There are different types of energy including potential, kinetic, radiation, conduction, and convection. Potential energy is stored energy not currently being used, like a child on a slide. Kinetic energy is stored energy that has been released, like a unicorn riding down a mountain. Radiation involves heat transfer from hotter to cooler objects without direct contact. Conduction requires direct contact to transfer heat or energy. Convection uses rising fluids like air or water to transfer heat. An airplane has more potential energy when higher and more kinetic energy when faster.
