people watching fell like they are the
one talking to the character as you can
see all her feelings in one shot.

3. This screenshot portrays the setting
and location of the film as you can
see guards walking prisoners through
a locked gate, this makes it intense
because you can tell in a prison a lot
of things are going to happen, a lot of
things that are quite bad. Also it
makes the audience feel scared for
the character as a prison is a place
you should be scared off because of
all the bad people that go in there.

portrays all of his feelings, you
can also see that he enjoys
intimidating people, this close
up builds a lot of tension
because the lady is talking to a
top serial killer which could
make the audience quite scared
and also be scared for the lady.

prison makes the scene more intense as
you can see a vulnerable girl running
down a block with some of the most
deadliest people in the world, what also
makes the scene quite intense is the
hands sticking out of some of the cells
which almost means that the prisoners
want to kill the lady and make her their
next victim.

discomfort the character is in after
being in that prison, this also
builds tension because you can see
in the background two guards
walking along with a prisoner. This
screenshot makes the audience
feel sorry for the character as this
is what she has to go through.

because there is a police car which
instantly means that either someone
is in trouble or something very bad
has happened. It also makes the scene
quite intense because you don’t know
why the police car is there.

This shot of Morgan Freeman
represents that he is quite highly
classed as he is wearing a suit, it also
makes you think why he is needing to
dress so smartly.

9. This screenshot shows that he is
obviously a FBI agent because of the
badge. The knife shows a lot of
tension as a knife is used for defence
and attack. The fact that he has a
walkie talkie shows that he has a
partner.

quite shocked as all they can see is a
dead body laying in blood, this also
builds a lot of tension and makes the
scene very intense because its quite
scary seeing a dead body laying in
loads of blood with an unexplained
death.

one of the detectives, which means that
the death is unexplained, what makes this
scene so intense is the fact that behind
the detective there is a massive splatter
of blood on the window which gives the
audience chills.

killer, this might make the audience
feel on edge, almost like they don’t
know what the persons going to do
next. This makes the scene quite
intense as no one knows why he is
holding a razor blade or why his
fingers are dirty and have blood on
them.

scene is also intense because you
don’t actually know if it’s the
killer or a detective looking at
the picture, the way that
someone is looking at this almost
means like they are planning

This long shot of the boat on
the sea portrays that the
location of this movie will be
somewhere far away as they
need a boat to get to it. The
fog surrounding the boat
represents the poor weather
and that it will be a bad boat
ride.

15. This over the shoulder shot of
Leonardo Di Caprio portrays that
he is in trouble or that he is
scared, he looks scared because
he is sweating. This is intense
because you don’t really know
why he is sweating you can only
assume.

16. This shot shows that they are
quite high up as they are wearing
nice clothes, the fact that they are
on a boat portrays that they are
travelling somewhere, they almost
look like they are going to
investigate.

17. This flashback to a happy
couple portrays that someone
might have died as he keeps
thinking about her. This might
make the audience feel sorry
for him as they know he cares
about her a lot, you can tell he
misses her a lot.

18. This establishing shot of the
landscape shows that the location
of this film is going to be on an
island, this makes the scene quite
intense because the island looks
very spooky, however the island
isn’t very big so I assume they are
there to just look at one thing.

19. This shot of a patient at the mental
institution makes the scene very
intense as you have no clue why she
is telling him to be quiet. This will
make the audience feel a bit
spooked because her eyes are
different to what they are supposed
to be and also she is loosing her
hair.

20. Red Dragon
This close up of Hannibal's face
makes it look like he is planning
something, something that isn’t
good. This would make the audience
want more as they don’t actually
know what he is planning. This
creates a lot of tension.

21. This over the shoulder shot of two
people talking could mean that
they are planning to do something,
this makes the audience intrigued
as they don’t fully know what they
are talking about and they want to
find out more. The scene also
builds tension because the
younger man is in the household of
one of the most deadliest serial
killers.

22. This close up of Hannibal holding a
knife builds a lot of tension because
he is trying to kill the person he is
talking to, this will make the
audience feel scared as he is holding
a knife and putting it up too
someone.

Hannibal which makes it intense and
makes you want to watch more.
However the audience will feel both
intrigued to find out more about him,
but also scared as they find out how
many people he injured or killed.

has just been stabbed. This will
make the audience also

out more and what actually
happens to both Hannibal and
the man.

even more tension because you don’t
actually know if he is dead or not,
seeming as he has just been shot you
will assume he is dead. This makes the
audience feel very shocked as they
never knew he was going to get shot
because he had just stabbed the same
person who shot him.

26. The Purge
This screenshot shows what the
movie is going to be about crime
and killing, this shot is intense
because you realise why they are
killing and how they are not
getting caught for it.

27. This screenshot makes the audience
feel happy as they can see a happy
couple and they assume it will stay
like that. The fact that both of them
are happy on a night that all crimes
are legal shows that they know they
are safe and aren’t going to be hurt.

that there will be a lot of killing
throughout the movie. This makes it
tense because you never know who
the victim is going to be or why he is
planning to purge. This will make the
audience feel quite scared as they
know there will be death.

young boy portrays his emotions,
that he is scared and doesn’t want
this night to happen. This makes the
audience feel sorry for him as he is
only a kid and has to put up with a
night where all crime is legal.

30. This sets the location of where the
film is going to be, it also shows a
happy family eating dinner awaiting
a night that everyone should be
scared of. This builds the tension
because you don’t actually know
what will happen to the family and
you don’t know if they are safe or
not. This will make the audience
intrigued but also scared.

31. This establishing shot shows the
whole house, and where most
things will happen in this film. You
can also see that the family are
prepared because they have safety
all across the house and are going
into lockdown mode. This makes
the audience feel more safe for
the family and less scared, this
builds tension also because they
don’t know if they will get through
the night unarmed or not.
