Essential Aromatics
•Anne Connaughton set up ‘Essential Aromatics’ three
years ago from humble beginnings making candles on
her kitchen stove.
•Anne soon reached a point where she needed advice
on where to take her business next.
•Anne got in touch with Janis Maleedy from Wigan
Council’s Business Engagement Team who visited
Anne and helped her secure expert advice on
manufacturing from Greater Manchester’s Business
Growth Hub.
•Anne was helped with improving her manufacturing
process and offered further expert help and advice
which Anne described as “invaluable”.

Lynn Lloyd Soft furnishings Ltd
Atherton textile company grows workforce thanks to £78.25k grant
•A small textile company in Atherton has expanded both its workforce and order
book after securing significant grants to help it grow.
•The business was started by Lynn Lloyd 15 years ago was finding it hard to
fulfil orders with Lynn working 90 hours a week, and struggling to increase her
staff numbers.
•Thanks to Wigan Council’s business engagement team and the Business
Growth Hub, Lynn was able to access two grants of £65,000 and £13,250
which the company matched.
•This meant three new machines could be bought and the workforce was
increased to 10 from 6.
