Non-ferrous scrap metal
Corrugated cardboard

Tin cans
Recyclable materials refer to any waste
material retrieved from the waste stream
and free from contamination that can still
be converted into suitable beneficial use.
These may be transformed into new
products in such a manner that the
original products may lose their identity.
Examples:
Fruit and vegetable peelings
Leftover foods
Vegetable trims
Fish/fowl/meat/animal entrails
Soft shells
Seeds
Leaves
Flowers
Twigs
Branches
Stems
Compostable wastes are biodegradable wastes
such as food waste, garden waste, animal waste
and human waste. They undergo biological
degradation under controlled conditions and can
be turned into compost (soil conditioner or
organic fertilizer) by mixing them with soil, water,
air and biological additives/activators (optional).

household hazardous wastes. Examples:
Sanitary napkins
Disposable diapers
Worn-out rugs
Cartons which contain a plastic lining
usually used for milk and juice
containers
Ceramics
Candy wrappers/sachets
Other soiled materials that cannot be
composted and recycled
Residual wastes are solid waste materials
that are non-compostable and non-
recyclable. It should be disposed
ecologically through a long-term disposal
facility or sanitary landfill.

8. The Environmental Management Bureau (DENR-EMB) of the
Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR)
seeks to ensure the protection of the environment and
public health through the execution of ecological solid
waste management legislation.
No matter where you go, trash is placed everywhere to
help deal with the enormous amount of trash around us.
Everywhere we want, we can reduce, reuse, and recycle.
In addition to safeguarding public health, promoting
sanitation, and protecting citizens from biohazards and
physical harm, proper solid waste management also offers
prospects for the recycling business.

9. TAU Ecological and Solid Waste Management Society
and its responsible officers are leading to promote
and create collaborative activities like competitions,
seminars and other environmental actions.
Otherwise, it boosts the awareness and enhances the
first hand experience of the students, therefore,
students will be able to contributes to the cleanliness
and orderliness of the environment and to the
community as well.
