Essays On Juvenile Delinquency
Writing an essay on the subject of juvenile delinquency can present a significant challenge due to
the complexity and sensitivity of the topic. This theme delves into the causes, effects, and
potential solutions to youth involvement in criminal activities, requiring a comprehensive
understanding of various social, psychological, and legal aspects.
One of the difficulties lies in navigating the multitude of factors contributing to juvenile
delinquency, including family dynamics, socio-economic conditions, peer influences, and mental
health issues. Thorough research is crucial to providing an accurate and nuanced analysis of these
elements, demanding a substantial investment of time and effort.
Furthermore, addressing the ethical considerations surrounding juvenile delinquency is
paramount. Balancing the need for effective interventions with a compassionate understanding
of the challenges faced by at-risk youth requires careful consideration and nuanced
argumentation. Striking the right tone is crucial to avoid stigmatization and oversimplification of
the issue.
The legal aspect adds another layer of complexity. Understanding the juvenile justice system, its
strengths, and shortcomings is vital to proposing viable solutions. Crafting a well-supported
argument for potential reforms or improvements necessitates a deep dive into legal frameworks,
precedents, and current practices.
In conclusion, writing an essay on juvenile delinquency requires a multidimensional approach,
combining insights from sociology, psychology, law, and ethics. The ability to synthesize
information, present a balanced perspective, and propose meaningful solutions is integral to the
success of such an essay.

Behind The Formaldehyde Curtain
Having read three essays over the last five days, I can now sincerely say that the
way an essay is written is as important as its topic, when we think about its effect on
the audience. That s actually why I didn t like Behind the Formaldehyde Curtain
even though it was enlightening me about a pretty interesting topic. The writer chose
the give the information step by step, and it was quite boring reading twelve pages
of concatenated data along with some quotes. Also the sentence: The hands should be
cupped slightly for a more lifelike, relaxed appearance (Brady) made me think about
death, in all the cultures, it is showed as if dying is a good thing rather than bad. Why
do people try to make dead people look better than they really are?... Show more

Judy Brady also used repetitions in Why I Want a Wife such as: I want a wife who
will take care of my physical needs. I want a wife who will keep my house clean
(Brady), to make her ideas more effective, whereas Jessica Mitford used quotes
from experts such as: Mr. John H. Eckels, president of the Eckels College of
Mortuary Science, thus describes the first part of the embalming procedure: In the
hands of a skilled practitioner, this work may be done in a comparatively short time
(Mitford) and Jonathan Swift uses facts such as: The number of souls in this
kingdom being usually reckoned one million and a half, of these I calculate there
may be about two hundred thousand couple whose wives 35 are breeders (Swift). I
believe that using repetitions was the most effective one because it helped creating a
dramatic punch while giving the message to the audience. It also occurred to me that
all three of the novels aroused interest during the time they were written, probably
because the writers opposed the common senses on the topic, instead they presented
their ideas from a different point of

Introduction
Michael Faraday is considered as one of the most important scientists in physics and
chemistry even nowadays, his famous and progressive researches began the new era
in electromagnetism, electrochemistry, and studying of many branches of these
sciences. His place in the list of scientist can be explained as one of the first only, his
works about electromagnetic rotary devices started the invention of electric motors,
and this is not only the one his achievement.
Michael Faraday was born and worked at the end of the 18th century and the
beginning of the 19th century. It was not the hardest period of European science, a lot
of famous scientists worked that time, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The evolution of machines and resources for studying different sciences and
disciplines grew fast, and scientists had more opportunities to share their experience
and present it to the world. That period was full of new inventions, theories and
discoveries that are still important for modern world.
Faraday s achievements and renovations place the important branch in the history
of science, he was well known and respected. Some of his ideas seemed to be silly
for other scientists, but in general they all knew him as a genius with a lot of
knowledge. As it was said earlier, he was asked to become the knight twice; he got the
important in the Royal Institution, refusing the place of the President of the Royal
Society (Hirsheld, 2009).
Being a kind person, he had a lot of friends and at the end of his life it helped him
more than ever before. Michael Faraday was sick for the last 25 years of his life,
being weak and needing help, but his income was extremely low, as his friends
noticed. They asked Victoria, the Queen of the United Kingdom, to rise his retire
payment and let him live in Hampton Court, free of all expenses and upkeep.
Victoria accepted the request and Faraday spent the rest of his life in Middlesex.
Remaining a Sandemian, Faraday was buried in the non Anglican section of Highgate

IV.METHODOLOGY
An Electronic Health Record (EHR) is a methodical group of EHR about an single
patient or multiple patients. It is a record in digital data format that is theoretically
able to being shared across distinct health care systems and doctors. In some casing
this division can be occur by way of networks systems and other information
networks or exchange systems. EHRs may consists verity of data, contain
demographics, medical history, medication and allergies, immunisation status, work
place test results, radiology images, vital mark, personal numeral number similar age
and weight, and billing message. Methodology used behind this is to take the
dissimilar images from dissimilar medical Equipment like EEG, ECG, Dental, CT
Scan, X ray machine as input images for the processing storing into the database.
The image product data format of these machines is distinct in data format. OSCAR
EMR system takes these images as input translate it into the proper JPEG or PNG
format. Converted image are stored in MySql databank server by using the DICOM.

Oppression Is The Driving Force Behind The Violence
Oppression is the driving force behind the violence in Israel. It is based on a land
dispute that led to oppression and now the violence seen today. Israel is plagued
with a cycle of violence and fear. There are many factors behind the climate of terror
that is taking place in Israel, but none as significant as oppression. The establishment
of Israelby Jews led to many changes for Palestinian Arabs, who were already living
in the area. Many of these changes were oppressive and intrusive to the Palestinian
Arabs way of life. As can be expected, wherever there is oppression, violence and
fear normally follow. Both sides have suffered losses amidst this violence. Jews
claim they fled to Palestine to avoid persecution and that establishing Israel as a
Jewish state would be the only way to ensure their safety. Yet their safety, and now
the safety of Palestinian Arabs, are both unsure. In the late 1800 s, Jews across
Europe began fleeing to Palestine to avoid anti Semitism and persecution. During
this era, there was a movement known as the Zionist; the Zionists wanted to return
to the Jewish Holy Land to establish a Jewish state that would serve as a sanctuary
for Jews. However, according to the State of Israel Proclaimed (State), at this time the
Zionist leadership was unable to persuade the Ottoman Empire to grant them a
charter. The following decades would see sporadic migration of Jews into Palestine.
World War I brought about more change in Palestine, including
To Succeed One Must First Dream in Looking Backwards

Set in the late 19th and early 21th century, Looking Backwards is a utopian novel
discussing the advantages of socialism, a political philosophy that many disenchanted
intellectuals of the 19th century believed in. Edward Bellamy, the author, is included
in that class ofintellectuals. By being transported to the modern day, Julian West, the
protagonist, is able to contrast the two societies he has lived in: the capitalistic 19th
centuryand the utopian, socialist 20th century. Julian West, a member of the
aristocratic class in Boston, lives an enchanted life among societies most wealthy
members. He doesn t have to work much at all, and he is due to be married to Boston

Dumbfounded, Julian thinks his friends are playing a joke on him, but Dr. Leete,
one the strangers, confirms that he is really in 2000. To convince Julian, Dr. Leete
shows him a glimpse of modern day Boston. Mr. West is amazed at the grandiosity
and cleanliness of the new Boston. Wondering how modern day Boston came to be,
Julian asks Dr. Leete why, and he explains that the government has consolidated all
industries into one industrial army. With the consolidation, social harmony and
equality ensued. The reason for the momentous change in society was that, They
[19th century poor] believed that the great corporations were preparing for them
the yoke of a baser servitude than had ever been imposed on the race, servitude not
to men but to soulless machines incapable of any motive but insatiable greed. (Page
30/180) Bellamy emphasizes that the change was a rational and rather simple
evolution in humankind. After this complete upheaval in the socio economic
systems of the United States, hunger and poverty were eliminated, efficiency in the
industrial system was maximised, and citizens were enabled to choose whatever
profession they so choose and earn the same amount of pay as their neighbour. Also,
Dr. Leete explains that money is no longer needed as it was a only a function of the
old, capitalist system. Instead, workers are given credit cards that have holes that can
be punched out of them. Once one is

By thinking ahead, senior managers can implement a process that takes into
account the strategic thinking workshop approach put forward by Graetz, (2002,
pp. 458 9). The advantage of this approach will be realised when staff from around
the world are brought together on a problem solving exercise. It is also necessary to
take into account the communicative skill gaps that exist and what type of
interpersonal skills are needed, and this is especially true in the ` context of decision
making vis a vis strategic alliances, for example (Trim and Lee, 2003). What needs to
be understood, however, is how individuals from different cultures relate to people
from outside their cultural value system. The key issues which surface are issues
such as the appropriate way in which to communicate within the organisation s
hierarchy, and if necessary, how to communicate with government representatives.
Therefore, training and staff development personnel in international organisations
need to identify which ` type of simulation exercises will be most suitable for training
staff vis a vis careers in an international organisational setting. Human resource
management specialists will, therefore, need to develop staff development
programmes that enable an individual employee to develop their skill base
continually. This means, according to Blunden (1997, p. 277), that an individual
needs to develop an ability to transfer his/her learning and skills from one situation to
Business Management Improves the Efficiency of an...
Management approaches and practices are core to the concept of business
management due to the insight it offers on various aspects of improving the
efficiency of organizations. There have been a lot of researchers that have devoted a
great deal of time to the study of these practices and approaches. Two very famous
amongst these contributors are Fred W. Taylor and Henry Ford. Taylor had advocated
that the task and priority of factory managementwas to determine the most efficient
way for a worker to do his job, to provide all the necessary equipment and training
to complete the job and to make sure that the task at hand is done achieving optimal
efficiency by providing workers with incentives. He broke down each job into its
individual motions, analyzed the importance of each and then timed the workers
with a stopwatch. He then eliminated unnecessary motion and asked the workers to
perform machine like routine, which increased the efficiency. On the other hand
Fordism was a specific stage of economic development in the 20th century. The
term gained popularity as it was recognized by firstly, the system of mass
production that was pioneered in the early 20th century by the Ford Motor Company
and secondly, the typical postwar mode of economic growth and its associated
political and social order that advanced capitalism. In this essay we will critically
discuss and analyze the impact of Taylorism and Fordism on contemporary
management approaches and practices.

Essay on The Flawed King in Shakespeare s Henry V
The Flawed King in Shakespeare s Henry V
To turn Henry V into a play glorifying war or a play condemning war would be to
presume Shakespeare s intentions too much. He does both of these and more in his
recount of the historical battle of Agincourt. Although Shakespeare devotes the play
to the events leading to war, he simultaneously gives us insight into the political and
private life of a king. It is this unity of two distinct areas that has turned the play
into a critical no man s land, acrimoniously contested and periodically disfigured by
opposing barrages of intellectual artillery (Taylor 1). One may believe that Henry is
the epitome of kingly glory, a disgrace of royalty, or think that Shakespeare himself
disliked Henry ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Approaching the play through mere historical reconstruction limits the potential for
insight into society and threatens to create a stagnant historical account. Although the
situation to which the play refers no longer exists, a connection can be made
between spectator and stage. The Chorus facilitates this connection. Shakespeare
obviously intended that the Chorus help the audience visualize the proceedings of
history. The Chorus has a dynamic role in inviting each audience member on a
journey through time. They have to assemble for themselves the model ruler of
Henry, in accordance with the instructions given, for it would be falsification of
history to pretend that [the play] could contain a clear cut and unambiguous ideal
(Iser 186). The Chorus provides a sense of individual responsibility in creating an
image; a product of the imagination and not a fact of history. The Chorus bridges the
gap between the past and the present. The spectator is encouraged to walk on an
illusionary plain with Henry and share in his experiences.
The communication by the actors is emphasized in this production, as there will be
little in terms of stage decor. The Chorus is a dictionary, so to speak, for this new
method of a raw and pure rendition of Henry V. It is explicit about how much stage
and actors will do, how much the audience must do for itself (Beauman 6).

Macbeth and the Power of Persuasion
Persuasion is a powerful and threatening tool against those who are weak. It can
sway one s decisions between good and evil, concealing judgment and jading the
conscience. It plays the critical role of a spectral villain, an invisible danger to the
protagonist in William Shakespeare s Macbeth. Macbethis a victim of persuasion of
others, making him ultimately not responsible for his actions. Macbeth s own partner
Lady Macbeth persuades her husband to commit murder and fulfill his ambition. The
three witches and their Queen influence Macbeth s decisions through the use of
predictions as well as the supernatural. Lastly, the three apparitions conjured by the
witches play a very crucial role in establishing Macbeth s fate through their... Show

Persuasion is a process that is effective only on the weak spirited. When Macbeth
learns of his future, his weaknesses and ambition are exposed to us: The Prince of
Cumberland: that is a step on which I must fall down, or else o er leap, for in my
way it lies. (1.4.49 51). Macbeth yearns for his seat on the throne. He is already a
very respectable man. He is the noble, loyal, and worthy Thane of Glamis (and
Cawdor, which he is currently unaware of) as well as a valorous soldier, but
Macbeth is still completely absorbed in the witches prophecies and even considers
killing the example of innocence and goodness, King Duncan. He is full of greed
and ambition, only lacking the evil to fulfill his lust for the power that resides in the
throne of Scotland. These qualities make Macbeth a weak and easy man to persuade
and corrupt, ultimately leading him into madness, his decline, and lastly his death.
Alongside these flaws, the power of the supernatural and man s weakness of pride
will ensure that the fall of Macbeth will be inevitable. Hecate, the Queen of Witches
explains to her subordinates how they will lead him to his doom in this exact fashion:
And that distilled by magic sleights,
Shall raise such artificial sprites,
As by the strength of their illusion,
Shall draw him on to his confusion.
He shall spurn fate, scorn death, and bear
His hopes bove wisdom, grace, and fear;
And you all know security

King Louis Xiv And The Sun King
King Louis XIV of France was known as Louis the Great or the Sun King because
he ruled with such strength and power. King Louis XIV, also known as the Sun
King, was a helpful leader in France. King Louis XIV had the longest reign in
European history, reigning from 1643 to 1715. King Louis XIV was an effective
ruler politically, religiously, socially, and artistically. Louis XIV ruled with an iron
fist, which many would come to criticize him for this, but it is one of his strong
points. Another weak point of the king s was his in ability to stay out of conflicts.
This caused France to suffer greatly economically. King Louis XIV ruled by the
saying One king, one law, one faith. In doing so he was able to help France. He
accomplished one king and one law , by restricting the power of others, and by
uniting the religion of the state, he attained one faith . Louis XIV was an
absolutist leader, and centered the country around himself, by doing so, he was
capable of building a strong and centralized monarchy and helping France.
Politically, King Louis XIV was successful in helping France by ruling with
absolute power. Louis XIV took power away from others, such as the parliament,
and put it all into his control. This was successful because at the time, France
needed structure, and Louis was able to provide that. Louis ruled firmly. He did not
allow anyone to challenge his power, and if they did do so, they would be punished.

by Andrew Marvell. The Purposes of the two poems are different, the purpose of
Sonnet 18 is for Shakespeare to write this poem for a girl or woman he likes, to

Marvell does this to put her under pressure to have sex with him; this is a fear
tactic and a persuasive technique. He also associates the passing of time with her
beauty fading, to make her more self conscious and see that she should have sex
with him beauty fades and she becomes ugly, then nobody will have sex with her.
He uses fear tactics throughout the poem to persuade her to have sex with him;
this affects the mood of the poem making it more threatening and tenser. For
example; To talk and pass our long love s day In line 11, Marvell talks about sex
using phallic imagery when saying vegetable love , this makes it humorous which
will affect the mood making it less tense and relaxing. Marvell uses many different
tactics, such as exaggeration, by comparing her to the Indian Ganges; Thou by the
Indian Ganges side This affects the mood of the poem making it flattery, imagery
such as this will flatter the girl and persuade her to have sex with him, and this
establishes that this technique is persuasive. Marvell is Romantic in the poem in line
19; For, lady, you deserve this state This makes this part of the poem calm and
sensitive, which contrasts to the following verses of the poem as they are threatening

The Purpose Of The Transcontinental Railroad
The Transcontinental Railroad
Have you ever seen a railroad? Well, there was a time when railroads were
desperately needed. This was the time of the Transcontinental Railroad. In my paper
I will explain the purpose of the railroad, challenges the workers faced, and the
results of the finished railroad.
To start, I will explain the purpose of the Transcontinental railroad. In Source #1 Full
Steam Ahead The Transcontinental Railroad , it says People had been asking for
coast to coast rail travel for decades. Since the invention of the locomotive in 1825,
companies had built many rail lines. These railroads connected eastern cities and
seaports, splashing travel times and helping these areas grow. Crossing the country,
however was much more difficult. People and trade goods traveled by horse,
stagecoach, or wagon train. The trip took months. Not many made the journey. So the
government during the time thought that building a railroad, would help businesses
sprout up like corn. According to Source #1 it also says Two companies immediately
got to work. Railroads already existed that stretched from the East of Omaha,
Nebraska. Now, the Union Pacific Railroad began extending the tracks from Omaha
out to the West. The Central Pacific Railroadbegan in Sacramento,California and laid
tracks out East. Eventually, the two companies would meet in Promontory, Utah. So,
basically the purpose of the railroad was to get people and goods from coast to coast.

A Theory Of Justice, By Immanuel Kant
John Rawls is a world renowned, American political philosopher of the twentieth
century. His views on the state of nature, society, and politics were much more
distinct from previous philosophers, and his more modern or progressive life
experiences can contribute to the separation between him and others, such as
Aristotle, Hobbes, or Rousseau. However, he does have certain ideas and point of
views that correlate with the views of those that Immanuel Kant expresses, and more
specifically Rawls was greatly influenced by Immanuel Kant by his conclusions in
moral philosophy and autonomous law. Rawls takes both from historical knowledge
and modern experiences to shape his ideas, and he articulates them through one of his
most influential books, A Theory of Justice. Through this book he describes the
structure or origin of the social contract tradition in a different view by arguing on
behalf of political society through a more liberalism tradition. For example, one of
his most distinct views is the role of an original positionin the social contractThe
original position is a model of impartiality is based from the veil of ignorance , the
principle of rational within individuals, and the idea that individuals choose from
self interest, and as such the individuals who derive the social contract will obtain
the most just, equal, and fair society in all political, social and economic aspects of
society. Although Rawls has various strong objections on his views to the original
Reflective Group Dynamics Essay
Each individual is categorized into a group from the day they were conceived.
According to Kozier et al (2010) a group is two are more people who have shared
need and goals, who taken each other in account in their and who, thus, are held
together and set apart from others by virtue of their interaction (p. 400). The
communicate that takes place between members of the group is group dynamic
(Kozier et al, 2010). Motivation for participation and similarity of other group
members and the goals of the group will affect the group dynamic (Kozier et al,

When doing so the other group members were active listener, by using their whole
body verbally and nonverbal. Like facing the speaker and giving eye contact and
try to avoided interruption. The group also acknowledges the thoughts of the
speaker by giving constructive feed back. Due to the effectiveness of the group
communication, we were able to build trust, respect and understand the issues and
make decision for effective change. We illustrate this by coming together as a
group one again to accomplish the goal we initially wanted to accomplish. Since
the first organization that we had chosen was incorrect, so we had to make the
necessary changes to accomplish our goals. The other effective feature is the
purpose of the group. Kozier et al (2010) stated that the effective group purpose is
when goal, task, and outcomes are clarified. Understanding and modified so that
members of the group can commit themselves to purposes through cooperation
(p.401). For instance, each individual was assign a task and knew what was to be
accomplished. As group we all decided to meet at suitable day and time which was
beneficial to all team members, because we could commit to the group and focus on
what needed to be achieved. Even though the group had a lot of effective features, it
wasn t smooth sailing all the time. The team also had ineffective features like the
atmosphere and power. According to Kozier et al (2010) an ineffective group

The Role Of Religion In The Vampire Chronicles By Anne
Rice
The Vampire Lestat, the second book in The Vampire Chronicles, is a dark
romantic novel written by Anne Rice. It is an autobiographical story told by Lestat
de Lioncourt as a response to Interview with the Vampire. He wrote it in hopes that
Louis would read it and return to him and as an act of rebellion against vampire
secrecy rules. Much like Interview with the Vampire, The Vampire Lestat also
questions the vampire s role in religion. In The Vampire Lestat, Rice challenges the
concept of religion with the Children of Darkness.
The Children of Darkness were bound together by the Dark Ways. They believed if
they failed to follow the Dark Ways, then they would burn in hell. They lived
miserable lives underneath a cemetery in Paris, where they worshiped Satan. When
an old woman threatened Lestat and Gabrielle with the wrath of God, Lestat told
the vampires the only beings giving them trouble for the way they lived were the
coven. They were paralyzed for a moment. Why hadn t we been struck dead when
we entered the churches? How could we be what we were? (214). The Children of
Darkness were in shock because Lestat s statement challenged the information they
knew as true. God or Satan had not taken action as they believed, and they began to
doubt their faith. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After he had dismissed the entire coven because all of the Dark Ways were proven
untrue, he spoke with Lestat, who wanted to know what the purpose of the coven
was. Lestat was enraged without understanding why until he read Armand s mind.
He was no sublime spirit who understood what his followers had not. He had not
believed it. He had believed in it, a thousand times worse! (227). Lestat was
infuriated because Armand had manipulated a large group of vampires into living
their immortal lives in terrible conditions. The Dark Ways had been forbidden the
experiences of immortality and instead lived like corpses under a
Causes Of Colonialism In Canada
When looking at Canada as a whole, we often tend to overlook the past events of
Indigenous groups who have suffered through Colonialism. As I read about this
issue, I felt sympathy for the Indigenous peoples, as it was overwhelming for me to
find out that this much discrimination has occurred in a nation as diverse and
developed as Canada. Reading more about colonization helped me to make
connections between the issues and topics I have learned about in class, and how
they can be traced back to European contact with the Indigenous peoples. The
Colonial powers in Canada rested in the hands of the British and the French, who
declared sovereignty over the territories which rightfully belonged to the Indigenous
peoples (Cochrane et al. 70). The worst effect of colonialismis the exploitation,
domination, and subjugation of the people by the imperial power (Cochrane et al.
71). Due to the fact that their rights were determined solely by the white society s
rules, one of the only governance options left for Indigenous peoples was to become
independent of the Canadian state (Cochrane et al. 87). The Royal Proclamation Act
of 1763 guaranteed the protection of lands for Indians under the Crown, and required
any colonists occupying Indian lands without the permission of the crown to
evacuate; however, these rights to Indians have been much ignored (Cochrane et al.
70). During post confederation, several treaties numbered 1 11 were created to allow
aboriginals to claim land titles,
Westward Expansion and Indian Removal
America is often considered one of the most wealthy and powerful countries in the
world. The United States is associated with global reverence and respect; however,
could a nation so great preserve indigenous societies continuously impeding the
country s potential growth without giving up on aspirations of success and
expansion? Would our country exist as the power symbol it is today without certain
actions that removed the barriers preventing American expansion and growth?
Although the aboriginal people of America had claimed their land before the
settlement of white colonists, the Native Americans proved an impediment towards
the ultimate growth in America s economic and commercial power. However harsh

Though the war concluded in a stalemate between opposing sides of Britain and
America with the ratification of the Treaty of Ghent, the Native Americans were the
true losers of the war, as the end marked the loss of indigenous independence
(Phillips 114). After the war, Native American morale had diminished as they no
longer posed as prominent a threat towards the goal of American Manifest Destiny.
However, not all Native Americans had retreated further into the West large tribes still
dotted United States territory and continued to threaten American growth and
economic prosperity promised with Western expansion (Welch 32). The Indian
Removal Act, passed in Congress on May 26, 1830, supported the eager desires of
Americans in allowing the access of western lands no longer in the possession of
Native Americans (Kessel 371). In Andrew Jackson s second annual message to
Congress, delivered on December 6, 1830, Jackson stated that:
The consequences of a speedy removal will be important to the United States, to
individual States, and to the Indians themselves... By opening the whole territory
between Tennessee on the north and Louisiana on the south to the settlement of the
whites it will incalculably strengthen the southwestern frontier and render the
adjacent States strong enough to repel future invasions without remote aid. It will

The novel, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, and the short story, The Celebrated
Jumping Frog of Calaveras County, both written by Mark Twain, are similar in terms
of Twain s style using figurative language, syntax, and different types of diction.
First, Twain s style can be described as including many different forms of figurative
language throughout his stories, including similes, hyperboles, and polysyndeton.
According to Chapter 12 of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Nothing but just a
shiny bed of lights ... (Twain). In this quote, the author used a metaphor to compare
the sky to a bed, and lights to stars in the sky. Similarly, Twain stated in The
Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County, You never see a frog so modest...

This means that the sentence structure of Twain s writing is composed of sentences
with more than one subject or predicate, usually run on sentences broken apart by
semi colons. These types of sentences tend to be followed by short sentences or
fragments at the end of each paragraph, creating a pattern in sentence and paragraph
structure. For instance, in The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, the author states,
Jim said he bet she did think of it by the time the men was ready to start, and he
believed they must a gone up town to get a dog and so they lost all that time, or else
we wouldn t ... (Twain). The run on sentence helps the reader understand that people
during this specific time period didn t usually have a decent education. This means
that the syntax presented is a good representation of the language and style of
speaking in the mid 1800s. In the short story by Twain, there is a series of run on
sentences separated by many semi colons in the first paragraph, and the last sentence
stated, If that was the design, it certainly succeeded (Twain 1). This short sentence
provides simplicity in contrast to the long sentences previous that are more difficult
to understand, because generally, they tend to be very wordy. The syntax of the two
passages similarly contributes variation in the structure of paragraphs. It is obvious
that Twain, the author of both the noveland short story, has a specific style of writing
that helps highlight the different tones of
Unions In The Fast Food Industry
The fast food industry encompasses a wide variety of economic situations. To begin
with, within in the industry a widely discussed topic is the idea of workers forming
unions in order to fight for better working conditions. Advertising is also a prominent
factor that guides the productivity of businesses of the fast foodindustry. Another
guiding force for fast foodchains is globalization of their businesses, without
advertising and globalization of businesses fast food chains would not be as
successful as they are. The success of businesses can be determined through the idea
of elasticity and the income effect because if a business knows the demographic they
are targeting the companies will likely know how responsive profits are to a change...

The fast food industry has helped to bring to light various economic situations and the

Another controversial topic that the fast food industry helps to dissect and make
more understandable is the idea of advertisement that targets certain age groups and
the idea of globalization. Moreover, businesses within the fast food industry help to
determine the type of competition under which the whole industry operates and how
businesses within the industry make their profits. The fast food industry operates

The Cuban Population And Population Growth And The
Rate Of...
Cuba is currently described as a developing country and when exploring this
countries history it became clear why they are considered so. At the moment, the
population is decreasing at a rate of 3% according to cia.gov. According to prb.org,
the birth rate per thousand is eleven and death rate per thousand is nine which can
lead one to infer that the rate of natural increase, is 2 per 1000(or .2%). Something
that can be taken away from these stats is that the rate of natural increase is positive
while the rate of populationgrowth is negative. The reason for this is an irrational
number of young people who leave this country.According prb.org, the net
migration rate is 5. This means that for every 1000 people in the country, five
people leave. This number is not supposed to be negative; however, it is because of
how many people leave this country. Most of the people leaving are the young
people who will end up having children. This becomes a problem because if all of
the people who are of childbearing age leave and have children elsewhere, there are
no young people to help offset the old population. According to the site
havannatimes.org, The combination of young people leaving the country and low
birth rates makes Cuban society endure a population aging process. The percentage
of people under 60 has been growing linearly for decades, as the percentage of
people under 20 decreases proportionately. Cuba is currently in stage 4 of the DTM
model. . The country
Subculture Influence On Hip Hop
Since when did it become cool to be the user? Hip hop music is extremely
influential. What is hip hop? It s a culture that showcases creative expression in the
coolest forms, mainly through your eye or ear gates. In hip hop s earlier formative
years it expressed a once hidden subculture of drug use from a negative detrimental
outlook. The subculture would paint pictures of horrific zombie like creatures
being hooked on drugs doing all things deplorable to chase a feeling, all expressed
while using rhyme, graffiti or video to deliver the message. This would deter fans of
the culture to stay away from such vices. Times have changed. Ignorance is now
celebrated. Drug usage in the culture is expressed and celebrated in the most melodic
rhythmic forms. It s promoted on... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

This lab will record the growth process of embryo rescue in a hormone free media.
The results on the percentages of attempts that resulted in the isolation of an intact
embryo was 33%. This is due to the fact that this was the first time that I performed
an embryo rescue, and made a few mistakes along the way. The first mistake that
occurred was that I cut too deep into the endosperm, and cut into the embryo itself (a
few times). Another mistake that was made was that I found it hard to cut into the
seeds while using the forceps, without losing the seed.
The percentage of intact embryos that developed into a plant was 33%, meaning the
only one out of the three sprouted.
The changes that occurs during the progression from dormant embryo to active
growth is that the crown becomes a reddish color, which is that is appeared on most
Wayfaringtree Viburnum. The red crown is due to the flavonoids that are apparent in
the molecular structure.
Since Wayfaringtree Viburnum has to go through the cold stratification to break
dormancy, the mechanism practice that would have to take place would have to
be a type of refrigeration or freezing process. This process is done for 8 10 weeks of
holding temperature of 4В° C. These orthodox seed will be placed in a refrigerator to

Managing Organizational Change Essay
Daniel LeBlanc Managing Organizational Change BUS600 Management
Communication with Tech Tools Professor Emmanuel Lewis November 16, 2009
Organizational change is any action or set of actions resulting in a shift in direction
or process that affects the way an organization works. Change can be deliberate and
planned by leaders within the organization (i.e., migrating from legacy technology to
new improved Internet Protocol infrastructure), or change can originate outside the
organization (i.e., new government regulatory process) and be beyond its control.
Change may affect the strategies an organization uses to carry out its mission, the
processes for implementing those strategies, the tasks and functions performed by the

In addition, these leaders frequently control resources and rewards within the
organization. These core believers need to involve a larger group of initial
participators who don t necessarily have the same level of commitment to change
as do the core believers, but they participate in the initiative out of loyalty to the
organization. The change process takes hold and its successes are publicized,
support will spread to others who typically wait and see whether they should
commit to the initiative. Last to commit to the efforts are the hard core resisters,
some of whom will never support the change process because of personal agendas.
A clear and concise motivating vision is needed to inspire a large number of
employees to change. People need to know why change is desirable, why they
should make the effort to support it, and what it will achieve. The change can be
very painful to some employees whose jobs may require new skills, transfers or even
elimination. The motivating vision should be sufficiently concrete so that people can
understand what it means and why the change is necessary, but not so rigid that it
has no room to evolve. A motivating vision is one that enables people to imagine new
possibilities for the organization as a whole and for themselves as members of the
organization. That motivating vision is an advanced leading edge technology

Gothic Literature Research Paper
They told of dripping stone walls in uninhabited castles and of ivy clad monastery
ruins by moonlight, of locked inner rooms and secret dungeons, dank charnel
houses and overgrown graveyards, of footsteps creaking upon staircases and
fingers tapping at casements, of howlings and shriekings, groanings and scuttlings
and the clanking of chains, of hooded monks and headless horseman, swirling
mists and sudden winds, insubstantial specters and sheeted creatures, vampires and
bloodhounds, bats and rats and spiders, of men found at dawn and women turned
white haired and raving lunatic, and of vanished corpses and curses upon heirs
(Susan Hill). In this quote Susan Hill is describing gothic architecture found in
one of her stories. The dark dungeons and dank charnel houses directly points to the
gothic genre. Gothic literature creates complex emotions into a reader. Emotions
that readers can t find anywhere else. For example, reading a book can be so much
more terrifying than watching a movie. For some people watching scary movies is
just pointless and a waste of time, but when they read a horror book their
imagination and thoughts go wild and they can get so scared. However, this can be

Therefore managers develop a system to tightly control workers and use their

Taiwan And China International Relations Essay
The goal of studying international politics is to create generalizable conclusions
about the relationships at the international level. That is, there is a scientific method
used to understand how the world works. The three main methods for understanding
how the world works are realism, liberalism, and constructivism. The purpose of this
paper is to explain the components of the main theories and apply them to the
relationship between Taiwan and China, and the likelihood, or lack thereof, of
another great power war. The dispute arose from the Chinese nationalists fleeing to
the island of Taiwan after Mao Zedong and his communist revolution took over
mainland China. The conflict here is whether or not the independence of Taiwan will
be recognized or the People s Republic of Chinawill seek to invade Taiwan and assert
its dominance over it, thus creating a possibility of war with the United States.
Liberalism is the best theory in international relations because it best explains the
situation in Taiwan and presents the best generalizable conclusion for how the
relationships between states work. The first theory, realism, is concerned with only
survival and power in international relations. This is because realists assume that
states are rational, unitary actors in a state of Hobbesian anarchy whose preferences
are mutually conflictual. Hobbesian anarchy is a terrible state in which every actor
cares only for their own survival. This means that under this state, all actors

Although Truman Capote recognizes the duality of Perry, he uses language
complexities to demonize Dick; therefore he argues people with mental health issues

Amplification embellishes the artwork that Capote illustrates. In the beginning, he
paints the picture of Perry as naive and gentle, which contrasts with Dick who was
heartless and arrogant. Later, a picture of Dick s past as a teenager is elaborated:
An outstanding athlete always on the first team at school. Basketball! Baseball!
Football! Dick was always the star player. A pretty good student, too, with A marks
in several subjects... After he graduated from high school June, 1949 he wanted to go
on to college (Capote 166). The amplification of Dick s high school career was
above average and used to describe his once successful life. This is a crucial
passage to admire because Dick hadn t realized just how fortunate he was as an
adolescent and as he grew older he became dark and closed off as if a switch flipped
inside of him. Creating contrast to his emotions as the murder was leading up. The
behavior switch seemed almost inhuman as a straight A jock turned into a cold

illness, and if society recognized this illness, help could have been provided.

Comparing The Cardiovascular System And The Digestive
System
I chose to write about the digestive system and the cardiovascular system. In the
digestive system, the major organs are salivary glands, esophagus, stomach, small
intestine, large intestine, rectum and anus. There are accessory organs which are the
liver, gallbladder, and pancreas. The major components are the month, teeth,, tongue,
and epiglottis. Food enters the mouth and the salvia starts the digestive process by
starting to break down the food. The teeth chew the food while the tongue is pushing
the food to the back of the throat. When the food is swallowed the epiglottis keeps
the food from going down the wrong way. The food hen goes down the esophagus
where it then goes to the stomach. Just before the food enters the stomach there is...

When eating a meal the gallbladder then contracts which sends bile to the small
intestine. Then the nutrients gets absorbed into the blood stream, there is leftover
liquid that passes into the small intestate. What food that is left over then travels to
the large intestine. The large intestine is a 5 6 foot long muscular tube that connects
the cecum which is the first part of the large intestine to the rectum and the last part
of the large intestine . The large intestine is made up of the cecum, which is the
ascending right colon, the transverse colon, the descending colon, and the sigmoid
colon, that connects to the rectum. Stool, or waste left over from the digestive
process, is passed through the colon by means of peristalsis, first in a liquid state and
ultimately in solid form as the water is removed from the stool. A stool is stored in
the sigmoid colon until there is a movement to release the stool into the rectum twice
a day. When the descending colon becomes full it then empties the contents into the
rectum. The rectum is an 8 inch chamber that connects the colon to the

EN 222 Intro to British Lit. II April 21, 2012 William Blake in contrast of Songs of
Innocence and of Experience William Blake, an engraver, exemplified his passion
for children through his many poems. Blake lived in London most of his life and
many fellow literati viewed him as eccentric. He claimed to have interactions with
angels and prophets, which had a great influence on his outlook of life. Blake
believed all prominent entities, those being church, state, and government had
become sick with greed and hatred; and Christianity had somehow failed. According
to Jeffery Bell in Industrialization and Imperialism, 1800 1914 Blake s simple

This poem implies that it could possibly be Satan. The distant deeps and burnt the
fire of thine eyes suggest its creation in hell. The mystery behind Blake s poem is
left to the interpretation of the reader. Another poem from Songs of Experience is
Infant Sorrow. This poem represents childbirth, and the pain associated with it. In
addition, it signifies the uncertainty the child feels entering into unknown
surroundings. The baby is swaddled and placed into the arms of what he feels is a
stranger (his father) and laid upon his mother s breast to sooth him. Blake s
analysis of childbirth allows the reader to experience the possible perspective of
an infant as it enters the world. Blake s unique way of writing challenges his
readers to analyze each poem wondering if their interpretations are correct. Finally,
years later, Blake wrote another rendition of The Chimney Sweeper. This time the
child is considered experienced. The child, no longer innocent, understands his
hopeless situation. He realizes his parents have purposely surrendered him to a life
of despair. The child speaks the truth without any dreams or thoughts of rescue.
Blake depicts the child s senseless pain and suffering, in hopes of helping to
eradicate child labor. Most of these poems mentioned from the Songs of Experience,
are free from imaginary dreams and happy endings. Blake wanted his readers to
connect with both the Songs of Innocence and Songs of Experience. These poems,

The challenge facing the global community in achieving an effective response to
climate change, is that often the long term sustainability objective of the global
community is weighed against short term economic objectives of States and found
wanting. Article 2 of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change
(UNFCCC), states that the
objective of the treaty is to stabilise greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere
at a level that would prevent dangerous anthropogenic interference with the climate
system. Such a level should be achieved within a time frame sufficient to allow
ecosystems to adapt naturally to climate change, to ensure that food production is not
threatened and to enable economic development to proceed in a sustainable manner .
Although the UNFCCC set out a clear vision for the global response to climate
change, it lacked the mechanism to ensure compliance. The Kyoto Protocol is an
Successful Political Campaign
There are many components of a successful political campaign. The first component
would be to build name recognition. Since many citizens are not well informed about
congressional candidates, getting the candidates name out there can deliver a few
extra percentage points of support. The second would be voter mobilization. Turnout
to votingpolls is not automatic. Just because someone supports a candidate that does
not mean that they will actually go to the polls and vote. Candidates have to make
sure that they get the people out to vote and do whatever they can to make sure they
do. Campaign professionals refer to voter mobilization efforts as GOTV which
means get out the vote or ground game. They use door to door campaigning methods,
phone banks, and e mails. The third component is decreasing opponent s chances.

The Effects Of Fossil Fuels On The United States
In the United States, a sustainable society is desired by virtually every citizen,
especially the ones informed of the consequences caused by our wanton use of fossil
fuels and the detrimental methods used to extract them from the earth. Nevertheless,
despite almost universal acceptance of the need to turn away from nonrenewable and
polluting energy sources, there are forces preventing that switch. One of those forces
is the megalith that is our current energy paradigm, or the existing energy production
/consumption infrastructure that we ve built which runs largely on nonrenewable
resources. Yet, as daunting as a transition to a world run on renewable energies like
solar, an energy source with significant growth potential, may seem from a
technological and logistical standpoint, it is eminently feasible. The most problematic
hurdle the United States faces is, in truth, political stagnation. While intense lobbying
efforts from the fossil fuelindustry and public utilities don t help, the gridlock caused
by the inherent framework of the U.S. political system is principally to blame for
governmental malaise when it comes to investing in green technology. However, with
increasing concerns over environmental degradation and impending climate change,
progress has been made. The U.S. Department of Energy (USDE) has appointed 25
cities across the country to be part of its Solar America City initiative, including

Arriving at Thompson Rivers University, we stepped off the bus and looked at the
pool. The stench of chlorine burned our noses as we entered the pool. The interior
design of the sport complex was amazing although it seemed like a jail. The pool
reminded me about the same pool during Frasers swim meet. The vast poolwas filled
with swimmers diving in and climbing out of the lanes. We had a bit of time to rest
before the first event started so we made use of the time to practice. Luckily, the
individual medleys were the first events to start off the 2015 High SchoolSwimming
Provincials swim meet and I didn t have to swim until event 29. I had a few hours
before I had to get changed and swim so I laid back and started to doze off.

Luckily, I was going to be the last one to swim since I was swimming freestyle in
the 100m mixed relay. The referee shouted, On Your Mark....Get Set, and the same
deafening buzz pierced my eardrums. The swimmers dove into the water like
dolphins and swam towards the other side and back like mad sharks. As I stepped
up onto the platform, my heartbeat quickened and sweat dripped down from my
head as I got ready to jump just as my teammate slammed into the wall. Bending
my knees and pushing off to gain as much power as I could get, I splashed into the
cold and freezing water that I haven t touched in hours. My arms would not slow
down take a rest. Constantly, my head spun from side to side so I could glare at
the swimmers beside me who were trying so hard to pass me. Speeding towards the
other side, I pulled my legs in and did a flip turn. Unfortunately, water rushed into
my nose as I forcefully pushed off the wall. The two swimmers beside me were just
a few inches in front of me! My legs quickened its movement to boost myself to
catch up to those two. However, instead of speeding up, I slowed down and
eventually lost to both of them and ended up getting third in my heat.
When I reached the bleachers, Mr. Tustin was still there. Water drops left my wet
hair like children jumping off diving boards. I was dissatisfied with my time. I had
only achieved a 50m freestyle time of 32 seconds. I had also let my
The Outbreak Of E. Coli
Introduction
In the year, 2005 a major outbreak of the bacterium E. coli perished in the South
Wales and more than 157 people were affected by this bacterium, which mainly
included the children. The reason found out behind this incident was connected with
a meat supplier who used to serve the local schools and old age homes. A five year
old child lost his life during the course of this outbreak. Therefore, this paper is
written with the aim of exploring the outbreak of E. coli in South Wales, to witness
the actual reasons of the diseases, the difficulties that arise during the course of the
event and to give a look on the things that this incident has taught us.
E. coli
E. coli or Escherichia coli are a kind of bacteria that affects the intestinal or the
digestive system of a human being, which can even lead to death. It is one of the
subgroup of fecal coliform bacteria. E. coli O157:H7 is that toxic microorganism
or bacteria which causes the intestinal disease in the human beings which is most
likely to last about a week. The common symptoms of these diseases are that the
patient will have diarrhea with blood (Clermont, Bonacorsi and Bingen 2000).
However, the serve cases of this disease may lead to kidney problems, which can
lead to death especially when the patient is a child or an elderly person. That is, it
can act severely in those patients who have does not have a strong immune system.
Some types of E. coli are normally found in the intestines of people and animals
Independent Record Label Essay
The Music Industry has been a constant in the hearts of fans and the general public
for years. During those years, music companies were ran a certain way that may have
seemed successful for a while. Everything changed when Independent Record Labels
were created. Music was revolutionized when the effects of Independent Record
Labels took place, when Atlantic Recordswas created, and when founders, producers,
and artists worked together to create a viable business and music outlet. Music was
indeed revolutionized when the effects of Independent Record Labels took place.
Atlantic Records and Stax both play a role in showing how Independent Record
Labels were so successful. Before Atlantic Records, there had been Independent
Record Labels but... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1947, Atlantic Records was created by Ahmet Ertegunand Herb Abramson in New
York City (Callahan and Edwards). This would end up being one of the biggest
and most important achievements in music history. As discussed in the previous
paragraph, Atlantic Records was able to incorporate many different kinds of
genres into their label making them unique compared to their competitors.
Callahan and Edwards describe the jazz musicians that they had as giants , such as
Lester Young and Sidney Bechet. The fact that they were able to have connections
with these giants shows that from the start, they appealed to the big stars and I
believe this showed they were destined for stardom. Atlantic Records also
produced multiple #1 hits in the R B category in the 1950 s (Callahan and
Edwards). In the late 1950 s and throughout the 1960 s, Atlantic Records created
many big soul hits as well (Callahan and Edwards). This record company was able
to do it all. Another big time period was from 1953 1955 when pop artists started to
cover R B songs (Callahan and Edwards). Atlantic Records was able to jump on this
new trend and this became a big part of their success and continued fame (Callahan
and Edwards). The ability to capitalize on market trends is important in all facets of
business and Atlantic Record showed that they were smart in running the business.
Atlantic Records had a great relationship
Mental Illness And Mental Health
On Wednesday 8th October, Nick Clegg Deputy Prime minister will fund an addition
ВЈ120m for mental health. This allocation for mental health, shall go improving
mental health care. There shall be an introduction of standard waiting times to
receive mental health. Also there is a target for mental illnesses to be given the same
care and consideration as those with physical illnesses. Also there will be funding of
ВЈ30m to go into improving how mental healthpatients are dealt with, when they
attend A E. This is an important issue to focus on because almost half of UK has had
some form of mental illness(). For the purpose of this background report, I shall focus
on how the government has funded and dealt with mental illness. Considering that
mental illness is an important issue, I would like to explore the state of mental health
care, especially during the coalition period from 2011.
Discussion
The World Health Organisation (WHO) defines Mental Health as
Mental health is defined as a state of well being in which every individual realizes
his or her own potential, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work
productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to her or his community.
(World Health Organisation, 2014)
Having stable mental health is paramount in order to be able to cope with normal
day to day life and be able to give productive input into one s environment. However,
when one has poor mental health, this can have an adverse effect on
The Book Make Lemonade By Virginia Euwer Wolff The...
Environment Effect In life many experience hardship. We live in a world where
for some have to work so hard everyday just to survive society. In the book Make
Lemonade by Virginia Euwer Wolff the environment isn t stable for a lot of people.
There is poverty and crime surrounding the area and this makes it hard on everyone
to be, and feel secure in their own environment. Throughout the book Jolly s and
LaVaughn s environment changes involuntarily. Once they both accept what they can
and cannot control their environments effect begins to be positive.
Before the book takes place both Jolly and LaVaughn had a different environment
growing up. Their environment shaped them to be the people we met in the
beginning of the book. In the beginning of the book LaVaughn shares a memory
from when she was little with her mom. In this memory when LaVaughn asked her
mom if she could go to college her mom said, Nobody in this building... ever went
to college, nobody in my family... somebody got to be the first right? From this
moment on LaVaughn s main priority was to get good grades so that she could get
into college, and LaVaughn s mom s priority was to make sure LaVaughn worked
hard for good grades. This moment and the impact of this moment shaped who
LaVaughn is in the beginning of the book. Also when talking about her life now and
as a child LaVaughns says, ... we pay our rent exactly on time and we have insurance
benefits from her (LaVaughn s mom) job and we go to the

How Plastic Pollution is Out of Control Many individuals underestimate the amount
of plastic we use each day. According to the article Plastic Bags Wars , the world
consumes 1 million plastic shopping bags every minute . Plastic bags, along with
many other types of plastics, have become a leading source of pollution worldwide
(Doucette). Captain Charles Moore, founder of the Algalita foundation states that we
use two million plastic bottles in the United States every five minutes. Discovered by
Charles Moore in 1997, the Great Pacific Garbage Patch is a prime example of the
amount of plastic pollution that enters the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Amaral). The lack of proper disposal of trash is contributing to the existing problem
of plastic pollution. Without changing our habits, the garbage patch will only
continue to grow (Kostigen).
In Better Planet Garbage Patch , Thomas Kostigen tells his experience of traveling
to the Eastern Garbage Patch to witness this growing problem first hand. Kostigen
describes this area to be one and a half times the United States with a depth of 100
feet or more (Krostigen). The size of this garbage patch is so massive, encompassing
around ten million square miles of the North Pacific Gyre. On the other hand,
according to An Ocean of Plastic , Doucette claims that nobody knows its exact size
or if it has any boundaries at all. (Doucette). Although there have been many
estimations on the size
Hinton 4 of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, the exact size remains unknown. In
addition, Doucette warns us that this patch contains more than ten million tons of
waste. She describes the area to be a fetid swamp of debris where tiny bits of
decaying plastic outweigh zooplankton one of the most prolific and abundant
organisms on the planet by a ration of six to one (Doucette). It is now apparent that
the amount of plastic particles residing in our oceans is damaging the natural habit
and this trash is not going anywhere. Due to the currents in the ocean, plastic particles
are
Relationships, Group Cohesion, Team Norms, And Strength
Introduction:
Throughout organizational behaviors we learned a lot about developing
relationships, group cohesion, and team norms / values. On October 6 and
November 17, we worked together in our teams to complete different activates with
different instructions. For our first challenge we had to build a tower using objects
that we put into a trash bag. We were judged on Beauty, Height, and strength. We had
a certain time frame to build our tours. On November 17 we were paired up with a
different team and instructed to build a bridge. Each team had to start from their own
sides and meet in the middle. The challenge was that only two team members from
each side could talk to each other and communicate about our ideas for constructing
the bridge. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My name was picked out of a cup so I was the only person who could talk to the
other leader in group 3 who was Anh. Anh and I have worked with each other in the
past so we already had a past relationship. What was really unique was that the
leader of the team was randomly picked randomly so I believe this made the task a
little more challenging for each group.
I really liked this exercise because we had put our trust into the other group that we
would build the best bridge and try and win. The first category of trust (Appendix
C) is how much confidence you have you have in other s competence and abilities
(Cohen et al, pg. 223) I had a past relationship with Anh so it was easy for me to
trust her because I know she is a very hard worker and she always got her work don
based on the past relationship. I also worked with some of the members in her
group so I felt confident that my team and I could trust them to get things done.
The others team judgement was very sounds (Cohen et al, pg. 233) . They won the
previous contest so it was easy for us to trust that there judgement was good. My
team trusted Anh and her team because we all had a common goal of winning the
bridge challenge. We were working together and collaborating well together. Anh
and her team were in no way trying to harm our welfare (Cohen et al, pg. 233). Both
teams collaborated and feel through with what we said we were going to do. We
Essay on hannibal
From the middle of the 3rd century to the middle of the 2nd century BC, Carthage
was engaged in a series of wars with Rome (Dorey, P 57). These wars, known as the
Punic Wars, ended in the complete defeat of Carthage by Rome. The most prominent
figure of the Punic wars was General Hannibal of Pheonician Carthage. During these
wars, it s likely that the colonizing expeditions of the Carthaginians were supported
by many emigrants from the Phoenician homeland. Hannibal was the son of the great
Carthaginian general Hamilcar Barca. According to Polybius and Livy, the main
Latin sources for his life, Hannibal was taken to Spain by his father and at an early...

Finally on the 15th day, after a journey of five months from Cartagena, with 20,000
infantry, 6,000 cavalry, and only a few of the original 38 elephants, Hannibal
descended into Italy, having surmounted the difficulties of climate and terrain, the
guerrilla tactics of inaccessible tribes, and the major difficulty of commanding a
body of men diverse in race and language under conditions to which they were ill
fitted (wsu.edu). Hannibal s forces were now totally inadequate to match the army
of Scipio, who had rushed to the Po River to protect the recently founded Roman
colonies of Placentia (modern Piacenza) and Cremona. The first action between
the two armies took place on the plains west of the Ticino River, and Hannibal s
Numidian cavalry prevailed. Scipio was severely wounded, and the Romans
withdrew to Placentia. After manoeuvres failed to lead to a second engagement,
the combined armies of Sempronius Longus and Scipio met Hannibal on the left
bank of the Trebia River south of Placentia and were soundly defeated (December
218). This victory brought both Gauls and Ligurians to Hannibal s side, and his
army was considerably augmented by Celtic recruits. After a severe winter (in which
he contracted an eye infection), he was able to advance in the spring of 217 as far as
the Arno River (wsu.edu). Although two Roman armies were now in the field against
him, he was able to outmanoeuvre that of Gaius Flaminius

  • 1. Essays On Juvenile Delinquency Writing an essay on the subject of juvenile delinquency can present a significant challenge due to the complexity and sensitivity of the topic. This theme delves into the causes, effects, and potential solutions to youth involvement in criminal activities, requiring a comprehensive understanding of various social, psychological, and legal aspects. One of the difficulties lies in navigating the multitude of factors contributing to juvenile delinquency, including family dynamics, socio-economic conditions, peer influences, and mental health issues. Thorough research is crucial to providing an accurate and nuanced analysis of these elements, demanding a substantial investment of time and effort. Furthermore, addressing the ethical considerations surrounding juvenile delinquency is paramount. Balancing the need for effective interventions with a compassionate understanding of the challenges faced by at-risk youth requires careful consideration and nuanced argumentation. Striking the right tone is crucial to avoid stigmatization and oversimplification of the issue. The legal aspect adds another layer of complexity. Understanding the juvenile justice system, its strengths, and shortcomings is vital to proposing viable solutions. Crafting a well-supported argument for potential reforms or improvements necessitates a deep dive into legal frameworks, precedents, and current practices. In conclusion, writing an essay on juvenile delinquency requires a multidimensional approach, combining insights from sociology, psychology, law, and ethics. The ability to synthesize information, present a balanced perspective, and propose meaningful solutions is integral to the success of such an essay. • 2. Behind The Formaldehyde Curtain Having read three essays over the last five days, I can now sincerely say that the way an essay is written is as important as its topic, when we think about its effect on the audience. That s actually why I didn t like Behind the Formaldehyde Curtain even though it was enlightening me about a pretty interesting topic. The writer chose the give the information step by step, and it was quite boring reading twelve pages of concatenated data along with some quotes. Also the sentence: The hands should be cupped slightly for a more lifelike, relaxed appearance (Brady) made me think about death, in all the cultures, it is showed as if dying is a good thing rather than bad. Why do people try to make dead people look better than they really are?... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Judy Brady also used repetitions in Why I Want a Wife such as: I want a wife who will take care of my physical needs. I want a wife who will keep my house clean (Brady), to make her ideas more effective, whereas Jessica Mitford used quotes from experts such as: Mr. John H. Eckels, president of the Eckels College of Mortuary Science, thus describes the first part of the embalming procedure: In the hands of a skilled practitioner, this work may be done in a comparatively short time (Mitford) and Jonathan Swift uses facts such as: The number of souls in this kingdom being usually reckoned one million and a half, of these I calculate there may be about two hundred thousand couple whose wives 35 are breeders (Swift). I believe that using repetitions was the most effective one because it helped creating a dramatic punch while giving the message to the audience. It also occurred to me that all three of the novels aroused interest during the time they were written, probably because the writers opposed the common senses on the topic, instead they presented their ideas from a different point of

The evolution of machines and resources for studying different sciences and disciplines grew fast, and scientists had more opportunities to share their experience and present it to the world. That period was full of new inventions, theories and discoveries that are still important for modern world. Faraday s achievements and renovations place the important branch in the history of science, he was well known and respected. Some of his ideas seemed to be silly for other scientists, but in general they all knew him as a genius with a lot of knowledge. As it was said earlier, he was asked to become the knight twice; he got the important in the Royal Institution, refusing the place of the President of the Royal Society (Hirsheld, 2009). Being a kind person, he had a lot of friends and at the end of his life it helped him more than ever before. Michael Faraday was sick for the last 25 years of his life, being weak and needing help, but his income was extremely low, as his friends noticed. They asked Victoria, the Queen of the United Kingdom, to rise his retire payment and let him live in Hampton Court, free of all expenses and upkeep. Victoria accepted the request and Faraday spent the rest of his life in Middlesex. Remaining a Sandemian, Faraday was buried in the non Anglican section of Highgate

  • 5. Oppression Is The Driving Force Behind The Violence Oppression is the driving force behind the violence in Israel. It is based on a land dispute that led to oppression and now the violence seen today. Israel is plagued with a cycle of violence and fear. There are many factors behind the climate of terror that is taking place in Israel, but none as significant as oppression. The establishment of Israelby Jews led to many changes for Palestinian Arabs, who were already living in the area. Many of these changes were oppressive and intrusive to the Palestinian Arabs way of life. As can be expected, wherever there is oppression, violence and fear normally follow. Both sides have suffered losses amidst this violence. Jews claim they fled to Palestine to avoid persecution and that establishing Israel as a Jewish state would be the only way to ensure their safety. Yet their safety, and now the safety of Palestinian Arabs, are both unsure. In the late 1800 s, Jews across Europe began fleeing to Palestine to avoid anti Semitism and persecution. During this era, there was a movement known as the Zionist; the Zionists wanted to return to the Jewish Holy Land to establish a Jewish state that would serve as a sanctuary for Jews. However, according to the State of Israel Proclaimed (State), at this time the Zionist leadership was unable to persuade the Ottoman Empire to grant them a charter. The following decades would see sporadic migration of Jews into Palestine. World War I brought about more change in Palestine, including
  • 6. To Succeed One Must First Dream in Looking Backwards by... Set in the late 19th and early 21th century, Looking Backwards is a utopian novel discussing the advantages of socialism, a political philosophy that many disenchanted intellectuals of the 19th century believed in. Edward Bellamy, the author, is included in that class ofintellectuals. By being transported to the modern day, Julian West, the protagonist, is able to contrast the two societies he has lived in: the capitalistic 19th centuryand the utopian, socialist 20th century. Julian West, a member of the aristocratic class in Boston, lives an enchanted life among societies most wealthy members. Dumbfounded, Julian thinks his friends are playing a joke on him, but Dr. Leete, one the strangers, confirms that he is really in 2000. To convince Julian, Dr. Leete shows him a glimpse of modern day Boston. Mr. West is amazed at the grandiosity and cleanliness of the new Boston. Wondering how modern day Boston came to be, Julian asks Dr. Leete why, and he explains that the government has consolidated all industries into one industrial army. With the consolidation, social harmony and equality ensued. The reason for the momentous change in society was that, They [19th century poor] believed that the great corporations were preparing for them the yoke of a baser servitude than had ever been imposed on the race, servitude not to men but to soulless machines incapable of any motive but insatiable greed. (Page 30/180) Bellamy emphasizes that the change was a rational and rather simple evolution in humankind. After this complete upheaval in the socio economic systems of the United States, hunger and poverty were eliminated, efficiency in the industrial system was maximised, and citizens were enabled to choose whatever profession they so choose and earn the same amount of pay as their neighbour. Also, Dr. Leete explains that money is no longer needed as it was a only a function of the old, capitalist system. Instead, workers are given credit cards that have holes that can be punched out of them. Once one is

Simulation exercises can be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By thinking ahead, senior managers can implement a process that takes into account the strategic thinking workshop approach put forward by Graetz, (2002, pp. 458 9). The advantage of this approach will be realised when staff from around the world are brought together on a problem solving exercise. It is also necessary to take into account the communicative skill gaps that exist and what type of interpersonal skills are needed, and this is especially true in the ` context of decision making vis a vis strategic alliances, for example (Trim and Lee, 2003). What needs to be understood, however, is how individuals from different cultures relate to people from outside their cultural value system. The key issues which surface are issues such as the appropriate way in which to communicate within the organisation s hierarchy, and if necessary, how to communicate with government representatives. Therefore, training and staff development personnel in international organisations need to identify which ` type of simulation exercises will be most suitable for training staff vis a vis careers in an international organisational setting. Human resource management specialists will, therefore, need to develop staff development programmes that enable an individual employee to develop their skill base continually. This means, according to Blunden (1997, p. 277), that an individual needs to develop an ability to transfer his/her learning and skills from one situation to
  • 9. Business Management Improves the Efficiency of an... Management approaches and practices are core to the concept of business management due to the insight it offers on various aspects of improving the efficiency of organizations. There have been a lot of researchers that have devoted a great deal of time to the study of these practices and approaches. Two very famous amongst these contributors are Fred W. Taylor and Henry Ford. Taylor had advocated that the task and priority of factory managementwas to determine the most efficient way for a worker to do his job, to provide all the necessary equipment and training to complete the job and to make sure that the task at hand is done achieving optimal efficiency by providing workers with incentives. He broke down each job into its individual motions, analyzed the importance of each and then timed the workers with a stopwatch. He then eliminated unnecessary motion and asked the workers to perform machine like routine, which increased the efficiency. On the other hand Fordism was a specific stage of economic development in the 20th century. The term gained popularity as it was recognized by firstly, the system of mass production that was pioneered in the early 20th century by the Ford Motor Company and secondly, the typical postwar mode of economic growth and its associated political and social order that advanced capitalism. In this essay we will critically discuss and analyze the impact of Taylorism and Fordism on contemporary management approaches and practices. As an engineer,
  • 10. Essay on The Flawed King in Shakespeare s Henry V The Flawed King in Shakespeare s Henry V To turn Henry V into a play glorifying war or a play condemning war would be to presume Shakespeare s intentions too much. He does both of these and more in his recount of the historical battle of Agincourt. Although Shakespeare devotes the play to the events leading to war, he simultaneously gives us insight into the political and private life of a king. It is this unity of two distinct areas that has turned the play into a critical no man s land, acrimoniously contested and periodically disfigured by opposing barrages of intellectual artillery (Taylor 1). One may believe that Henry is the epitome of kingly glory, a disgrace of royalty, or think that Shakespeare himself disliked Henry ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Approaching the play through mere historical reconstruction limits the potential for insight into society and threatens to create a stagnant historical account. Although the situation to which the play refers no longer exists, a connection can be made between spectator and stage. The Chorus facilitates this connection. Shakespeare obviously intended that the Chorus help the audience visualize the proceedings of history. The Chorus has a dynamic role in inviting each audience member on a journey through time. They have to assemble for themselves the model ruler of Henry, in accordance with the instructions given, for it would be falsification of history to pretend that [the play] could contain a clear cut and unambiguous ideal (Iser 186). The Chorus provides a sense of individual responsibility in creating an image; a product of the imagination and not a fact of history. The Chorus bridges the gap between the past and the present. The spectator is encouraged to walk on an illusionary plain with Henry and share in his experiences. The communication by the actors is emphasized in this production, as there will be little in terms of stage decor. The Chorus is a dictionary, so to speak, for this new method of a raw and pure rendition of Henry V. It is explicit about how much stage and actors will do, how much the audience must do for itself (Beauman 6). Think, when we talk of
  • 11. Macbeth and the Power of Persuasion Persuasion is a powerful and threatening tool against those who are weak. It can sway one s decisions between good and evil, concealing judgment and jading the conscience. It plays the critical role of a spectral villain, an invisible danger to the protagonist in William Shakespeare s Macbeth. Macbethis a victim of persuasion of others, making him ultimately not responsible for his actions. Macbeth s own partner Lady Macbeth persuades her husband to commit murder and fulfill his ambition. Persuasion is a process that is effective only on the weak spirited. When Macbeth learns of his future, his weaknesses and ambition are exposed to us: The Prince of Cumberland: that is a step on which I must fall down, or else o er leap, for in my way it lies. (1.4.49 51). Macbeth yearns for his seat on the throne. He is already a very respectable man. He is the noble, loyal, and worthy Thane of Glamis (and Cawdor, which he is currently unaware of) as well as a valorous soldier, but Macbeth is still completely absorbed in the witches prophecies and even considers killing the example of innocence and goodness, King Duncan. He is full of greed and ambition, only lacking the evil to fulfill his lust for the power that resides in the throne of Scotland. These qualities make Macbeth a weak and easy man to persuade and corrupt, ultimately leading him into madness, his decline, and lastly his death. Alongside these flaws, the power of the supernatural and man s weakness of pride will ensure that the fall of Macbeth will be inevitable. Hecate, the Queen of Witches explains to her subordinates how they will lead him to his doom in this exact fashion: And that distilled by magic sleights, Shall raise such artificial sprites, As by the strength of their illusion, Shall draw him on to his confusion. He shall spurn fate, scorn death, and bear His hopes bove wisdom, grace, and fear; And you all know security Is
  • 12. King Louis Xiv And The Sun King King Louis XIV of France was known as Louis the Great or the Sun King because he ruled with such strength and power. King Louis XIV, also known as the Sun King, was a helpful leader in France. King Louis XIV had the longest reign in European history, reigning from 1643 to 1715. King Louis XIV was an effective ruler politically, religiously, socially, and artistically. Louis XIV ruled with an iron fist, which many would come to criticize him for this, but it is one of his strong points. Another weak point of the king s was his in ability to stay out of conflicts. This caused France to suffer greatly economically. King Louis XIV ruled by the saying One king, one law, one faith. In doing so he was able to help France. He accomplished one king and one law , by restricting the power of others, and by uniting the religion of the state, he attained one faith . Louis XIV was an absolutist leader, and centered the country around himself, by doing so, he was capable of building a strong and centralized monarchy and helping France. Politically, King Louis XIV was successful in helping France by ruling with absolute power. Louis XIV took power away from others, such as the parliament, and put it all into his control. This was successful because at the time, France needed structure, and Louis was able to provide that. Louis ruled firmly. He did not allow anyone to challenge his power, and if they did do so, they would be punished. Another key point in Louis

Comparing Shakespeare s Sonnet 18 with To his Coy Mistress by Andrew Marvell I will be comparing two poems, Shall I Compare Thee...? with To His Coy Mistress , I will examine the purposes of each poem and the techniques used by the two poets to convey ideas and to achieve purposes. Sonnet 18 was written by William s Shakespeare between 1564 and 1616. The poem To his Coy Mistress was written by Andrew Marvell. The Purposes of the two poems are different, the purpose of Sonnet 18 is for Shakespeare to write this poem for a girl or woman he likes, to praise her by comparing her to wonderful things in life, such a Summer, also to grant her immortality through lines of the poem; meaning as long as the poem will exist and be... He also associates the passing of time with her beauty fading, to make her more self conscious and see that she should have sex with him beauty fades and she becomes ugly, then nobody will have sex with her. He uses fear tactics throughout the poem to persuade her to have sex with him; this affects the mood of the poem making it more threatening and tenser. For example; To talk and pass our long love s day In line 11, Marvell talks about sex using phallic imagery when saying vegetable love , this makes it humorous which will affect the mood making it less tense and relaxing. Marvell uses many different tactics, such as exaggeration, by comparing her to the Indian Ganges; Thou by the Indian Ganges side This affects the mood of the poem making it flattery, imagery such as this will flatter the girl and persuade her to have sex with him, and this establishes that this technique is persuasive. Marvell is Romantic in the poem in line 19; For, lady, you deserve this state This makes this part of the poem calm and sensitive, which contrasts to the following verses of the poem as they are threatening and

This was the time of the Transcontinental Railroad. In my paper I will explain the purpose of the railroad, challenges the workers faced, and the results of the finished railroad. To start, I will explain the purpose of the Transcontinental railroad. In Source #1 Full Steam Ahead The Transcontinental Railroad , it says People had been asking for coast to coast rail travel for decades. Since the invention of the locomotive in 1825, companies had built many rail lines. These railroads connected eastern cities and seaports, splashing travel times and helping these areas grow. Crossing the country, however was much more difficult. People and trade goods traveled by horse, stagecoach, or wagon train. The trip took months. Not many made the journey. So the government during the time thought that building a railroad, would help businesses sprout up like corn. According to Source #1 it also says Two companies immediately got to work. Railroads already existed that stretched from the East of Omaha, Nebraska. Now, the Union Pacific Railroad began extending the tracks from Omaha out to the West. The Central Pacific Railroadbegan in Sacramento,California and laid tracks out East. Eventually, the two companies would meet in Promontory, Utah. So, basically the purpose of the railroad was to get people and goods from coast to coast. Next I will talk
  • 15. A Theory Of Justice, By Immanuel Kant John Rawls is a world renowned, American political philosopher of the twentieth century. His views on the state of nature, society, and politics were much more distinct from previous philosophers, and his more modern or progressive life experiences can contribute to the separation between him and others, such as Aristotle, Hobbes, or Rousseau. However, he does have certain ideas and point of views that correlate with the views of those that Immanuel Kant expresses, and more specifically Rawls was greatly influenced by Immanuel Kant by his conclusions in moral philosophy and autonomous law. Rawls takes both from historical knowledge and modern experiences to shape his ideas, and he articulates them through one of his most influential books, A Theory of Justice. Through this book he describes the structure or origin of the social contract tradition in a different view by arguing on behalf of political society through a more liberalism tradition. For example, one of his most distinct views is the role of an original positionin the social contractThe original position is a model of impartiality is based from the veil of ignorance , the principle of rational within individuals, and the idea that individuals choose from self interest, and as such the individuals who derive the social contract will obtain the most just, equal, and fair society in all political, social and economic aspects of society. We illustrate this by coming together as a group one again to accomplish the goal we initially wanted to accomplish. Since the first organization that we had chosen was incorrect, so we had to make the necessary changes to accomplish our goals. The other effective feature is the purpose of the group. Kozier et al (2010) stated that the effective group purpose is when goal, task, and outcomes are clarified. Understanding and modified so that members of the group can commit themselves to purposes through cooperation (p.401). For instance, each individual was assign a task and knew what was to be accomplished. As group we all decided to meet at suitable day and time which was beneficial to all team members, because we could commit to the group and focus on what needed to be achieved. Even though the group had a lot of effective features, it wasn t smooth sailing all the time. The team also had ineffective features like the atmosphere and power. • 17. The Role Of Religion In The Vampire Chronicles By Anne Rice The Vampire Lestat, the second book in The Vampire Chronicles, is a dark romantic novel written by Anne Rice. It is an autobiographical story told by Lestat de Lioncourt as a response to Interview with the Vampire. He wrote it in hopes that Louis would read it and return to him and as an act of rebellion against vampire secrecy rules. Much like Interview with the Vampire, The Vampire Lestat also questions the vampire s role in religion. In The Vampire Lestat, Rice challenges the concept of religion with the Children of Darkness. The Children of Darkness were bound together by the Dark Ways. They believed if they failed to follow the Dark Ways, then they would burn in hell. They lived miserable lives underneath a cemetery in Paris, where they worshiped Satan. When an old woman threatened Lestat and Gabrielle with the wrath of God, Lestat told the vampires the only beings giving them trouble for the way they lived were the coven. They were paralyzed for a moment. Why hadn t we been struck dead when we entered the churches? How could we be what we were? (214). The Children of Darkness were in shock because Lestat s statement challenged the information they knew as true. As I read about this issue, I felt sympathy for the Indigenous peoples, as it was overwhelming for me to find out that this much discrimination has occurred in a nation as diverse and developed as Canada. Reading more about colonization helped me to make connections between the issues and topics I have learned about in class, and how they can be traced back to European contact with the Indigenous peoples. The Colonial powers in Canada rested in the hands of the British and the French, who declared sovereignty over the territories which rightfully belonged to the Indigenous peoples (Cochrane et al. 70). The worst effect of colonialismis the exploitation, domination, and subjugation of the people by the imperial power (Cochrane et al. 71). Due to the fact that their rights were determined solely by the white society s rules, one of the only governance options left for Indigenous peoples was to become independent of the Canadian state (Cochrane et al. 87). The Royal Proclamation Act of 1763 guaranteed the protection of lands for Indians under the Crown, and required any colonists occupying Indian lands without the permission of the crown to evacuate; however, these rights to Indians have been much ignored (Cochrane et al. 70). During post confederation, several treaties numbered 1 11 were created to allow aboriginals to claim land titles,

Though the war concluded in a stalemate between opposing sides of Britain and America with the ratification of the Treaty of Ghent, the Native Americans were the true losers of the war, as the end marked the loss of indigenous independence (Phillips 114). However, not all Native Americans had retreated further into the West large tribes still dotted United States territory and continued to threaten American growth and economic prosperity promised with Western expansion (Welch 32). The Indian Removal Act, passed in Congress on May 26, 1830, supported the eager desires of Americans in allowing the access of western lands no longer in the possession of Native Americans (Kessel 371). In Andrew Jackson s second annual message to Congress, delivered on December 6, 1830, Jackson stated that: The consequences of a speedy removal will be important to the United States, to individual States, and to the Indians themselves... This means that the sentence structure of Twain s writing is composed of sentences with more than one subject or predicate, usually run on sentences broken apart by semi colons. These types of sentences tend to be followed by short sentences or fragments at the end of each paragraph, creating a pattern in sentence and paragraph structure. For instance, in The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, the author states, Jim said he bet she did think of it by the time the men was ready to start, and he believed they must a gone up town to get a dog and so they lost all that time, or else we wouldn t ... This means that the syntax presented is a good representation of the language and style of speaking in the mid 1800s. In the short story by Twain, there is a series of run on sentences separated by many semi colons in the first paragraph, and the last sentence stated, If that was the design, it certainly succeeded (Twain 1). This short sentence provides simplicity in contrast to the long sentences previous that are more difficult to understand, because generally, they tend to be very wordy. The syntax of the two passages similarly contributes variation in the structure of paragraphs. It is obvious that Twain, the author of both the noveland short story, has a specific style of writing that helps highlight the different tones of

Cuba is currently described as a developing country and when exploring this countries history it became clear why they are considered so. At the moment, the population is decreasing at a rate of 3% according to cia.gov. According to prb.org, the birth rate per thousand is eleven and death rate per thousand is nine which can lead one to infer that the rate of natural increase, is 2 per 1000(or .2%). Something that can be taken away from these stats is that the rate of natural increase is positive while the rate of populationgrowth is negative. The reason for this is an irrational number of young people who leave this country.According prb.org, the net migration rate is 5. This means that for every 1000 people in the country, five people leave. This number is not supposed to be negative; however, it is because of how many people leave this country. Most of the people leaving are the young people who will end up having children. This becomes a problem because if all of the people who are of childbearing age leave and have children elsewhere, there are no young people to help offset the old population. According to the site havannatimes.org, The combination of young people leaving the country and low birth rates makes Cuban society endure a population aging process. The change process takes hold and its successes are publicized, support will spread to others who typically wait and see whether they should commit to the initiative. Last to commit to the efforts are the hard core resisters, some of whom will never support the change process because of personal agendas. A clear and concise motivating vision is needed to inspire a large number of employees to change. People need to know why change is desirable, why they should make the effort to support it, and what it will achieve. The change can be very painful to some employees whose jobs may require new skills, transfers or even elimination. The motivating vision should be sufficiently concrete so that people can understand what it means and why the change is necessary, but not so rigid that it has no room to evolve. • 29. Taiwan And China International Relations Essay The goal of studying international politics is to create generalizable conclusions about the relationships at the international level. That is, there is a scientific method used to understand how the world works. The three main methods for understanding how the world works are realism, liberalism, and constructivism. The purpose of this paper is to explain the components of the main theories and apply them to the relationship between Taiwan and China, and the likelihood, or lack thereof, of another great power war. The dispute arose from the Chinese nationalists fleeing to the island of Taiwan after Mao Zedong and his communist revolution took over mainland China. The conflict here is whether or not the independence of Taiwan will be recognized or the People s Republic of Chinawill seek to invade Taiwan and assert its dominance over it, thus creating a possibility of war with the United States. Liberalism is the best theory in international relations because it best explains the situation in Taiwan and presents the best generalizable conclusion for how the relationships between states work. The first theory, realism, is concerned with only survival and power in international relations. This is because realists assume that states are rational, unitary actors in a state of Hobbesian anarchy whose preferences are mutually conflictual. Hobbesian anarchy is a terrible state in which every actor cares only for their own survival. This means that under this state, all actors

Campaign professionals refer to voter mobilization efforts as GOTV which means get out the vote or ground game. They use door to door campaigning methods, phone banks, and e mails. You want to outline your campaign strategy and you want to keep it focused. Fundraising is an important part of any campaign in the beginning. You can use professional consultants or you can talk with a consultant who is working on multiple races. There is also a number of staff members that can work with you on fundraising. During fundraising, the staff will do things like drafting and supervising mail and Emil fundraising efforts. They work with people to hold fundraising events and they make call lists and meetings with potential donors to the candidate. It can also be nice to have an accountant. If you have an accountant, they can keep track of everything like funds raised, budget details, and how much cash is on hand. The campaign staff is also a crucial part of the campaign organization. You will need a campaign manager to coordinate the operations of the campaign. You need the political consultants which help advise the campaigns on what they do. They also do the research on the voters and the

The institute s influence on many Christian individuals cannot be overlooked. The many adults and teenagers have been taught that the earth is young and there is no evolution. It would be incorrect to say that the institute should get all the credit for developing, researching, and spreading the ideas, but it had a significant role. The sole purpose of the Institute of Creation Research s existence as outlined on their website was and is to conduct scientific research within the realms of origins and earth history, and then to educate the public both formally and informally through graduate and professional training programs, through conferences and seminars around the country, and through books, magazines, and media presentations. The research institute works in many different fields such as looking at earth science or life science. Throughout any kind of research, the institution mainly focuses on the validity of the Bible and the use of scripture to explain science. As the the institute states, ICR is committed to the absolute authority of the inerrant Word of God. It believes that science can only agree with the Bible because God made the world. Therefore, since science correlates with the Bible, Genesis 1 11 must be factual and historical. This would mean that the six days
  • 38. The Effects Of Fossil Fuels On The United States In the United States, a sustainable society is desired by virtually every citizen, especially the ones informed of the consequences caused by our wanton use of fossil fuels and the detrimental methods used to extract them from the earth. Nevertheless, despite almost universal acceptance of the need to turn away from nonrenewable and polluting energy sources, there are forces preventing that switch. One of those forces is the megalith that is our current energy paradigm, or the existing energy production /consumption infrastructure that we ve built which runs largely on nonrenewable resources. Yet, as daunting as a transition to a world run on renewable energies like solar, an energy source with significant growth potential, may seem from a technological and logistical standpoint, it is eminently feasible. The most problematic hurdle the United States faces is, in truth, political stagnation. While intense lobbying efforts from the fossil fuelindustry and public utilities don t help, the gridlock caused by the inherent framework of the U.S. political system is principally to blame for governmental malaise when it comes to investing in green technology. However, with increasing concerns over environmental degradation and impending climate change, progress has been made. The U.S. Department of Energy (USDE) has appointed 25 cities across the country to be part of its Solar America City initiative, including Philadelphia. Philadelphia, which aims to become the leading city in

The interior design of the sport complex was amazing although it seemed like a jail. The pool reminded me about the same pool during Frasers swim meet. The vast poolwas filled with swimmers diving in and climbing out of the lanes. We had a bit of time to rest before the first event started so we made use of the time to practice. Luckily, the individual medleys were the first events to start off the 2015 High SchoolSwimming Provincials swim meet and I didn t have to swim until event 29. Luckily, I was going to be the last one to swim since I was swimming freestyle in the 100m mixed relay. The referee shouted, On Your Mark....Get Set, and the same deafening buzz pierced my eardrums. The swimmers dove into the water like dolphins and swam towards the other side and back like mad sharks. As I stepped up onto the platform, my heartbeat quickened and sweat dripped down from my head as I got ready to jump just as my teammate slammed into the wall. Bending my knees and pushing off to gain as much power as I could get, I splashed into the cold and freezing water that I haven t touched in hours. My arms would not slow down take a rest. Constantly, my head spun from side to side so I could glare at the swimmers beside me who were trying so hard to pass me. Speeding towards the other side, I pulled my legs in and did a flip turn. Unfortunately, water rushed into my nose as I forcefully pushed off the wall. The two swimmers beside me were just a few inches in front of me! My legs quickened its movement to boost myself to catch up to those two. However, instead of speeding up, I slowed down and eventually lost to both of them and ended up getting third in my heat. When I reached the bleachers, Mr. Tustin was still there. Water drops left my wet hair like children jumping off diving boards. I was dissatisfied with my time. I had only achieved a 50m freestyle time of 32 seconds. I had also let my

In 1947, Atlantic Records was created by Ahmet Ertegunand Herb Abramson in New York City (Callahan and Edwards). This would end up being one of the biggest and most important achievements in music history. As discussed in the previous paragraph, Atlantic Records was able to incorporate many different kinds of genres into their label making them unique compared to their competitors. Callahan and Edwards describe the jazz musicians that they had as giants , such as Lester Young and Sidney Bechet. The fact that they were able to have connections with these giants shows that from the start, they appealed to the big stars and I believe this showed they were destined for stardom. Atlantic Records also produced multiple #1 hits in the R B category in the 1950 s (Callahan and Edwards). In the late 1950 s and throughout the 1960 s, Atlantic Records created many big soul hits as well (Callahan and Edwards). This record company was able to do it all. Another big time period was from 1953 1955 when pop artists started to cover R B songs (Callahan and Edwards). Atlantic Records was able to jump on this new trend and this became a big part of their success and continued fame (Callahan and Edwards). The ability to capitalize on market trends is important in all facets of business and Atlantic Record showed that they were smart in running the business. Atlantic Records had a great relationship

This is an important issue to focus on because almost half of UK has had some form of mental illness(). For the purpose of this background report, I shall focus on how the government has funded and dealt with mental illness. Considering that mental illness is an important issue, I would like to explore the state of mental health care, especially during the coalition period from 2011. We live in a world where for some have to work so hard everyday just to survive society. In the book Make Lemonade by Virginia Euwer Wolff the environment isn t stable for a lot of people. There is poverty and crime surrounding the area and this makes it hard on everyone to be, and feel secure in their own environment. Throughout the book Jolly s and LaVaughn s environment changes involuntarily. Once they both accept what they can and cannot control their environments effect begins to be positive. Before the book takes place both Jolly and LaVaughn had a different environment growing up. Their environment shaped them to be the people we met in the beginning of the book. In the beginning of the book LaVaughn shares a memory from when she was little with her mom. In this memory when LaVaughn asked her mom if she could go to college her mom said, Nobody in this building... ever went to college, nobody in my family... somebody got to be the first right? From this moment on LaVaughn s main priority was to get good grades so that she could get into college, and LaVaughn s mom s priority was to make sure LaVaughn worked hard for good grades. This moment and the impact of this moment shaped who LaVaughn is in the beginning of the book. Also when talking about her life now and as a child LaVaughns says, ... we pay our rent exactly on time and we have insurance benefits from her (LaVaughn s mom) job and we go to the

According to the article Plastic Bags Wars , the world consumes 1 million plastic shopping bags every minute . Plastic bags, along with many other types of plastics, have become a leading source of pollution worldwide (Doucette). The lack of proper disposal of trash is contributing to the existing problem of plastic pollution. Without changing our habits, the garbage patch will only continue to grow (Kostigen). In Better Planet Garbage Patch , Thomas Kostigen tells his experience of traveling to the Eastern Garbage Patch to witness this growing problem first hand. Kostigen describes this area to be one and a half times the United States with a depth of 100 feet or more (Krostigen). The size of this garbage patch is so massive, encompassing around ten million square miles of the North Pacific Gyre. On the other hand, according to An Ocean of Plastic , Doucette claims that nobody knows its exact size or if it has any boundaries at all. (Doucette). Although there have been many estimations on the size Hinton 4 of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, the exact size remains unknown. In addition, Doucette warns us that this patch contains more than ten million tons of waste. She describes the area to be a fetid swamp of debris where tiny bits of decaying plastic outweigh zooplankton one of the most prolific and abundant organisms on the planet by a ration of six to one (Doucette). It is now apparent that the amount of plastic particles residing in our oceans is damaging the natural habit and this trash is not going anywhere. Due to the currents in the ocean, plastic particles are

Relationships, Group Cohesion, Team Norms, And Strength Introduction: Throughout organizational behaviors we learned a lot about developing relationships, group cohesion, and team norms / values. On October 6 and November 17, we worked together in our teams to complete different activates with different instructions. For our first challenge we had to build a tower using objects that we put into a trash bag. We were judged on Beauty, Height, and strength. We had a certain time frame to build our tours. On November 17 we were paired up with a different team and instructed to build a bridge. Each team had to start from their own sides and meet in the middle. The challenge was that only two team members from each side could talk to each other and communicate about our ideas for constructing the bridge. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My name was picked out of a cup so I was the only person who could talk to the other leader in group 3 who was Anh. Anh and I have worked with each other in the past so we already had a past relationship. What was really unique was that the leader of the team was randomly picked randomly so I believe this made the task a little more challenging for each group. I really liked this exercise because we had put our trust into the other group that we would build the best bridge and try and win. The first category of trust (Appendix C) is how much confidence you have you have in other s competence and abilities (Cohen et al, pg. 223) I had a past relationship with Anh so it was easy for me to trust her because I know she is a very hard worker and she always got her work don based on the past relationship. I also worked with some of the members in her group so I felt confident that my team and I could trust them to get things done. The others team judgement was very sounds (Cohen et al, pg. 233) . They won the previous contest so it was easy for us to trust that there judgement was good. My team trusted Anh and her team because we all had a common goal of winning the bridge challenge. We were working together and collaborating well together. Anh and her team were in no way trying to harm our welfare (Cohen et al, pg. 233). These wars, known as the Punic Wars, ended in the complete defeat of Carthage by Rome. The most prominent figure of the Punic wars was General Hannibal of Pheonician Carthage. During these wars, it s likely that the colonizing expeditions of the Carthaginians were supported by many emigrants from the Phoenician homeland. Finally on the 15th day, after a journey of five months from Cartagena, with 20,000 infantry, 6,000 cavalry, and only a few of the original 38 elephants, Hannibal descended into Italy, having surmounted the difficulties of climate and terrain, the guerrilla tactics of inaccessible tribes, and the major difficulty of commanding a body of men diverse in race and language under conditions to which they were ill fitted (wsu.edu). Hannibal s forces were now totally inadequate to match the army of Scipio, who had rushed to the Po River to protect the recently founded Roman colonies of Placentia (modern Piacenza) and Cremona. The first action between the two armies took place on the plains west of the Ticino River, and Hannibal s Numidian cavalry prevailed. Scipio was severely wounded, and the Romans withdrew to Placentia. After manoeuvres failed to lead to a second engagement, the combined armies of Sempronius Longus and Scipio met Hannibal on the left bank of the Trebia River south of Placentia and were soundly defeated (December 218). This victory brought both Gauls and Ligurians to Hannibal s side, and his army was considerably augmented by Celtic recruits. After a severe winter (in which he contracted an eye infection), he was able to advance in the spring of 217 as far as the Arno River (wsu.edu). Although two Roman armies were now in the field against him, he was able to outmanoeuvre that of Gaius Flaminius
