Greater Manchester Export Fund
Objectives of the Programme
11. • The GM Export Fund has two components:
• Greater Manchester Export Grant Fund - £7M package of capital and revenue support to invest in the areas
critical for international development and export-focussed business growth. It will elevate businesses to a point
where they can either start to trade overseas or scale up their export operations to new markets.
• Greater Manchester Export Loan Fund - £2.5M revolving loan fund providing short-term trade finance to
companies who have been refused export finance elsewhere. It will provide short-term working capital to enable
companies to fulfil export orders.
• All eligible companies will also be referred to UK Trade & Investment North West for additional information, advice
and support regarding international trade.
Greater Manchester Export Fund
Programme Components
12. • Small and Medium sized enterprises within the manufacturing sector, although other sectors may be
considered where there is a strong case for support
• Businesses located within the 10 Greater Manchester Local Authorities
• Applications must demonstrate how the funding will both create/safeguard jobs and increase
international activity
• Grant funded Projects must be completed and funding claimed by May 2017 at the latest
• Projects must create Private Sector Leverage. The Programme must achieve an overall public to private
leverage ratio of 1 to 4.

Who we are – my time at Molygran
My initial work was to plan for the retirement of the previous M.D. and arrange for her shares to be
purchased by the business; we then set about bringing the business into the new millennium…..
We have finally stopped referring to “the great fire of 1999” when the building and business was
completely destroyed. After 17 years we have a turnover greater than before!
In the last four years we have tripled turnover and almost increased profits by a factor 10!
We have refurbed all the existing equipment; the electrical network and improved the IT systems and
also increased the workforce a little.
Current projects include:
• re-roofing and extending the factory and offices;
• investment in own designed machinery
• introducing three major new customers – including a first move into exporting
• acquiring a neighbouring building to allow for future proofing

Who we are – Growth Hub support
During this time we have needed and used a great deal of support.
We began with growth accelerator that helped determine the Strategy that is delivering our growth.
We were then introduced to Green Growth and MAS both of whom added massive value in areas we
were not expecting; we revised the strategy to bring forward projects to improve our materials yields and
early aspects of lean manufacturing.
The Growth Hub contact was made via Bury BC as we looked for alternate premises to meet our growth
plans, we eventually decided to refurbish and extend the existing premises. In the search for funding
BGH introduced us to export funding and we can inform you that after jumping through various hoops
we have obtained 20% funding towards our plans.
Of the two products we intend to export. The larger opportunity is with another local company that we
were introduced to by our MAS adviser, and together with ourselves also use many of BGH services.
Our next steps include recruitment, the manufacturing team expertise to improve our tolerances and
more
work on efficiencies and yields

Expanded Polystyrene is a cost effective and environmentally friendly packaging material.
Packaging
• We make custom packaging products.
• We supply a wide range of markets and produce
designs for many different applications. These include
cut pieces, cones, cylinders and scooped pieces to fit
specific products.
• Set up costs for hot wire cutting are minimal but for
regular very long runs of more complex designs it can
be more economic to invest in moulding. We will help
you make these decisions.
• Different packaging applications need different
material densities – Molygran will help you choose the
most cost effective grade for each product.
• Molygran can also provide/source complimentary
packaging such as boxes/tapes if required.
Blocks, sheets and cut-pieces of any size and
custom designs to suit individual applications

Molygran service levels are designed to support tight construction schedules and
ensure right first time performance.
Civil and other Engineering solutions
• Polystyrene is an excellent construction material – low
weight, low thermal conductivity, excellent mechanical
stability, low water absorption, high levels of compatibility
with other building materials and does not degenerate
rapidly with age.
• We specialise in complex/bespoke products that require
design input and precision production.
• We supply specialised void formers, bolt boxes, cones,
and other custom products for specific construction
customer needs.
• Molygran also supply sheets and blocks for many different
insulation requirements of the construction market.
• We recognise the value of the full service offering to our
customers – including product dimensional accuracy and
stability, on time delivery to site and the importance of
briefing designers on the correct materials for a specific
job.
Reduce down time; rework and waste by
accuracy and getting it there on time every
time……….
Many of our customers could incur substantial
project costs through downtime whilst waiting
for materials or rework through inaccuracies.
We regularly save our customers £000s in idle
staff and machinery costs by turning jobs
round at very short notice.
Molygran’s responsiveness; i.e. lead times for
one-offs can be less than 24 hours. This
includes work on the more complex designs.
We deliver to site on time to meet your
requirements because we know that delays
can far out weigh the costs of the materials
that we supply.
