The two first-stage turbine blades failed due to high-temperature corrosion. Analysis found corrosion products containing sulfur, chlorides and oxides on the blades, indicating Type 2 high-temperature corrosion likely occurred. Type 2 corrosion involves molten chloride salt induced corrosion in the presence of SO3 between 650-880°C, resulting in localized pitting corrosion. The single crystal superalloy blades, made of CMSX-4, are susceptible to high-temperature corrosion when operating above 1800°F due to the presence of air contaminants and reactive alloying elements.

Maraging steel is used in aircraft, with applications including landing gear, helicopter undercarriages, slat tracks and rocket motor cases – applications which require high strength-to-weight material.
Maraging steel offers an unusual combination of high tensile strength and high fracture toughness.
Most high-strength steels have low toughness, and the higher their strength the lower their toughness.
The rare combination of high strength and toughness found with maraging steel makes it well suited for safety-critical aircraft structures that require high strength and damage tolerance.
Super alloys are metallic materials for service at high temperature, so one of their most important properties is high temperature creep resistance. Other crucial material properties are fatigue life, phase stability, as well as oxidation and corrosion resistance. A conventional metal may be failed in high temperature machining condition and has poor creep resistance, so materials for working at high temperature and which having also good creep resistance are a critical issue in manufacturing. this paper present a review about the Ni- base super alloys, which working at high temperature and also having a good machining property and having good creep resistance.
A Review on Optimization of the Process Parameters in Friction Stir Welding o...IJAEMSJORNAL
This study is describing a simple and systematic methodology for optimizing the Process parameters of friction stir welding (FSW) of (AA6105 and AA6082) aluminium alloy using Taguchi technique. The main focus of this review paper is to discuss FSW principle, process parameter and mechanical properties. The current study focuses on the friction stir welding of wrought aluminium alloys 6082 and aluminium alloy 6105 that are commonly used in the structural and automotive industries. Apart from this paper FSW process has been done on various aluminium alloys but dissimilar friction stir welding of these two materials are not reported in their research. A systematic study has been performed on the joint properties on the dissimilar welding of the selected materials and their relationships between various parameters.
Characterization of Al/WC/Fly ash Metal Matrix Compositesijtsrd
Metal matrix composites are formed by combination of two or more materials (at least one of the materials is metal) having dissimilar characteristics. In this present investigation, aluminium (Al 6061) as base matrix metal and tungsten carbide (WC) particulate, fly ash as reinforcements. Fabrication of MMCs was done by stir-casting process. The Tungsten Carbide particulate was added in proportions of 1%, 2%, and 3% and Fly ash was added in proportions of 2%, 4%, and 6% on mass fraction basis to the molten metal. The different combination sets of composites were prepared. Mechanical properties like tensile strength and hardness were studied for both reinforced and unreinforced Al 6061 samples. Microstructure examination was carried by using Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) to obtain the distribution of tungsten carbide particulate and fly ash in base matrix. From the results, it was found that the tensile strength and the hardness of the prepared metal matrix composites increased with increase in tungsten carbide and fly ash content. The Scanning Electron Micrographs of the samples indicated uniform distribution of tungsten carbide and fly ash particles in the base matrix without voids before testing and with voids after testing.
