DEFINITIONS
 Transfer of thermal energy through direct contact.
 This is the process of transfer of heat in solids from a region of
higher temperature to a region of lower temperature without actual
movement of molecules is called conduction
 For example: the process of heating a pan on a stove
CONDUCTION
 The transfer thermal energy through movement of a liquid or a
gas
 It is the process of heat transfer by bulk movement of molecule
within fluids such gasses and liquid
For example: ice melting
 hot air rising above a fire
 In human body blood circulation in warm-blooded animal
CONVECTION
 Radiation is the energy come from a source and travel through
space at the speed of light
 This energy has an electric field and magnetic field associated
with it
 Have wave like properties
For example
 Four type of radiations
i. Alpha
ii. Beta
iii. neutrons
iv. Gamma rays
RADIATION
 The process of converting/ changing of liquid water in to gas (in to
water vapors)
 When water is heated, it is evaporated.
 Evaporation occur when energy forces the bonds that hold water
molecules together to break
 For example:
 Water moves from the Earth’s surface to the atmosphere via
evaporation
EVAPORATION
 It occur when body can no longer control its temperature;
 The body temperature raise rapidly
 Sweating mechanisms is fail
 Body is unable to cool down
 When heat stroke occur, the body temperature can raise to 106 F
or higher within 10 to 15 minutes
 It usually result of overexertion in hot, humid condition
Symptoms: includes
 seizures or loss of consciousness
HEAT STROKE
