2. MEANING
HAFED is the largest apex cooperative federation of Haryana State. It
came into existence on 1st November 1966. HAFED is playing an
important role in supplying quality agriculture inputs like fertilisers,
pesticides, high yielding variety seeds etc. It is also the largest food grain
procurement agency of the state. The head office of HAFED is at
Panchkula. It is the sole nodal agency for distribution of fertilisers
through cooperative network in India. HAFED as a brand is also gaining
popularity as they are known for their quality and purity. The main
consumer goods from HAFED are Basmati and Non Basmati Rice, Kacchi
Ghani Mustard oil, refined soya bean oil, refined cottonseed oil, desi
wheat and its flour, sugar, turmeric powder etc.. Cattle feed by HAFED is
popular not only In Haryana but in other states also. HAFED even exports
its products to nations like USA, Australia, UK, Saudi Arabia etc. it also
owns warehouses for storing food grains, agricultural inputs, processed
Agri products and it also provides warehousing facility to general public
on commercial basis.

3. OBJECTIVES OF HAFED
1. To supply good quality agriculture inputs like fertilisers,
seeds, pesticides, insecticides etc. at reasonable price to
the farmers.
2. To make arrangement for marketing of agricultural
products of farmers of Haryana.
3. To store the surplus food gains in a scientific manner.
4. To make arrangement for processing of agricultural
products so that good quality consumer goods can be
made available at reasonable price.
5. To promote organic farming in Haryana.
6. To facilitate the working of affiliated cooperative societies
like KRIBHCO, IFFCO etc
