the Atanasoff–Berry
computer, or ABC. It was
built by physics Professor
John Vincent Atanasoff and
his graduate student,
Clifford Berry, in 1942 at
Iowa State College, now
known as Iowa State
University.

Computer
• The Osborne 1 is the first
portable computer, released
on April 3, 1981 by Osborne
Computer Corporation. It
weighs 11 kg and cost
$1,795. It is powered from a
wall socket, as it has no on-
board battery.

Game
• The first video game is Game of Draughts by
Christopher Strachey in 1952. Game works on
Manchester Mark 1.

5. ARPANET & The World Wide Web
• Idea of ARPANET is to enable resource sharing between remote
computers. ARPANET project started in 1966 and released to public in
1969. ARPANET is pre world wide web.
• Tim Berners-Lee, a British scientist, invented the World Wide Web in
1989. World Wide Web released to general public was in 23 August
1991.

computers is
• Smaller computers and more power, without
so high power consumption.
• Laptops have touch screen keyboard.
