This document outlines a goal setting system called LYBYE (Living Your Best Year Ever) presented by Dave Gallegos. The system involves 8 steps: 1) discovering your "why" or motivation, 2) reviewing the past year, 3) practicing gratitude, 4) assessing your balance, 5) designing grand goals, 6) identifying habits to change, 7) creating a weekly plan, and 8) taking action. The key aspects of the system are setting specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART) goals; developing habits and routines to support goal achievement; maintaining accountability; and persisting through challenges to achieve goals.

Goal Setting and Goal Achieving Is A Lawful ProcessRobert C. Hinds
Goal-Setting and Goal-Achieving are too distinct activities. One is an 'intellectual' process and the other is a 'Lawful' process. Once you learn and implement the clear 'four-phase system' behind the two, you will become a goal achieving machine. In many ways running a business engages a set of activities you perform regularly in your private life. How these activities have impacted you and how you react to and interact with them, will provide you with a deep understanding about what is effective and important to you, and what is not. By taking stock of your personality and predispositions, you can develop a business persona and set of operating habits that are in line with your innate strengths, interests and preferences. Model your management vision on what you already know about yourself and not on some abstract idea of a business executive. As you go through this self-assessment there may be traits and behavior patterns you may want to change in order to be more effective. Look at developing management skills and knowledge as ways to impress your personal stamp on the world in an effective and beneficial way, not as an oblique strategy to impress others with your success and wealth.

6. For many – it’s The Honeymoon Period
• We all experience setting a big goal – that really pumps us up,
we start strong, and then fade out….
• Why do our best intentions sometimes fail?
• How can we be sure not to fail this time?
7. Reason why I know I have failed in the past
• I didn’t have a strong “why”
• Too Many, Too Tough, Too Soon
• Too Rigid
• Too Vague
• No Measurement
• No Accountability
• The Opposite of what we call S.M.A.R.T. goals
8. My Goal Today
Inspire you to live the life you were born to live.

System by Darren Hardy.
Get you to imagine what it would be like to reach any goal you
set…..because you can!

9. Step One - Discovering Your Why
• The WHY is more important than the HOW.
• Does your why make you cry?
10. Step One - Discovering Your Why
• Ryan Urbach
• Same goal year after year
• Who is going to teach Carter to hunt?
12. Step Two - Year in Review
• The process here is Plan, Do, Review
• Plan- you make the plan
• Do – execute your plan
• Review- evaluate your outcome
• Improve- identify ways to make your plan better
• By reviewing your past accomplishments, able to identify areas to
improve!
13. Step Three - Gratitude
• Create an abundance mindset and not a ‘lack of’ mindset.
• Acknowledge and appreciate the abundance you already have.
14. Step Four - Your Balance Sheet
• Imbalance = Disaster
• Wheel of Life Chart
• Accounts
15. Ideas to Keep in Mind
You don’t want to end up like this…..
17. Step Five - The Grand Design
• 1st - Have fun, no limits and dream big! No, dream bigger!
• Read “The Magic of Thinking Big”
• Now, narrow your dreams down to your top 10.
• Finally, narrow them down even further to the top 3.
The Essential Few….
18. Ideas to Keep in Mind
Your focus should be on 3 goals. Not 100 goals, or even 10
goals. The Vital Few!
“If you have more than three strategic priorities, you don’t have
any.”
-Jim Collins
19. Step Five - The Grand Design
• Now make sure those 3 Goals are SMART.
S
M
A
R
T
= Specific
= Measurable
= Attainable
= Relevant
= Time Sensitive
20. Step Five - The Grand Design
• Create a goal that is SPECIFIC.
• Not “I want to be Debt Free”
• Specify exactly what you will do: I will shred my credit cards and
pay off $27,000 in credit card debt by 3/31/15.
21. Step Five - The Grand Design
• Create a goal that is MEASURABLE.
• Milestones and deadlines...
• In your goal, include what will be measured: I will lose 25
pounds by…..and I will do this by losing 2 lbs. a week for 12.5
weeks.
22. Step Five - The Grand Design
• Create a goal that is ATTAINABLE.
• You can’t lose 25 lbs. this week….
• We over estimate what we can do in the short term
• We under estimate what we can do in the long term
23. Step Five - The Grand Design
• Create a goal that is RELEVANT.
• Does your goal match your core values, your mission and vision
for your life? Is it really important to you?
• Be sure to choose something that will improve your life and help
you become the best you possible.
24. Step Five - The Grand Design
• Create a goal that is TIME SENSITIVE.
• It’s got to have deadline!
“ A dream is just a dream. A goal is a dream with a plan and a
deadline.”
– Harvey MacKay
25. Step Six - The Magic Factor
• Keep – Start - Stop
• Identify existing healthy habits, disciplines or behaviors I need to
expand.
• Identify poor habits or behaviors I need to stop
• Create 3 modifications and how I will implement these into my daily
routine
26. Step Six - The Magic Factor
• The magic comes from becoming the person you need to be in
order to attract the people or results you wish to meet or
achieve.
• It’s less about “What do I need to do” and more about…
• Who do I need to become?
• What new habits, routines and behaviors do I need to start?
28. Step Eight - Take Action
• What you will do in the next 24 hours?
• What you will do in the next 30 days?
• Why is this important to start now? “Mo”
Started at 14, I must have quit 10 times over those years. I knew it could kill me, I’d seen all the gross pictures…so why did I fail at it over and over and over?
A big reason people fail at reaching their goals…
All the steps I am going to talk to you about are in this journal. Don’t skip a single step.
When it comes to reaching a goal – why is more important than how.
It’s too hard to reach a goal that is not powered by a strong why.
Ryan Urbach – best example
Ryan – lose weight – always starts strong – this year is different.
G’s goals from 2005 – his why’s were about Maureen, having a family, helping his Mom and Dad, and it’s in writing!
Skip this today….
Easy to be grateful for me when I remember where I’ve been- I was one lived in my little sisters basement – so I really love my house
By Ranking where you are in key areas – identify where you need to focus – goal is a round wheel
Life without balance can cost you your relationships health spirituality wealth happiness. So find things to motivate you from all areas of life.
Key is have fun and dream BIG - and then narrow the focus- the book walks you through the steps.
Let’s go through these one by one
My routines for this Goal - 165 Lbs. by 2/15/15, 80 OZ H20, No Sugar Crap, ½ portions ( I Love my food- Taco Bell) 6 workouts a week.
Describe my morning Routine to make this happen.
Make it hard to do what I don’t want to do, and easy to do what I know I have to do.
2nd - 23 LO’S BY 12/1/15 (11 MORE THAN WE HAVE NOW) averaging 5 units a month 1st 3 by 4/30/15 Milestone
Started at 14, I must have quit 10 times over those years. I knew it could kill me, I’d seen all the gross pictures…so why did I fail at it over and over and over? Read the story – tie it back to SMART goals- and written down.
