A New Zealand study indicates that a whole food plant-based diet can significantly aid in weight loss, reverse type 2 diabetes, and lower cholesterol levels without calorie restrictions. Participants, who could eat unlimited amounts of specified foods, lost an average of 11.5 kilograms over a year and experienced a 29% reduction in medication usage. The results highlight the diet's effectiveness and sustainability, as participants reported no change in food expenses and continued to enjoy their meals.
