting task. What app should I download?
Am I finding the best deals? Should I buy new or used? These are all very common
questions to most people when they are preparing to buy a vehicle. The
information is out there and attainable, you just have to know how to find it. Last
year I had the opportunity to buy a vehicle, but my father also wanted me to learn
about money in this process. I was very excited to get a new truck so he didn t have
to push very hard to get me to start looking, but he did give me some pointers along
the way.
Before I started looking at dealerships I researched heavily what vehicle I wanted.

Finally, I wanted my truck to look good. I wanted a grey or black truck with off road
tires and a leveling kit.
I shopped around using apps and websites like auto trader, cars.com, Edmunds, and
pretty much any other online resource I could find. I was trying to prevent going
to a dealership and paying more for a lesser truck than I could find on my own. I
knew if I was patient enough I would find the vehicle I wanted in my price range.
In fact, the only time I visited a dealership was to test drive a Tundra to make sure
it is what I wanted. I checked multiple apps every single day for months looking for
the perfect truck to come along at the right price. It seemed like I would never find
a vehicle that fit what I wanted and was in my price range. I was preparing to give
up one of my options to save money, but my father encouraged me to keep waiting.
He said eventually the right truck would come along. Finally, it did. I ended up
getting the exact vehicle I wanted: A 2015 Black Toyota Tundrawith a 5.7L V8
engine, Crew Cab, with four wheel drive and a leveling kit. Most of the trucks in
that category were way out of my budget, but this one was at a price that was 20
percent less than the list price on Kelly Blue Book. It may have been good luck, or
that someone typed in the wrong number online, or my patience.

The Study Of Psychology And Psychology
Firstly, it is important to know what is meant by the term science , and then to
establish whether psychology adheres to this. The Oxford English Dictionary
defines science as the study or knowledge of the physical world, based on
observation and experiment . This immediately raises issues about this debate as
many areas of psychological research do not involve the observable. For example,
the areas of Clinical and Counselling psychologyrely on a patient s thoughts and
feelings to help determine whether they suffer from a mental disorder. Owing to an
advancement in technology, however, phenomena that was once labelled as
unobservable can now be observed. One example of this includes emotions, including
happiness, sadness, disgust, fear,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This, however, should not be taken at face value as these bodies would not want to
portray themselves as being unscientific. Nevertheless, there is an overall positive
effect of the psychological bodies seeing themselves as scientific as empirical
research will be promoted further, making psychology as a subject more scientific.
Furthermore, psychology has become more scientific by the need to move away
from pseudo scientific perspectives. One such perspective, is Freud s Psychodynamic
approach. This focuses on the subconscious mind, and as this phenomena cannot be
observed, it has been argued that the Psychodynamic perspective is unfalsifiable and
untestable. Both of these elements are key parts of what makes a science. However,
others have argued that the Psychodynamic perspective is testable, but that it has just
failed those tests (Hansson, 2015). review
The Behavioural perspective was the first to try and move psychology as a subject
away from the unscientific by focusing on observable and measurable behaviour to
gain empirical evidence. Moreover, since the 1970s, the Biological perspective has
grown hugely with neuropsychology now being a dominant approach. This shows
that psychology has made a move to become more scientific in its approaches and
methods over time. review
It has been argued that demarcation should be unchanging throughout time. Dolby

Literature Review On Frozen Conflict
SISU 206 Literature Review
The topic I have decided to research is frozen conflict zones. Recently, the term
frozen conflict has become more relevant within international relations, and it is
used frequently when addressing conflicts within the former Soviet Union.
However, frozen conflicts is a term that is often used loosely and as a result there is
no way to categorize and define frozen conflict zones. Frozen conflicts are used to
describe conflicts that are not active and have yet to be resolved. But, why is this
term used only when discussing post soviet states? Why is this term not used to
describe similar conflicts such as Taiwan or Israel and Palestine? How can a conflict
be frozen if it is still creating global insecurities? I hope to answer all of these
questions within my research by using a variety of scholarly and professional sources.
Furthermore, I plan to create a set of criteria for defining for frozen conflict zones,
and as a result I will be able to look into the annexation of Crimea to determine if it
can be identified as a frozen conflict. I will inform my research through looking at
cases of current conflicts within Georgia, Russia, Azerbaijan, and Moldova.
An article titled Crimea and the Lessons of Frozen Conflicts by John Abrahamson,
focuses on Russia s involvement in the Crimean Peninsula . This interpretive source
argues that the Russian annexation of Crimea was a calculated move with the
Russian objective to undermine Pro western states within Russia s sphere of
influence. In the article, Abrahamson compares Russia s annexation of Crimea to
former Soviet States that poses several frozen conflicts. Abrahamson furthered his
argument by writing: ...Russia helps fracture local elites, prevent the emergence of
normal political systems, and encourage illicit activities . . . from the smuggling of
drugs and arms to nuclear proliferation1.
Another author, Dov Lynch, wrote an article that focused upon the efforts of the
Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and the European
Union (EU) to solve frozen conflicts . Lynch pushed upon the OSCE and EU to
change their conventional framework for how they approach frozen conflicts, and
Lynch created a list of issued that

Curfews, Bad or Good Idea?
Many people are against of the curfews and gives his opinions. The most part of the
persons that are in disagreement with this law are the teenagers. One of the reasons
they not want this law is because they feel that they not have freedom for go outside
in the night and they ot want that they want to feel that they are free. Another reason
they do not want the curfews is because they sometimes have importants things to do

As the writer puts it, curfews are one of many misguided anti crime strategies .
(474). Basically, the author is saying that the curfews make the criminal cases more
complicated. I agree that the curfews can make complicated the the criminal cases,
a point that needs emphasizing because so many people believe that the young
people not should stay out of his houses in the night. Transition Word, as the author
puts it in reality they do far more harm than good (476). the Basically, the writer is

people. In my respective opinion the curfews can save the lives of millions of teens
Avoiding the danger of walking the streets at night, I think that all the countries need
to have these law of the curfews for prevent the risk that young people run at night.
Both authors give many reasons why they are for or against curfews. Barbara Bey
gives his point of view of why curfews are helpful because teenagers are not at risk in
their homes at night and that the teens are more safe in his houses that in the streets
at night, while the other author insists that curfews are unnecessary because
Underground Railroad Henry Box Brown Analysis
Underground Railroad: Henry Box Brown How do you do gentlemen. What a
relief to finally get out of this contraption. You know, I was in there for hours. To
keep busy, I reassured myself that the long hours in the box would be worth it when I
became a free man. It is so nice to see some kind faces after the horrors of the south.
I feel like I ve been wronged. I can finally take a breath of fresh air now that I am free
of the box and free of the shackles of slavery. Being stuffed in a box was easy
compared to working from dawn to dusk in a tobacco factory. Fortunately, thoughts
of my family and friends would help get me through the day. I received very little
food and when I did, it was atrocious; I still ate it because I was starving. However,
The Battle of the Little Bighorn Essay

Indian tribes, known as the Great Sioux War. It was a lengthy, disjointed struggle
between the U.S. Army and the allied tribes of the Teton Sioux and Northern
Cheyenne Indians that occurred in the span of fifteen months between, March 1876
and May 18771. Hostilities between the U.S. Government and the Native American

Informative Speech On Pumpkin Baking
Baking is an art that may seem simple, but is actually fairly complex. I m not
talking about buying a box of Betty Crocker cake mix, adding some eggs, water,
and vegetable oil, and sticking it in the oven. I m talking about real, from scratch,
tastes like your grandmother made it baking. Baking is a very precise form of
cooking. It is important to measure every ingredient carefully and pay close attention
to the steps in the recipe. That being said, bakingdoes not have to be boring. Once
you grasp the basics of baking, you will be able to make any recipe your own. It
actually becomes a quite addicting hobby. It may be messier and more difficult than
just buying that cakemix from the store, but it is also ten times the fun and tastes way
better! Today I am going to teach you how to make pumpkin bread. Pumpkin bread is

This recipe calls for the following ingredients: all purpose flour, white cane sugar,
baking soda, salt, baking powder, pumpkin pie spice, eggs, canola oil, water, and
pureed pumpkin. After you have gathered your ingredients, you will want to find a
large mixing bowl. The bowl may seem too large with just the dry ingredients in it,
but this bowl will eventually hold the finished batter, so make sure it is large
enough! To this bowl you will add one and two thirds cup of all purpose flour.
Flour is the ingredient that gives your baked goods their nice, fluffy texture. Since
this recipe calls for all purpose flour and not self rising flour, you will also need to
add half a teaspoon of baking powder and three fourths a teaspoon of salt. After
this, you will add the remaining dry ingredients: one and a half cups of sugar, one
teaspoon of baking soda, and one teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice. If you desire, you
may also add more spices to taste. Whisk the dry ingredients together until just

In Bill Humble s book: Story Of The Restoration, he does an excellent and concise

is did from its beginning. Humble notes that, The Restoration Movement began in
America about 1800, nearly 200 years after the first English settlements in the New
World. (Humble 1). The New World was very diverse religiously compared to Europe
where Catholicism was prominent. The author goes on to list several of the main
religious groups that colonized the New World. Anglicanism became the state church

He notes: The decade following the Civil War saw a division in the Church in the
North. One point of contention was missionary societies between Isaac Errett and
Benjamin Franklin. The Louisville Plan restructured the Society with the aim of
maintaing peace in the brotherhood (Humble 57). The restructuring however
ultimately failed for lack of funds. The question of instrumental music was asked in
1851, and the discussion broadened between 1864 1865 when W. K. Pendleton saw
instruments as mere expediency. Some, such as McGarvey and Moses E. Lard, stood
fast in opposing the use of instruments. Another conservative, Benjamin Franklin,
said: Better is poor singing where love is, than the grandest tones of the organ and
hatred therewith. (Humble 60). In 1906 the Churches of Christ and the Christian
Church were officially listed separately in the United States Census. This was mostly
based on the use of instruments or not. Humble notes: In 1896 J.D. Tant estimated
that more than a hundred Texas congregations had divided over the use of
instrumental music. (Humble 65). Nevertheless, in 1916, Churches of Christ in Texas
were more numerous than Christian Churches (Humble 66). Division seemed to be
spotlighted in progressives and conservatives, but division abounded in each group as
well. For example, many conservatives agreed against societies and instruments, but

  • 3. Diphenhydramine Research Paper INTRODUCTION Diphenhydramine (DPH) is a well known first generation histamine H1 receptor antagonist, commonly used in humans allergic diseases treatments. Its usefulness is principally related with a decrease of histamine effect produced during the hypersensibility reaction. In addition to this effect, DPH has others molecular targets as muscarinic receptors, this fact explains most of its side effects. In particular, we found that, in 2004, Jangi et al. have clearly demonstrated that DPH induces a relevant apoptotic effect on leukemic Jurkat T cells, and later extended to other malignant cell lines . The authors showed that DPH, in higher doses of its antihistaminic effect, produces.................while it does not affect the survival of normal T... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This fact leads to acidic species overproduction and therefore a strong need of proton extrusion in order to avoid intracellular acidification. On the same line several proton transporters were found overexpressed in tumor cells and they have been a matter of study in the recent years. MCT, NHE, CA, NBC and V ATPase are the structures that more captured the attention in this field. However Hv1 channel has a powerful capacity for proton extrusion; and the important thing is that, as it is a passive transport pathway, it does it for nothing. Recently our group showed in Jurkat cells that Hv1 channel is indispensable for pHi regulation as its inhibition, by Zn2+ or the blocker Cl GBI, induces an immediate drop in basal pHi (within 20 min) in addition to a significative/profound impairment of the capacity for restoring intracellular pH after heavy acid loads. Moreover in culture conditions acidification upon channel blockade progress to values below 6.8 and consecuently tiggering apoptosis in this cells. Taken all together, we hypothesize that, if DPH is able to inhibit Hv1 in Jurkat T cells, likewise it do in microglial cells, it could induce acidification as an early event in its, previously demonstrated, pro apoptotic effect (cita). In this work we present electrophysiological data showing the effect of DPH on Jurkat T cells and its effect on intracellular
  • 4. The Freedom Of Travelling On Horseback To Arthur there was nothing like the freedom of travelling on horseback. The few times when he sat in the car and watched Merlin steer their way across the countryside along the roads it felt unsatisfying to him. The world passed by the windows too fast for Arthur to take in his new surroundings. He needed to feel the elements around him, like the sun on his face or the wind blowing into his hair as it did today. Here in the wide open air it smelled like humid soil, grass and flowers. That was far better to him then the confined feel and the awful smell of the car. Not to mention that he still did not trust the machine. It had the power to kill as far as he was concerned, and it put the fear in him. For some reason he could not get passed the image of how close he came losing Gwaine to one... Arthur steered his horse through known territory as fast as he dared. The thrilling gallop made him feel alive again. In the last few hours he had felt more like his old self than ever since he came to this century. This century... it still stunned him that so much time had passed in a matter of what felt like days to him. The way Camelot got snapped away from him in a blip of time made him feel as if part of his heart was ripped out. For his entire life he had known nothing else than it. He fought for his people and protected it with every fibre of his being. To be left without such a cause and without the love of his people, including his friends, was just too much to bear at times.
  • 5. What Is Prospero In The Tempest In Shakespeare s Tempest, Prospero is in complete control of his life and the lives of those around him. With the help of his spirit Ariel, he bends the weather and the minds of others in order to produce the exact chain of events that will bring his family back into power after his brother usurped his dukedom. From the beginning of the play, he has a fairly accurate idea of what will happen and informs the reader of his plans as the play progresses. However, one detail that Prospero fails to mention is what the last third of his life consists of. Prospero reveals that one third of his life is his daughter Miranda while another third is thoughts of his death. The last third is not mentioned which leaves the reader guessing as to what Prospero deems to be as significant in his life as his daughter and his death. With his dukedom restored, his enemies at his mercy, and possession of his magic books, the last third of his life is anything but predictable. Despite his large reliance on magic, it seems that the rest of Prospero s life is concerned with his ultimate goal of pleasing others. First, one should establish the scope of the first two thirds that Prospero mentions. In act 4, scene 1, Prospero has given Ferdinand his daughter Miranda in marriage. In doing so... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He specifically states that his daughter and death are two thirds of his life. The last third is concerned with pleasing others as seen through the forgiving of his brother and giving his daughter to Ferdinand. These thirds of his life were actually controlling him throughout the play by influencing his actions. The elaborate plan he devises has the sole purposes of ensuring a good life for his daughter and pleasing others before he dies. Perhaps Shakespeare is using Prospero to suggest that life truly consists of only the things that inspire us to act as Prospero breaks his life up into the aspects which make him
  • 6. Film Analysis The genre the film was originally intended to be was horror. But after filming and the editing process started we decided to change the film to a mystery film with a little bit of action in it. The action comes from the gun shot in the last scene. When we decided which of our story ideas or film ideas that we would film, we chose my film idea. This was because the idea we ended up going with was the most practical and had the least number of props needed for the production of the film. Deciding which shots to use was great because when we got to filming we could change it if it didn t look as good in reality as it did in our heads. During planning, we planned to use a range of different shots, from extra long shots to establish the scene ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If we had more time and a proper budget, then editing would have been done at a lot higher quality and had more access to locations then the film would have appeared nicer and longer to watch. This would have made the film much more enjoyable and appealing to the audience. Inputs: The film was not completed to the best standard, mostly because of the resources we had available. Using the resources available we were able to complete our project adequately. We had 3 different actors throughout the whole project: Cooper, Kyle and me, Aaron. We were not professional actors. Eric was the cameraman. I was the editor. And Eric and I was the directors. We also had Daulton and Zach to support us during the filming of the lab scenes. The software used to prepare for the film and create the script and storyboards was Microsoft Word. The story boards were created using a website called Storyboard That. The story boards were created on the website then put onto a Word Document with all the camera angles, shot types, dialogue and a short description about what happens in the scene. The editing software used to edit the film was Adobe Premiere Pro. I had access to Adobe Premier Pro so I decided to use instead of Pinnacle Studios that was preinstalled on our laptop because Premier Pro is much more powerful and would better suit our needs. I also used Adobe After Effects for the News intro lower thirds and the credits. The technology used during production was a

The colors got brighter and the lines became more curved, images started to become more abstract. This changed the meaning of the paintings to be a more imaginative and creative. Cezanne and matisse were to artists that painted in the 1900s and they changed with the times. The two paintings The Large Bathers and The Joy of Life are different but also have some similarities. In The Large Bathers the colors are dark, they are sitting around a pond, and it is a large group. Since the colors are very dark and cold it makes the people seem distant. This makes the people go away from us and the blues to stand out. All of the people are sitting around a pond washing cloths. This gives the image a focal point in the center of the painting. It draws your attention to what the people are doing and how they are interacting with each other. The emotions on the peoples faces are very sad and not upbeat, they do not seem to be having fun and enjoying their time. All of the people in the painting are with each other in a clump. • 8. Unit 1 Parachute Investigation Stage 1 Physics investigation Parachute Investigation The purpose of this assignment is to work out a parachute design and investigate parachute s drop time. Parachutes are designed to fall slowly so that the person can land safely to the ground, as shown in figure 1. Parachutes are big, but not heavy and have a larger surface area for air resistance like traps the air from escaping out of it. This is because the air pushes the parachute back up, but the force of gravity pulls the parachute to the earth. Figure 1 In figure 1, the force of the gravity is pulling the person and the parachute towards the ground because gravitational force makes the object fall quickly. However, the parachute slows the person down because it causes air resistance as it pushes the parachute back up and creates an opposite gravitational force. The forces push or a pull are called action and reaction forces, the subject of newton s third law. During this investigation, the push force is the air resistance and opposite (pull) force is the gravity. It is predicted that four sided parachute will take more time to reach the ground because the larger the surface area, more air particles hit/collide with the parachute, as shown in diagram 2. Nevertheless, the smaller the surface area of the parachute, fewer air particles collide and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This means that parachute took 8.08 seconds longer than the eraser s drop time without the parachute. This means that weight and the size affect the parachute s drop time because weight causes the whole parachute to accelerate as it gains speed and encounters an increasing amount of opposing upward air resistance force. For example; the first parachute we made was really big and had more surface area, but it did not work due to less air resistance. However, the second parachute worked well, but it did not fell straight

They were able to communicate this by knowing themselves. Another aspect that is separate, but ties into awareness of self is an awareness of other. In human relations a person has to try and understand where the other person is coming from. One way of accomplishing this is through being a good listener. Empathy and understanding are also another factor in understanding another s reality. Both teachers being from the same culture had a good understanding of their students. From this understanding of others, they were able to motivate their students to learn. Stuart illustrates this through his thread that runs so true concept, the work, play and learn through doing. Escalante illustrates this through practical application and his slogans. Another concept in knowing others is not to make assumptions. Though Escalante and Stuart were both guilty of this at times, they continued to questions their students on where they were at both personally and academically. The third concept in human relations and the ability to effectively communicate can be found in a belief in the worth of self and other.

In the bible it tells us this, When man began to multiply on the face of the land and daughters were born to them, the sons of God saw that the daughters of man were attractive. And they took as their wives any they chose. Then the Lord said, My Spirit shall not abide in man forever, for he is flesh: his days shall be 120 years. The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of man and they bore children to them. These were the mighty men who were of old, the men of renown (Genesis,6). This is where the Lord talks about the Nephilim, they were hybrids, half human and half demon. When Satan was casted down to Earth, his followers were thrown down with him. They then mixed their DNA with the DNA of a human, creating what is known as the Nephilim. The ominous mood and chilling tension overwhelms its audience. What makes this such a captivating, compelling story? Edgar Allan Poe, a complex, yet mocking and flashy writer uses a series of literary elements that aid him while taking us through the journey of the trouble narrator in, The Black Cat. The ever evolving tone throughout the story plays an enormous role in making this such an amazing story. In the beginning paragraph, Poe s signature unreliable narrator starts like a confessional. Another example of this is that the narrator has used a pen knife to cut out the cat s eye, there is some mockery. a pen knife is used to sharpen the quill of a pen. • 17. Capital Punishment And The Death Penalty Essay Capital punishment, or the death penalty, is the lawful infliction of death as a punishment. (thefreedictionary.com). The topic is quite controversial, as its merits and effectiveness as a deterrent for crime have been argued many times over. However, the death penalty is perfectly within reason, as it rids the streets of criminals that have committed serious crimes and is also cheaper for the government versus giving life sentences. Even so, there are many who are against the death penalty. One such argument that has been made is that the death penalty is barbaric because many innocents have been sent to their deaths. Although this would be true if these opposers lived before 1986, that is not the case in today s world because there is access to DNAtests and profiling. According to www.interpol.int, Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) molecules contain the information all living cells in the human body need to function. They also control the inheritance of characteristics from parents to offspring. (interpol.int). DNA profiling play important roles in crimes as it has the potential to link a series of crimes and to place a suspect at the scene of a crime. Not only that, but also DNA can help to prove a suspect s innocence. With DNA testing, no innocent person will die from the death penalty simply because DNA tests can be used as concrete evidence to prove the suspect s innocence. To start off, one should know what exactly DNA profiling is and its use for prosecution.

As Christiano discusses, xenophobia and anti Catholicism became tangled as Irish Catholics immigrated to the U.S. in the nineteenth century. As the Irish became the majority of the Catholic population, they had to contend with other ethnic Catholics, as well as contend with the dominant Protestantism (Christiano 162 63). While nativist hostility to Catholic immigrants continued, Irish immigrants turned in toward themselves, rejecting the Protestant Americanism of public schools and creating parochial schools instead to preserve their religion and culture (Christiano 164). Thus, the introduction of any new notational mechanisms must be designed as an organic whole about the traditional interpretation of signs and symbols regarding music semiotics. However, it is important to note here, that the scope of this goal is constrained to the semantics domain, as in broad sense the re interpretation of a musical score as a logical descriptor is radical in nature. The choose of CWMN as main descriptor of music related events is justified for the fact that CWMN is still in wide sue among the composer community, Kurt Stone wrote regarding this fact [Stone, 1980]. In spite of the new notational signs generated since early 1950s, a major part of our era s music, whether serious or not, has been, still is, and probably will continue to be written either entirely by means of traditional notation or with a mixture of old and new signs and procedures. A second important aspect relates to a practical performance aspect. In Western Music, staff notation plays an active role in the pursuit of communicating a complex musical idea created by the composer during the live performance. All relevant performance information is carefully detailed in the score parts, so the score plays two roles in the communication system, a passive role

The poem begins with Adam, who was first created with prosperity, then foolishly became poor after Adam and Evedecided to eat the forbidden fruit. The reader notices that after falling into temptation, Adam begins to suffer after he has sinned. Adam s mindless behavior to disobey God has caused Herbert to also become substandard, and all of humankind to suffer. Because these apprentices work under the supervision of a well qualified tattoo artist, there is a sort of duality and complication that occurs surrounding the creativity of today s age. The tradition has accepted and incorporated the ever changing icons and trends as time continues to pass. However, at the same time originality and creativity also continue to be a theme that is sought after. Even with the development of custom tattooing, traditional themes are still prevalent in today s tattooing society. The modern and popular interest in tattooing has attracted numerous artists, some of whom were trained at prestigious art institutes (Velliquette, Murray, and Creyer 1998). The Tattoo Renaissance has produced a dual creativity between artist and consumer and tattoos can be viewed as works of art instead of acts of rebellion, as it had an infamous reputation as. The Oxford English Dictionary defines science as the study or knowledge of the physical world, based on observation and experiment . This immediately raises issues about this debate as many areas of psychological research do not involve the observable. For example, the areas of Clinical and Counselling psychologyrely on a patient s thoughts and feelings to help determine whether they suffer from a mental disorder. Owing to an advancement in technology, however, phenomena that was once labelled as unobservable can now be observed. This, however, should not be taken at face value as these bodies would not want to portray themselves as being unscientific. Nevertheless, there is an overall positive effect of the psychological bodies seeing themselves as scientific as empirical research will be promoted further, making psychology as a subject more scientific. Furthermore, psychology has become more scientific by the need to move away from pseudo scientific perspectives. One such perspective, is Freud s Psychodynamic approach. This focuses on the subconscious mind, and as this phenomena cannot be observed, it has been argued that the Psychodynamic perspective is unfalsifiable and untestable. Both of these elements are key parts of what makes a science. However, others have argued that the Psychodynamic perspective is testable, but that it has just failed those tests (Hansson, 2015). review The Behavioural perspective was the first to try and move psychology as a subject away from the unscientific by focusing on observable and measurable behaviour to gain empirical evidence. • 45. Literature Review On Frozen Conflict SISU 206 Literature Review The topic I have decided to research is frozen conflict zones. Recently, the term frozen conflict has become more relevant within international relations, and it is used frequently when addressing conflicts within the former Soviet Union. However, frozen conflicts is a term that is often used loosely and as a result there is no way to categorize and define frozen conflict zones. Frozen conflicts are used to describe conflicts that are not active and have yet to be resolved. But, why is this term used only when discussing post soviet states? Why is this term not used to describe similar conflicts such as Taiwan or Israel and Palestine? How can a conflict be frozen if it is still creating global insecurities? I hope to answer all of these questions within my research by using a variety of scholarly and professional sources. Furthermore, I plan to create a set of criteria for defining for frozen conflict zones, and as a result I will be able to look into the annexation of Crimea to determine if it can be identified as a frozen conflict. I will inform my research through looking at cases of current conflicts within Georgia, Russia, Azerbaijan, and Moldova. An article titled Crimea and the Lessons of Frozen Conflicts by John Abrahamson, focuses on Russia s involvement in the Crimean Peninsula . This interpretive source argues that the Russian annexation of Crimea was a calculated move with the Russian objective to undermine Pro western states within Russia s sphere of influence. In the article, Abrahamson compares Russia s annexation of Crimea to former Soviet States that poses several frozen conflicts. Abrahamson furthered his argument by writing: ...Russia helps fracture local elites, prevent the emergence of normal political systems, and encourage illicit activities . . . from the smuggling of drugs and arms to nuclear proliferation1. Another author, Dov Lynch, wrote an article that focused upon the efforts of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and the European Union (EU) to solve frozen conflicts . Lynch pushed upon the OSCE and EU to change their conventional framework for how they approach frozen conflicts, and Lynch created a list of issued that
