Losses in optical fibers include attenuation from absorption and scattering, as well as dispersion effects. Attenuation is caused by absorption of light energy through heating of impurities in the fiber, resulting in a loss of optical power over length. Dispersion causes pulse broadening and occurs from intermodal and intramodal effects such as material and waveguide dispersion. An optical time domain reflectometer (OTDR) can be used to detect faults, splices, and bends in fibers by emitting light pulses and measuring backscattered light over time to map reflections in the fiber.
The past decade has seen significant advancement in the field of consumer electronics. Various ‘intelligent’ appliances such as cellular phones, air-conditioners, home security devices, home theatres, etc. are set to realize the concept of a smart home. They have given rise to a Personal Area Network in home environment, where all these appliances can be interconnected and monitored using a single controller.
Busy families and individuals with physical limitation represent an attractive market for home automation and networking. A wireless home network that does not incur additional costs of wiring would be desirable. Bluetooth technology, which has emerged in late 1990s, is an ideal solution for this purpose.

A Klystron is a vacuum tube that can be used either as a generator or as an amplifier or as an oscillator, at microwave frequencies. The Klystron is a linear beam device; that is, the electron flow is in a straight line focused by an axial magnetic field.
Small-scale fading in wireless channels is caused by multipath propagation. There are three main effects: rapid signal strength changes over small distances/times, random Doppler shifts from multipath signals, and time dispersion of echoes. Multipath results from reflection, diffraction and scattering off surroundings. Several methods measure multipath structure including direct RF pulse systems, spread spectrum sliding correlators, and frequency domain channel sounding using vector network analyzers. These techniques help determine power delay profiles and understand time-varying multipath effects.
Obstacle Avoiding Robot
Robotics is a branch of science that deals with Mechanical, Electrical and Software fields. Robots are the machines that are used in our day-to-day to life to reduce men power and work accurately without any distortions. Robots can be classified into two different sections basing upon their skills as Automated and Manual. Obstacle detector is a Automated robot which itself recognizes the obstacle in its path and moves in free direction. Robot detects the obstacle by using two IR Sensors placed in front.
The IR sensors are placed on left and right side of the robot through which continuous Infrared radiation is emitted for detection of obstacles in the path. These IR Sensors are connected to a controlling element AT89c51 µc. When a obstacle is placed in the path of robot IR beam is reflected to the sensor from the obstacle. On detecting obstacle in the path sensor sends 0 volts to µc. This 0 voltage is detected by Microcontroller which avoids the obstacle by taking left or right turn. Similarly if the sensor sends +5v to Microcontroller, the Microcontroller assumes it as clear path and makes the robot to move in straight.
Two motors namely right motor and left motor are connected to Motor driver IC (L293D). L293D is interface with Microcontroller. Microcontroller sends logic 0 & logic 1 as per the programming to driver IC which makes motors to rotate in clockwise and anticlockwise direction. Wheels attached to the motors rotate accordingly with the motor shaft causing in the moment of the robot by wheels. In front portion of the robot a free wheel is attached to move the robot easily in any direction as per the requirement.
A 12Volts DC battery is attached to the circuit. As the microcontroller and sensors requires only 5v, set of resistors and capacitors are used to supply 5v DC to them. Power Management System is not maintained in the circuit as the battery can be removed after the usage of robot. So it does not cause any loss in the power of battery.
This type of robots has multiple applications in various fields. They can be used to know the strength of the opposite army in defense system. They can be used as floor and wall cleaners. They are used in automated GPS vehicles to calculate the moment of the vehicle overhead. These robots are easy to construct and cheaper in cost with long durability.

Final Project
Final Project Details:
Description: Given a specific scenario, create an appropriate IP addressing scheme, document a given network by creating a logical network diagram and create the appropriate access lists for use on the routers. Deliverables:
· Demonstrate the theory and practice of Cisco networking, routing, and switching strategies as outlined in the Cisco CCENT Certification exam
Prior to implementing any design we need to first write-up our proposed network design on paper. With that in mind, we begin by performing a network discovery. Once we have identified all the network devices and the needs of the organization, we can document the TCP/IP information that is needed for our design. In this exercise you will determine the subnet information for each department and assign IP addresses for the network devices.
You have been assigned as a networking tech for a new client, AAA Fabricating. The network is configured with a Class C network and the current allocation of IP addresses has been depleted. You have been tasked to reconfigure the network with a Class B address and assign a subnet to each of the 10 departments and the three routers.
Your network audit consists of the following information:
AAA Fabrication consists of 10 departments spread across three buildings.
Each building is connected using three Cisco 2800 Series routers. The three routers are located in the MIS wiring closet in Building 2.
Each department has its own Cisco 2950 switch.
There are at least two workstations in each department.
The company plans to use a class B address range starting at 172.16.0.0.
Each department must be assigned a subnet. Subnets should be designed to allow for the maximum number of hosts on each department subnet using classful subnetting.
The company also wants the three routers to communicate on the minimum quantity of IP addresses using three subnets.

The multimedia content has an exponential increase. The final user feels the need to get the media content each time faster. One of the easiest way to get this content, is centralizing it in one place, and in most cases, making it available to the public, to the internet (almost all the things are connected to the network). This type of architecture is called “Media Server”, who is able to serve this type of content to many devices (Smartphones, computers, TV…). The processes that we focus on this white paper has relation with a software integration in a Media Server in order to get access through this intermediate element.
We will demonstrate how easy is get all content of a Media Server, in particular, a Plex, through a third party application without protection. This situation motivated me to write it.
The intention is take consciousness of these situations and let any user to know how easy get is any type of content of anyone if this is not well protected (We do not distortion with deep technical terms).

Our team wrote three articles related to the code analysis of Tizen operating system. The operating system contains a lot of code, so this is the reason why it is a fertile ground for writing different articles. I think that we will go back again to Tizen in future, but right now other interesting projects are waiting for us. So, I will sum up some results of the work done and answer a number of questions that have arisen after the previously published articles.

This document describes a smart doorbell project created by three students. Their goal was to develop a device that allows remote control of a door using a smartphone. They created a "SmartDoorBell" device connected to the internet and controlled by a Telegram bot. The bot allows taking photos/videos of visitors and unlocking/locking the door. The students tested scenarios for owners, friends, and strangers. They struggled implementing automation for owners using the Telegram API. Their final prototype used a beacon app to automatically unlock the door when the owner's phone was nearby.
The document provides an overview of networking concepts including TCP/IP, switching, routing, firewalls, and network address translation (NAT). It discusses the OSI model and how data moves through the different layers. It then describes the typical components of a home network, including computers, network cables, hubs/switches, and routers. Routers are explained in more detail, covering how they work, routing, and NAT/PAT. The document aims to explain why applications like DCC may not work by detailing the various networking devices and concepts involved in home networks.

Building an Open Source iOS app: lessons learned
Dec 12, 2016, Hacker Dojo (Santa Clara), 6pm
In this talk I'm going to talk about lessons learned from building Sensorama (http://www.sensorama.org), an Open Source sensor platform for data science. The main theme of the talk will be Open Source: what is great about it, what is bad and how you must become a part of the Open Source community to really move quickly and benefit from it. For this project, I did both the code and the design, so you'll have a chance to see how solo-developer deals with time/feature constraints, which tools I've used and what my approach towards development in this mode is. In other words: I'll tell you what I did to stay sane. If the iOS development were a walk in a dark city park, this talk may turn out to be your flashlight. This document provides an introduction to the Python programming language. It discusses that Python is an object-oriented, high-level programming language designed by Guido van Rossum. The document then covers general Python concepts like case sensitivity, indentation, objects, scope, and namespaces. It explains some key advantages of using Python, such as its simple syntax, open source status, portability, lack of type restrictions, large standard libraries, and interpretive nature. Finally, it lists some common applications of Python, including web development, scientific computing, networking, and games.
This document summarizes a presentation on developing WebSocket servers in Python. It discusses what WebSockets are and why they are useful for web development. It then outlines the steps demonstrated in a chat application example, beginning with basic WebSocket integration, adding chat functionality without message queuing, and finally integrating the RabbitMQ message broker. The document provides code links and discusses ways the example application could be improved.
What every C++ programmer should know about modern compilers (w/ comments, AC...Sławomir Zborowski
This document discusses compilers and their capabilities. It notes that compilers support multiple languages as inputs and targets, can perform many optimizations, and include tools to help developers write better code. Modern compilers are highly customizable and include sanitizers to detect bugs and undefined behavior at runtime. The document emphasizes that compilers are complex programs that can outperform attempts by developers to manually optimize code.

HijackLoader Evolution: Interactive Process HollowingDonato Onofri
CrowdStrike researchers have identified a HijackLoader (aka IDAT Loader) sample that employs sophisticated evasion techniques to enhance the complexity of the threat. HijackLoader, an increasingly popular tool among adversaries for deploying additional payloads and tooling, continues to evolve as its developers experiment and enhance its capabilities.
In their analysis of a recent HijackLoader sample, CrowdStrike researchers discovered new techniques designed to increase the defense evasion capabilities of the loader. The malware developer used a standard process hollowing technique coupled with an additional trigger that was activated by the parent process writing to a pipe. This new approach, called "Interactive Process Hollowing", has the potential to make defense evasion stealthier.
