Graphics pass-through with VT-d allows direct access to graphics devices by virtual machines. It provides good performance but requires addressing challenges like legacy VGA resources and device re-initialization. The presentation discusses graphics pass-through approaches, implementing pass-through for primary and secondary discrete GPUs as well as integrated graphics, and shows near-native performance for 3D graphics workloads with pass-through. Specific hacks may be needed for some virtualization-unfriendly graphics devices.
