Analysis Of The Current Energy Productions And...
Response paper # 4
GEOG 473
SPRING 2016
Chad (Jong H) Lee
Historically, most of the current energy productions and distribution systems are centrally
controlled regardless whether it is operated by government or private sectors. Not to mention
most of the current government policies on those energy sectors are highly tailored of the
centralized structure. Part of the reasons I can think of that is because the framework of the
current energy model is largely focused on a big scale energy system. Although this is not
necessarily mean bad, but there are also some disadvantages when we only focus on big scale
energy systems. A couple of good examples are hydroelectric and nuclear power. While these two
sources of energy produce energy in completely different ways, they are traditionally massive in
its scale. Hydroelectric power is the oldest energy source. From a small water wheel to a
massive dam, humans have been used many of them for a long time. Since the principles of the
technology in hydroelectric plant are relatively simple and using flowing water, it is one of the
most widely used, as key energy source worldwide, and supplying electricity much like at the
national scale in many counties. While many large scale hydroelectric dams continue to be built in
many parts of the world, it is unlikely U.S. will add more of them in the future. One of the reasons
is the arising consensus of its environmental impacts to the natures. Unlike a small scale
hydroelectric dam, a

Human Dissection Essay
Though dissections have been occurring since humans first began seeking knowledge, it has often
been done in secret. Among them (means of obtaining human subjects for dissection) are the
bodies of the executed, bodies stolen from graveyards, unclaimed bodies from poorhouses,
hospitals and prisons, the bodies of suicides or duelists, and the bodies of persons murdered for the
purpose of dissection(Hildebrandt p.2). These unconventional means were necessary until in the
late 13th century and early 14th century Europe, dissection of the bodies of executed criminals
was legalized (Perloff p. 6) but there has been a long standing opposition of the church to human
dissections, especially the Roman empire. As per research of Mary Niven Alston,... Show more

Andreas Vesalius was the most influential component of the field of anatomy in modern time. After
the time he graduated from the University of Padua he became a professor but demanded he be
allowed to dissect which was untraditional because of the traditional lecture with barber surgeon
dissection format. He travelled around Europe doing public dissections where he began noticing his
observations did not match the material he was taught. In 1543 he published the results of his
disagreements with Galen, a new method, and a new philosophy in De humani corporis fabrica...
Vesalius showed that the liver was not five lobed but one mass, that men did not have one less rib
and women one more, that nerves were not hollow, and that bones were a dynamic foundation of
the human body (Ede 124). One of the most important aspects was the illustrations. It contains over
600 engravings. The different volumes address the skeleton, the muscles, the vascular and the
nervous systems, the abdomen, the thorax, and the brain. The book devoted to the muscles
contained a series of images showing successively uncovered muscular layers. Notably, the human
figures were presented in natural, rather than schematic, poses (Dominiczak p. 5). This rejection of

Biopsy Case Studies
Siblings should be screened for the disease (by measuring ceruloplasmin, urine copper and liver
biopsy if is necessary) and until adulthood followed up unless WD has been denied by genetic
analysis. 24 hour urine copper excretion Most symptomatic patients (80 90%) will have urine
copper 100 Вµg / 24h, which is diagnostic for Wilson disease (31). However levels of 40 100 Вµg
/ 24h may be seen in some cases. About 50% of presymptomatic patients who are ultimately
diagnosed as affected have urine values in an intermediate range between 60 100 Вµg/24h.
Because heterozygotes may have values up to 80 Вµg / 24h urine (but never 100), patients in this
range may require liver biopsy for definite diagnosis. Measurement of increased cuperuresis after
the administration of penicillamine has not shown to be more sensitive than an unenhanced 24 h
collection for copper. Others noted that this test... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because of some confounding factors interpretation the results is hard. In addition, higher levels
may also be found in acute liver failure or chronic cholestasis. Therefore, it has limited utility.
Furthermore, because 90% of copper is carried by ceruloplasmin and the latter is generally
reduced in WD, serum copper values alone may be misleadingly normal. In addition serum
levels of copper may be elevated during pregnancy or stress conditions since ceruloplasmin is an
acute phase reactant and 90% of circulating copper is carried by ceruloplasmin. Serum
Ceruloplasmin The normal value of ceruloplasmin ranges from 20 to 40 mg/dL. Levels below 18
mg/dL can be suggestive for WD. Low or absent ceruloplasmin is reported in 96% of patients (23),
that results in decreased total serum copper and increased free copper. Low levels can be found in
1% of normal population and 10% of heterozygotes or carriers (Table2). So, low seruloplasmin is

Illyrian Research Paper
Colonization of Illyria The Illyrians The Illyrians are the ancestors of today s modern Albanians,
and were an Indo European people. This group first migrated into the area between the Adriatic Sea
and Sava River during the Middle to Late Bronze age circa 2000 1200 BC (Harding, 1992:17;
Srejovic, 1998:14; StipcМЊevicМЃ, 1977;Wilkes, 1992:37 39). The Illyrian domain would grow
to cover the western Balkans, between the Middle Danube valley, and the Adriatic Sea (Harding,
1992; Wilkes, 1992:92). Today this expanse is made up of, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo,
Slovenia, Macedonia, Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro, and of course Albania. The Illyrians began to
populate much of this region during the Middle to Late Bronze age circa 2000 1200 BC
(Harding, 1992:17; Srejovic, 1998:14; Wilkes, 1992:37 39). Even though the term Illyrian referred
to a single tribe, it soon became synonymous to all who were similar both culturally and
linguistically (Srejovic, 1998:14). Their language is distinctive from Greeks, Macedonians, and the
Thracians, which is beneficial when identifying the various Illyrian districts (Harding, 1992:16;...

This change would mean that larger swaths of farmland were needed for the expanding Greek
population in the area (Galaty, 2002:121). The Greeks annexation of coastal regions,
unfortunately took away prime winter grazing lands from the Illyrians. The changeover in land
usage created a ripple effect to the traditional Illyrian way of life (Galaty, 2002:121; Hammond,
1992:37). As colonization of the area progressed, some of the Illyrian population became serfs to
the Greeks in the area (Galaty, 2002:119; Hammond, 1992:32; Wilkes, 1992:109). For others
instead of remaining as pastoralists moving from one area to another, they began to settle in one
location choosing to become miners, farmers, and breeders of livestock (Srejovic,

The Aeschylus Trilogy And Sweat By Lynn Nottage
The Aeschylus Trilogy and Sweat by Lynn Nottage, though written thousands of years apart,
actually share the same underlying problems especially when it comes the the characters that drive
the plot. In both plays, there is this very prominent character trait found in most, if not all, the
characters, selfishness. These self centered characters actually create conflict simply by only
thinking of themselves. The self centered and selfish air in both time periods, whether brought up
by individual characters or even character groups, drives the plot in both the Aeschylus Trilogy and
Sweat. The mythical story of Agamemnonopens with an air of hope and fear as the very weary
watchmen and city of Argos wait for the fall of Troy, a war that has been going on for ten years.
After the signal is seen, Agamemnon s wife Clytemnestra, who has been ruling in his absence,
appears from her home and tells the city the great news, they have won the war. Agamemnon arrives
home and has brought the captured Trojan princess Cassandra, his concubine. Clytemnestra falsely
welcomes him with gifts that will lead him to his death. After also being welcomed, Cassandra,
moves into a state of frenzy, foreshadowing to Agamemnon s murder and her own. She enters the
house, knowing it will lead to her death. Thc cries of the dying Agamemnon are heard by many,
when the palace is revealed, Clytemnestra is joyfully standing over the bodies of her victims. She
answers the elders charges by claiming justice

Whole Foods Management Style Analysis
Co Founder and Co CEO Johm Mackey of poplar chain grocer Whole Foods has a very simplistic
but effective management strategy. Mackey believes that it s managements job to hire good
people and because of that these employees will provide better customer serivce (Kinicki Kreitner,
2013, pg. 30). After reading Mr. Mackey s interview in our text I would compare his management
style to that of the McGregor s Theory Y. McGregor s third section of Theory Y best demonstrates
Whole Foodsrole in management. Section three covers how people generally become committed
to organizational objectives if they are rewarded for doing so (Kinicki Kreitner, 2013, pg. 9). I
believe Mackey s beliefs towards organizational behavior and management is more realistic and
fair for both leaders and employees. Whole Foods uses the Theory Y strategy throughout their
nationwide chain and obviously success is evident with the continued growth of the organization.
One may wonder how large organizations operate in the confines of Theory Y? Meeker accounted
in his article entitled Theory Y: Another Look states that even in the absence of leadership and his

Seeking Your True Self in the Virtual World
The question of identity has always been a central theme for many, in particular the youth. Today,
as we enter a new age of Internet technology, the quest for defining oneself has shifted online. While
many, especially the younger generation, embrace the liberation that digital communities offer,
others are apprehensive of the dangers that lurk in the virtual world. The anxiety is not entirely
unjustified. Nevertheless, the truth is the benefits that accompany online communities far outweigh
its drawbacks. According to Daniel Chandler, author of Identities under Construction , and Danah
Boyd, an American researcher known for her works on social network sites, online tools such as
personal home page and MySpaceare efficacious instruments... Show more content on

The misrepresentation and manipulation of one s identity is an ongoing concern for many.
Chandler cites that some critics are alarmed by the excessive manipulation of public identities. In
support, Boyd bought up the issue of staged imagery not truly representative of one s behaviors.
Despite the fact that the vast majority of online users tend to portray a polished self representation
by ridding the undesirable aspects, there are some others that are utterly unpretentious. They
frequently include details in their Web pages that are not glamorizing, but are what they felt
necessary to paint a more genuine picture of themselves.
There are still some who constructed online identities not for the pursuit of self definition, but for
others to come to terms with a side of themselves that they have difficulty disclosing face to face.
Chandler presents two examples in which two gay personal home page authors use their website to
inform others about their homosexuality. One of them, Rob, mentioned that people can consider
his side of the story before reacting (Chandler, 2004).
Staying Connected
One reason why so many people are fascinated with online communities is the ability to socialize
not only with immediate circle of friends, but with a much broader secondary network of peers and
people with a shared interest. In addition, tools such as MySpace provide them the capacity to be
constantly connected to their

Examples Of Mcmurphy In One Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest
In dark times mankind often finds itself looking to a higher power for help or guidance. A sort
of savior to save them from whatever horrid situations soceity drops on them and bring them to
better times. A perfect example of this is in Ken Kesey s One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest.
Where R.P McMurphy is portrayed as a Christ like figure there to save the ward and guide them
from hellish place it is. To guide them from The processed control of the combine and of the
devilish Nurse Ratched. Throughout the novel, Kesey alludes to all of the hell like characteristics

Do I get a crown of thorns? Here he makes a direct reference to the crucifixion of Jesus and the

her ripping her shirt off and forever dwindling her power over the men in this ward. We couldn t
stop him because we were the ones making him do it , this was one of McMurphy s biggest
allusion to the Bible (p. 318). The men of the ward, needed action from McMurphy to be saved,

Conceptual Analysis Of Public Disclosure Working
5.Conceptual analysis of public disclosure working in Pakistan
5.1Information Quality
The problem that exists in Pakistan under the current system is the lack of environmental
information that could create a drive towards improvement. There exists the classic principal agent
problem with regulators needing good data about firm s pollution levels, but the firms do not have a
medium or drive of providing such information. This information asymmetry is addressed through
introducing instruments such as the TRI or PROPER, which provides a platform for information
collection and usage. It will indeed incentivise firms an incentive to improve their public image in
the cheapest way available to them (Grafton et al, 2004).

As Hibbard et al (2003) mentions that for a reputational damage model to work, data must be
widely disseminated and easily understandable with rankings provided for evaluation of
performance. Although US did not face the same challenge, Indonesia, being a low income country
had challenges to cater the data interpretation problem. PROPER has wisely combined multiple set
of environmental indicators into a color coded scheme through technical support from international
agencies such as the World Bank, to increase public understanding (Kanungo and Torres, n.d.;
Ardiansyah, 2014). This transformation of public environmental communication in Indonesia has
proven to be a breakthrough in its environmental policy and holds a promising example for Pakistan
to apply. Raising awareness through campaigns and disseminating the information to the public
using the broad print and electronic media network will grant easy access and develop public
interest to use such information.
Generally, it becomes difficult to identify the source of pollution among various firms gathered in
an industrial area. To quantitatively record such data is challenging, especially for developing
economies. The emission data for TRI is self reported and little is done to check its accuracy. The
US easily compiled, processed and transmitted the information under the given institutional
structure and

The Trinity Doctrine Of God
Though the word Trinity is not explicitly found in the Bible, the teaching that there are three
individual personalities of divine nature (known in the New Testament as the Father, Son, and Holy
Spirit) is thoroughly scriptural and has been generally acknowledged by the writers of Christendom
since the apostolic age.
Around A.D. 190, Theodotus of Byzantium advocated the absolute personality of God. Asserting
that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit were one person, he sought to propagate his views in the
church at Rome. He is said to be the first representative of Dynamistic Monarchianism whose views
have been recorded .
The Trinity doctrine cannot be proven by simply reading the scriptures; it has to be described and

The question is: what does Scripture mean by one God? In the Old Testament, the words el, eloah,
and elohim, from related roots, are generic designations of God. The New Testament term is theos.
Elohim , meaning God , is sometimes confused to show the plurality of the Godhead, this is not
a correct interpretation. In the Hebrew words are plural in construction but singular in the way
that they are used. Also the Hebrew often used plural forms to show majesty or greatness of one
person or deity. Even though these are plural words, to say they represent a multiplicity in the
Godhead would be wrong. Historically Hebrew people and there writings are monotheistic.
When you are referring to God using Elohim , it is always used with a singular verb such as is
and created which are found in Genesis 1:1, but the scripture also uses Elohim in pagan references
in the Bible, and in doing so it uses plural verbs with Elohim as well.
These appellations, when used of the true God, simply suggest the nature or quality of being
divine deity. The word God is not the name of a personality; it is the name of a nature, a quality of
being. When it is said, therefore, that there is but one God, the meaning is: there is but one divine
nature.
The treatment of God will fall into three parts: first we will consider that which pertains to the

Hysterectomy And Fibroids
Hysterectomy and Fibroids A fibroid is a tumor or lump made of muscle cells and other tissue
that grow within the wall of the uterus (Illinois Department of Public Health, 2015). According to
the UCLA Obstetrics and Gynecology team, fibroids are the most frequently seen tumors of the
female reproductive system... twenty to fifty percent of women of reproductive age have fibroids,
although not all are diagnosed. Some estimates state that up to thirty to seventy seven percent of
women will develop fibroids sometime during their childbearing years... in ninety nine percent of
fibroid cases, the tumors are benign (UCLA Health, 2016). Uterine fibroids are the most common
cause for a hysterectomy. A hysterectomy is the surgical removal of the uterus. Hysterectomy is
the second most frequently performed surgical procedure (after cesarean section) for U.S. women
who are of reproductive age... By the age of sixty, more than one third of all women have had a
hysterectomy (National Women s Health Network, 2015). Risk factors associated with uterine
fibroids are: women of childbearing years, women who are approaching menopause, African
American heritage, and obesity. Signs and symptoms of fibroids can be asymptomatic, mild, or

The Environmental Impact Of The Fast Fashion Industry
Fashion is a clear reflection of the social, economic, political and cultural period. More and more
people are becoming concerned with their style and more importantly, how it affects their wallet.
This mindset has paved the way for the fast fashion industry to flourish. Fast fashion is clothing
[being produced] at increasingly low prices, prices so low that many consumers consider this
clothingto be disposable... the clothing equivalent of fast food. (Claudio) Consumers are so caught
up on the fact that they are getting a bargain, that they totally disregard the uncomfortable reality
surrounding the dark side of mass consumer fashion. The fast fashion industry has created a culture
of mindless consumerism.
One of the many things, people are unaware of, that is attached to fast fashion, is its environmental
impact. People are completely willing to turn a blind eye to the fact that this business is the second
most polluting industry in the world in order to be trendy. The first, and most obvious
environmental impact of the fashion industry is its pollution of water by the use of harmful, toxic
chemicals, dyes, and detergents. The textile industry uses more than 8,000 [types of] chemicals
annually, (Scott). Some of which, are carcinogenic for both people and animals. In fact, the World
Health Organization reports that in China, polluted water causes 75 percent of diseases and over
100,000 deaths annually. This information about the materials used in their products is

Sexually Transmitted Diseases Sex is a popular subject; it is on television, in advertisements, in
magazines, and practically everywhere. One very serious side effect of an increase of sexual
activity is the risk of contracting sexually transmitted diseases. They affect more than twelve

spread throughout Americans because of unprotected sex, permiscuity, and multiple sex partners.

Teaching And Learning For Students
Many school systems believe that the only effective way for students to learn is through direct
instruction. This isn t the only way, but it is the most common way throughout America. Direct
instruction is the easiest way for teachers to instruct to a whole group and students are used to this
type of instruction. But that style of teaching isn t exactly the best way for students to learn and
retain information. One of the most effective ways for students to learn is through differentiated
instruction. Differentiated instruction is a framework for effective teaching that involves providing
different students with different avenues to learn. This style of instruction allows for the
curriculum to adapt to certain needs and interests of individual students. (Bravmann) Making this
instruction one of the most effective styles of teaching. It also gives both the teachers and the
students more of an opportunity to learn in different ways that will help them to be successful in
the long run. Since this type of instruction involves a ton of work many teachers don t use it
because they don t have the time but it is really worth the time, especially for the students who don
t learn like everyone else when it comes to direct instruction. One of the best examples of
differentiated instruction comes from The Ron Clark film which is about who is a man from North
Carolina who moved to New York and had the chance to change the lives of students through
differentiated instruction. He

Payment Card Systems Were Breached
On September 8th, 2014, Home Depot released a statement indicating that its payment card
systems were breached. An investigation had started on September 2nd but they were still
trying to discover the actual scope and impact of the breach. Home Depot was one of the many
victims to a retail data breach in 2014. The unfortunate thing is the way the attacker s infiltrated
the POS networks and how the attackers were able to steal the payment card data, were the same
methods used in the Target data breach. By ignoring the warnings created from the breach at
Target, Home Depot allowed the attackers to use similar methods that could have been easily
defended. Through the use of a third party vendor s logon credentials, the attackers were able to
gain access. Then they exploited a zero day vulnerability in Windows, which allowed them to
pivot from the vendor specific environment to the Home Depot corporate environment. Since
both networks were linked, this was very easy. Once they were in the Home Depot network,
they were able install memory scraping malware on over 7,500 self checkout POS terminals.
They just put out an update to all the POS machines. Just like any IT shop would do. This
malware was able to grab 56 million credit and debit cards. The malware was also able to capture
53 million email addresses. The stolen payment cards were used to put up for sale and bought by
carders. The stolen email addresses were helpful in putting together large phishing campaigns.

Analysis Of Hoop Dreams By Steve James
Hoop Dreams was a documentary made in 1994, directed by Steve James. The film follows two
boys named Arthur and William from eight to twelfth grade as they chase their dream of becoming
professional basketball players. They both go to Saint Joseph s High School, the prestige suburban
school famous for their basketballteam. But when Arthur has to go to a regular public high school
because of economic issues, the film becomes a documentation of both the boys, with the help of
their families, battling the physical and social obstacles that are blocking their path.
One of the most subtle methods of manipulation used in Hoop Dreams was the music in scenes
that they wanted to resonate with you. For example, when Arthur is at Saint Joseph s at basketball
practice, his basketball hero, Isiah Thomas, shows up to give a speech. There is a slow motion
shot of Isiah playing with Arthur on the court, who has a huge smile on his face, and in the
background there is what you could call inspirational music. This was used most likely to show how
much Arthur idolized Isiah, therefore, showing how badly Arthur wanted to play basketball. It
gives the audience hope that Arthur will make his dream a reality, which will make it that much
more exciting when he eventually does.
In an interview with Arthur s mother, you find out that St. Joseph s wouldn t pay for all of Arthur
s education like they said they would, which is terrible news because the Agee s couldn t afford to

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of State Owned...
State owned enterprises are regarded as a particular circumstance of business organisations and
considered as the basis of economic growth in many countries (Zhang, 2011). It can be seen that
the proportion of state owned companies has increased from nine percent in 2005 to 23 percent in
2014 especially in China which has a proportion of 15 percent in 2014 (PwC, 2015). Furthermore,
state owned companies might be a necessary tool for development in emerging countries, because
they can be directed and achieved by governments. Although state owned companies have played
an important role in an economy, they sometimes seem to perform poorly compared with private
sectors on average in many countries, partly because the goals of public policy sometimes are
complicated to be achieved (World Bank Group, 2014). Therefore, many countries have decided to
privatise because they have expected that private sectors would operate and perform better than the
governmentwould do. Thus, privatisation has become an international phenomenon globally
particularly in addressing inefficiency from state enterprises. However, there might have some
benefits and drawbacks of privatisations, but all of the procedures are most likely to depend on the
quality of contracts and regulation in each circumstance. For this reason, this essay will examine:
firstly, the agency costs that seem to occur in state owned companies, secondly a privatisation will
be analysed as a result from those costs. Thirdly,

Unraveling Cleopatra Essay
Unraveling Cleopatra
She took a small boat, and one only of her confidants, Apollodorus, the Sicilian, along with her,
and in the dusk of the evening landed near the palace. She was at a loss how to get in
undiscovered, till she thought of putting herself into the coverlet of a bed and lying at length,
whilst Apollodorus tied up the bedding and carried it on his back through the gates to Caesar s
apartment. Caesar was first captivated by this proof of Cleopatra s bold wit, and was afterwards
so overcome by the charm of her society that he made a reconciliation between her and her brother,
on the condition that she should rule as his colleague in the kingdom. (The Life of Julius Caesar,

and ABC s Cleopatra , vary in the extent by which she utilizes her sexuality and intelligence to
manipulate Julius Caesar.
Fielding s Cleopatra
Sarah Fielding s piece, The Lives of Cleopatra and Octavia, published in 1757, describes the vilest
and frighteningly manipulative Cleopatra who blatantly utilizes her sexuality to wreak havoc on
men to achieve political gains. Fielding s Cleopatra adheres perfectly to the Cleopatra depicted by
Roman propaganda. Her Cleopatra is as evil, conniving, and crafty as the Romans accused
Cleopatra of.
Bound in a feather bed, Apollodorus carries her on his back into the palace. Fielding s piece lacks
a vivid description of the unrolling of the carpet and simply states, Caesar, pleased with the
ingenuity of the contrivance, and charmed with the air in which I suddenly started up and
presented myself in his sight, from that moment became my lover (58). Her confidence grows from
the power of her sexuality, as evident in the manner of her self presentation to Caesar. With
assurance she stands with poise for his observation.
In the piece, Cleopatra openly admits to her use of men, particularly Julius Caesar and

How Did Lucy Burns Contribute To The Suffragist Movement
Alice Paul, Lucy Burns, and the Suffragist Movement
Alice Paul and Lucy Burns were two of the key cornerstones of the American Suffragist Movement.
Paul and Burns led to the creation of the 19th amendment that called for equal voting rights for men
and women in the United States and the Alice Paul amendment that called for total equality
between men and woman in the United States. The American Suffrage Movement took place in the
1900 s. During the American Suffragist Movement Alice Paul and Lucy Burns the leaders of the
National Woman s Party made great headway in gaining support for the movement through their
use of militant, but nonviolent approaches. Alice Paul s and Lucy Burn s college experiences

Cassius Dio s Portrayal Of Cleopatra As An Enemy Of Rome
Introduction: This essay s focus is on how Cleopatra and the threat she posed to Rome are
described by contrasting and comparing the writings of historian Cassius Dio and poet Horace. The
passages centre on the hostilities between Cleopatra and Rome, Octavian and Cleopatra s suicide.
Subsequently written many years after the events, therefore their validity cannot be verified as true
and accurate. Commentary will be on how both extracts bolster and support, for the most part, the
contemporary unfavourable Cleopatra propaganda that portrayed her as an enemy of Rome but also
shows an underlying appreciation for her as an Egyptian Queen. The comparisons within both texts

The Impressionists movement developed as a result of the growing deviation by artists such as
Renoir, Manet and Pissarro to traditional artistic compositions and techniques in favour of the
modernist idioms of contemporary subject matter and unusual visual angles. This modern approach
resulted in arguments between art traditionalists and modernists, with technical ability and
competence becoming main focuses. Consequently Cezanne s work was heavily criticised by
traditionalist defenders as lacking artistic aptitude and non conformity to customary artistic

are an estimated 169 dead zones and 415 coastal areas that suffer from eutrophication (Steiner,

tolerance, dispersal ability and adaptive capacity of a species indicate resilience and are
measured in many different regions (Bernhardt, 379). The productivity of an ecosystem is
measured by measuring the primary productivity which is monitored globally by using satellite
ocean colour sensors and measuring the dissolved oxygen content of water (Bernhardt, 381).
There are several indicators of how sustainable the level of fishing is. The percentage of mature
fish indicates whether the rate of fishing is unsustainable. If the percentage of mature fish is low,
there is a large proportion of fish that are unable to mature, indicating overfishing (Froese, 87).
This measure is widely monitored in many coastal regions with large fishing industries. The
amount of illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing is measured globally and is known to be
approximately 20% of the world s fish trade. (Waitt

The Aging Process Essays
The Aging Process As we grow in to adulthood, many things start to change in our life. Aging is
an unavoidable process, beginning at conception and ending with death. The process does not
proceed at a uniform rate all over the body. As we age, the organ systems of individuals age at
different rates. Our body gradually slows down in early adult life. These changes are not apparent
until perhaps 50 years of age as they are not perceptible. The skeletal system gradually changes
over the years until it is porous and brittle, as the bones lose calcium and their density. This may be
more pronounced in women with menopause. These losses are multifactioral and involve age
related changes (reduce CA absorption, increased bone... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The thyroid gland often becomes lumpy (nodular). Metabolism gradually declines, beginning
around age 20. Parathyroid hormone affects calcium and phosphate levels affect the strength of
the bones. Some hormones are decreased, some unchanged, and some increased with age. Female
reproductive system has a number of changes. The cessation of menopause is an obvious sign of
aging. A transition period, called the climacteric, lasts for many years before and after a woman s
last menstrual period. Hormone levels change, physical changes in the woman s entire
reproductive tract, and psychological changes. The intricate relationship changes occur between
the ovarian hormones and those produced by the pituitary gland (in the brain). The ovaries stop
releasing eggs (ova), and menstrual periods stop. When hormone levels fall, the vaginal walls
become less elastic, thinner, and less rigid. The external genital tissue decreases and thins (atrophy
of the labia). The pubic muscles lose tone, and the vagina, uterus, or urinary bladder can fall out of
position. A prolapsed of any of these structures increases the risk of problems such as urine leakage.
Decreasing amount of estrogen produced by the ovaries may cause hot flashes, mood disturbances,
headaches, and sleep disturbances are common symptoms that occur during menopause. Male

The Pros And Cons Of Term Limits
Since the founding of the United States of America, the American people have been apprehensive
of a powerful central government. The country s first federal government, under the Articles of
Confederation, succumbed to this notion, allocating the central government very restricted
authority. Under the Articles, the federal government possessed no claim of taxation, no ability to
regulate currency, finite military power, and no system to regulate trade. These restrictions
prompted the founding fathers to establish a new government, which has remained the basis of the
country s political system since its ratification in 1787. Over the next two centuries, however, the
nation has deemed it imperative to amend the constitution. These amendments... Show more content

Even though the notion of term limits is a pressing matter which has been debated at great length in
America, no legislative action has taken place. Term limits would help clean up Washington in a
multitude of ways. The first of these is eliminating the incumbency advantage for previously elected
officials. Term limits are an important factor when attempting to rectify the unfairness challengers
face when campaigning against an incumbent. Simply put, challengers are limited with resources
while the incumbent holding the office wields many advantages. For example, every house member
receives approximately one million dollars a year for franking, which includes free mail, staff
salaries and office and travel expenses. When the incumbent is running for re election, not only are
they not focused on policy making, but they are still getting paid while running for office.
Incumbents can receive up to 130,000 dollars a year, compared to their challengers, who in many
circumstances must resign from their current employment while running campaigning. To put it
simply, while the incumbent is making 130,000 dollars a year while running a re election
campaign, the challenger is earning nothing. (Greenberg 5,

Landlord Tenant Law

Q. 1.Explore the legal rights and responsibilities of the tenant and the landlord.
Tenant landlord law
The federal registration as well the state property laws lays out the laws surrounding both the tenant
and the landlord. Houses, mobile homes, apartments, are governed property laws. These laws are
documented in the Landlord and Tenant Acts 1967 to 1994, Residential Tenancies (Amendment) as
well as Residential Tenancies Act 2004. These laws do not cover tenants who have rented a room in
the landlord s home. Despite the fact that leases and agreements are agreed upon by the customer
and the client, they cannot be take away the rights under the legislation. Both the tenants and
landlords have both rights and obligations (Dowden,2014).
Rights of a tenant
A tenant has a right to enjoy a quiet and exclusive home. A tenant can ask the other tenants to
reduce noise, if it is disturbing, and if this is not stopped, he can file a formal complaint.
Every tenant is entitled to a minimum accommodation standard. For example, the landlord must
ensure that the property is under proper structural repair. The property should be in a proper state
including doors, stairs, tiles etc. All the areas must be maintained in good condition and repair and
must not be defective due to dumpiness. Equipment and machines under laundry, food preparation
and food storage should be availed. Some of these are

The Job Of A Social Worker
I.Introduction
The job of a social worker is not confined to one geographical area. As a social worker, one could
possibly visit several different neighborhoods in a single week. Because of the vast variety of
clients that a social worker may encounter, cultural competency and sensitivity is an important
concept in this field of work. According to Garthwait (2016), a social worker must be capable of
recognizing, respecting, and accommodating differences while treating all clients with fairness and
equality under the law (p.110). The capability to understand a client s culture, values, perspective,
and life experiences is crucial in determining which services will best suit the individual. Every
client is unique and needs to be treated as such. Thus becoming familiar with a community, a social
worker can better assist clients with their needs.
During Community Immersion, each group was assigned a community in which they were to
assess. One of the communities visited was the city of Santa Monica. Santa Monica is encompassed
in 8.42 square miles (Census Bureau). Its borders are the Pacific Ocean to the west, Centinela
Avenue to the east, San Vicente Boulevard to the north, and Dewey Street to the south, as seen in
Figure 1. Santa Monica s residents may be known to lack diversity but the groups of people drawn
to this city vary. In the most popular areas of the city, it is seen that the appearance and tourism are
of importance to this community. This city is known for its

The Legalization Of Physician Assisted Death
The idea of committing euthanasia and physician assisted suicide (PAS) had a historical root in the
nineteenth century and referred as skillful alleviation of suffering 1 in Latin transcripts. Recently
the theme of the legalization of physician assisted death (PAD) in Canada boosted in 2012. The
decision of the British Columbia Supreme Court in the case of Carter v. Canada(Attorney General)
was the threshold of the theme. It ruled that the Canadian Criminal Code 2 prohibition against PAD
was discriminatory. According to the decision, the section 241 of the Code abuses the section of 12
of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. The adjudication is being finalized by the
Supreme Court of Canada in 2015 by granting a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In term of jurisprudence, assuming the legalization of euthanasia and PAD based on the court s
decision in Carter v. Canada has no legal ground. First of all, there is a new law only regarding
PAD, whereas there is nothing about euthanasia. Secondly, euthanasia and PAD are two different
legal terms. In brief, euthanasia means the deliberate act undertaken by one person with the
intention of ending the life of another person to relieve that person s suffering , according to the
Canadian Senate 1995 report 3. In PAS, a physician, at the request of a competent patient, prescribe
a lethal quantity of medication, intending that the patient will use the medicals to commit suicide 4.
Thirdly, according to section 241 of the Canadian Criminal Code, there is a punishment for a
doctor who assists a person to commit suicide. This sentencing revised through a decision from
the Supreme Court of Canada that declared it should discriminate. In fact, derogating section 241
of the Canadian Criminal Code regarding the prohibition of PAD is vastly different from
legalizing euthanasia or PAD. The Supreme Court of Canada in Carter v. Canada case provided:
...we should issue the following declaration: Section 241 and s.14 of the Criminal Code
unjustifiably infringe s.7 of the Charter and are no force or effect to the extent that they prohibit
physician assisted death for a competent adult person who (1)

Cultural Relativism In America
Cultural relativism is the idea that morality is about objective facts, and different communities
have different morals. Just because they may be different than other communities, it doesn t mean
they are wrong. Gensler points out several problems with this idea, the biggest one being that it
forces us to conform to society. Gensler uses an example with a figure skater named Lika Rebel
who is from a Nazi country. Even though the majority of the society believes that putting Jews in
concentration camps is okay, she disagrees. If you were to apply cultural relativism, Lika wouldn t
be able to think otherwise because it is what her society approves of and is believed to be good.

Enzyme Biological Systems By Speeding Up The Chemical...
Enzymes catalyze biological systems by speeding up the chemical reactions included. Enzymes
developed from the peroxidase that is obtained from the different roots reacts with the hydrogen
peroxide, which releases H2 and water. The extra hydrogen is indicated by the color change of the
solution that is used to measure the rate of enzyme activity. When the rate of enzyme activity was
high, the activity always occurred in the roots in the beginning stages of their development.
However, when the rate of enzyme activity was low during the roots development, sucrose was
present. Sucrose was not present in roots when the tissues consisted of high activities of acid
invertase. Radish roots proved to have the rate of enzyme of activity remained high until maturity
and showed to not have considerable amounts of sucrose. In addition, radish roots can be seen to
have similar rate of enzyme activity when compared to the turnip roots because these roots also
maintained a high enzyme activity until maturity and did not have considerable amounts of
sucrose. Both roots, as a result, reduced sugars being the main reserve. Through the experiment
having to do with sugar accumulation and invertase activity during the development of turnip and
radish roots, it was observed that these matured roots consumed higher amounts of reducing sugars
than sucrose (Ricardo, 1974). In addition, similar changes in sugar content to the turnip roots,
invertase activity and dry weight were also detected

Firstly, access to medical care. Years ago medical care in the 19th century was not very good.

around the beds for privacy because in those days clothes were short and extra material would be

for people that were very ill they may of made that person more poorly. Clinics were similar; they
had the basic bed to check patients on and the small amount of medicines. Not all the time did they
have the correct suitable medication for patients. So some patients may have had to suffer for
longer than what they should off because it was hard to get medication that was going to cure

Cosmia Analysis
Cosmia was written by Joanna Newson for her album, Ys, released in 2006. The song features an
orchestral arrangement by Van Dyke Parks. The overall theme of the composition appears to be that
of grief and the process in dealing with personal loss. The cultural and societal interplay that this
song invokes is evident through the exploration of instrumentation, genre, artist context and
musicological aspects.
The following table demonstrates the interpreted analysis of the musical structure. It is interesting
to note that there appears to be many microstructures in the form of instrumental transitions from a
section to another.
Instrumentation within this piece, provides a crucial musical parameter that assists in defining the
music structure. The harp and vocals appear to be the focal instrumentation featured within the
song, as the other instruments fall within the role of embellishments and countermelodies. This
facet is somewhat more apparent for the harp, that of which is present throughout the entirety of the
piece, dictating the chordal progression. This elucidates it as the pinnacle of the instrumentation,
and thus gives an insight into the composing machinations of Newsom s work. The first appearance
of Section A can be divided into two parts due to the variations within the instrumentation. The
second half of the verse introduces a range of instruments including jaw harp as well as the
orchestral arrangement which is definitive of this particular section, as seen in

The Uniform Crime Report represents police reported crime statistics. It includes a number of
reported offences, actual offences, offences cleared by charge, and offences cleared otherwise

positivist perspective. It is not biased, and complete, accurate, and standardized to facilitate

It did not ask police to report victim or incident characteristics, had limited number of offence
codes, and had no ability to add offence codes for new crimes (such as cybercrime) created
through legislation (Morden, H. K. and Palys, T., 2015). Due to the fact that the Uniform Crime
Report is reported by the police, there has to be a witness that is willing to call the police and
report the crime. In many cases, because of cultural differences, the crime may not even be
recognized as illegal (Morden, H. K. and Palys, T., 2015). For example, money is stolen from a
person, but that person doesn t recognize it or think that he/she might have lost it (Morden, H. K.
and Palys, T., 2015). Even after the police decides to respond to the crime, the police can decide
whether or not they want to clear this case according to the seriousness of the crime. In some
cases, the police let go of the offender because they don t think it s worth it to write a long report
on it (Morden, H. K. and Palys, T., 2015). In the end, the official statistic is reduced as a result of
the crime funnel, which is the number of cases that are filtered out in the criminal justice process

The Religious Beliefs Of Guru Nanak Dev Ji
Guru Nanak Dev Ji formed the monotheistic faith, Sikhism in the fifteenth century (Sikh Beliefs,
n.d.). Sikhs believe that Guru Nanak Dev Ji, along with the following nine Gurus, was sent by God
himself to deliver His message (Sikh Beliefs, n.d.). In addition, Sikhs believe that a single spirit
inhabited all ten Gurus (McLeod, 2017). Furthermore, beliefs include that upon the death of the
10th, Guru Gobind Singh, the spirit of the eternal Guru transferred itself into the scripture of
Sikhism(McLeod, 2017).
Like Christianity, Sikhism recognizes that there is only one God; however, Sikhs believe that a
believer s salvation depends on their mystical union with God (Brodd, 2015). Although some
mystical concept of God is present within Christian belief, such as Saint Teresa of Avila, for the
most part, Christian s maintain a clear cut distinction between God as Creator and human beings as
one of God s creations (Brodd, 2015). Furthermore, Sikhs view God as shapeless, timeless, and
sightless while Christians maintain an image of Jesus as the God (Sikhism vs Christianity, 2010).
Religious views of the purpose of life also contrast. Sikhs lifestyle was created by Sikh Guru.
Overall, Sikhism has based on the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev as well as the following nine
gurus (Sikhism vs Christianity, 2010). Teachings are compiled within the Holy Book known as the

were less than anyone else. They decided to take action and thirteenth students organized
blowouts. Students started walkouts because they were being mistreated and discriminate. They
were not offered the same rights as a white teenager. Also, they were not allowed to speak
Spanish at any time during School hours. Chicanos were dropping out of school and not
graduating, only 1 out 4 students were graduating because they were treated unequally. Mexican
American students throughout the Southwest held a 60% high school dropout rate. If they did
graduate, they averaged an 8th grade reading level. Due to Anglo centric internal school policies,
many Chicano students were fielded to vocational training or classes for mentally disabled. The
schools would not do anything to help them and made sure they graduated high school. Not many
Chicanos were going to college after high school because they were not given the opportunity to
go. In school, chicanos were separated from all the students and were given different classes.
Instead of getting a class to prepare them for college they would give them classes like

Social Media and Social Protest
A growing body of literature examines the relationship between environmental protest and news
media representation with special emphasis on how these formations relate to and affect the public
and politics.
The nature of our research is such that we are going to use a multitheoretical approach. Space does
not permit to review all the work done on this matter, but we have selected various key perspectives
needed for understanding the mechanisms of framing and media bias in the reporting of protest
events. We briefly review the more relevant perspectives that have guided our assessment of the
evidence and that were endorsed in our findings.
Protest logic and mediation opportunity structure
Various Studies have showed that media display an inherent bias against social protests, reflecting
elite interests, primarily by focusing on incidents of violence rather than on the message these
protest groups try to convey. Eldridge argues that what is being presented as neutral reporting is in
fact an array of codes and practices which effectively rest upon a cultural imperative to hear the
causes of disputes in one way rather than another , meaning that Media are not neutral unselective
recorders of events (Oliver and Maney, 2000: 464) Mainstream media predominantly tend to focus
on violence and on the spectacular rather than on the message being conveyed . Protest groups

The I-Other Duality
Zygmunt Bauman best describes the self/other duality where identities are set up in dichotomies in
this quote:
Woman is the other of man, animal is the other of human, stranger is the other of native,
abnormality the other of norm, deviation the other of law abiding, illness the other of health,
insanity the other of reason, lay public the other of the expert, foreigner the other of state subject,
enemy the other of friend.
The question of the Other the one different from yourself and those similar to yourself is ideal for
exploration within science fiction, which has always stretched the boundaries of what is possible
and imaginable. The Other can be different from the Self in its sex, income, language, race,
anatomy, etc., and Le Guin ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Gethenians, being unique in the Hainish universe should by all accounts be the ultimate Other,
different in not only culture but in their physiology, but the Ekumen subverts the I Other duality
metaphorized as androgyny , by sending the Envoy alone, isolated from his own world to
experience Gethen as an Other himself. Gethenians themselves struggle with the fear of the other in
the face of the Envoy and patriotism , but it is Genly Ai himself who undergoes the biggest change
as he begins to see Gethenians, and his comrade Estraven especially, as fellow human beings. In a
scene on the ice, after Estraven and Ai have become closer, they say good night to each other
using first names, and Ai is so alienated by the whole experience, that he describes them both as
aliens as if he was a third person narrator . The sense of slowly becoming equals matures even more
when they discover that they have similar motivations that made them exiles from their

What Are The Political Aspirations Of Jewish Given A...
1:6 How are the political aspirations of Judaism given a spiritual fulfillment in Acts? What two
interrelated traditions echo in question of the disciples about restoration of the kingdom to
Israel? How does Acts confirm the hopes of the disciples? The Jewish people were expecting a
Messiah in the form of a military leader that would overthrow the Roman empire and restore the
house of David. The Jewish people would not have envisioned Christ the servant of all (Mk 35:9
RSV). A leader who in humanity was humility to all He severed. The political aspiration of the
Jewish people is given spiritual fulfillment when Christ ascensions into His heavenly kingdom.
One is Yahweh promise to reunite the twelve tribes of Israel in the messianic age. Second giving
the kingdom of God to Israel is a vision of David promises filled by the Son of Man the Messiah.
The disciples being Jews have knowledge of the Torah and witness to Christ death, and
resurrection are witness to the fulfillment of Old Testament promises. But the holy ones of the
Most High shall receive the kingship, to possess it forever and ever. (Dan 7:18) 1:8 To what are
the disciples to be witnesses? What is the Greek origin of the word witness ? From what OT
passage does the witness motif come, and what significance does it have there? The disciples are
witnesses to the decent and gifts of the Holy Spirit. Then by their witness the are to proclaim the
gospel to Jerusalem, Judea, Samar and to the all the ends of

Plakobranchus Ocellatus
The Plakobranchus ocellatus feeds on great variety of green algae (Christa et al. 2012) they are
known to sequester ingested plastids (kleptoplasts) within specialized cells of the digestive gland,
and are said to have a long term retention (LtR) form that incorporates chloroplasts for several
months and thus allowing them to undergo periods of starvation while continuing photosynthetic
activity. Not much is known about the food sources of this sacoglossan, but it is suggested that P.
ocellatus is a species complex and feeds on a broad variety of Ulvophyceae (Christa, Wescott L, et
al 2013)
The slugs survived several months of starvation in complete darkness and in the light in the
presence of the photosynthesis inhibitor monolinuron, kleptoplasts ... Show more content on

The mean/standard deviation of the results obtained can be viewed in Table 1. The greatest
difference was seen within the standard deviation of the weight of the plant seedlings in a high
CO2 concentration (0.4326 g). This can be seen in the mean value (average) of the plant seedlings
in the high CO2 concentration, which was 1.153 g.
Further evidence of this can be observed in Figure 2, exhibiting that the standard deviation
increased as well as the mean dry weight along with the CO2. The t test results in table 2 show
that the probability results for the initial and Low weight (0.6501) is above 0.05, therefore
establishing the indication that the weight between the two sets of data have significantly less
differences, thus being more likely due to chance. However, the t test results for the Low and
Normal weight (4.895 x 10 5), Normal and High seedling weight (8.964 x 10 8) and Low and
High seedling weight (2.291 x 10 9) are below 0.05, illustrating that their figures are not due to
chance alone. It is clear that the difference between the results of the Initial Seedling weight and the
High CO2 seedling weight should be significant, further confirming that as the concentration of
CO2 intensifies so does the weight of

Reflection On Mindfulness
I have a somewhat regular, yet sincere contemplative mindfulness practice that helps me understand
why I experience life the way I do both internally and externally. I get to see my own urges, those I
m not really aware of such as the urge to multi task. Practicing mindfulness meditation and other
mindfulness practices I learned to become in touch with my own urges and to control them through
awareness and self discipline. So, here are a few reflections for your coffee time. As you sip on
your deliciously made aromatic coffee, tea or hot cocoa accept these thoughts for your reflection.
Finally, at the 3rd mindfulness class I took with Daniel, I decided to do the homework he had
suggested to everyone, which was to do one thing we do routinely during the day, mindfully. That
is to be with the experience of it and fully giving it our undivided attention. For example, if we
chose brushing our teeth, he said, to brush slowly, feel every stroke as the brush moved around the
mouth, what it felt like, the taste of the tooth paste, what the mind was doing; observe everything
about that experience, while also focusing on our breath. This was our mindfulness ... Show more

I had to find out. Hence, this became my mindfulness exercise for my homework. Oh boy, was I in
for a huge lesson in getting to know how I went about living life... while I stayed with my pita
bread to heat it up I followed the instructions of my teacher, feeling all my feelings, being with
the experience, being with my breath, etc. I observed how absolutely difficult it was for me to
just do one thing at a time. I saw how I could not stay put for twenty seconds to finish this task.
The urge to run and do other things was overwhelming. I d leave the stove to get something from
the fridge, to wash vegetables, cut them, put on music and so many other things while leaving the
bread on the fire and rushing to turn it over in between all those other tasks. And of course, it would

Why Is Tattoos Important In The Workplace
Outline Cover your trash at work
Introductory Paragraph
If you have a visible tattoo or an unusual piercings, you become a walking stereotype, begging
strangers to judge you (Lewis). On the other hand do you think having tattoos or piercings
uncovered walking around the workplace, while people are judging you, is that okay for you?
Even though Tattoos and Piercings are methods of self expression and are unique, your creativity
on your skin should be covered at all times while you re at work because some tattoos are gang
related and doesn t look good for a workplace and somethings on your body makes you look trashy
and unprofessional. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The key to succeeding is getting a feel for the culture of a workplace. When it comes to the issue of
whether ink will affect your livelihood, Haberfeld says it really depends on where you hope to get
work.
Depending where you work the creativity is showing where you can and can t work.
Conclusion
So it is clear that although Tattoos and Piercings are methods of self expression and are unique,
your creativity on your skin should be covered at all times while you re at work for two main
reasons. First, some tattoos are gang related and doesn t look good for a workplace. But most
importantly, somethings on your body make you look trashy and unprofessional.
While in some cases, the opinion you get is the one you seek, it is overwhelmingly negative in
most business environments. Despite the opinions of pop psychologists and business consulting
gurus, rebels and freethinkers do not fare well in most business environments. A business owner
or a company manager wants to work with people who can take directions and follow rules, who
fit in and don t make waves. Body art, however, screams, I am different!
So what, do you think your artwork on your skin will be the show of the day at your

Dropout Age Of 18
Students that drop out of school before the age of 18 have a higher likelihood of ending up in jail
or on public assistance. Quoted from the Radio Interview, Paul Moran talks with Missy Remiss
This is one of the many reason why students should be required to stay in school until the age of 18.
To begin with, President Obama is trying to push states to raise their school s dropout age. Raising
the dropout age doesn t stop all students from dropping out but it has a positive effect. What it does
is it sets the moral imperative so that students, parents, and educators become committed to the idea
that each student will in fact graduate. According to Paul Leather, the New Hampshire Deputy
Commissioner of Education, stated in, President

Rituals of the Nacirema
The rituals of the Nacirema To most of us, hospitals are a place to help you when you re in need
or want to get healthy. But for the Nacirema, it s quite the opposite. According to the Nacirema
ritual article, they call hospitals a latipso, which is hospital spelt backwards without the H . They
discuss and caricature the repulsive viewings on what they think goes on in hospitals (latipso s),
or what they think they do. I will now tell you how in Miner s perspective, the body is ugly and
how the body is dirty. In the Nacirema point of view this is how they see hospitals. In the Nacirema
ritual article they call the people who dehumanize other people medicine men. The medicine men
manage their sick patients dressed in costumes and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Almost everyone goes through this at some point of their lives, and you are not judged or
discriminated upon. When you are very sick and unable to take care of yourself and can t do
things on your own, it is the nurse s job to take care of you. The nurses use a thermometer to
check their patient s temperature and give them food to help them heal and recover. On the
other hand, when doctors need to cure you or prevent you from a disease or illness, they insert
needles to cure that disease, or make you immune to it to help you stay healthy. The reason all
the Nacirema assumptions seem bizarre to us is because hospitals aren t that extreme, or don t
seem that way to us. People strip their clothes and lather their bodies with a greasy like
substance. They then lay in a bright spaceship for a little bit while the spaceship cooks them
until people are golden brown, or burnt. But that s not the only thing they do that s strange.
They pour on their bodies a sticky honey like paste, and cover themselves with a sheet. The sheet is
then ripped off of the people, tearing off a layer of skin which makes blood spill out, and you look
as red as a tomato. These examples can be related to the two tenets of how the body is ugly, and
dirty. The body is ugly because people look like disgustingly brown and red bloody creatures,
which are mentally deranged. The body is dirty

Effects Of Depreciation On The Real Estate Appraisal
Depreciation is defined as the loss in value, from all causes, of property having a limited economic
life. (Thimgan, p.257, 2010) The cause of depreciation could be wear and tear, decay, inadequacy,
excessiveness, obsolescence, and negative externalities of factors external to the subject property.
There are various forms depreciationrecognized in the real estateappraisal. The following are
commonly applied depreciation forms:
Physical depreciation is the loss in market value due to wear and tear and the actions of the
forces of nature. It has two classes: curable physical deterioration occurs when repairs add a
value equal or in excess of the cost of the repair. This can be measured using the cost to cure. The
following can be mentioned as a short lived curable physical deterioration: broken window,
leaky plumbing, cracked paint or plaster, worn out floor cover, leaking roof. Incurable physical
deterioration is a situation where the cost of repair exceeds the added value to the property as of
the date of the appraisal. In this case, it is not economically rational to repair or replace. The
depreciated amount is determined using age life ratio out of the total cost new of the item replaced.
The following constitute examples of incurable physical deterioration roof cover, hot water heater,
and carpeting.
Functional obsolescence is a loss in market value due to the inability of the improvement to operate
or function efficiently for its supposed use as the date of

Questions on Employee Theft
In today s society with the slack in rules and non aggressive management it is very easy for a
company to produce an environment where theft seems acceptable. Employees steal and find that
there aren t any repercussions for their crime so they continue the behavior. It s all positive for
them because they get something out of it and there is no punishment. It was reported by the
security Group of Cahner s Business that, if they saw others getting away with theft, 66% of
employees would steal. This is not including the 13% who already steal or would steal anyway
(Guerin 2004). I believe that employee theft is stealing or misusing a company s assets without their
prior permission. It is not just stealing money, inventory, or office... Show more content on

Where larger companies are making so much money that the missing money goes unnoticed. It
still hurts both companies but the larger ones are hurt to a lesser degree. Some small companies
with only a few employees don t have all of the extra profit to make up for the losses and can t
make them up. It is estimated that almost 1/3 of all bankruptcies are caused by employee theft.
With this much theft going unnoticed there desperately needs to be a change in regulations
surrounding employee theft. There are many actions a company can take to help prevent
employee theft. The first step is to heighten the rules and consequences of theft. The company
needs to make it clear that employee theft is not acceptable and will not be tolerated (Gale 2006).
Some companies believe that employee theft can t be controlled. It is these kinds of thoughts that
boost employee theft because the company does not even go over the basics with its employees.
Most employee theft is never discovered and goes unpunished. There are constantly increasing
numbers of employees stealing because their company has not set down the proper rules and
standards of behavior to prevent this. Employee theft can and has destroyed companies; slowly
decreasing profits from the inside of the business, to the point of bankruptcy. Although there are
different levels and types, all employee theft is very severe and deserves a strict punishment. With

  • 3. Analysis Of The Current Energy Productions And... Response paper # 4 GEOG 473 SPRING 2016 Chad (Jong H) Lee Historically, most of the current energy productions and distribution systems are centrally controlled regardless whether it is operated by government or private sectors. Not to mention most of the current government policies on those energy sectors are highly tailored of the centralized structure. Part of the reasons I can think of that is because the framework of the current energy model is largely focused on a big scale energy system. Although this is not necessarily mean bad, but there are also some disadvantages when we only focus on big scale energy systems. A couple of good examples are hydroelectric and nuclear power. While these two sources of energy produce energy in completely different ways, they are traditionally massive in its scale. Hydroelectric power is the oldest energy source. From a small water wheel to a massive dam, humans have been used many of them for a long time. Since the principles of the technology in hydroelectric plant are relatively simple and using flowing water, it is one of the most widely used, as key energy source worldwide, and supplying electricity much like at the national scale in many counties. While many large scale hydroelectric dams continue to be built in many parts of the world, it is unlikely U.S. will add more of them in the future. One of the reasons is the arising consensus of its environmental impacts to the natures. Unlike a small scale hydroelectric dam, a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Human Dissection Essay Though dissections have been occurring since humans first began seeking knowledge, it has often been done in secret. Among them (means of obtaining human subjects for dissection) are the bodies of the executed, bodies stolen from graveyards, unclaimed bodies from poorhouses, hospitals and prisons, the bodies of suicides or duelists, and the bodies of persons murdered for the purpose of dissection(Hildebrandt p.2). These unconventional means were necessary until in the late 13th century and early 14th century Europe, dissection of the bodies of executed criminals was legalized (Perloff p. 6) but there has been a long standing opposition of the church to human dissections, especially the Roman empire. As per research of Mary Niven Alston,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Andreas Vesalius was the most influential component of the field of anatomy in modern time. After the time he graduated from the University of Padua he became a professor but demanded he be allowed to dissect which was untraditional because of the traditional lecture with barber surgeon dissection format. He travelled around Europe doing public dissections where he began noticing his observations did not match the material he was taught. In 1543 he published the results of his disagreements with Galen, a new method, and a new philosophy in De humani corporis fabrica... Vesalius showed that the liver was not five lobed but one mass, that men did not have one less rib and women one more, that nerves were not hollow, and that bones were a dynamic foundation of the human body (Ede 124). One of the most important aspects was the illustrations. It contains over 600 engravings. The different volumes address the skeleton, the muscles, the vascular and the nervous systems, the abdomen, the thorax, and the brain. The book devoted to the muscles contained a series of images showing successively uncovered muscular layers. Notably, the human figures were presented in natural, rather than schematic, poses (Dominiczak p. 5). This rejection of the traditional paved the way for future ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Biopsy Case Studies Siblings should be screened for the disease (by measuring ceruloplasmin, urine copper and liver biopsy if is necessary) and until adulthood followed up unless WD has been denied by genetic analysis. 24 hour urine copper excretion Most symptomatic patients (80 90%) will have urine copper 100 Вµg / 24h, which is diagnostic for Wilson disease (31). However levels of 40 100 Вµg / 24h may be seen in some cases. About 50% of presymptomatic patients who are ultimately diagnosed as affected have urine values in an intermediate range between 60 100 Вµg/24h. Because heterozygotes may have values up to 80 Вµg / 24h urine (but never 100), patients in this range may require liver biopsy for definite diagnosis. Measurement of increased cuperuresis after the administration of penicillamine has not shown to be more sensitive than an unenhanced 24 h collection for copper. Others noted that this test... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because of some confounding factors interpretation the results is hard. In addition, higher levels may also be found in acute liver failure or chronic cholestasis. Therefore, it has limited utility. Furthermore, because 90% of copper is carried by ceruloplasmin and the latter is generally reduced in WD, serum copper values alone may be misleadingly normal. In addition serum levels of copper may be elevated during pregnancy or stress conditions since ceruloplasmin is an acute phase reactant and 90% of circulating copper is carried by ceruloplasmin. Serum Ceruloplasmin The normal value of ceruloplasmin ranges from 20 to 40 mg/dL. Levels below 18 mg/dL can be suggestive for WD. Low or absent ceruloplasmin is reported in 96% of patients (23), that results in decreased total serum copper and increased free copper. Low levels can be found in 1% of normal population and 10% of heterozygotes or carriers (Table2). So, low seruloplasmin is not diagnostic by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Illyrian Research Paper Colonization of Illyria The Illyrians The Illyrians are the ancestors of today s modern Albanians, and were an Indo European people. This group first migrated into the area between the Adriatic Sea and Sava River during the Middle to Late Bronze age circa 2000 1200 BC (Harding, 1992:17; Srejovic, 1998:14; StipcМЊevicМЃ, 1977;Wilkes, 1992:37 39). The Illyrian domain would grow to cover the western Balkans, between the Middle Danube valley, and the Adriatic Sea (Harding, 1992; Wilkes, 1992:92). Today this expanse is made up of, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Slovenia, Macedonia, Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro, and of course Albania. The Illyrians began to populate much of this region during the Middle to Late Bronze age circa 2000 1200 BC (Harding, 1992:17; Srejovic, 1998:14; Wilkes, 1992:37 39). Even though the term Illyrian referred to a single tribe, it soon became synonymous to all who were similar both culturally and linguistically (Srejovic, 1998:14). Their language is distinctive from Greeks, Macedonians, and the Thracians, which is beneficial when identifying the various Illyrian districts (Harding, 1992:16;... The changeover in land usage created a ripple effect to the traditional Illyrian way of life (Galaty, 2002:121; Hammond, 1992:37). As colonization of the area progressed, some of the Illyrian population became serfs to the Greeks in the area (Galaty, 2002:119; Hammond, 1992:32; Wilkes, 1992:109). • 7. The Aeschylus Trilogy And Sweat By Lynn Nottage The Aeschylus Trilogy and Sweat by Lynn Nottage, though written thousands of years apart, actually share the same underlying problems especially when it comes the the characters that drive the plot. In both plays, there is this very prominent character trait found in most, if not all, the characters, selfishness. These self centered characters actually create conflict simply by only thinking of themselves. The self centered and selfish air in both time periods, whether brought up by individual characters or even character groups, drives the plot in both the Aeschylus Trilogy and Sweat. The mythical story of Agamemnonopens with an air of hope and fear as the very weary watchmen and city of Argos wait for the fall of Troy, a war that has been going on for ten years. After the signal is seen, Agamemnon s wife Clytemnestra, who has been ruling in his absence, appears from her home and tells the city the great news, they have won the war. Agamemnon arrives home and has brought the captured Trojan princess Cassandra, his concubine. Clytemnestra falsely welcomes him with gifts that will lead him to his death. After also being welcomed, Cassandra, moves into a state of frenzy, foreshadowing to Agamemnon s murder and her own. She enters the house, knowing it will lead to her death. Thc cries of the dying Agamemnon are heard by many, when the palace is revealed, Clytemnestra is joyfully standing over the bodies of her victims. She answers the elders charges by claiming justice ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Whole Foods Management Style Analysis Co Founder and Co CEO Johm Mackey of poplar chain grocer Whole Foods has a very simplistic but effective management strategy. Mackey believes that it s managements job to hire good people and because of that these employees will provide better customer serivce (Kinicki Kreitner, 2013, pg. 30). After reading Mr. Mackey s interview in our text I would compare his management style to that of the McGregor s Theory Y. McGregor s third section of Theory Y best demonstrates Whole Foodsrole in management. Section three covers how people generally become committed to organizational objectives if they are rewarded for doing so (Kinicki Kreitner, 2013, pg. 9). I believe Mackey s beliefs towards organizational behavior and management is more realistic and fair for both leaders and employees. Whole Foods uses the Theory Y strategy throughout their nationwide chain and obviously success is evident with the continued growth of the organization. One may wonder how large organizations operate in the confines of Theory Y? Meeker accounted in his article entitled Theory Y: Another Look states that even in the absence of leadership and his / her sanctions because it s desgined to reach the employee s attitude as well as their behavior (Meeker, 1982, pg. 508). • 9. Seeking Your True Self in the Virtual World The question of identity has always been a central theme for many, in particular the youth. Today, as we enter a new age of Internet technology, the quest for defining oneself has shifted online. While many, especially the younger generation, embrace the liberation that digital communities offer, others are apprehensive of the dangers that lurk in the virtual world. The anxiety is not entirely unjustified. Nevertheless, the truth is the benefits that accompany online communities far outweigh its drawbacks. According to Daniel Chandler, author of Identities under Construction , and Danah Boyd, an American researcher known for her works on social network sites, online tools such as personal home page and MySpaceare efficacious instruments... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The misrepresentation and manipulation of one s identity is an ongoing concern for many. Chandler cites that some critics are alarmed by the excessive manipulation of public identities. In support, Boyd bought up the issue of staged imagery not truly representative of one s behaviors. Despite the fact that the vast majority of online users tend to portray a polished self representation by ridding the undesirable aspects, there are some others that are utterly unpretentious. They frequently include details in their Web pages that are not glamorizing, but are what they felt necessary to paint a more genuine picture of themselves. There are still some who constructed online identities not for the pursuit of self definition, but for others to come to terms with a side of themselves that they have difficulty disclosing face to face. Chandler presents two examples in which two gay personal home page authors use their website to inform others about their homosexuality. One of them, Rob, mentioned that people can consider his side of the story before reacting (Chandler, 2004). Staying Connected One reason why so many people are fascinated with online communities is the ability to socialize not only with immediate circle of friends, but with a much broader secondary network of peers and people with a shared interest. A sort of savior to save them from whatever horrid situations soceity drops on them and bring them to better times. A perfect example of this is in Ken Kesey s One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest. Where R.P McMurphy is portrayed as a Christ like figure there to save the ward and guide them from hellish place it is. To guide them from The processed control of the combine and of the devilish Nurse Ratched. We couldn t stop him because we were the ones making him do it , this was one of McMurphy s biggest allusion to the Bible (p. 318). The men of the ward, needed action from McMurphy to be saved, just like how Jesus had to die for our sins. This is how McMurphy had to end it so everyone would finally be free from this place. There exists the classic principal agent problem with regulators needing good data about firm s pollution levels, but the firms do not have a medium or drive of providing such information. This information asymmetry is addressed through introducing instruments such as the TRI or PROPER, which provides a platform for information collection and usage. It will indeed incentivise firms an incentive to improve their public image in the cheapest way available to them (Grafton et al, 2004). Economists have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... PROPER has wisely combined multiple set of environmental indicators into a color coded scheme through technical support from international agencies such as the World Bank, to increase public understanding (Kanungo and Torres, n.d.; Ardiansyah, 2014). This transformation of public environmental communication in Indonesia has proven to be a breakthrough in its environmental policy and holds a promising example for Pakistan to apply. Raising awareness through campaigns and disseminating the information to the public using the broad print and electronic media network will grant easy access and develop public interest to use such information. Generally, it becomes difficult to identify the source of pollution among various firms gathered in an industrial area. To quantitatively record such data is challenging, especially for developing economies. The emission data for TRI is self reported and little is done to check its accuracy. • 12. The Trinity Doctrine Of God Though the word Trinity is not explicitly found in the Bible, the teaching that there are three individual personalities of divine nature (known in the New Testament as the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) is thoroughly scriptural and has been generally acknowledged by the writers of Christendom since the apostolic age. Around A.D. 190, Theodotus of Byzantium advocated the absolute personality of God. Asserting that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit were one person, he sought to propagate his views in the church at Rome. The question is: what does Scripture mean by one God? In the Old Testament, the words el, eloah, and elohim, from related roots, are generic designations of God. The New Testament term is theos. Elohim , meaning God , is sometimes confused to show the plurality of the Godhead, this is not a correct interpretation. In the Hebrew words are plural in construction but singular in the way that they are used. Also the Hebrew often used plural forms to show majesty or greatness of one person or deity. Even though these are plural words, to say they represent a multiplicity in the Godhead would be wrong. Historically Hebrew people and there writings are monotheistic. When you are referring to God using Elohim , it is always used with a singular verb such as is and created which are found in Genesis 1:1, but the scripture also uses Elohim in pagan references in the Bible, and in doing so it uses plural verbs with Elohim as well. These appellations, when used of the true God, simply suggest the nature or quality of being divine deity. The word God is not the name of a personality; it is the name of a nature, a quality of being. When it is said, therefore, that there is but one God, the meaning is: there is but one divine nature. This isn t the only way, but it is the most common way throughout America. Direct instruction is the easiest way for teachers to instruct to a whole group and students are used to this type of instruction. But that style of teaching isn t exactly the best way for students to learn and retain information. One of the most effective ways for students to learn is through differentiated instruction. Differentiated instruction is a framework for effective teaching that involves providing different students with different avenues to learn. This style of instruction allows for the curriculum to adapt to certain needs and interests of individual students. (Bravmann) Making this instruction one of the most effective styles of teaching. It also gives both the teachers and the students more of an opportunity to learn in different ways that will help them to be successful in the long run. Since this type of instruction involves a ton of work many teachers don t use it because they don t have the time but it is really worth the time, especially for the students who don t learn like everyone else when it comes to direct instruction. An investigation had started on September 2nd but they were still trying to discover the actual scope and impact of the breach. Home Depot was one of the many victims to a retail data breach in 2014. The unfortunate thing is the way the attacker s infiltrated the POS networks and how the attackers were able to steal the payment card data, were the same methods used in the Target data breach. By ignoring the warnings created from the breach at Target, Home Depot allowed the attackers to use similar methods that could have been easily defended. Through the use of a third party vendor s logon credentials, the attackers were able to gain access. Then they exploited a zero day vulnerability in Windows, which allowed them to pivot from the vendor specific environment to the Home Depot corporate environment. But when Arthur has to go to a regular public high school because of economic issues, the film becomes a documentation of both the boys, with the help of their families, battling the physical and social obstacles that are blocking their path. One of the most subtle methods of manipulation used in Hoop Dreams was the music in scenes that they wanted to resonate with you. For example, when Arthur is at Saint Joseph s at basketball practice, his basketball hero, Isiah Thomas, shows up to give a speech. There is a slow motion shot of Isiah playing with Arthur on the court, who has a huge smile on his face, and in the background there is what you could call inspirational music. This was used most likely to show how much Arthur idolized Isiah, therefore, showing how badly Arthur wanted to play basketball. It gives the audience hope that Arthur will make his dream a reality, which will make it that much more exciting when he eventually does. State owned enterprises are regarded as a particular circumstance of business organisations and considered as the basis of economic growth in many countries (Zhang, 2011). It can be seen that the proportion of state owned companies has increased from nine percent in 2005 to 23 percent in 2014 especially in China which has a proportion of 15 percent in 2014 (PwC, 2015). Furthermore, state owned companies might be a necessary tool for development in emerging countries, because they can be directed and achieved by governments. Although state owned companies have played an important role in an economy, they sometimes seem to perform poorly compared with private sectors on average in many countries, partly because the goals of public policy sometimes are complicated to be achieved (World Bank Group, 2014). Therefore, many countries have decided to privatise because they have expected that private sectors would operate and perform better than the governmentwould do. Thus, privatisation has become an international phenomenon globally particularly in addressing inefficiency from state enterprises. However, there might have some benefits and drawbacks of privatisations, but all of the procedures are most likely to depend on the quality of contracts and regulation in each circumstance. The hospitals were very basic, many beds in a large room (ward) there were very rarely curtains around the beds for privacy because in those days clothes were short and extra material would be made into clothing. Also, they may not have been very clean, they were hygienic to work in but for people that were very ill they may of made that person more poorly. Clinics were similar; they had the basic bed to check patients on and the small amount of medicines. Not all the time did they have the correct suitable medication for patients. So some patients may have had to suffer for longer than what they should off because it was hard to get medication that was going to cure ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

At the end of the fall quarter, I start to enjoy doing more exercise. Before I go to sleep, I do exercise every day at home with soft music. It also helps me to sleep better. Doing exercisemakes me feel good and have more confident. My goals set for the quarter are to increase my fitness level, and learn to breath with the movement. My goals were all met and I feel satisfied. The two different Pilates exercises I will be demonstrated are Criss Cross and Double Leg Stretch. The first Pilates exercise is Criss Cross. First, the start position is to lay flat on back with hands placed palm over palm at the base of the neck. Then bring both knees into chest and curl the head and shoulders off the mat. The movement is to extend your right leg to 45 degree angle. Rotate to the right shoulder to the left knee. Then, switch to rotate in the opposite direction to bring the left shoulder to the right knee. We can repeat these movement about 10 times. Next, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hurricane Sandy, Mitigation And Recovery HURRICANE SANDY, MITIGATION AND RECOVERY BY RIMA JUCIDA 2014, NEW YORK Introduction As the Assistant Administrator of National Preparedness with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (F.E.M.A.) when Super Storm Sandy made landfall on October 29, 2012, in New Jersey it brought with it storm surges of more than 11 feet, killing more than 100 people (including 43 in New York of which 34 occurred in Queens and Staten Island), destroying or damaging thousands of homes, and leaving more than 8 million people without power. Immediately following Hurricane Sandy, the damages done to the transportation infrastructure included approximately 600 million gallons of water that penetrated the mass transit system and critical inter city roads. • 34. Cosmia Analysis Cosmia was written by Joanna Newson for her album, Ys, released in 2006. The song features an orchestral arrangement by Van Dyke Parks. The overall theme of the composition appears to be that of grief and the process in dealing with personal loss. The cultural and societal interplay that this song invokes is evident through the exploration of instrumentation, genre, artist context and musicological aspects. The following table demonstrates the interpreted analysis of the musical structure. It is interesting to note that there appears to be many microstructures in the form of instrumental transitions from a section to another. Instrumentation within this piece, provides a crucial musical parameter that assists in defining the music structure. The harp and vocals appear to be the focal instrumentation featured within the song, as the other instruments fall within the role of embellishments and countermelodies. This facet is somewhat more apparent for the harp, that of which is present throughout the entirety of the piece, dictating the chordal progression. This elucidates it as the pinnacle of the instrumentation, and thus gives an insight into the composing machinations of Newsom s work. The first appearance of Section A can be divided into two parts due to the variations within the instrumentation. The second half of the verse introduces a range of instruments including jaw harp as well as the orchestral arrangement which is definitive of this particular section, as seen in ... It includes a number of reported offences, actual offences, offences cleared by charge, and offences cleared otherwise (Morden, H. K. and Palys, T., 2015). The police reported crime statistics best represent the positivist perspective. It is not biased, and complete, accurate, and standardized to facilitate temporal and spatial comparisons (Morden, H. It did not ask police to report victim or incident characteristics, had limited number of offence codes, and had no ability to add offence codes for new crimes (such as cybercrime) created through legislation (Morden, H. In many cases, because of cultural differences, the crime may not even be recognized as illegal (Morden, H. K. and Palys, T., 2015). For example, money is stolen from a person, but that person doesn t recognize it or think that he/she might have lost it (Morden, H. K. and Palys, T., 2015). Even after the police decides to respond to the crime, the police can decide whether or not they want to clear this case according to the seriousness of the crime. In some cases, the police let go of the offender because they don t think it s worth it to write a long report on it (Morden, H. K. and Palys, T., 2015). In the end, the official statistic is reduced as a result of the crime funnel, which is the number of cases that are filtered out in the criminal justice process (Morden, H. K. and Palys, T., 2015). The Horrors of War in Wilfred Owen s Poem, Dulce et Decorum Est From the earliest records of history, accounts of war have been portrayed as valiant acts of heroism. Children and adults alike have gathered together to hear tales of war and its glory. From the stories of Alexander the Great to recent day movies like Saving Private Ryan, war has been praised and exalted with words such as bravery, honor, and freedom. However, WilfredOwen s poem Dulce et Decorum Est shows the ugly, horrible side of fighting. Social Media and Social Protest A growing body of literature examines the relationship between environmental protest and news media representation with special emphasis on how these formations relate to and affect the public and politics. The nature of our research is such that we are going to use a multitheoretical approach. Space does not permit to review all the work done on this matter, but we have selected various key perspectives needed for understanding the mechanisms of framing and media bias in the reporting of protest events. We briefly review the more relevant perspectives that have guided our assessment of the evidence and that were endorsed in our findings. Protest logic and mediation opportunity structure Various Studies have showed that media display an inherent bias against social protests, reflecting elite interests, primarily by focusing on incidents of violence rather than on the message these protest groups try to convey. Eldridge argues that what is being presented as neutral reporting is in fact an array of codes and practices which effectively rest upon a cultural imperative to hear the causes of disputes in one way rather than another , meaning that Media are not neutral unselective recorders of events (Oliver and Maney, 2000: 464) Mainstream media predominantly tend to focus on violence and on the spectacular rather than on the message being conveyed .
