after a life on the track, some are rehomed but many are sold to slaughter for the sake of a
paycheck. Luckily, there are activists in the equestrian world standing ready to take these in these
helpless athletes. Gallop On, a non profit thoroughbred rescue located in northern Ohio, was
founded to do just that.
Heidi Van De Motter, the owner of Gallop On, currently has 15 horses in her care. Her goal is to
have them retrained and sold for the use of another sport.
Thousands of Thoroughbred racehorses will have only a three to four year racing career if any at
all. There may be no future for them at all and possibly slaughter. Van De Motter said.
Horses are trained by Heidi s interns in basic dressage and jumping, very different from their past

Alzheimer s each year? Alzheimer s and Parkinson s date back to the 1700 s and 1800 s to when
they were discovered. These illnesses are just as terrifying to the families as it is to the patient.
Because of the scare in the diseases, these families wanted answers. The patients were sent to James
Parkinson and Alois Alzheimerwhich were the doctors who diagnosed these illnesses. Alois

A1). He was born into a catholic family and had an early interest in science. His father was a
royal notary in the kingdom of Bavaria, and because of his first wife s death during child birth,

In his report in 1908 of Auguste s illness, he was able to take the credit and name the illness after
himself because he had discovered plaque only and plaque and tangles in the brain to be different

Susan Brownell Anthony was a fierce and powerful woman who was very determined to fight for
equal rights. Her speeches and enthusiasm captured the attention of many, and this was important
because she influenced the government to finally pass the 19th amendment which gave women
suffrage in 1920. She powered through all the obstacles that were imposed on her. Later, her name
went down in history.
On February 15, 1820 in Adams Massachusetts, Susan B. Anthonywas born into a large Quaker
family consisting of her mother, father, four sisters and two brothers; she was the second oldest of

Many of them happened when she made her speeches. She wore bloomers, pants that symbolized
women s rights, to all of them. However, she stopped because nobody would listen to her. She
even made her speeches in the freezing cold, or possibly being pelted with food and snow. But
even though her speeches helped the cause, the male africans getting suffrage in 1866 didn t.
Though it was a good thing, Susan protested that it was unfair for africans to get suffrage but not
women, which made the male abolitionists, whom she was acquainted with, turn on her because
they thought she only was focused on women s rights. After this, she decided she would vote
illegally. In 1872, she went to vote. They let her after she showed them a copy of the fourteenth
amendment, which allowed citizens to vote. Three weeks later, Susan was unfairly arrested and the
amendment was changed from allowing citizens to vote, to allowing male citizens to vote; this
angered her very much. Many years later, Susan started a campaign for women s suffrage. She was
going to win until a liquor company said it would ruin business. To make matters worse, Elizabeth
Cady Stanton passed away in 1902. At her small funeral, she asked for a single picture to be
