In many ways running a business engages a set of activities you perform regularly in your private life. How these activities have impacted you and how you react to and interact with them, will provide you with a deep understanding about what is effective and important to you, and what is not. By taking stock of your personality and predispositions, you can develop a business persona and set of operating habits that are in line with your innate strengths, interests and preferences. Model your management vision on what you already know about yourself and not on some abstract idea of a business executive. As you go through this self-assessment there may be traits and behavior patterns you may want to change in order to be more effective. Look at developing management skills and knowledge as ways to impress your personal stamp on the world in an effective and beneficial way, not as an oblique strategy to impress others with your success and wealth.
There are different types of goals you should set in order to be successful in life. You must have goals to maintain your health and relationships. You must also set short-term, medium, and long-term goals.

Setting Goals by Sarah Buerger & Dr Chris StoutDr. Chris Stout
There are lots of planners, systems, seminars, and books to help achieve goals, get organized, and plan. But Meaningful Productivity is the first comprehensive approach for one’s LIFE – not just work or home. It is based on an integrative philosophy of living that has evolved and been acid-tested in the real world by its originator. It is designed to be specifically tailored to your needs, goals, and ambitions.
Meaningful Productivity is designed to be simple and unencumbered. It is basically a hybrid of a scheduling system/planner with a to-do list. Its simplicity is its power. It is my goal to get Meaningful Productivity out to the masses, via amazon so it is as affordable as it is easy to use. I am not too concerned with my copyright, other than you recognize my authorship and perhaps may wish to use my consultative services or purchase other materials, via DrChrisStout.com.
My focus is on life significance. This significance is defined via achievement with satisfaction. Significance wins out over success. Meaning and individualized importance are drivers. Sure, sometimes these result in outward reward of status, celebrity, or wealth, but these are side-effects, not ends. This philosophy is best stated in one of my mottos: “Do important things.”
I feel the accomplished life is ongoing, not an endpoint. Accomplishment should occur across the life span. Life thus needs a design. Certainly randomness has its place, and entropy can make for an enjoyable calamity, but a life left to be “designed” by chance is too much at risk of being wasted.
Some choose to simplify their lives. And this has become quite popular as of late. I support this philosophy with clarification: to simplify is to be unencumbered from the unnecessary, not to sacrifice needs and self-defined reasonable wants.
It is my philosophy to support high-achievement over over-achievement. Over-achievers tend to be more driven by obtaining external trappings resultant from achievement rather than inherent drive by the work itself. These are the individuals who risk burn out they are those who feel heavy work involvement is expected by a superior (not the result of an “internal” motivation); or feel a need to perform for others; or feel pride in external/material attainment over intrinsic satisfaction in the work itself; and then they reach a point in mid- to late-career that results in the “is this all there is?” phenomenon.

Enterprise Excellence is Inclusive Excellence.pdfKaiNexus
Enterprise excellence and inclusive excellence are closely linked, and real-world challenges have shown that both are essential to the success of any organization. To achieve enterprise excellence, organizations must focus on improving their operations and processes while creating an inclusive environment that engages everyone. In this interactive session, the facilitator will highlight commonly established business practices and how they limit our ability to engage everyone every day. More importantly, though, participants will likely gain increased awareness of what we can do differently to maximize enterprise excellence through deliberate inclusion.
What is Enterprise Excellence?
Enterprise Excellence is a holistic approach that's aimed at achieving world-class performance across all aspects of the organization.
What might I learn?
A way to engage all in creating Inclusive Excellence. Lessons from the US military and their parallels to the story of Harry Potter. How belt systems and CI teams can destroy inclusive practices. How leadership language invites people to the party. There are three things leaders can do to engage everyone every day: maximizing psychological safety to create environments where folks learn, contribute, and challenge the status quo.
Who might benefit? Anyone and everyone leading folks from the shop floor to top floor.

4. WHAT IS A
GOAL?
“A goal is a dream with a
deadline.” Napoleon Hill
“A goal is an idea of the future or
desired result that a person or a group
of people envision, plan and commit
to achieving.” ~ Wikipedia
In my own words, a goal is something
you want to do or accomplish,
combined with a date/time of when
you will do it.
5. HOW GOAL SETTING IMPACTED ME
• Learned about the importance of goal setting during my time in Amway, circa
2003.
• I had heard of it before, but never applied it.
• Setting written goals has 100% changed my life for the better.
• Goal setting helped me become a high achiever and accomplish most of the
things on my bucket list.
• I believe it will do the same for you.
You will miss 100% of the shots you don’t take. ~ Wayne Gretzky
6. THE
HARVARD
STUDY
• In the Harvard Business School MBA study on goal setting, the graduating class
was asked a single question about their goals in life. The question was this:
Have you set written goals and created a plan for their attainment?
Prior to graduation, it was determined that:
• 84% of the entire class had set no goals at all
• 13% of the class had set written goals but had no concrete plans
• 3% of the class had both written goals and concrete plans
The results?
• Well, you’ve likely somewhat guessed it. 10 years later, the 13% of the class that
had set written goals but had not created plans, were making twice as much
money as the 84% of the class that had set no goals at all.
• However, the apparent kicker is that the 3% of the class that had both written
goals and a plan, were making ten times as much as the rest of the 97% of the
class.
• Ten times as much? If the study is actually true, which most people believe it not
to be because there doesn’t exist a single shroud of verifiable evidence, then it
would be saying a lot.

7. TIPS FOR
SETTING GOALS
Be specific with time and date.
Make sure your goals are realistic but force
you to stretch out of your comfort zone.
COMMIT your goals to paper (write them
down).
PRIORITIZE, don’t set too many goals for
each category (keep the main thing the
main thing).
Always write your goals in the present tense.
8. S.M.A.R.T.
GOALS
• Specific (simple, sensible, significant).
• Measurable (meaningful, motivating).
• Achievable (agreed, attainable).
• Relevant (reasonable, realistic and
resourced, results-based).
• Time bound (time-based, time limited,
time/cost limited, timely, time-sensitive).
9. TYPES OF GOALS
• Personal Goals (includes hobbies, health,
leisure)
• Financial Goals (personal, business, and
family finances)
• Family Goals (things you want to do or
achieve as a family)
• Business Goals (anything you want to
achieve with your business)
10. PERSONAL
GOALS
Goals for your personal life
Health, spiritual, hobbies, personal development,
etc.
Examples:
• I will weigh 180 pounds or less by December
31st
• I will walk 1,500 miles this year
• I will eat <20 grams of carbs every day this
year
• I will read 36 books
• I will go fishing at least 12 times

• I will pay off our vehicle in full by December 31st.
• I will add $5,000 to our emergency fund by December 31st.
12. FAMILY GOALS

and brother-in-law.

I will take my
parents on a fishing

this summer.

13. BUSINESS GOALS
Goals related to your business
Example:
I will achieve at least $500,000 in business
revenue this year.
I will add 120 new posts to my blog.
I will publish 240 YouTube videos.

I will generate 40,000 leads.
I will have 800,000 visitors to my blog and 1.2
million-page views.
I will personally enroll 120 new reps this year.
I will reach the rank of DIAMOND by December
31st.
I will add 250,000 new team members this year.
14. CREATING YOUR ROADMAP
Once you determine your goals, divide it by 12 to determine what you must do
each month to stay on track.
Examples:
Lose 50 pounds this year (lose 4.2 pounds per month)
Save $5,000 this year (save $420 per month)
Invest $10k in 401k (invest $800 to $820 per month)
Take it even one step further and determine what you must do each week and each
day. This will become your ACTION PLAN.
15. PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER
Put your goals on paper.
Be specific.
Write your goals in the present tense.
Set goals for the different aspects of your life.
Set realistic goals but goals that force you out of your comfort zone.
Review your goals frequently.
Break your yearly goals into monthly bite-sized goals so you have an action plan.
If possible, have an accountability partner such as your spouse or best friend.
