Regional Pain Syndrome Speech
Hello, I am Lisa Proctor and this is After CRPS (WEBCAST). Today I thought I could talk to you
about Complex Regional Pain Syndrome and what I have learned it is. ............. Complex Regional
Pain Syndrome aka The Suicide Disease is a neurodegenerative disorder characterized by the
following criteria... Pain which is out of proportion to the injury; autonomic dysregulation;
neuropathic edema; movement disorder, as well as atrophy and dystrophy of the muscular
tissue........................ It is most often caused by a fracture, soft tissue injury or surgical procedure.
CRPS was previously known within the medical community as reflex sympathetic dystrophy CRPS
type 1 and Causalgia CRPS type 2...... Interestingly enough, the differences ... Show more content on

I fell on the 9th of February in 2012 and without warning went from caregiver to care given. Formally
diagnosed with CRPS in 2015 just before a last ditch effort to allow me some sort of life after
diagnosis I went forward with the implantation of the Spinal Cord Stimulator with the hope that the
device would disrupt the pain signal. Because of its failure to address my pain and which in fact
caused additional pain due to the how the device was installed, I had to find something else to help
me. I wanted more out of life, I expected more out of life. So began my journey of discovery to regain
my independence and a quality of life I once lost. It has taken almost three years now after reading
that the underlying cause of CRPS was an autoimmune related condition to achieve the unexpected by
turning around my prognosis and I ve only just begun. ...... It is because of individuals such as yourself
who are where I was, feeling lost and abandoned by the mainstream medical community who gave life
to After CRPS. It was your overwhelming requests for me to share my discoveries and how I have
been able to regain my independence which encourages me to keep up the fight and for that, I say

Saxophone History
The saxophone is a great instrument that has been used all over the world for more than a century. It
brings joy to people through the music that it plays. It is the instrument family that pushed the Jazz
Swing era to be what it was. The soldiers would bring their Military Jazz bands over seas with them to
play for them when they were sitting at base. Other countries started playing jazz music because they
heard it and liked it too.
The alto saxophone is in a family of 4 main instruments, but there are a few more that are uncommon.
There is the a soprano, alto, tenor, and baritone. There is still the bass, sub contra bass, and then the
contra bass. The alto saxophone has a range of two and a half octaves, so, about twenty notes. It is
played in jazz bands, and on occasions, it is in symphonies. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Similarities Between Kepler And Kepler s Platonist...
According to the common belief during the Middle Ages, the universe was comprised of many nested
celestial spheres, or orbs. According to M.S. Mahoney, an astronomical researcher at Princeton
University, Johannes Kepler, in his physics research, regarded the spheres as the geometrical spatial
regions containing each planetary orbit rather than physical bodies as in preceding Aristotelian
celestial physics . Kepler provided mathematical evidence to this theory, including the fact that the
eccentricity of each planet s elliptical orbit and its major and minor axes defined the lengths of the
radii of the inner and outer limits of its celestial sphere and, therefore, its thickness. The role of these
geometrical spheres in Kepler s Platonist geometrical cosmology was to determine the sizes and
ordering of the five Platonic polyhedral within which the spheres were supposedly spatially embedded
(Mahoney). Although each sphere rotated uniformly, the combination of their separate revolutions
prompted the discovery of the appearance of the irregularity in the motions of the sun and the plants as
astronomers viewed from the Earth. The notion that the planets were celestial three dimensional
spheres rather than concrete two dimensional objects contributed to the naming of Pythagoras s theory,
known as the Harmony of the Spheres. The Music of the Spheres, also known as Musica Universalis,
originated from the Greek philosopher, Pythagoras. During his time, the celestial spheres

Lab Report 5 A. Coughran 4/12/17
Objective:
The objective in Lab 5 is to measure and determine the strength and location of magnetic fields using
a coil, solenoid, and magnets. The experimental values of the strength of the magnetic fields of the
solenoid and the coil will be calculated and then compared to their respective theoretical values for
accuracy.
Theory:
Field line patterns exist within a magnetic field that is created by a current. These field lines of a coil
or a solenoid can be traced by using a compass because they create a dipole pattern, meaning that they
diverge from the north end and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Finally, the negative and positive power supply plugs were switched to see if this had any effect on the
magnetic field of the coil. Both did not have significant effect.
Procedure B: Field Patterns Inside a Solenoid
A slinky was stretched on the lab bench and taped down with the turns of each slinky at roughly 1 cm
apart. Positive and negative alligator clips were then attached to each end of the slinky to allow for
current flow through the slinky. Next, a Vernier magnetic field probe was placed in the center of the
slinky, zeroed, and set to high sensitivity for accuracy. The power supply was then turned on and
adjusted until the current reached about 0.5A.
Data collection was started and the average experimental magnetic field values, B, were measured
several times for accuracy. An average of these values was then taken using the analyze statistics tool
and then stored in Logger Pro for inclusion in the data section. Next, the theoretical value B value for
the solenoid was measured using Equation 1 above and compared to the average experimental B value
mentioned previously in order to check the setup. A percent error was calculated between each of
these values at each current setting.
Once the setup showed good accuracy and was adjusted, the current was varied from 0A to 1.0A and
magnetic field data was collected. The magnetic field data and the

Pride And Arrogance In Into Thin Air By Jon Krakauer
Into Thin Air
Many people think that nature can be tamed. For example, most people think a mountain is a force to
conquer. Reaching the top is like a victory over the mountain. No one can consider every element of
nature. But Nature shows its dominance in the face of human error and arrogance. In the Book Into
thin air many of the characters display pride and arrogance in their abilities to tame nature and climb
Mt. Everest.
The expedition guides show arrogance and pride while trying to climb Mount Everest. At one point
Scott Fischer states that he has built a yellow brick road to the summit (Krakauer 86). Fischer has
great pride in his ability to climb Everest he developed arrogance towards the mountain. It is foolish to

When Krakauer first meets his team he thinks to himself, I wasn t sure what to make of my fellow
clients. In outlook and experience they were nothing like the hard core climbers with whom I usually
went into the mountains (Krakuaer 39). Krakuaer represents a sense of arrogance to his team because
he had been on other mountain climbing expeditions and most of everyone else on his team had little
to no experience climbing. He is implying that he is one of the best climbers on his team. Another time
Krakuaer states the incompetence of other clients and groups on the expedition: The presence of the
Taiwanese on Everest was a matter of grave concern to most of the other expeditions on the mountain.
There was a very real fear that the Taiwanese would suffer a calamity that would compel other
expeditions to come to their aid, risking further lives, to say nothing of jeopardizing the opportunity
for other climbers to reach the summit (122 Krakauer). Krakauer thinks that the Taiwanese would
prevent people from reaching the mountain because all the other expeditions would have to come to
their aid, further putting more peoples lives in danger. Krakauer shows pride in his ability in climbing,

was known for her philanthropy and her marriage with the Prince. The accident was known around the
world and many newspapers and news programs wrote articles about the late Princess s death. The

The speaker is Queen Elizabeth, the audience is anyone watching the televised speech, and the subject
is the remembrance of Diana. The intent of the Queens speech is to pay tribute to late Diana and also
thank everyone for the flowers, messages, and respects paid to Diana. I believe that the speech was
rhetorically effective because of the emotion that the speaker conveys. Logos is established because
we know that the speaker is the Queen of England. However, pathos is the most common in this
speech. The Queen is distressed about the death of a family member, and it shows in her speech. The
speech is written in a sweet style. Examples of this are So what I say to you now, as your queen and as
a grandmother, I say from my heart. , and, I share in your determination to cherish her memory. Diana
s brother, Earl Spencer, gave a eulogy for her on September 6, 1997. In the eulogy he speaks of how
much Diana meant to the people of not only England, but also the people of the world. Within the
speech, the Earl becomes passionate about his sister and the things that she did during her life. One
example that he gave was that on her birthday, she did not celebrate the day but instead was the guest
of honor at a charity fundraising event. The speaker is Earl Spencer, the brother of the late Princess.

circumstances, they could let their tribe fight and possibly face death. Moving away was a horrible
journey and they would also possibly face death. Or stay and accept the new culture. They had to let
go of their long and important history. But as hard as they tried when President Jackson became
president a few years later, the attitude towards Native Americans had changed completely. Jackson
was not friendly with the Native American tribes (in the south), and soon they were pressured to leave

Electronic Health Care Case Study
The implementation of new information technology systems into existing organizations is not a new
concept as the possible process improvements for a business can be fairly obvious when compared to
more traditional non computer based processes. One sector, which for the most part is transitioning
into using information systems in an attempt to improve processes, is the health sector. This report
observes and analyses multiple real life cases of health care providers from the United States who
have decided to upgrade from traditional paper based patient charts to computer based Electronic
Health Records (EHR). It should be noted that all of the case studies observed in this report were
created by the Centre for Aging Services Technologies who describe themselves as being focused on
development, evaluation and adoption of emerging technologies in the medical sector. The Centre for
Aging Services Technologies is an international group made up of 400 technology companies research
universities and government representatives. The United States government describes Electronic
Health Records as being digital versions of a patients paper chart (Healthit.gov, 2014). Electronic
health records typically include information on patients including the patient s medical history,
medications the patient takes, treatment plans, immunization dates, allergies, radiology images and
test results. With this being said it would first seem that EHR s are simple data collection and storage

The Purpose of Advertising Essay
The Purpose of Advertising
The purpose of advertising is to familiarise the public with a certain brand or product. Companies
spend millions of pounds a year on advertising so that when the public are searching for a product or
service a certain brand is recognised and, as a result, their product or service is chosen.
Companies need to ensure that their money is spent wisely. They do this by completing extensive
market and physcological research. Members of the public from a company s target group or audience
are chosen to express their views about the advertisment before it is published or aired.

This is illustrated in the first advertisment, for Chanel No.5 perfume.
The classic, sophisticated design immediately sets the tone for the advert and for the type of audience
it has been aimed at.
Chanel is an icon of the 21st century and its image needs to be preserved by attracting new customers.
The modern, yet timeless layout of the promotion emphasises on this, but the advert is traditional
enough to appeal to older audiences. This shows that although Chanel wish to attract a newer
audience, they also desire to keep their traditional customers loyal to the marque, hence the non
controversial advertisment.
The advert itself has remained almost unchanged for the last forty years, as Chanel wish to preserve
their image. However, to appeal to successive generations the visual treatment has recieved subtle
changes, such as the inclusion of a more modern looking colour scheme.
The advert instantly grabs the reader with its striking, simplistic design. The contrast between the two
main colours adds to the classic meets modern feel that Chanel were aiming for.
Chanel is a name dating back to the 1930 s. Over the years, it has been associated with the world of
fashion, style and elegent living throughout the world.

Philosophy and Ethics on the Field
Philosophy and Ethics
My coaching philosophy will be based on athlete safety regardless off or on the field, player
development not just in sport, but in themselves as a person and through education, and well being of
the athlete such as their responsibility if you were to play sport.
When you are playing sport is the same thing as learning in school, you must have a positive behavior
to everyone in your team and classroom. Also, if you are to play sport for the school you must do well
in school so therefore you can participate in sport. When you play a sport you listen to the coaches
giving out examples and then you go out to the field and executed. You must do the same thing in life
with your parents when they need help from you; you must listen and then go executed like in sport.
Example: As an athlete your responsibility is to come to practice, practice hard, develop skill, and win
games. As a student you have to do your homework, study for your exam, and do well in school. For a
son or daughter you have to help your parents cook, clean, and do chore around the house and get
ready to go to school again. Everyone has their own responsibility to take care if you want to become
an athlete, students, and a good child you must grow up.
DOMAIN 2 Safety and Injury Prevention
When an athlete is hurt or injure as a coach you must know what to do and have the right decision
making with the athlete if to play him or put him back into the game. You as a coach should be

Gunther Schuller s Music For Brass Ensemble
In the second movement of his Music for Brass Quintet, Gunther Schuller utilizes unique articulations,
rhythmic variance, and different combinations of mutes resulting in tension built from the swiftly
changing textures. Throughout the movement Schuller takes advantage of brass instruments ability to
double and triple tongue quickly. As seen in measure 3, he sets up the trumpet, horn, and trombone to
tongue at different speeds while raising in dynamic. Due to the similar timbre of these instruments, the
result is an unstable homophonic texture that sounds aggressive. Schuller then has the instruments
jump down to a piano dynamic. This decision is risky, due to the fact that all of the instruments are
entering, and that it will be difficult ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first instance is in measure 46, where all but the horn removes their mutes. While it would be
assumed that the only muted voice would be the foreground of the section, the opposite is presented
here. The horn continues the ostinato figure from the previous figure. Overall this allows for the rest
of the ensemble to act as the solo voices collectively, and allows the rhythmic variance they have
against the horn to stand out. In measure 68 we see the opposite combination used, where everyone is
muted except for the tuba. This was likely done so that the tuba would have a distinct difference in
color comparatively. This is necessary for its melodic line to cut through the ensemble. The end of the
piece features the only change in the muted horn in the movement. In measure 73 Schuller marks the
horn to play half muted. This technique results in a hold unstable sound, perfect for summing up the
themes of the movement.
In Gunther Schuller s second movement of his Music for Brass Quintet, he utilizes brass instruments
range, articulations, and muting abilities to create an unstable rhythmically complex piece that still
carries a melodic

Civil War Amputations Essay
Amputations were very common during the civil war because there were no antibiotics and infection
was very common. Many things could result in amputations including gunshot wounds, infections,
multiple breaks in a bone, injury, etc. Chloroform was used to sedate patients before surgery for an
amputation. Most amputees would not go back into battle. Over 75% of the amputees survived
surgery, which was a lot considering that medical knowledge wasn t that advanced since America had
a mindset of war over medicine, at the time. Also, since there were so many amputations and almost
all of the surgeons could do them, doctors were nicknamed sawbones .
This pamphlet was a guide for a surgeon to perform an amputation. As most surgeons had very little
medical training, this was completely necessary. More than 30,000 amputations were performed
during the civil war, with a 23.4% mortality rate. As surgeons got more ... Show more content on

Essay on Reinsurance Of Catastrophe Risks
Reinsurance of Catastrophe Risks
Introduction
Extreme events happen very seldom, however, they can inflict tremendous damage when they strike.
The events are either natural occurrences (earthquake, flood, volcanoes, landslides, tsunamis) or man
made event (fire disasters, plane crashes, riots).
Increasing earthquake damage in recent years is evidence of rising vulnerability for the communities
as more people with more valuable property are residing in earthquake prone areas as it is observed by
the rapid population growth. In developing countries most of the growth is in very large urban centres,
for example, the Nairobi of today is very different from what it was 15 years ago both in population
and property.

The reinsurers then provide protection to primary insurers by insuring a portion of their claims in
exchange for a premium.
Why take Catastrophe Protection?
Insurance companies should know their exposure to catastrophic perils affecting properties they have
insured; if ignored, these perils can be life threatening because:
Compared with non catastrophe type of perils, catastrophe perils are unpredictable as to location,
frequency, and severity. While the amount of insurance liability is measured by summing the policy
limits, the amount of catastrophe exposure cannot be determined with any precision until after the
event.
The law of large numbers is limited in its benefit to the reinsured in catastrophes because they have
infrequent occurrences as they affect an individual insurance company.
The potential of un reinsured catastrophe exposures is fatal to the insurer and if not managed properly,
catastrophe perils can destroy the insurance enterprise.
After assessing the catastrophe exposure, the next critical thing is to seek for protection to cater for the
eventualities.
Management through Traditional Reinsurance
Protection for the catastrophe risks is provided by reinsurers through Catastrophe excess of loss which
covers the reinsured s retention against natural catastrophes accumulations

How Did Jane Addams Respond To The Prevalence Of...
At the turn of the 20th century, increasing vigilance of women led to the focus of placing
responsibility on both men and women for the corruption of sex workers. Both genders had a
responsibility for the prevalence of prostitution as well as to finding a solution to a prevalent problem
in metropolitan areas such as Chicago. However, rather than providing financial or social resources to
help victims of prostitution form relationships and earn a respectable place in society, many
progressive and feminists reformers as part of the Feminist Movement argued for the creation of vice
commissions in order to gather evidence and research on the connections between prostitution and
structured crime. This led to the persecution of prostitutes and the long term establishment of the
criminal industry due to the infrastructure and legal foundations for the processing and cracking down
on the Social Evil . However, there were individuals such as Jane Addams who worked tirelessly to
improve the conditions of sex workers and those who recently left the profession, but she knew that
there was a great divide between the public and the women who had been abused and used for one of
the worst sins society has prevalent within it. She accepted the task and took it in strides for she knew
that it would take empathetic cooperation on the sides of those in political/legal positions in
collaboration with citizens and those attempting to better their lives as well as the city of Chicago. She

The Death Of Ivan Ilych Analysis
In Lev Nikolayevich Tolstoy s The Death of Ivan Ilych, protagonist Ivan Ilych lives a life he considers
to be marvelous and filled with the things he wants and considers important (both physical and
emotional). He has a wonderful job he s good at, a beautiful family, a lovely house, and friends to play
games like bridge with in the evenings. One day, when he is fixing up his new home before his family
arrives, he hits his side after slipping by making bad step on a ladder. He convinces himself that it is
only a bruise, and that the pain will pass. The pain doesn t simply pass, though. Doctor after doctor
attempts to diagnose what might possibly be wrong with him, but none of them are able to agree on
what his injury is. As he continues to live his life as he planned, the sensation of pain continues to
come back to him repeatedly until he is eventually on his deathbed. As he realizes he is approaching
the very end of his life, Ivan Ilych ponders over his life and begins to question himself, asking What if
my whole life has been wrong? (Tolstoy 54). He comes to the conclusion that the things that are
important are not tangible items such as money or property. Rather, he decides that the things that
truly matter in life are intangible, such as happiness, compassion, and facing the truth. He realizes too
late that these important feelings and concepts have been missing from his life all along.

Suburbanisation in Surbiton Essay
Surbition London
Surbiton is a small borough in the South West of London just South of Kingston Upon Thames. It has
a population of nearly 170,000 people and has been at the centre of suburbanisation for many years
now. Much of the growth is form the centre of London
Timeline
1830 Train line between London and Southampton was built which ran near Surbiton.
1837 till 1952 The population of Surbiton grew from 200 to 2800.
1887 At this point the population was at just above 10000.
1930 A large amount of houses were built along in the centre of the village that were large houses and
a series of smaller houses were built going towards the River Thames increasing the population size

This causes a lot of congestion at peak times and larger vehicles such as buses and lorries cannot pass
through. Surbiton is in London travel zone 6 (zone 1 is centre of London and zone 6 covers the edge
of London), which means that train fares are quite expensive. This means that many people (40% of
Surbiton) choose to drive to work and this in turn increases the amount of traffic on the roads and
increases pollution along the roads connecting to the A3 (main road into London). The house prices
are quite high in Surbiton, the average selling price in Surbiton in 2012 was £406,000 compared to the
national average of £226,000. This makes in increasingly difficult for people on lower incomes to
move to the area which could lead to economic segregation (people with high incomes living in
different areas to those with a lower income). Another problem that was a recurring theme in the 1930
s was that people were becoming extremely ill as they couldn t afford medical attention because of the
prices they were paying for their houses along with their food and other essentials.
Management of the problems
The improvement strategy for Surbiton town centre was launched in the autumn of 2009. The strategy
involved widening a number of roads in the town, building a new access road to the station, having set

The Constitution excludes a substantial number of American citizens from the democratic process.
Approximately four million Americans residing in the U.S. territories lack voting rights and full
voting representation in Congress; consequently, creating a second class citizenship with partial
constitutional rights. These policies articulate the historically silenced voices of the people of the U.S.

Sports And Non-Student Athlete Analysis
Sports are an important part of daily life, and those who play them experience many benefits that
make them a more well rounded person. They not only provide multiple physical benefits, but also
tons of mental ones as well. I have been involved in baseball since the age of three and can definitely
notice these compared to non student athletes. The advantages of playing sports include valuable life
lessons, social skills, and future employment. First, playing sports teaches many valuable life lessons
such as responsibility and a hard work ethic. Responsibility is very crucial in life, and people use it
everyday. It ties into a student s academics because he needs to have responsibility in order to do well

Teamwork is a crucial aspect because a team wins together and loses together (Grown and Flown,
2016). A number of studies provide support for the premise that physical activity, and sports in
particular, can positively affect aspects of personal development among young people, such as self
esteem, goal setting, and leadership (Aspen Play Project, 2015). Playing sports allow students to make
new friends; they realize other people also have the same interests as them. Through teamwork,
athletes experience leadership, another aspect of teamwork. Captains must socialize with everyone
consistently and usually need to be well liked. Leadership can also affect how a team plays. It is hard
to have a great team without superb leadership and teamwork, making it necessary to have both.
Socialization also includes what people do in their free time. Compared to non athlete peers, females
are more likely to disapprove of others using them (Geier, 2012). According to Grown and Flown
(2016), Teens who have practices, games, team dinners and fitness sessions have less time for

Bor Wintour Influences
Since the founding of Vogue in 1892, its covers and glossy contents have featured the changing faces
of fashion, from models and actresses of the era to musicians, writers and businesswomen from all

the changing world of fashion we live in, where the achievements and lives of famous aspirational
women began to overshadow the now tiresome , dull supermodel era under the instruction of Vogue s
current editor in chief , Anna Wintour. Anna Wintour, Vogue s editor in chief, artistic director of

Wintour attended North London Collegiate, an independent girls school, in which Wintour spent many

The Effects of the New Child Benefits System
Arjun Jairath 120237551 In 2013 changes in child benefits came into effect in the UK. In particular,
child benefit was gradually withdrawn from individuals earning over £50,000 a year and completely
withdrawn for individuals earning more than £60,000 a year. Investigate, using the standard labour
supply model, how this change in benefits will affect labour supply decisions for a single mother with
two children who is able to find work at £30/hour. Assume that she would opt out of maximum
working time regulation in case this becomes relevant. Finally, the measure of income used in the
actual calculation is adjusted net income , which is equal to gross income minus pension contributions
and several other things. For this essay assume that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This looks as follows; As you can see, the income tax function lies on top of the original budget
constraint until it reaches £7,475 of consumption. This is because there is no tax for the initial £7,475
as it is a personal allowance. When an extra £35,000 of income is earned (a total income of £42,475),
the tax of 20% reduces the total income to £35,475 of net adjusted income. When the income is
£90,000 which is the maximum the mother can earn, the income tax reduces her income to £63,990
because of the 40% income tax after £35,000 of income. The curve then kinks away to the left at
£7,475, until it reaches an income of £35,475. At this point the curve kinks with a further decrease in
the gradient until it crosses the y axis at £63,990. The child benefits policy currently allocates £20.30
for the eldest child and £13.40 for any additional child. When this is added to the consumption
function which is adjusted to the current income tax system, the function looks as follows; When
looking at this function, you can see that the income tax curve has been shifted upwards by amount of
£1,752.40. Therefore, the curve crosses the y axis at £67,902.4 and kinks where consumption is
£9,772.4 and £37,252.4. When the changes to the child benefits system are put into place, there is a
kink from the previous consumption function (including the old benefit system and income tax) at
£50,000 until it joins the consumption

The Meaning Of The Word Profession
Across academia, scholars debate the meaning of the word profession. The term invokes many
connotations and expectations, but few can agree on an actual meaning.1 Geoffrey Millerson, a
prominent sociologist, defined profession as a type of higher grade, non manual occupation, with both
subjectively and objectively recognized occupational status, possessing a well defined area of study or
concern and providing a definite service, after advanced training and education. 2 According to
Millerson s definition, the United States Army is in fact a profession.
Millerson identifies the first component of a profession as higher grade, non manual occupation .
Many academics agree that a key component of a profession is specialized skill based on a body of
knowledge.3 Initially, many will contend that the U.S. Army does not pass the first requirement.
Soldiers work long and hard often completing tasks requiring physical strength and endurance. At first
glance, the composition and mission of the military undermines the definition of a profession.
Obviously, the military relies on a certain amount of physical labor to complete its mission. However,
the military is also composed of personnel who manage and direct the employment of assets to
strategically, operationally, or tactically defeat the enemy. The knowledge required to employ those
capabilities offsets the physical labor necessary to accomplish the task. The army requires officers to
be educated and to fulfill

In order to offset the expense of the French and Indian war England instituted new and unpopular

followed by the Stamp Act in 1765 requiring that stamps be purchased and applied to most paper

Analysis Of Stanley Cohen s Folk Devils And Moral Panics
The term Moral Panic was an expression created by Stanley Cohen in his 1972 book Folk devils and
Moral Panics . Cohen, who was a sociology professor at the University of Essex in the 60s, developed
the concept of Moral Panic as a way to describe the media coverage of the violence that spawned
between two rival youth gangs (the Mods and the Rockers) and to explain the following societal
reaction to that era s adolescent sub culture.
Since then the term has been regularly used in the media to refer to all sorts of anti social and criminal
behaviours. The use of media can create unnecessary panic about a range of different subjects, one of
the most popular being drugs.
At around the same time as Cohen s original research and study, a man named Jock Young, another
sociologist and criminologist (and a co author with Cohen of later studies including The Manufacture
of News 1981), explored the moral panic that developed around the drug use of hippies in the mid to
late 60s.
In particular he researched and examined the social reaction to the use of marijuana in the Notting Hill
area of West London and described the process of deviance amplification which is a process that
occurs as a consequence of a moral panic over a specific type of behaviour. In a nutshell, deviance
amplification is reinforcing the effect that happens as a result of a negative social reaction to such
criminal or deviant behaviour (i.e, drug use) and this happens on a daily basis in the media,

It is an unrealistic expectation of a person with ADD. What is normal is that they will be inconsistent.
Typically, they have problems with following through on instructions, paying attention appropriately
to what they need to attend to, seem not to listen, be disorganized, have poor handwriting, miss
details, have trouble starting tasks or with tasks that require planning or long term effort, appear to be
easily distracted, or forgetful. In addition, some people with ADD can be fidgety, verbally impulsive,
unable to wait their turn, and act on impulse regardless of consequences. However, it is important to
remember not all people with ADD have all of these difficulties, or all of the time.
Due to the fact that society has traditionally thought of a person with ADD as being hyper, many
children who have ADD with no hyperactivity are not being identified or treated. Individuals with
ADD without hyperactivity are sometimes thought of as daydreamers or absent minded professors.
The non hyperactive children with ADD most often seem to be girls (though girls can have ADD with
hyperactivity, and boys can have ADD without hyperactivity). Additionally, because of the ability of
an individual with ADD to over focus, or hyper focus on something that is of great interest or highly
stimulating, many untrained observers assume that this ability to concentrate negates the

sketch of a modern control chart, which is later on, developed by Deming in the 1940 s. It was the first
time when this statistical theory began to be applied to manufacturing process. However there was
little use of these techniques till the beginning of 1950 s.
By the last midcentury, the demand of quality control was highly increasing due to the raise of mass
production. The techniques of the quality control became strongly important and required during the
1940 s and 1950 s.
At the same time, Japanese people recognized the importance of quality management. They started to
implement quality management practices in their industry by the 1950 s. A decade later, Japan started
to export products to USA and Europe which was cheaper and higher in quality, compared to western
products.
Consumers worldwide relied on Japanese products as higher quality and cheaper price comparing to

magnitude of quality management. Figure 1 illustrates the difference between Japanese quality

History of the U.S. Marine Corps Noncommissioned Officer...
History Of the U.S. Marine Corps Noncommissioned Officer 1958 Present Noncommissioned

Marines enjoy being a corporal only because of the increase in rank and pay. A few become the
tactless leaders junior Marines try to avoid. Fortunately, many others mature into Marines who strive
to become the leader that other Marines wish to emulate. They know what it means to be a good
leader. Those Marines have the traits of a leader; they get to know their Marines; and they adhere to a

Figurative Blindness In Oedipus The King
Although blindness and sight seem diametrically opposed, they are more similar to each other than it
would seem. In Sophocles Oedipus Rex, the relationship between figurative blindness and literal
blindness is portrayed. In the play, figurative blindness is what Oedipus has as he does not understand
his parentage and the prophecy of his doom. Literal blindness is what Teiresias has suffered with his
whole life. Sophocles proves in the play that figurative blindness is far more harmful than literal
blindness due to the unwarranted sense of control that sight gives him. Oedipus, even though he can
see with his own eyes, is completely clueless to what is happening around him in Thebes. First of all,
he thinks his parents are Polybus and Merope of Corinth, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This illustrates the pattern of blindness that is prevalent throughout Greek plays. Literal vision is
clearly seen as not helpful unless you can actually see what is going on. Oedipus s figurative sight
comes from his understanding of his true parentage. And for him, receiving true sight necessitates
shaking off the distractions of literal vision. The second important problem with Oedipus s sight is that
it gives him a sense of control and a strong feeling of arrogance. First of all, Oedipus questions the
blind prophet Teiresias about why the plague is devastating Thebes. Oedipus forensically questions
Teiresias like he understands what is happening, when that is clearly inaccurate and in fact very ironic.
Oedipus says very ironically to Teiresias, You sightless, witless, senseless, mad old man (Perrine
1238). In reality, it is Oedipus who lacks sight and sense and Teiresias who possesses these in
abundance. Oedipus talks in the language of rational inquiry, of the courts and of those new sciences
that were already displacing the theologically based sciences that were already

Le Carnaval Des Animaux-Ciklus Virtuoso
The online concert that I listened to was called Le Carnaval des Animaux Ciklus Virtuoso, which
lasted about twenty seven minutes. Le Carnaval des Animaux composed of a chamber orchestra, it
was a small group playing. If I listened to this on a CD, I would think this was a symphony orchestra.
While watching this concert, I observed many different things. The instruments that I saw were
pianos, cello, violin, clarinet, xylophone, flute, and the viola. The piece s dynamics started out
pianissimo (very softly) and then began to go from soft to louder over time which is called crescendo
and the other instruments started to chime in. The most played instrument in the concert was the
piano. When the pianos were playing, they sometimes took low runs of octaves. The piano played a
cackling tune as the violin started to play louder. The first movement concluded with all the
instruments using a fortissimo (very loud) note. In the middle of the concert, the pianos played a
higher, softer, version of the melody while the violins were playing at the same beat. More towards the
end, the piano was played gentle, while a solo cello played a slow smooth melody. The pitch of the
violin sound went from high pitch to low pitch. My observation throughout listening to this concert
were, it sounded to me like the violins and cellos were attempting to make squeaky noises to imitate a
certain type of animal. The same scale was played over and over again. The flute was played very
softly, while the cello was played louder. Towards the middle of the concert, the melody is played by
the flute. The xylophone was played in rondo form, which was played in more than ... Show more

Lady Macbeth Internal Conflict Essay
In literature, internal conflict can be described as the struggle between two conflicting forces inside a
character s mind, the effect of which contributes to the entire work as a whole. In the great Tragedy of
Macbeth written by William Shakespeare, Lady Macbeth is forced not only to confront her desire for
power, but also the line where she crosses the threshold of her own morality. Does Lady Macbeth give
in to her own deep seeded ambition, at the expense of her internal conscience and well being? The
answer is yes, and in the process of doing so, many lives are lost, including her own, and that of her
husband and sovereign king. Throughout Macbeth, Lady Macbeth, in a dire conflict with herself, must
choose between murder, lies, and deceit, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order to emphasize this conflict and the contrast between Lady Macbeth and other characters,
Shakespeare presents the reader or audience with many other characters placed in similar
circumstances. These people facing the same internal struggle as Lady Macbeth can be considered
character foils, the most obvious of which is Macbeth. Lady Macbeth begins this play being portrayed
with an unrealistic drive for power while Macbeth is driven, but indecisive and unsure. However,
toward the middle of the play, as Lady Macbeth begins her spiral of guilt, becoming weaker and
weaker, the opposite occurs for Macbeth. As she slowly slips into her insanity, Macbeth becomes
bolder, acting as her perfect inverse. But, this isn t the only foil in the play. Shakespeare contrasts the
actions of Lady Macbeth to Banquo, Macduff, and Duncan, all men who were presented with huge
opportunities for power, but didn t let their greed override their sense of right and wrong. It is here
where conflict helps define one of the major themes of Macbeth; when ambition is unchecked by
moral restraints, it has the ability to destroy everything and anything in its

Shopping Malls Are Becoming Extinct
Ever wonder what your favorite mall will look like if it was replaced by an empty lot? How would you
feel? Approximately 60 years ago when shopping malls were first built, it was expected to be the
gleaming symbols of America s future. Shopping malls were created to lure customers from the city
into the suburbs; thus allowing shopping be done under one roof. However, according to recent studies
conducted by Green Street Advisors, 10 percent of the nation s 1,000 enclosed malls will fail by 2022.
Although this may not seem detrimental, once the malls begin to disappear, shoppers will be limited to
where they shop. Shopping malls are becoming extinct because of change in generation, economic
issues, and the closing of major anchor stores. As we enter a new generation, shoppers are gearing
toward online and mobile shopping, which contributes to the extinction of shopping malls. America
reached a time period where the number of adults who were born in a time where online shopping was
not thought of are retiring; resulting in old habits, such as shopping in malls, coming to a cease. The
older generation of adults tend to revert back to familiar habits such as shopping at malls or going to a
bookstore. The new generation of adults/teenagers do not use shopping malls as a hangout spot in
contrast to older generation, thus leading to the decline of shopping malls. Other than shopping,
shopping malls were once used for socializing. However, with the increase of social networks

bartender s face. This is done so that the auidience s attention is mainly on their facial expressions as

  • 2. Regional Pain Syndrome Speech Hello, I am Lisa Proctor and this is After CRPS (WEBCAST). Today I thought I could talk to you about Complex Regional Pain Syndrome and what I have learned it is. ............. Complex Regional Pain Syndrome aka The Suicide Disease is a neurodegenerative disorder characterized by the following criteria... Pain which is out of proportion to the injury; autonomic dysregulation; neuropathic edema; movement disorder, as well as atrophy and dystrophy of the muscular tissue........................ It is most often caused by a fracture, soft tissue injury or surgical procedure. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I fell on the 9th of February in 2012 and without warning went from caregiver to care given. Formally diagnosed with CRPS in 2015 just before a last ditch effort to allow me some sort of life after diagnosis I went forward with the implantation of the Spinal Cord Stimulator with the hope that the device would disrupt the pain signal. Because of its failure to address my pain and which in fact caused additional pain due to the how the device was installed, I had to find something else to help me. I wanted more out of life, I expected more out of life. So began my journey of discovery to regain my independence and a quality of life I once lost. It has taken almost three years now after reading that the underlying cause of CRPS was an autoimmune related condition to achieve the unexpected by turning around my prognosis and I ve only just begun. ...... It is because of individuals such as yourself who are where I was, feeling lost and abandoned by the mainstream medical community who gave life to After CRPS. It was your overwhelming requests for me to share my discoveries and how I have been able to regain my independence which encourages me to keep up the fight and for that, I say Thank ... • 4. Similarities Between Kepler And Kepler s Platonist... According to the common belief during the Middle Ages, the universe was comprised of many nested celestial spheres, or orbs. According to M.S. Mahoney, an astronomical researcher at Princeton University, Johannes Kepler, in his physics research, regarded the spheres as the geometrical spatial regions containing each planetary orbit rather than physical bodies as in preceding Aristotelian celestial physics . Kepler provided mathematical evidence to this theory, including the fact that the eccentricity of each planet s elliptical orbit and its major and minor axes defined the lengths of the radii of the inner and outer limits of its celestial sphere and, therefore, its thickness. The role of these geometrical spheres in Kepler s Platonist geometrical cosmology was to determine the sizes and ordering of the five Platonic polyhedral within which the spheres were supposedly spatially embedded (Mahoney). Although each sphere rotated uniformly, the combination of their separate revolutions prompted the discovery of the appearance of the irregularity in the motions of the sun and the plants as astronomers viewed from the Earth. The notion that the planets were celestial three dimensional spheres rather than concrete two dimensional objects contributed to the naming of Pythagoras s theory, known as the Harmony of the Spheres. The Music of the Spheres, also known as Musica Universalis, originated from the Greek philosopher, Pythagoras. During his time, the celestial spheres ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Coughran 4/12/17 Objective: The objective in Lab 5 is to measure and determine the strength and location of magnetic fields using a coil, solenoid, and magnets. The experimental values of the strength of the magnetic fields of the solenoid and the coil will be calculated and then compared to their respective theoretical values for accuracy. Theory: Field line patterns exist within a magnetic field that is created by a current. These field lines of a coil or a solenoid can be traced by using a compass because they create a dipole pattern, meaning that they diverge from the north end and ... Both did not have significant effect. Procedure B: Field Patterns Inside a Solenoid A slinky was stretched on the lab bench and taped down with the turns of each slinky at roughly 1 cm apart. Positive and negative alligator clips were then attached to each end of the slinky to allow for current flow through the slinky. Next, a Vernier magnetic field probe was placed in the center of the slinky, zeroed, and set to high sensitivity for accuracy. The power supply was then turned on and adjusted until the current reached about 0.5A. Data collection was started and the average experimental magnetic field values, B, were measured several times for accuracy. An average of these values was then taken using the analyze statistics tool and then stored in Logger Pro for inclusion in the data section. Next, the theoretical value B value for the solenoid was measured using Equation 1 above and compared to the average experimental B value mentioned previously in order to check the setup. A percent error was calculated between each of these values at each current setting. Once the setup showed good accuracy and was adjusted, the current was varied from 0A to 1.0A and magnetic field data was collected. The magnetic field data and the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Reaching the top is like a victory over the mountain. No one can consider every element of nature. But Nature shows its dominance in the face of human error and arrogance. In the Book Into thin air many of the characters display pride and arrogance in their abilities to tame nature and climb Mt. Everest. The expedition guides show arrogance and pride while trying to climb Mount Everest. At one point Scott Fischer states that he has built a yellow brick road to the summit (Krakauer 86). When you play a sport you listen to the coaches giving out examples and then you go out to the field and executed. As seen in measure 3, he sets up the trumpet, horn, and trombone to tongue at different speeds while raising in dynamic. While it would be assumed that the only muted voice would be the foreground of the section, the opposite is presented here. The horn continues the ostinato figure from the previous figure. Overall this allows for the rest of the ensemble to act as the solo voices collectively, and allows the rhythmic variance they have against the horn to stand out. In measure 68 we see the opposite combination used, where everyone is muted except for the tuba. This was likely done so that the tuba would have a distinct difference in color comparatively. This is necessary for its melodic line to cut through the ensemble. The end of the piece features the only change in the muted horn in the movement. At the turn of the 20th century, increasing vigilance of women led to the focus of placing responsibility on both men and women for the corruption of sex workers. Both genders had a responsibility for the prevalence of prostitution as well as to finding a solution to a prevalent problem in metropolitan areas such as Chicago. However, rather than providing financial or social resources to help victims of prostitution form relationships and earn a respectable place in society, many progressive and feminists reformers as part of the Feminist Movement argued for the creation of vice commissions in order to gather evidence and research on the connections between prostitution and structured crime. This led to the persecution of prostitutes and the long term establishment of the criminal industry due to the infrastructure and legal foundations for the processing and cracking down on the Social Evil . However, there were individuals such as Jane Addams who worked tirelessly to improve the conditions of sex workers and those who recently left the profession, but she knew that there was a great divide between the public and the women who had been abused and used for one of the worst sins society has prevalent within it. The term invokes many connotations and expectations, but few can agree on an actual meaning.1 Geoffrey Millerson, a prominent sociologist, defined profession as a type of higher grade, non manual occupation, with both subjectively and objectively recognized occupational status, possessing a well defined area of study or concern and providing a definite service, after advanced training and education. 2 According to Millerson s definition, the United States Army is in fact a profession. Millerson identifies the first component of a profession as higher grade, non manual occupation . Many academics agree that a key component of a profession is specialized skill based on a body of knowledge.3 Initially, many will contend that the U.S. Army does not pass the first requirement. Soldiers work long and hard often completing tasks requiring physical strength and endurance. At first glance, the composition and mission of the military undermines the definition of a profession. Obviously, the military relies on a certain amount of physical labor to complete its mission. However, the military is also composed of personnel who manage and direct the employment of assets to strategically, operationally, or tactically defeat the enemy. The knowledge required to employ those capabilities offsets the physical labor necessary to accomplish the task. The army requires officers to be educated and to fulfill ... • 28. Analysis Of Stanley Cohen s Folk Devils And Moral Panics The term Moral Panic was an expression created by Stanley Cohen in his 1972 book Folk devils and Moral Panics . Cohen, who was a sociology professor at the University of Essex in the 60s, developed the concept of Moral Panic as a way to describe the media coverage of the violence that spawned between two rival youth gangs (the Mods and the Rockers) and to explain the following societal reaction to that era s adolescent sub culture. Since then the term has been regularly used in the media to refer to all sorts of anti social and criminal behaviours. The use of media can create unnecessary panic about a range of different subjects, one of the most popular being drugs. At around the same time as Cohen s original research and study, a man named Jock Young, another sociologist and criminologist (and a co author with Cohen of later studies including The Manufacture of News 1981), explored the moral panic that developed around the drug use of hippies in the mid to late 60s. In particular he researched and examined the social reaction to the use of marijuana in the Notting Hill area of West London and described the process of deviance amplification which is a process that occurs as a consequence of a moral panic over a specific type of behaviour. In a nutshell, deviance amplification is reinforcing the effect that happens as a result of a negative social reaction to such criminal or deviant behaviour (i.e, drug use) and this happens on a daily basis in the media, ... In addition, some people with ADD can be fidgety, verbally impulsive, unable to wait their turn, and act on impulse regardless of consequences. However, it is important to remember not all people with ADD have all of these difficulties, or all of the time. Due to the fact that society has traditionally thought of a person with ADD as being hyper, many children who have ADD with no hyperactivity are not being identified or treated. Individuals with ADD without hyperactivity are sometimes thought of as daydreamers or absent minded professors. The non hyperactive children with ADD most often seem to be girls (though girls can have ADD with hyperactivity, and boys can have ADD without hyperactivity). • 35. Figurative Blindness In Oedipus The King Although blindness and sight seem diametrically opposed, they are more similar to each other than it would seem. In Sophocles Oedipus Rex, the relationship between figurative blindness and literal blindness is portrayed. In the play, figurative blindness is what Oedipus has as he does not understand his parentage and the prophecy of his doom. Literal blindness is what Teiresias has suffered with his whole life. Sophocles proves in the play that figurative blindness is far more harmful than literal blindness due to the unwarranted sense of control that sight gives him. Oedipus, even though he can see with his own eyes, is completely clueless to what is happening around him in Thebes. First of all, he thinks his parents are Polybus and Merope of Corinth, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This illustrates the pattern of blindness that is prevalent throughout Greek plays. Literal vision is clearly seen as not helpful unless you can actually see what is going on. Oedipus s figurative sight comes from his understanding of his true parentage. And for him, receiving true sight necessitates shaking off the distractions of literal vision. The second important problem with Oedipus s sight is that it gives him a sense of control and a strong feeling of arrogance. First of all, Oedipus questions the blind prophet Teiresias about why the plague is devastating Thebes. Oedipus forensically questions Teiresias like he understands what is happening, when that is clearly inaccurate and in fact very ironic. Oedipus says very ironically to Teiresias, You sightless, witless, senseless, mad old man (Perrine 1238). In reality, it is Oedipus who lacks sight and sense and Teiresias who possesses these in abundance. The piece s dynamics started out pianissimo (very softly) and then began to go from soft to louder over time which is called crescendo and the other instruments started to chime in. The most played instrument in the concert was the piano. When the pianos were playing, they sometimes took low runs of octaves. The piano played a cackling tune as the violin started to play louder. The first movement concluded with all the instruments using a fortissimo (very loud) note. In the middle of the concert, the pianos played a higher, softer, version of the melody while the violins were playing at the same beat. Lady Macbeth Internal Conflict Essay In literature, internal conflict can be described as the struggle between two conflicting forces inside a character s mind, the effect of which contributes to the entire work as a whole. In the great Tragedy of Macbeth written by William Shakespeare, Lady Macbeth is forced not only to confront her desire for power, but also the line where she crosses the threshold of her own morality. Does Lady Macbeth give in to her own deep seeded ambition, at the expense of her internal conscience and well being? Lady Macbeth begins this play being portrayed with an unrealistic drive for power while Macbeth is driven, but indecisive and unsure. However, toward the middle of the play, as Lady Macbeth begins her spiral of guilt, becoming weaker and weaker, the opposite occurs for Macbeth. As she slowly slips into her insanity, Macbeth becomes bolder, acting as her perfect inverse. But, this isn t the only foil in the play. Shakespeare contrasts the actions of Lady Macbeth to Banquo, Macduff, and Duncan, all men who were presented with huge opportunities for power, but didn t let their greed override their sense of right and wrong. Approximately 60 years ago when shopping malls were first built, it was expected to be the gleaming symbols of America s future. Shopping malls were created to lure customers from the city into the suburbs; thus allowing shopping be done under one roof. However, according to recent studies conducted by Green Street Advisors, 10 percent of the nation s 1,000 enclosed malls will fail by 2022. Although this may not seem detrimental, once the malls begin to disappear, shoppers will be limited to where they shop. Shopping malls are becoming extinct because of change in generation, economic issues, and the closing of major anchor stores. As we enter a new generation, shoppers are gearing toward online and mobile shopping, which contributes to the extinction of shopping malls. America reached a time period where the number of adults who were born in a time where online shopping was not thought of are retiring; resulting in old habits, such as shopping in malls, coming to a cease. The older generation of adults tend to revert back to familiar habits such as shopping at malls or going to a bookstore.
