June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

Overview on Edible Vaccine: Pros & Cons with Mechanism
Hip Hop content+DPS analysis
1. The letter “V” is a form of iconography and it
represents the magazines brand
The artist is topless so that his
tattoos can be shown in order to
indicate to the audience that a
huge characteristic of a hip hop
artist is tattos. This conforms to the
stereotype
The title “content” is
written on different levels
to show that the
magazine is unique. The
use of white in the text is
in contrast to the
background colors.
This will make the title
stand out as the brighter
colour is more attractive.
The word “feature” is written
in serif writing in order for the
title to stand out so that the
readers can follow.
The subheadings are in bold so
that the readers can follow and it
makes it more readable. This will
make it easier for the readers
and they wont get annoyed with
the information.
The background colors is dark
red and it is in low key lightin
which makes the model stand
out as all the spotlight is on
him because the exposure of
lighting is higher than the
background. Also, the
background colour connotes
to danger as the model seem
to be a caution because he
has tattoos and gold heavy
chains around his neck.
There is an issue number and a “vibe” logo at
the top right corner, it makes the readers aware
of the brand
2.
3. There isn’t much blank spaces which
makes the article look like it is full of
interesting stories and gossip.
A mid body shot of the artist have been used as
a main imagine, it is almost placed at the centre
of the page. Her make up matches with the
colour scheme “pink” as she is wearing pink
lipstick which makes the double spread page
very powerful in my opinion because everything
links together and makes it look very eye
catching as the costume and colour theme is
matching.
There is a pulled quote
from the interview which
will allow the reader to
find interest in the
article. The pulled quote
highlights the most
important part of the
article which attracts the
readers attention.
The text is split into section
across the page discussing
different topics. This type of
style is for younger targeted
audience as it is easy to
read. In addition, the colour
theme is pink which will
attract teenage girls.
Nicki's zebra print
costume and the
background of the page is
very contrasting which
makes it very effective
because of the colours
and patterns
The sub headings is in bold black
font and each column is number is
pink numbers. This makes it more
readable as the readers are able to
follow the article because they are
able to read it in different sections
A page number and the name
of the magazine is included
at the left bottom corner.
Drop Capital is used, the letter “W
shows s to the reader that it is an article
as a drop capital is a feature of a article.
Also, the drop capital will show to the
reader where to start reading.
The masthead is “The Gospel
according to Nicki Minaj” The
word"Gospel” indicates to the
audience that she is presented
as God like. This could be
interpreted as she is seen as a
goddess in the genre of Hip-
Hop.Also,the front of the title
is big and bold which suggest
to the audience that the whole
double spread page is about
her as the title is bigger than
the other titles. “Nicki Minaj”
is written in bright pink which
implies femininity as the
colour pink is stereotypically
associated with women. The
big vibrant title fits in with her
fun personality.
4. The main imagine of Beyoncé is
on the right side of the double
spread page, the imagine takes
up the whole page. This will
make the audience realise that
the article is all about the
artist.Beyonces make up, hair
and costume stands out as it
reflect back to the masthead it
highlights the word “fierce”.
The use of metal in her costume
is a way to communicate to the
audience that she is powerful
and strong.Also, the costume is
“creative” because you don’t
see women wearing metal
everyday. Beyoncé is looking
directly at the camera which
makes the imagine and
audience connect because it is
directly addressed to the
audience.
The main headline is on the left hand side and it is in bold white font.
The font represent the words in a way as the word “fiercely” is very
big and bold whereas, “creative” is not in bold. This means that the
word “fiercely ” will stand out more and attracts the audience. Also, it
could communicate that “fiercely” describes Beyoncé more that the
word “creative” .
The caption “women of the year” is at the top
right corner. This indicates to the audience who
the article Is about. The name of the artist
“Beyoncé” is not mention which means that she
is very popular in her genre of music that the
magazine does not need to mention her name
because the audience already know who she Is.
There are two columns at the left hand side
of the double spread page. It is located at
the left hand side because, the purpose of
this double spread page is for the audience
to see the picture of Beyoncé first rather
than the writing when they first turn the
page as it will attract readers
By-line is used to tell he
reader who wrote the
article.
There are no bold
subheads therefore,
the readers will
assume that the
article is only about
one topic.
The background of the
magazine is purple which is
a colour that is associate
with female however, the
background of the main
imagine is grey.
