The study was a partnership between the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM, through their Green Municipal Fund, GMF) and eight developers from four medium-sized Canadian cities to observe three basic concepts:
-1- The technical feasibility of achieving net-zero energy communities at the eight projects;
-2- The financial feasibility of building such projects;
-3- The process feasibility to obtain government approval of projects and all required permits.

Hilton Hotels submitted a RFP for a 5-star luxury hotel near DIA that could achieve LEED Platinum certification
This 7.8 acre site located at the corner of Tower Road and 71st Street is 6.3 miles from Denver International Airport, 20 miles from Downtown Denver, and has convenient access to several major roads and highways for a quick trip to the beautiful Rocky Mountains which are less than an hour away. A local bus line stop is located just off of the property and a proposed commuter train line is less than ¼ mile away. Shuttle service to and from the airport will me provided by Hybrid vans, as well as several courtesy hybrid vehicles for guest use.

The first floor of the East Tower will have locations for shops; such as Armani, Polo/Ralph Lauren, Starbucks Coffee, Prada, Guess, Coach, the Spa at the Hilton, the “High Point” Restaurant, and Registration Desk; as well as open and airy areas for free standing kiosks and comfortably arragned seating areas.
The first floor of the West Tower will have locations for the Tribeca Wine Merchants, the Gateway Cleaners, the Natural Food Market, and the Equinox Fitness which are be requested by the owner. There will also be plenty of space within the atrium area for free standing kiosks and comfortable semi-private seating areas for informal meetings and relaxation.
Access to both towers will be open for general public use; which is also a request of the owners and is one of the L.E.E.D. credits we are pursuing.
The second floor of both towers will consist of six meeting rooms (in the West Tower) and the convention center (in the East Tower), as well as a convenient enclosed passage connecting the two towers on the south side of the parking structure; this passage will have operable windows and a moving walkway to aid in the comfort for the guests.
All meeting rooms will have High Definition TV monitors and projector units available; the convention center (in the East Tower) can be used as two separate meeting areas or a very large area with a lobby space in the middle for vendor displays.
West Tower will consist of extended stay suites, single and double rooms, 6 standard meeting rooms; and RFP requested Food store, wine shop, and dry cleaners
The single and double rooms which comprise the majority of the rooms will be either a comfortable 340 sq ft King room or a 370 sq ft double queen room, these rooms along with a sprinkling of suites will make up the 3rd through the 8th floors of both of the towers. There will be handicap accessible rooms and suites on every floor in order to add comfort and convenience for all guests.
The one-bedroom extended stay suites are 600 sq. ft. of convenience and comfort. HD TV’s in the living room and bedroom, as well as energy star rated refrigerator, microwave oven, stove top cooking surface and dishwasher. These suites comprise the entire 9th floor of the West Tower, as well as several mixed into the 3rd through the 8th floors
Just like the one-bedroom suites with an additional 280 sq. ft. bedroom for even greater comfort. These suites comprise the entire 10th floor of the West Tower as well as a few mixed in on floors 3 through 8. The RFP called for 24 extended stay units, we have surpassed that request with 36 extended stay units throughout the entire West Tower.
East Tower will consist of regular suites, single and double room, the convention center area, restaurant, and RFP requested shops
Just like the extended stay suites without the kitchenette; these spacious two-bedroom suites will the room of choice on the 9th floor of the East Tower, as well as several available on floors 3 through 8.
The one-bedroom suites will have all the wonderful amenities of the similar one-bedroom extended stay suites without the hassle of having to wash any dishes or do any cooking. These relaxing suites will have a microwave oven and mini-refrigerator, but no stove top or dishwasher. These units will be in high demand with their commanding view of the Rockies from the all suites 10th floor, and some availability on the lower 6 floors.
360,000 gallon retaining pond to assist with erosion and run-off control. Water will be pumped back onto property for use in flushing units and landscape irrigation.
12 Windspire wind turbine will assist in lessening buildings pull of energy from city grid. Highly efficient units that create electricity in as low as 8 mph
Photovoltaic system will allow sunlight through while generating energy. These units will cover the entire atrium of both towers creating giant 8 story tall 3,000,000 sq ft solar panels that will be aesthetically pleasing and generate a great amount of energy
Ventilation pumps will circulate the air from the atrium through out the common areas of both towers for a comfortable environment in the winter months and will open vents in the top of the towers and at the top of the atriums in the summer months to accomplish a comfortable level in the summer months
