Vikrami Samvat
Vikrami Samvat, the Indian calendar having its birthday between March- April, planned to invite
different Calendars to his birthday this time. Falling on the first day of Shukal paksh (the date after
no moon day or new moon day) of Chaitr month. This year it falls on 11th April as per the Gregorian
calendar.
When he shared his dream with other family members, nobody had taken him seriously. He thought
that either he was too old to celebrate or not too famous to create an excitement. Everybody thought
that the day is just a matter of ritual and religious activity. The celebration was missing somewhere.
In the thoughts and tears he slept as it is.
Next day he found that everyone is celebrating his birthday, lot many parties and huge celebrations.
He was at every desk, at every electronic device and everything was decorated. People were giving
blessings and wishes to each other. Everyone was happy.
He again found himself in tears, the tears of pleasure and happiness. But soon he realized that nothing
was there except the sun rays on his head. It was already noon. The life of his dream was very short.
But determined to fulfill his dreams and committed on his decision, he searched for all the philosophies
and principles. He found the only one principle that works in everything and every time. And it was
“Interdependence’, the saying he remembered was “everything and everyone have their own time”.
Immediately he decided to take the help of the Gregorian calendar. Success knows the passage to
succeed. He wrote a letter to his counterpart:
Dear Brother
Namaskar – Greetings!!!

life is the most beautiful gift of the God; relations are the precious treasures

Today we have traveled for more than two thousand years together. Embarked with many events and
people. Many of our offspring are known and celebrated again and again and few found theirselves in
forgotten history.
I need your help. I wish to celebrate my birthday and birthday of every calendar. Birthdays in a big
way.
As you have the global reach, you understand and know everyone, I wish you to be a part of the host
and the organizer’s team, our team. I believe that you will manage the required time for the requested
responsibility. I am incomplete without you.
Looking forward to spread prosperity and embark on every offspring together...
Yours truly,
Vikrami Samvat

Titles
‘In this time of competition, excellence and
globalization we need to grow everyday and every
minute. As everybody is putting their potential at
best, let we, “The Titles”, contribute and grow as
well. Let’s meet on a cup of tea at my place.’
Whenthedifferenttitlesgotthismessagefromthe
head title, nobody understands the meaning and
everyone was surprised. But as the message was
soft everybody thought to attend; few for respect,
few for curiosity and few just to be there.
Every title was there. The range of the age was
from few thousand years to just a year or so, few
were not even prevalent at present. The variety
of dresses were clearly symbolizing of royalty,
humility, pride, respect, arrogance, equality and
protocol. The same was
supported by the body
language of each.
In the midst of informal
interaction, confusions and
satire at few corners; the
host of the meeting was
there. The royal outfit was
simple and graceful; an
aura of knowledge, wisdom
and intellect was glowing
all around; the age was
incompetent to cloud the
shine of the young energy.
Carrying a huge experience,
the competent was capable
of creating a balance
between time tested values
and new innovations;
respecting the words of age
and allowing toddlers and
infants to have their voice.
The meeting was started
with the serving of tea and snacks.
‘We are here to understand that after a very long
the human society is coming together. Thanks to
IT and communication channels. The government
and private players are working parallel for
different industries, especially for our today’s
team – The Education. New challenges and
opportunities are coming together.
In this mist of change, we, ‘The Titles’ have
to understand our role. Let’s we understand
the challenges and opportunities together. We
must carry the culture, heritage and traditions,
not for the sake of carrying only but also with
philosophical need and governance. May be few
seasoned have to leave their position to give
passage to new ones; new to understand the
philosophy that worked and the purpose of their
birth.
This is all my understanding and perception; you
all are open to share your minds on them. Let’s
open the discussion with:
1. In the mist of changes the visitors to our
places are confused with variety and number of
Titles. We are not similar at different institutes
for similar responsibility. Not institutes only but
also organizations, as we are now organizations
and companies also.
2. We unable to represent our work by our
names. The visitor and the holder of title, both
are not clear. Somewhere efficiency is lacking and
at much of places the effectiveness.
3. Every title must add values to the work.
4. We must not be the only symbol of authority
and ego boosting but also a responsibility center.
5. In the era of specialization and
decentralization, let the title work according to
the name or named according to the work.
6. Let’s we give birth to more titles for
progression of individual performers, instead of
supervisory ladder only.
The speaker requested, ‘Before I move ahead let’s
have your words on them and then we continue
it further’

The few mathematics in Sulbasƫtra are:

A rope stretched along the length of the diagonal
produces an area which the vertical and horizontal
sides make together.
Bodhayana also states that if a and b be the two sides
and c be the hypotenuse, such that ‘a’ is divisible by 4
(as in all pythogorean triplets one of the two shorter
sides ateast is divisible by 4).Now, c = (a - a/8) + b/2
This method makes us solve without using squares
and square roots.

The diagonal [lit. “doubler”] of a square. The measure
is to be increased by a third and by a fourth decreased
by the 34th. That is its diagonal approximately.
That is,
Other theorems include: Circling the square,
diagonals of rectangle bisect each other, diagonals
of rhombus bisect at right angles, area of a square
formed by joining the middle points of a square is
half of original, the midpoints of a rectangle joined
forms a rhombus whose area is half the rectangle,
etc.
Note: the emphasis on rectangles and squares; this
arises from the need to specify yajña bhĆ«mikās—i.e.
the altar on which a rituals were conducted, including
fire offerings (yajña).

Children are the best teachers
One experience I read somewhere and I felt
to share with you.
The words of a mother about her experience
with one year daughter. The experience
carries multiple lessons and emotions. The
story is narrated by Madam Taz Tagore:
‘My 1-year old daughter Ayla taught me that
lesson last week when I found her asleep in
the bathtub. Let me explain.
Since Ayla is now sleeping in her own (door-
less)room,sheispronetowakeupinthewee
hours and wander around the apartment or
into my bed. Last week, Ayla woke up and
stumbled into the bathroom. I’m not sure
exactly what transpired but my best guess
is that she accidentally closed the bathroom
door and couldn’t reach the handle. She was
stuck.
While most babies would scream out in
her situation—knowing that their light-
sleeping parents would quickly come to the
rescue—Ayla stayed put. She didn’t cry or
scream out. Instead, she navigated around
the bathroom by the dim glow of the night-
light. She gathered a few towels. She found
a pair of my leggings. Then she got into the
tub and somehow fashioned a small bed out
of them. Finally, she put herself to sleep.
She had just turned one—only a few days
before this happened.
The next morning, unable to get out of her
tiny bed, she called out to me and I came
running into her room. When I didn’t find
her there, my heart started pounding, loud
and fierce. Then I checked the bathroom
and found her standing up in the bathtub. It
took a second to register the salient details
of the scene: Her towel-and-legging bed, the
scratch on her nose (from the faucet?), her
well-rested countenance. There wasn’t a
trace of injury—no bruises or bleeding.
I quickly grabbed Ayla and pulled her close.
I scanned her face and body to make sure
she wasn’t hurt. Within seconds she was
cooing and laughing—she was her usual,
happy self.
Over the next 24 hours, the significance of
Ayla’s bathtub adventure unraveled itself
from the knot of worry that had formed
in my belly. I had to remind myself that I
didn’t sleep through Ayla’s cries—we are too
deeply connected for that to happen. The
truth of the matter was that Ayla didn’t call
out for me. Her instinct told her not to panic.
Her gut reaction was to convert a less-than-
ideal situation into something agreeable.
She was creative. She improvised. She relied
on her body and her intuition to guide her to
safety. A 1-year old infant did all of this in
the middle of the night.
In the days since I found Ayla in the bathtub, I
keep the bathroom door locked at night. But
more importantly, I see Ayla in a different
light. She is no longer just a baby in my eyes.
I see her as a human being with a formidable
character. She is a tremendous problem
solver. She has the even-handedness of a
surgeon. She is a wise soul.’
We can learn a lot but with openness and
calmness. Children are the best teachers;
let’s grow and win together

Gu na-sh-ra-ya-mz april,2013

  • 1. Gunashrayamz Newsletter A shelter under the virtues with zeal. Volume: 2 - Issue: April 2013 FOR INTERNAL CIRCULATION ONLY Titles Indian Saints Vikrami Samvat Vikrami Samvat, the Indian calendar having its birthday between March- April, planned to invite different Calendars to his birthday this time. Falling on the first day of Shukal paksh (the date after no moon day or new moon day) of Chaitr month. This year it falls on 11th April as per the Gregorian calendar. When he shared his dream with other family members, nobody had taken him seriously. He thought that either he was too old to celebrate or not too famous to create an excitement. Everybody thought that the day is just a matter of ritual and religious activity. The celebration was missing somewhere. In the thoughts and tears he slept as it is. Next day he found that everyone is celebrating his birthday, lot many parties and huge celebrations. He was at every desk, at every electronic device and everything was decorated. People were giving blessings and wishes to each other. Everyone was happy. He again found himself in tears, the tears of pleasure and happiness. But soon he realized that nothing was there except the sun rays on his head. It was already noon. The life of his dream was very short. But determined to fulfill his dreams and committed on his decision, he searched for all the philosophies and principles. He found the only one principle that works in everything and every time. And it was “Interdependence’, the saying he remembered was “everything and everyone have their own time”. Immediately he decided to take the help of the Gregorian calendar. Success knows the passage to succeed. He wrote a letter to his counterpart: Dear Brother Namaskar – Greetings!!!
life is the most beautiful gift of the God; relations are the precious treasures
Today we have traveled for more than two thousand years together. Embarked with many events and people. Many of our offspring are known and celebrated again and again and few found theirselves in forgotten history. I need your help. I wish to celebrate my birthday and birthday of every calendar. Birthdays in a big way. As you have the global reach, you understand and know everyone, I wish you to be a part of the host and the organizer’s team, our team. I believe that you will manage the required time for the requested responsibility. I am incomplete without you. Looking forward to spread prosperity and embark on every offspring together... Yours truly, Vikrami Samvat “Thousands of candles can be lit from a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened. Happiness never decreases by being shared.” Gautama Buddha Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards. Soren Aabye Kierkegaard
  • 2. Gunashrayamz FOR INTERNAL CIRCULATION ONLY Titles ‘In this time of competition, excellence and globalization we need to grow everyday and every minute. As everybody is putting their potential at best, let we, “The Titles”, contribute and grow as well. Let’s meet on a cup of tea at my place.’ Whenthedifferenttitlesgotthismessagefromthe head title, nobody understands the meaning and everyone was surprised. But as the message was soft everybody thought to attend; few for respect, few for curiosity and few just to be there. Every title was there. The range of the age was from few thousand years to just a year or so, few were not even prevalent at present. The variety of dresses were clearly symbolizing of royalty, humility, pride, respect, arrogance, equality and protocol. The same was supported by the body language of each. In the midst of informal interaction, confusions and satire at few corners; the host of the meeting was there. The royal outfit was simple and graceful; an aura of knowledge, wisdom and intellect was glowing all around; the age was incompetent to cloud the shine of the young energy. Carrying a huge experience, the competent was capable of creating a balance between time tested values and new innovations; respecting the words of age and allowing toddlers and infants to have their voice. The meeting was started with the serving of tea and snacks. ‘We are here to understand that after a very long the human society is coming together. Thanks to IT and communication channels. The government and private players are working parallel for different industries, especially for our today’s team – The Education. New challenges and opportunities are coming together. In this mist of change, we, ‘The Titles’ have to understand our role. Let’s we understand the challenges and opportunities together. We must carry the culture, heritage and traditions, not for the sake of carrying only but also with philosophical need and governance. May be few seasoned have to leave their position to give passage to new ones; new to understand the philosophy that worked and the purpose of their birth. This is all my understanding and perception; you all are open to share your minds on them. Let’s open the discussion with: 1. In the mist of changes the visitors to our places are confused with variety and number of Titles. We are not similar at different institutes for similar responsibility. Not institutes only but also organizations, as we are now organizations and companies also. 2. We unable to represent our work by our names. The visitor and the holder of title, both are not clear. Somewhere efficiency is lacking and at much of places the effectiveness. 3. Every title must add values to the work. 4. We must not be the only symbol of authority and ego boosting but also a responsibility center. 5. In the era of specialization and decentralization, let the title work according to the name or named according to the work. 6. Let’s we give birth to more titles for progression of individual performers, instead of supervisory ladder only. The speaker requested, ‘Before I move ahead let’s have your words on them and then we continue it further’
Manish Kumar Aggarwal The Mindfood Chef “It is Nature that causes all movement. Deluded by the ego, the fool harbors the perception that says “I did it”.” Veda Vyasa Maharshi “It is not titles that honour men, but men that honour titles.” NiccolĂČ Machiavelli

Gunashrayamz FOR INTERNAL CIRCULATION ONLY Children are the best teachers One experience I read somewhere and I felt to share with you. The words of a mother about her experience with one year daughter. The experience carries multiple lessons and emotions. The story is narrated by Madam Taz Tagore: ‘My 1-year old daughter Ayla taught me that lesson last week when I found her asleep in the bathtub. Let me explain. Since Ayla is now sleeping in her own (door- less)room, sheispronetowakeupinthewee hours and wander around the apartment or into my bed. Last week, Ayla woke up and stumbled into the bathroom. I’m not sure exactly what transpired but my best guess is that she accidentally closed the bathroom door and couldn’t reach the handle. She was stuck. While most babies would scream out in her situation—knowing that their light- sleeping parents would quickly come to the rescue—Ayla stayed put. She didn’t cry or scream out. Instead, she navigated around the bathroom by the dim glow of the night- light. She gathered a few towels. She found a pair of my leggings. Then she got into the tub and somehow fashioned a small bed out of them. Finally, she put herself to sleep. She had just turned one—only a few days before this happened. The next morning, unable to get out of her tiny bed, she called out to me and I came running into her room. When I didn’t find her there, my heart started pounding, loud and fierce. Then I checked the bathroom and found her standing up in the bathtub. It took a second to register the salient details of the scene: Her towel-and-legging bed, the scratch on her nose (from the faucet?), her well-rested countenance. There wasn’t a trace of injury—no bruises or bleeding. I quickly grabbed Ayla and pulled her close. I scanned her face and body to make sure she wasn’t hurt. Within seconds she was cooing and laughing—she was her usual, happy self. Over the next 24 hours, the significance of Ayla’s bathtub adventure unraveled itself from the knot of worry that had formed in my belly. I had to remind myself that I didn’t sleep through Ayla’s cries—we are too deeply connected for that to happen. The truth of the matter was that Ayla didn’t call out for me. Her instinct told her not to panic. Her gut reaction was to convert a less-than- ideal situation into something agreeable. She was creative. She improvised. She relied on her body and her intuition to guide her to safety. A 1-year old infant did all of this in the middle of the night. In the days since I found Ayla in the bathtub, I keep the bathroom door locked at night. But more importantly, I see Ayla in a different light. She is no longer just a baby in my eyes. I see her as a human being with a formidable character. She is a tremendous problem solver. She has the even-handedness of a surgeon. She is a wise soul.’ We can learn a lot but with openness and calmness. Children are the best teachers; let’s grow and win together
