This study examined the beneficial effects of green tea on BMI and WHR in healthy volunteers over 3 months. Twenty volunteers with a BMI over 23 were given 200ml of green tea daily. Measurements of weight, BMI, abdominal girth, and waist-hip ratio were taken at baseline and months 1, 2, and 3. There was a significant reduction in both weight and BMI observed in the 13 volunteers who drank green tea regularly. However, reductions in abdominal girth and WHR were insignificant. The study concluded that green tea consumption for 3 months can significantly reduce weight and BMI in healthy individuals.
