1) A micro-NGO called "If Pigs Could Fly - Helping Hillside Haiti" established a solar-powered water pumping system in the remote village of Mon Bouton in rural Haiti to bring water closer to homes. 2) The system uses solar panels to power pumps that lift water through pipes from a reservoir 700 meters downhill, to storage tanks at intermediate and upper elevation sites. 3) The system provides around 300 gallons of water per day to the community, saving women and children from carrying water long distances. It demonstrates how appropriate technology can sustainably improve living conditions in developing areas.
